Arena: Charicific Valley

Deep within the cliffs in southern Johto lies the ancient Charicific Valley. Once just a sanctuary for Charizard this oasis found new life when its inhabitants discovered their Mega Evolutions. The long dormant volcano which engulfs the valley found new life and while eruptions are infrequent the heat is intense. These new conditions allowed the Charizard to reach their full potential as Dragons and this encouraged other Dragon's alike to train themselves in the valley. Now it acts as a haven for all draconic Pokemon, while others find the conditions harsh and near inhospitable.

Throughout the valley one might find rocks, water, grass and anything else that might be useful in a Pokemon battle. However the volcano and this land have began to exhibit special properties which aid the Dragons in defending their valley. With every eruption the very air within the valley has its composition changed. The heat, as well as flammable ash particles in the air make Fire particularly potent here. The molten lava has also begun to change many of the rocks and portions of the cliffs into newly formed metals, making Steel typed forces more powerful. Finally a thick cloud of smog seeps from every crack along the mountain leaving many Poisons in the air, water and even every surface. The Dragons are able to harness these powers to fend off would be invaders.

Almost as prevalent as the Volcano within the valley is the gigantic Charizard statue underneath which battles are contested. The statue of such an ancient and majestic beast imbues a strong sense of pride in not only Charizard but all draconic Pokemon. This need to please the powerful Dragon means that blows which would smite his enemies gain more natural accuracy, particularly those of Poison and Steel properties.

Finally, given it was Mega Evolution that gave the valley its newfound draconic power it is only natural that Charizard and other Pokemon which gain the Dragon typing through Mega Evolution find it easier to do so here. Any Pokemon with such traits may be brought by the Leader, and the Pokemon will be considered Mega Evolved in their Pokeball prior to send out. Battlers may bring two Mega Evolutions throughout the match and as battles are fought with two abilities trainers must specify which of their Pokemon's active abilities are to be replaced upon Mega Evolution if applicable.

Summary
  • Fire, Poison and Steel typed moves have +2 Base Attack Power.
  • Poison and Steel typed moves gain +10% accuracy before any other modifiers
  • Pokemon which gain the Dragon typing through Mega Evolution may be brought by the Leader but must equip their Mega Stone, and are considered Mega Evolved in the Pokeball.
  • Nature Power calls Lava Plume, Camouflage turns the user Fire typed and Secret Power may burn. The arena is outdoors.
  • No other moves are restricted, all weathers are possible.

Ladies and Gentlemen! THIS IS! The main event of the evening! This is the moment you all UFC ASB fans watching around the globe have been waiting for. LIVE from the Chariffic Valley, Australia.

IIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTSSSSSSSSSSSSSS TIME!!!

and now introducing the challenger! Fighting out of the red corner. This man is a pokemon trainer who spcialize in Fairy Tail pokemon. Holding a professional record 13 wins, 9 losses. Sporting a very obvious mega Gardevoir and two other random (and slightly weird) pokemon, he will need to make sure Lucario doesn't face anything too dangerous to not lose a pokemon early. Fighting out of Malysia, we have the current Rock Gym Leader:

ZHENGTANN
Lucario(*) Gray (M)

Gray the Riolu first clapped eyes on Zt when he hatched, and has followed him ever since, after bidding goodbye to his birth parents. His desire to be as good as his father (who was a well-known Pokemon in Sinnoh) drives him to perfect his body and trademark Aura Sight in all forms of training. Gray is Natsu’s rival in every way, however it’s not unusual to see them interrupt their fights just to face ‘outsiders’. Like his Ice-Making namesake, Gray is a thinking brawler. His intuition for fights, along with his uncanny ability to read his opponents movements, means he can usually counter the same instant his opponent makes a move. Oddly enough, despite numerous brawls, he sometimes still can’t read Natsu’s moves correctly.

The Hall training was grueling and long, for which Gray took quite some time to getting used to. But it honed his patience, well until the point where there remained very few things that can still bother him - those he held dear to his heart. Using his mind, he started learning how to read and shape energy, to wield his mind as a separate weapon form his body. He plans to put that to great use, still holding a secret ambition to meet and challenge his birth father again, as unlikely as it may be. His aura improved tremendously with the training of his mind and body in the Halls as well as the possession of a Lucarionite - to the point where he can sense danger to a certain extent miles away.

Nature: Mild (+1 SpAtk, -1 Def)

Type:

Fighting type: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

Steel type: Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm damage, immune to Poison/Toxic status, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, making them susceptible thereafter.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Steadfast
Type: Passive
If Gray would be flinched by an attack, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases Speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This Speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Ability 2: Inner Focus
Type: Passive
When an opponent attempts to flinch Gray, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.

Ability 3: Justified (DW unlocked)
Type: Passive
Gray's body reacts to dark aura, invigorating his passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, Gray's attack will increase by one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by another Pokemon's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.

Ability 4: Adaptability (Mega-Evo only)
Type: Passive
The moves that match Gray's current type would have their Base Attack Power increased by two (2).

Gardevoir - Lucy (F)

Born without a family in the wild, Lucy’s life has been fraught with peril of being hunted and bullied by most other wild, stronger Pokemon. One such incident left her under severe shock from poison by an unknown aggressive Poison-type. Had a human not happened by, she would’ve died or at best, crippled for life. Luckily, Zheng was the second person to found her, called by a fellow trainer who was looking for mushrooms in that region. Together they saved the Ralts, and after a brief discussion Zheng named her Lucy and brought her into his family. Gray was the first to be able to contact directly with her, but it was through efforts and enthusiasm of the whole gang that brought her out of trauma and into life again.

Despite her growing strength, Lucy still has much distaste for open, direct conflict - hence she is very much like Wendy in that regard, learning the arts of healing and support, using direct attacks as distraction rather than full-on assault. Despite that, she gets on quite well with most of the brawling boys - they respect her decision, and will not hesitate to take her side against any foes who dared to so much as insult her. In turn, Lucy is the logical voice of the whole family - her ideas always astute outside of battle, with her innate mental capabilities only enhance her charms and perception.

Lucy likes to spend most of her time penning her thoughts into words, giving herself clarity on her own emotions. Confident in her appeal and skills, she sometimes still has her doubtful moments, but learning to calm her inner storms is something Zheng taught her to do diligently, and she always falls back to that in any situation.

The discovery of Gardevoirite trade intrigued Zheng, and when Lucy came in contact with it, she seemed to be in a far tranquil state of mind. Such was here power with the Mega Stone that the whole monastery and even nearby areas are shrouded in an aura of peace and compassion. Taking care not to affect the lives of others, Zheng had since been cautious in allowing Lucy to come in full contact with the Stone, unless the battle demands for the release of her powers.

Castform - Mirajane (F)

Mirajane is a sweet girl, always smiling at everyone, even though she sometimes do gets into fights with Erza when the latter is not busy pounding Natsu. She helped Elfman overcome his innate fear to swimming by teaching him patiently in Lake Lucid. As a result, the latter treated her as an elder sister, always protective of her while respecting her opinions on every turn. In turn, Mirajane always stays near Elfman for guidance, often perching atop his head on journeys and summoning sunny skies to invigorate the Numel. Despite her small stature, no one else in the family looks upon her as the one to be protected - Mirajane is very capable of looking after herself, usually resolving conflicts around her in a diplomatic way but more than willing to respond with force if necessary.

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type (weather-dependent):
Normal type: Normal STAB; +1 BAP on attacks that match dominant arena type after 3 actions. Thrash or Outrage will not be disrupted by oncoming damage.

Up high, down low. /touches gloves
On a serious note, I have no clear idea how to even present a good enough challenge, given the weight class differences. Deadfox could probably field Kingdra and I'd still be stumped. So uh, here goes everything!

"This looks a lot like that place Elfman went to.... Is this nowhere in particular?"
Mirajane (Castform w/ Everstone). Do I get +1 BAP to Fire attacks as per Normal STAB?

"Well then, this is somewhat of a strange situation to find ourselves in."

Yeah, can't find a way to outdamage, so we'll just have to rely on freezes or 80% accuracy moves to at least not lose too much,

"At least they could turn up the heat a little more. Would be more comfortable this way."
Blizzard > Substitute (25HP) > Blizzard
IF Blizzard misses A1, THEN replace A3 with Ice Beam.

Round 1!

And it started!

The fighters begin this bout by studying each other closely. Mirajane seems like a swifter fighter, whereas Rupture is just one of those gals stronger than most male fighters in the business. It seems to be grace vs brute force in this women fight!

The studying didn't last much, as Mirajane attacked first with a Blizzard of High Kicks, that exploded on Druddigon's defenses!

Just imagine a a cute little female thing without actual legs doing it.

Rupture responded with a Liver Power Up Punch, hoping to hit something important

and he succeded, dealing extra critical damage!

This made Mirajane get more cautious and she took a couple steps back and put up her guard (read: substitute) to absorb the incoming attacks. Which worked just fine to absorb the Uppercut Rupture threw at her. You could smash rocks with that strength...

Finally, Mirajane tried once more to overpower Rupture with a Blizzard of High Kicks, except that she kinda...

fell and missed the attack

oops

Luckily her guard was still up, so the fall + her guard managed to block the Powerful Super-man Punch Rupture attacked her with. Sadly though, that broke the guard (read: sub), leaving mirajane wide open!

Overall Rupture's brute force seems to be leaps and bounds ahead of Mirajane's graceful style. She will need to figure something out if her team really wants to take the belt home!

Hopefully I'll get to a normal-ish schedule by this weekend. Also the rolls are disheartening :(
I can't straight up win a damage race, so all I can do is chicken dance until R3 :/

"Also, why is this match between an atomweight and a heavyweight?"
Ice Beam > Icy Wind > Ice Beam
IF Damaging Fighting-type move AND Mirajane-Castform did NOT use Protect last action, THEN replace that action with Protect instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Damaging Dragon-type move AND Mirajane-Castform did NOT use Protect last action, THEN replace that action with Protect instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Mirajane-Castform has 31 or less HP AND Mirajane-Castform did NOT use Protect last action, THEN replace that action with Protect instead, pushing remaining queue back.

"Well if you want to play it that way.."

Druddigon: Fire Punch - Gunk Shot - Stealth Rock
IF Castform has 31 or less HP on action 2 THEN commence string Stealth Rock - Gunk Shot
IF Castform has 32 or more HP on action 3 THEN Fire Punch

Round 2!

And the fight goes on, and things aren't looking good for our adorable Castform. Thanks to a desperate sub, Castform just stood there while Druddigon filled the arena with nasty Stealth Rocks

Is that even legal?

Either way, Druddigon still managed to deliver quite the hurt with unSTABed moves, thanks to Sheer Force, the Local arena and Life Orb.

Honestly, with so many boosts, it is a wonder how the leader loses so much to fairies <_<;. But ignore that ^_^.

Castform seems done for, so the next round is mostly formality. BUT if the challenger plays it right, it is possible, even though not likely, that he manages to recover some precious momentum after all.

God knows, it surely needs some...

Oh yep, that one only lasted until last Friday, but then I didn't log in on Sunday my time. Also dangit, I don't have a counterplay to that.

"That's it? ANOTHER heavyweight?"
Counterswitch offer declined.

"Make short work of this one please Claws."

Oh right, technically my scrim record is more like 44 wins, 48 losses. Not as glamourous as OP stated, but hey.

"Well, that's going to be hard for Lucy. Ufufufu, hard."

This challenge is a goner I think. But at least this means Deadfox gets a small pump in his defense records :p

".... So now I'm supposed to dance and please the crowd? Yuuuuck."
Lucy (Gardevoir w/ Gardevoitie).

[Mega-Evolve] [Activate Trace: Solar Power] Hyper Voice > Draining Kiss > Hyper Voice
IF Claws-Charizard would use Bide, THEN replace the action queue with Thunder Wave > Telekinesis > Hypnosis instead, starting from the action Bide is used.
IF Claws-Charizard would be under the evasive phase of Damaging Evasive moves, THEN replace the first instance with Reflect, the second with Wish, and the third with Future Sight instead, pushing remaining queue back each time.
IF Claws-Charizard would use a Damaging Steel-type combo, THEN replace the first instance with Substitute (15HP) and the second with Protect instead.

"Oh how I do hate Draining Kiss. Good luck tracing and ability that isn't there however."

Charizard-X: Iron Tail - Iron Tail - Iron Tail

Round 4!

I wonder which fighting analogy I can use to a fiery dragon swinging its tail around.

Well, maybe next time I will have a better analogy. On the meantime let me just state how double-boosted Iron Tail packs quite a punch. Only Draining Kiss manages to get to a similar output.

One looking at the round might even wonder why the hell the gym leader bitches so much about Gardevoir being broken. Well, you can go ask him haha.

DATA:

STEALTH ROCK (-12hp)

ACTION 1!

Charizard used Iron Tail! (-7en)

ACTION 2!

Charizard used Iron Tail! (-11en)

"Claws, I think you have an important part to play with another waiting to come out to play here. That and you just miss the OAKO, which is kind of important."

Cleaver the Haxorus
Item: Expert Belt
Abilities: Mould Breaker, Unnerve

Also a few points to note:
a) I'm not sure if Garde should have spent energy on that failed Trace?
b) I am sure that Bold Mega Gardevoir only has 100 speed
c) Based on your action set I'm going to assume Garde has Trace and Pixillate as its abilities, but don't forget to specify again. I still need to find out if I can have some form of punishment for not stating abilities.

Eh, this is a lost case, so I don't mind however Frosty reffs it. It is my fault for not checking the rules myself, after all.

"Well, at least that's the last of them. Hopefully Gray can take all of them out before I have to strip down to my sports br-"

"Oiii!!!"
Counterswitch offer declined.

"Well lets see if we can't finish this one off too."

IF successful protective/evasive action THEN Dragon Dance
IF Endure THEN commence string Taunt - Protect - Iron Tail
