Drapion

[OVERVIEW]

Drapion is a very prominent Pokemon in the RU metagame, possessing a very nice defensive typing with only one weakness and an immunity to Psychic-type attacks. This typing makes its STAB combination very threatening offensively as well. Furthermore, Drapion can function in a variety of roles, including setup sweeper, revenge killer, and occasionally a specially defensive set. Drapion possesses a variety of effective moves such as Knock Off, Poison Jab, Pursuit, and Toxic Spikes. This gives Drapion plenty of utility as a Pursuit trapper and a Toxic Spikes setter. Furthermore, Drapion checks and counters many top-tier Psychic-type threats, such as Meloetta and Sigilyph, while also being able to revenge kill troublesome Pokemon like Virizion with Choice Scarf. Accordingly, Drapion fits on a plethora of builds. However, Drapion's awkward Speed tier leaves it outsped by Pokemon like Flygon and Sigilyph, and its low base Special Defense makes it hard for Drapion to switch into even resisted moves like Leaf Storm from a Life Orb Venusaur frequently.

Moves

Swords Dance allows Drapion to act as a wincon and break through a variety of bulky walls that it would normally have trouble beating. Knock Off functions as a solid STAB move that hits Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively, while also possessing the ability to rid the foe of its item, which is particularly helpful against bulky targets. Poison Jab is another solid STAB move, hitting Grass- and Fairy-types like Virizion and Aromatisse super effectively, which resist Dark-type moves. Aqua Tail acts as coverage in hitting opposing Rock-, Ground-, and Fire-types super effectively; this is particularly important in hitting Rhyperior, which can take any of Drapion's STAB moves and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Earthquake can be used over Aqua Tail to allow Drapion to hit Steel- and Poison-types super effectively, most notably targeting opposing Drapion, Magneton, and Registeel.

Set Details
========

Lum Berry allows Drapion to set up on moves like Scald without fearing burns or sustain burns from moves like Will-O-Wisp once, which could stop a potential sweep. Shuca Berry helps with opposing Flygon and Rhyperior. Battle Armor protects Drapion from critical hits, which is important when setting up. Sniper gives Drapion a greater chance of dealing critical hits. A spread of 252 Attack and 252 Speed is used to maximize offensive presence and speed. A Jolly nature is used over Adamant to outspeed Pokemon like Meloetta.

Usage Tips
========

Wait until the opponent's checks and counters to Drapion are weakened mid- or late-game to start setting up. Watch out for Pokemon that may carry Colbur Berry like Slowking and Jellicent. Make sure to scout for potential Choice Scarf users that may stop Drapion's sweep, such as Hitmonlee. Knock Off is very spammable early-game, as many of Drapion's checks and counters do not appreciate losing their item. Although Drapion is immune to Psychic-type attacks, make sure to not carelessly switch it on a Psychic-type that may take advantage of this, like Sigilyph using Heat Wave or Meloetta with Hyper Voice. Shuca Berry Drapion can be used to bait Pokemon like Rhyperior and Flygon.

Team Options
========

Drapion fits on a wide variety of builds. Teammates that can switch into Ground-type attacks like Braviary work well. Pokemon that help with faster Pokemon such as Fletchinder and Virizion can be good teammates. Furthermore, Pokemon that appreciate Drapion's Poison- and Dark-type STAB moves to beat their checks pair well with it, making Fighting-, Water-, and Psychic-types good partners. Electric-type Pokemon like Jolteon and Magneton are good partners for the Shuca Berry set because Drapion can lure and weaken Ground-types and help them clean more easily. Finally, Pokemon with Healing Wish like Mesprit are helpful.

Moves
========

Knock Off functions as the primary Dark-type STAB move, getting rid of items while also dealing high damage and hitting Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively. Poison Jab functions as a strong Poison-type STAB move, dealing high amounts of damage to Fairy- and Grass-type Pokemon, hitting multiple types that resist Dark, and being able to revenge kill Pokemon like Virizion. Pursuit allows Drapion to come in on and trap Pokemon like Hoopa and Sigilyph, which fear Knock Off. Earthquake allows Drapion to hit opposing Magneton, Drapion, and Registeel. Ice Fang is primarily for hitting Flygon and other Ground-types like Rhyperior. Aqua Tail hits opposing Rhyperior and Mega Camerupt super effectively and can be run in the fourth slot over Earthquake. Toxic Spikes can be used over Earthquake or Ice Fang to spread status.

Set Details
========

Choice Scarf is the item of choice, allowing Drapion to outspeed a variety of threats like Virizion. Sniper is used in order for a greater chance of getting a critical hit. An Adamant nature is preferred for more power; however, you lose out on outspeeding Choice Scarf Hitmonlee and Choice Scarf Meloetta with positive Speed natures. Therefore, you can run Jolly to outspeed these threats. 252 Attack and 252 Speed EVs are invested to maximize offensive prowess and speed.

Usage Tips
========

Try not to reveal Drapion's Choice Scarf too early on, such as by switching into a Virizion's Close Combat, which makes the item obvious. Knock Off is very spammable early-game to get rid of a foe's item. Be careful of Pokemon that commonly carry Colbur Berry, as they can tank a Knock Off and retaliate. Use Drapion to revenge kill the foe with Pursuit if the opponent has a weakened Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokemon on the field. Be wary of which move you are locking Drapion into, as your opponent can take advantage of Drapion if it is locked into an unfavorable move in order to set up.

Team Options
========

Drapion is usually used to fill slots on a team and help eliminate weaknesses to Pokemon like Virizion. Grass-type Pokemon help eliminate Ground-types if you need to switch out; examples include Virizion and Venusaur. Pokemon that can switch into Drapion, such as Alomomola and Registeel, can be taken care of by Virizion and Magneton. Pokemon that appreciate Toxic Spikes and a Toxic Spikes absorber are also helpful. Pokemon like Jolteon that appreciate fast Ground-types removed have favorable synergy with Drapion. Rotom, Gurdurr, and Sigilyph are good partners because Toxic Spikes can wear down their checks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A specially defensive set can be run with Taunt, Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, and Pursuit, with Whirlwind as another option. Choice Band can be run with the same moves as the Choice Scarf set to provide immediate power in wearing down checks more easily.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon like Rhyperior and Mega Camerupt can threaten Drapion with their STAB moves.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon like Virizion and Sneasel can be threatening if Drapion has low health because they can do a big chunk of damage.

**Status**: Burns and paralysis are very crippling for Drapion, as it relies on its Attack and Speed.

No mention of shuca?

Also tspikes on scarf and SpD may be worthy of moves and Oo respectively

Take Azelfie

More flags more fun
You might want mention band in oo, it's pretty cool since its has a powerful KOff + Pursuit while also punishing Granbull + Virizion. Punchshroom has also used this set so I'm not the only one. I've also noticed that Drapion runs TSpikes extremely often in RegiMola cores (kind of where it gets most of its usage) so I'm more tempted to say it deserves a slash than just a simple mention in oo, or at least mention it moves.

Toxic Spikes is decent on scarf because it can pressure stall builds where an opposing poison that can absorb spikes is dead (opposing scarf drap / venu / garb) and Alomomola is a at high health + knocked, not really giving drap much more use besides knocking + pursuiting a psychic V stall

It basically forces Flygon to Defog so you can get your offense into gear while they are on the backfoot

shuca deffo doesn't help w/camel, modest blows through regardless and is just as likely to fire blast for the ko. bellers I feel are a lil too slow for [shuca] drap teams to be purely effective, and by the time its done beating into stuff the first time (when you'd wanna be providing that bell support), ur too low to make good on it. healing wish from a mesprit is way more plausible. oh, and mentioning how shuca baiting the fast ground can set up an electric, maybe even a viriz, wouldn't hurt either

think id be way more quick to run ice fang than aqua tail on scarf, tbh. the ability to catch a gonner is way nicer than the ability to chunk a rhyperior for half on the switch, which 9/10 times is less gainful for the team than just doubling in terms of acting on that prediction. also don't key the team options like scarf drap is the build-around -_-

- Remove Dugtrio mentions from the SD Set and in general, it is banned and the analysis has to reflect that.

- Team Options on the Swords Dance set could be expanded a little bit, mention Electric types like Jolteon and Magneton being great partners for SD Shuca since these share similar checks, like the ground types and Drapion can lure them and weaken all of them with +2 attacks, helping electric types like Jolteon clean opposing team more easily, it is odd that the good synergy it shares with Jolteon is mentioned with the scarf set and not with the SD Set.

- Team Options on the Scarf set are better but could be a bit more specific. Mention Pokemon like Rotom (Electric/Ghost), Gurdurr and Sigilyph since they appreciate the Toxic Spikes support to wear down their respective checks.

- In this sentence "Although Drapion is immune to psychic type attacks make sure to not carelessly switch it on a psychic type that may take advantage of this like Sigilyph clicking heat wave" mention Meloetta as well since it could blow Drapion away with a simple prediction. 2 Psychic types Drapion shouldnt attempt to switch directly unless the user is certain they are going for a psychic type move.

- Other Options looks really barren, could use like a lot more. Mention how the SpDef set would work (Taunt, Knock Off, Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab / Pursuit) with its potential benefits, also mention whirlwind as an option but emphasize on why Pursuit and Poison Jab are more important, like pursuit trapping Hoopa for defensive teams. Definitely say something about Choice Band despite it being a copy of the Choice Scarf set, mention its nice inmediate power and how it can wear down its checks much more easily.

Pretty good overall, some grammar issues but GP will take of that

QC 3/3 after this is done.

However, Drapion's awkward Speed tier leaves it outsped by Pokemon like Flygon and Sigilyph, and its low base Special Defense makes it hard for Drapion to switch into even resisted moves like Leaf Storm from a Life Orb Venusaur frequently.

Swords Dance allows Drapion to act as a wincon and break through a variety of bulky walls that it would normally have trouble beating. Knock Off functions as a solid STAB move that hits Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively,(AC) while also possessing the ability to rid the foe of its item, which is particularly helpful against bulky targets.(end sentence),(RC) while hitting Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively. (I feel that this flows better) Poison Jab is another solid STAB move, hitting Grass- and Fairy-types like Virizion and Aromatisse super effectively, which resist Dark-type moves. Aqua Tail acts as coverage in hitting opposing Rock-, Ground-, and Fire-types super effectively; this is particularly important in hitting Rhyperior, which can take any of Drapion's STAB moves and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Earthquake can be used over Aqua Tail to allow Drapion to hit Steel- and Poison- types super effectively, most notably targeting opposing Drapion, Magneton, and Registeel.

Lum Berry allows Drapion to set up on moves like Scald without fearing burns or sustain burns from moves like Will-O-Wisp once, which could stop a potential sweep. Shuca Berry helps with opposing Flygon and Rhyperior. Battle Armor allows Drapion to not be hit with critical hits, which is important when setting up. Sniper gives Drapion a greater chance of dealing critical hits. A spread of 252 Attack and 252 Speed is used to maximize offensive presence and speed. A Jolly nature is used over Adamant to outspeed Pokemon like Meloetta.

Usage Tips
========

Wait until the opponent's checks and counters to Drapion are weakened mid- or late-game to start setting up. Watch out for Pokemon that may carry Colbur Berry like Slowking and Jellicent. Make sure to scout for potential Choice Scarf users that may stop Drapion's sweep,(AC) such as Hitmonlee. Knock Off is very spammable early-game, as many of Drapion's checks and counters do not appreciate losing their item. Although Drapion is immune to Psychic-type attacks, make sure to not carelessly switch it on a Psychic-type that may take advantage of this,(AC) like Sigilyph using Heat Wave or Meloetta with Hyper Voice. Shuca Berry Drapion can be used to bait Pokemon like Rhyperior and Flygon.

Team Options
========

Moves

Knock Off functions as the primary Dark-type STAB move with two purposes, getting rid of items while also dealing high damage and hitting Ghost- and Psychic-types super effectively.

Set Details

Choice Scarf is the item of choice, allowing Drapion to outspeed a variety of threats like Virizion. Sniper is used in order for a greater chance of getting a critical hit. An Adamant nature is preferred for more power; however, you lose out on outspeeding Choice Scarf Hitmonlee and Choice Scarf Meloetta with positive Speed natures. Therefore, you can run Jolly to outspeed these threats. 252 Attack and 252 Speed EVs are invested to maximize offensive prowess and speed.

Usage Tips
========

Try not to reveal Drapion's Choice Scarf too early on,(AC) such as by switching into a Virizion's Close Combat, making which makes the item obvious. Knock Off is very spammable early-game to get rid of a foe's item. Be careful of Pokemon that commonly carry Colbur Berry, as they can tank a Knock Off and attack back retaliate. Use Drapion to revenge kill the foe with Pursuit if the opponent has a weakened Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokemon on the field. Be wary of which move you are locking Drapion into, because as (since the comma was there I put "as" instead, and using because with the comma makes the sentence awkward to read, and using because without a comma makes it drawn out) your opponent can take advantage of Drapion if it is locked into an unfavorable move in order to set up.

Drapion is usually used to fill slots on a team and help to eliminate weakness to Pokemon like Virizion. Grass-type Pokemon help eliminate Ground-types if you need to switch out; examples include Virizion and Venusaur. Pokemon that can switch into Drapion,(AC) such as Alomomola and Registeel,(AC) can be taken care of by Virizion and Magneton. Pokemon that appreciate Toxic Spikes (unless I'm mistaken, Drapion isn't running Toxic Spikes) and a Toxic Spikes absorber are also helpful. Pokemon like Jolteon that appreciate fast Ground-types removed have favorable synergy with Drapion. Rotom, Gurdurr,(space)and Sigilyph are good partners because Toxic Spikes can wear down their checks. (Since you have mentioned Toxic Spikes twice on this Scarf set, I think adding a sentence in the moves section would be better than just keeping it in other options, as a decent chunk of the Pokemon you listed here appreciate Toxic Spikes support)

Other Options
=============

Toxic Spikes or Ice Fang can be run on the Choice Scarf set as the last move. Toxic Spikes spreads hazards while Ice Fang targets Flygon. A specially defensive set can be run with Taunt, Toxic Spikes, Poison Jab, and Pursuit, with Whirlwind is as another option; however, Pursuit and Poison Jab (same thing with the check above. Poison Jab shouldn't be in this sentence, so indicate a reason why it's here if it's supposed to be here) are important for reasons like trapping Hoopa for defensive teams. Choice Band can be run with the same moves as the Choice Scarf set to provide immediate power in wearing down checks more easily.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon like Rhyperior and Mega Camerupt can threaten Drapion with their STAB moves.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon like Virizion and Sneasel can be threatening if Drapion is has low health because they can do a big chunk of damage.

**Status**: Burns and paralysis are very crippling for Drapion, as it relies on its Attack and Speed.

[OVERVIEW]

Drapion is a very prominent Pokemon in the RU metagame, possessing a very nice defensive typing with only one weakness and an immunity to Psychic-type attacks. This typing makes the combination of its STAB combination moves (sounds less awkward) very threatening offensively as well. Furthermore, Drapion can function in a variety of roles,(AC) including setup sweeper, revenge killer, and occasionally a specially defensive set. I agree (didn't like the double "while"); the comma before while has to be removed though. "while" for contrast uses a comma (I like red, while he likes blue); "while" for simultaneous action doesn't (close your eyes while I hide the gift). note that the comma that was before while in the original was correct though, since it was breaking off the ", which is particular helpful against bulky targets," aside.
everything else looks good!
