Overview
########
- Very good Speed stat that lets it outspeed most Pokemon in the metagame.
- Great ability in Arena Trap that lets it trap most of its opponents.
- Decent physical Attack that lets it KO Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X after Stealth Rock.
- Great offensive typing that hits a lot of types for neutral or super effective damage.
- Extremely frail because of low HP and Defenses.
- Limited movepool with only a few usable options.

move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Sucker Punch
move 4: Memento / Stealth Rock
ability: Arena Trap
item: Focus Sash
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly
Moves
========
- Earthquake is Dugtrio's most powerful STAB option and has great coverage, being able to hit a variety of types super effectively.
- Stone Edge's has good base power, as well as it hits the Flying-types that are immune to Earthquake for super effective damage.
- Sucker Punch is a good priority option that damages Gengar and Latios super effectively.
- Memento can be used when Dugtrio is brought down to low HP and grants a teammate a setup opportunity, as it forces offensive Pokemon to switch.
- Stealth Rock is a decent move option to use over Memento, as it hurts every Pokemon on the switch in, and Dugtrio can set it up relatively fast.
Set Details
========
- Arena Trap is a great ability as it allows Dugtrio to trap Pokemon such as Heatran and Tyranitar that are not Ghost-typed nor immune to Ground.
- Focus Sash is very useful as Dugtrio's extremely frail and this ensures it won't be OHKOed unless it has been hit already.
- The EVs maximize Dugtrio's physical offensive capatabilities as a physically offensive trapper.
- A Jolly nature helps Dugtrio to outspeed Scarf Tyranitar, Max Speed Adamant Talonflame and Max Speed Mega Metagross.
Usage Tips
========
- Dugtrio is a great switch in into Electric-types, as it can trap them and in most situations outspeed them and OHKO with Earthquake.
- Dugtrio can also be good to beat off weakened Pokemon with one of its attacks as Dugtrio will mostly outspeed those because of its high Speed.
- Make sure to use Memento once Dugtrio is around 1 HP, as this willll allow an ally to set up and force a switch.
- Stealth Rock is a good move to use once Dugtrio is brought in, early game, this way it can set up those Stealth Rock relatively fast.
Team Options
========
- Slow Volt Switch or U-turn users that can gain Dugtrio a safe switch in, such as Scizor and Mega Ampharos, make good partners.
- Pokemon that get rid of Grass-types for Dugtrio, such as Heatran, Mega Charizard X and Heracross, are great teammates as well.
- Pokemon that beat up the threatening Water-types for Dugtrio, such as Mega-Venusaur, Mega Manectric and Rotom-Wash, are great teammates too.
- Set up sweepers that can set up after Dugtrio lowered both offensive stats of the opponent by 2 after Memento, such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Scizor and Gyarados, make excellent partners too.
- Pokemon that take advantage of the Electric-, Fire- and Steel-types being defeated by Dugtrio, such as Latios or the before mentioned Mega-Venusaur make good partners too.
- Hazards removal from Pokemon such as Excadrill, Mandibuzz or Latias is great to keep Dugtrio's Focus Sash useful.
Other Options
########
- Choice Band can turn Dugtrio in a more dangerous physical attackers, but missing out on Focus Sash means it can barely live a single hit.
- Hone Claws is an option to boost Dugtrio's Attack stat and boosts Stone Edge's accuracy, but Dugtrio is generally too frail to set up.
- Substitute is an option to prevent Dugtrio from getting revengekilled easily, but this Substitute will be easily broken through and has no real good use.
- Reversal grants coverage against Ice-types and turns into a 200 base power move once Dugtrio is at a single HP, but is unreliable because at full HP it has barely power.
Checks & Counters
########
**Priority**: As Dugtrio is extremely frail, any powerful priority, such as Scizor's Bullet Punch, Mamoswine's Ice Shard and Azumarill's Aqua Jet, can beat Dugtrio.
**Choice Scarf users**: Common Choice Scarf users, such as Latios and Landorus-T, can outspeed Dugtrio and easily beat it with their STAB attacks.
**Bulky Flying-types**: Bulky Flying-types that aren't damaged very badly by Stone Edge, such as Mandibuzz and Gliscor, are excellent checks as well as they can beat it with a STAB attack or just stall it out with Toxic.
**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Breloom, Chesnaught and Celebi resist Earthquake and can get rid of Dugtrio relatively easy with their STAB attacks, though the latter needs to be careful of Sucker Punch.
**Water-types**: Most Water-types, such as Keldeo, Mega Gyarados and Rotom-Wash can take an Earthquake and proceed by beating Dugtrio with one of their STAB attacks.
