Hello, everyone, and welcome to the finals of the winner's bracket of DYAE, the tournament where your favorite underused Pokémon get to see the daylight!

Today, we have two very strong battlers ready to give it all and bring home a legendary grass-type legend. One of them used to be somewhat unknown until he started to wreck the hell out of a ton of veterans, while the other is our resident fighting type leader. Who'll win this fight? Get ready to find out!

Team Mowtom

Kanto [Primeape] (F)

Type: Fighting
  • Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.
Abilities:
Vital Spirit / Anger Point / Defiant (Unlocked)
  • This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage and energy/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker, it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Vital Spirit also has Insomnia, its Defense and Special Defense each is increased by one (1) Rank permanently, and its BRT is increased by two (2) ranks.
  • When struck with a critical hit, this Pokemon becomes enraged and its Attack rises to maximum (Stage 6). However, its Attack will drop up to two (2) stages at the end of each round instead of one (1) stage until it reaches the current natural stage.
  • The Pokemon has a deep sense of honor, and whenever one of its stats are decreased by an opponent's Attack or Ability, its Attack increases by two (2) stages. This boost may not reset towards its natural stage the round this ability is triggered.

Johto [Granbull] (M)

Type: Fairy
  • Fairy STAB; The consecutive move usage penalty for using damaging Fairy-type moves is reduced to two (2) from four (4).
Abilities:
Intimidate / Quick Feet / Rattled (Unlocked)
  • When this Pokemon initially goes out into the battlefield, it generates an intimidating roar or war cry that shakes all opponents on the battlefield, reducing their Attack stage (and adjusting the natural stage) by one (1). If an opponent switches in a new Pokemon, Intimidate can be activated again as a Command, and will affect all opponents.
    • Command: Activate Intimidate - 5 En - Lowers all foes' Attack (and adjusting the natural stage) by one (1) stage. Only usable if a foe entered play this round.
  • This Pokemon feels a sense of anxiety when afflicted with a status condition and its speed increases by 50% (x1.5). Although it can still be fully paralyzed, it will not suffer the Speed drop.
  • These Pokemon are more easily frightened by Ghost-, Bug-, and Dark-typed attacks and will raise their Speed by one (1) stage when struck by attacks of those types. If this ability was triggered by an opponent's attack, the natural stage is also adjusted.

Sinnoh [Yanmega] (F)

Type: Bug / Flying
  • Bug STAB; Adds an additional guaranteed attack on all multi-hit moves (does not include two hit moves) with a total hit cap of five (5).
  • Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.
Abilities:
Speed Boost / Tinted Lens / Frisk (Unlocked)
  • Pokemon with this ability increase their speed as the battle progresses, boosting it one (1) stage at the end of each round at the cost of 2% of their energy. This overrides the normal drop in stats that occurs at the end of each round (stats other than Speed are still affected).
  • When this Pokemon uses an attack that is normally not very effective, that attack is calculated at the next highest resistance modifier. (e.g. 4x resistance is calculated at 2x, 2x resistance becomes neutral).
  • The Pokemon has intimate knowledge of the opponent's held item and ignores any item-based increases or decreases in damage, BAP and STAB from the opponent's item. This will not block the increase in BAP moves like Acrobatics and Knock Off that incur when an item is or isn't held. Item-Based increase in ranks (Such as from Rare Candy) are not negated by Frisk. The Pokemon will not be affected by Fling or Natural Gift.

Reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.
  • Water STAB; Ignores arena restrictions on Water attacks that require an external water source. Evasive Diving reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
Abilities:
Tough Claws / Sniper / Pickpocket (Unlocked)
  • This Pokemon has sharp claws that enhance the power of all of its contact attacks by two (2) BAP.
  • This Pokemon has deadly accuracy and strikes sensitive points, increasing its critical hit bonus from +3 to +5 on single attacks, +2 to +3 on two-hit attacks, and +1 to +2 on multi-hit attacks.
  • This Pokemon's mischievous nature and greed make it very effective at pawning off an opponents item. If this Pokemon has no item and either it or the opposing Pokemon strikes with a contact attack, their item is stolen and becomes the held item of this Pokemon.

And here we have Mowtom's team! On first sight, I would say that Kanto the Primeape and Johto the Granbull will be the most important mons in this fight, given their ability to deal great damage to Birkal's team as long as they avoid their specific counter.

And on this side we have Birkal, who has brought a mix of tanks and glass cannons. All of his mons do very well on neutral matchups, so he can keep the pressure all the time. Or something.

And now the coin toss! Heads = Mowtom, Tails = Birkal.

And Mowtom goes first!

Round Two
Birkal gets two hits in and loses Frogadier. While Mowtom got the first KO, the frog managed to deal tons of damage before going down, so Birkal is in no losing position. Gunk Shot poison also triggers, which can be good or bad since it does activate Quick Feet. Will Mowtom be able to take advantage of the second order he's getting and recover some ground HP wise (and, soon, matchup wise)?

Round Three.
I 100% did not missed that you posted. I swear.
Also, since old sig items, you might want to check here.
Leaf Stone: The affected Pokemon enters battle with Overgrow activated. Enhances Chlorophyll to triple (3x) the affected Pokemon's Speed when activated. Increases the Base Attack Power of all attacks with "Leaf" in their name by two (2). Increases the Pokemon's highest true base stat (e.g. 130 Atk) of Attack, Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense by one (1) Rank. If the highest true base stat is tied, each Rank is raised.

Round Four.
Yeah, I'm late again. Sorry.

Anyway, Birkal gets to snag his first KO, but Victreebel is now weak and under cooldown. On the other hand, Mowtom's Granbull is also as good as dead (or would but that Quick Feet means it may be able to get a hit in), and both players still have two fresh Pokémon to use. It is still anyone's game.
Action One

Victreebel used Sucker Punch!
Crit (<= 625) = 5938: NO
(8 + 7.5 - 4.5) = 11 Dmg
-6 EN

Yanmega used Air Slash!
Crit (<625) = 6585: NO
(8 + 3 + 9 - 4.5 + 1) * 1.5 = 24.75 Dmg
-5 EN

Action Two

Victreebel used Sucker Knock (or something I have no imagination for names)!
Crit (<= 625 ) = 859: NO
(8*0.5 + 10 + 7.5 4.5) = 17 Dmg
Yanmega's Rare Candy was knocked off!
Yanmega fainted!
-25.5 EN

Victreebel's Spe drop decayed!

Summary:
Victreebel: -25 HP (24.75), -32 EN (31.5)
Yanmega: -26 HP (28, KO), -5 EN

Cooldown (Sludge Bomb) | Sludge Bomb | Leaf Storm

If Encore on A3, Dodge that action.
If Primeape is in the evasive stage of a damaging / evasive move when you would act, Chill on the first instance and Ingrain on the second.
If Primeape is under the effects of a protective / evasive move when you would act, Chill that action.
