It had always been interesting, the way in which Gyms come and go. Indeed, it was only 10 years ago when it would've been odd for anyone to consider Castelia City hosting the Electric Gym, but it was now. The HMS Tesla stands proudly in the port, although it normally sails a mile away from the port for the purpose of battles. The ship is a fairly standard ship, from the Falklands era. It has been fitted to accommodate battles, and notably on the main deck you can see what appears to be a giant crown - 4 golden arches curve around to support a giant gemstone above the deck.

Entering the ship, you immediately enter what appears to be a relatively fancy restaurant, quite busy. Looking around, there appears to be a window viewing the arena directly, as well as several plasma screens showing the currently empty arena. As you look around, you're greeted by a man in yellow and black attire.

"Hello there, welcome aboard the HMS Tesla. Are you here for the restaurant or the gym? The Gym? Well, this is special, the guests tonight will get a lovely show. We'll probably be ready to battle in about half an hour or so, so until then feel free to sit down and order a coffee."

Indeed, the ship does get rather full, and as the sun sets the ship begins to move out to sea. As you finish your coffee, the man returns - at this stage, you're fairly certain this is the gym leader. You're beckoned outside, and see the arena is stationed below the crown shape. However, you can't take in the beauty before the leader speaks again...

"Emolga, give us some light will ya!"

An Emolga pops out of the leader's Pokéball, and sends a small shot of lighting at the gem in the centre of the crown. It absorbs the electricity and lights up, revealing itself to actually be a giant ThunderStone. Impressive...

"Now then, a few things before we begin. Whenever you send out a Pokémon this giant rock will zap the item. Don't worry about it, it'll be perfectly safe. It just prevents it from being a drag for when your team is moving around. We also have plants and grass available on the arena as you should see, not to mention the small amount of water that surrounds this ship. You'll also note that this ship, whilst much of it has been replaced and altered, is still of British origin and has brought the weather along with it..."

The leader clicks his fingers, and on cue a light rain smothers the arena.

"Finally, good luck, and make sure you provide a good show!"
  • All Pokémon who benefit from the item ThunderStone instantly gain the effect.
  • No Pokémon is treated as holding an item for the sake of Acrobatics BAP.
  • During "Clear" weather, a light rain falls, which acts as normal rain, except with only ±1 BAP on Water/Fire Moves
  • There is no restriction on natural substances (Natural water, Grass, Rocks, etc.) to attack with.

Heya folks! After a very long wait, we finally get to see a match between Dogfish44 and tavok. Seriously, the poor guys have been waiting 2 months for this. That's like, 3 updates of a TLR (4 if you're lucky), or 1 round of Geodude6 ordering in his gym (if you're lucky). But yeah, anyways, here we are! Will this match be worth the wait, or will it just be one of those stompings that Dogfish gives to most of his challengers? We'll soon find out...

Wow. Shocking. Dogfish brought the same team he always brings. See how I just used shocking there because it's the electric gym??? Using an overused and lame pun is about how expected this was.

But to be honest, I sympathize. I pretty much always bring the exact same Pokemon to my gym too! When you find something that works, why not? And it apparently does, since Dogfish has by far the most wins of any Gym Leader, even when you factor out all the scrubs that have challenged him. "Also he's only used Plasmanta in 2 battles so far so it's not the exact same team" if you wanna be pedantic (and this is ASB, so most of you do).

Challenger tavok:

Gambo (Snorlax (M))
Nature: Quiet (+SpA, -Spe)

Type:

- Normal:Normal STAB; +1 BAP on attacks that match dominant arena type after 3 actions. Unable to have Thrash or Outrage disrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:

- Inmunity (Passive): This Pokemon's body has an immensely strong immune response to venom and does not take poison damage when Poisoned. Toxic Poisoning will not do damage; however, it will continue to grow more severe.
- Thick Fat (Passive):This Pokemon has a great deal of extra fat or muscle that increases its resistance to extreme heat or extreme cold, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire- and Ice-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.)
- Gluttony (Unlocked) (Passive): This Pokemon devours healing and stat increasing berries at 50% health (flat) instead of 25% health (flat). It also regains two (2) HP per action when holding Leftovers.

One of Tavok's first Pokémon, Gambo is the MvP of the team, being the one with the most training and experience.

He has showed his worth against many opponents, winning most of the fights he's been at, even managing to KO two of the Battle Pike Queen's Pokémon in the team's first confrontation with her.

Gambo is quite curious, trying to understand everything that is around. He's also a quick learner, managing to perform many moves just after trying a couple times.

He doesn't talk much, but he has a deep trust in both his trainer and his partners. He's also the one most of his teammates look up to, and he supports all of them as much as he can.

If there is a tough fight coming, Gambo is the one to fall back on.

A quiet smug Spritzee, Lira was found when Tavok was traveling
through a town looking for a place to rest. The Spritzee, not being able
to resist the urge to show her beauty, tried to make Gambo and Randy fall
in love with her using her nice looks and an Aromatic Mist.

Gambo and Randy, however, were unimpressed, and just followed Tavok to a
nearby hotel.

Angry at this, Lira attacked them at their room, shooting Dazzling Gleams all around.
While Gambo covered Tavok, Randy rushed towards her and knocked her out.
She was caught inmediatly after.

In his stay with Tavok, Lira has learned that being modest is a good thing, and she
tries her best to not fall back into her old habits (although she can't help herself
when there are other girls around).

Lira quickly became a great asset for the team, helping the other Pokémon with her
healing abilities, which became even greater when she managed to evolve after a fight
with Matezoide's Pokémon.

When toggled, this Pokemon can energize all its attacks with a secondary effect (These are damaging moves that either lower the target's stats, raise the user's stats, or inflict a status condition on the target). The Base Attack Power of every move with a secondary effect increases by two (2), but they will never have their usual secondary effect.

- Sand Force (Pasive) (MEGA): This Pokemon thrives in Sandstorm conditions, using the power of the swirling sand to augment its Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-typed attacks. Each of this Pokemon's Rock-, Ground-, and Steel-typed attacks will have the Base Attack Power increased by two (2). Pokemon with this ability are immune to Sandstorm damage.

Hex was caught while tavok passed through a haunted forest. She scared the trainer and his companions multiple times, before being exposed and defeated by Gambo. Since then, she has been a great partner for the other Pokémon, showing to be smart and cunning but somewhat timid.
Hex evolved at the same time as Hyrule and Lira after a grueling fight with Matezoide, in which they were victorious. After evolution, Hex adquiered hands, which she uses to play pranks that she wasn't able to do before.

Our challenger, tavok, just recently became the Steel Gym Leader (and his gym opened today, something that also took almost 2 months). He's definitely not a bad player by any means, but let's see if he has the skill to win this battle. tavok's team looks pretty solid for doubles, and it looks like overall he's going for a strategy of just using good Pokemon as opposed to trying to win via type advantage (smart move, as the latter has been shown time and time again not to work all that well here). Gengar looks a little bit undertrained, especially when you pair it with a maxed Snorlax, but it looks like it has enough tricks to do its job.

Well, anyways, in doubles it's mostly based on who orders firstplays better that wins, not which team looks better on paper. Let's see which of these two is more luckyskilled!

"The game is afoot!"

Eelektross @ Expert Belt and Electivire @ Electirizer will lead for us.

Sorry, family. Didn't want to post by phone as this is doubles and kinda important.

"THIS IS FINALLY HAPPENING! Next time we plan on getting on a boat, we should get reservations."

"I agree. Time to get this started?"

"Indeed, but you're you'll have to wait this time. I don't want you out with that nasty Ion Deluge in play. Why don't we let Stalker and Bruno get us started?"
Bruno the Steelix @ Life Orb
"It will be an honor! Time to crush some little fellas!"
Stalker the Kitsunoh @ Enigma Berry
"Time for a small game."

Bruno the Steelix
Earth Power (Electivire) - Stealth Rock - Earth Power (Electivire)

- IF Electivire is under the effects of a P/E move when you would use Earth Power THEN Dig (Eelektross) instead.
- IF damaging fighting type combo AND directed at you THEN Protect and push actions back. Only do so once in a row.

Stalker the Kitsunoh
Imprison [Dig / Taunt / Knock Off] - Knock Off (Electivire) - Phantom Force (Electivire)

- IF Electivire is under the effects of a p/e move a2 THEN redirect to Eelektross.
- [ONCE] IF Electivire is ordered to use Barrier AND not A1 THEN redirect to Eelektross, pushing actions back.

I had these great orders and then noticed that Magnet Rise dissapeared from my kit's movepool :(

Seems like you have ignored frisk (and apparently you did r1, too...), so kit should have a little more hp.

I'll ask where Frisk was missed? I know I actually forgot my Light Rain, which is the +1 that's present on Kitsunoh's calc. I'll also say that it's not possible for Frisk to have been forgotten Round 1 - the only mon to hit Kitsunoh was Electivire, who's item provides a Rank Boost, which Frisk does not counteract.

Oh the light rain -.- i thought it was rare candy. Sorry about that. Also, fsr I thought frisk negated rank boosts (you're right, it does not).
