[Overview]

Emboar may look like a slower Entei at first glance, but if you look a little deeper you can will find that Emboar can be used in multiple different ways. While it's true that Entei is faster and has priority in the form of Extremespeed, Emboar can boasts a neutrality to Stealth Rock and a powerful secondary STAB. Emboar also carries multiple boosting moves and can run a variety of sets. However, team support to hide ameliorate pretty sure you can't "hide" the lack of Defense lol his lack of dDefenses and Speed is virtually almost certainly virtually implies not real required. All in all, Emboar requires good team support, but can help immensely if used right.

move 3: Superpower / Hammer Arm
move 4: Earthquake / Head Smash
item: Choice Band
ability: Blaze
nature: Adamant
evs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

With an Attack stat as high as his, and a Speed as low as his, Emboar is just screaming for a Choice Band set. Flare Blitz is the obligatory STAB move to crush bones and raze villages. Wild Charge is a huge boon to any Fire-type because it allows them to beat bulky Water-types, and Emboar is no exception. With it Wild Charge and the given Speed EVs, Emboar can outspeed and 2HKO 104 / 176 Impish Alomomola. The next move is up to personal preference. Superpower is the primary option, because Emboar will be switching out a lot and won't mind the stat drops as much. Also, the power difference is notable. The last moveslot is just for coverage. Although Eeither option only provides minimal additional coverage.

This type of set is best used as a pokemon who sets up the field "sets up" alone implies Emboar is Baton Passing or something for physical sweepers and breaks down walls. As you can see, Emboar can OHKO or 2HKO almost every wall in RU with the right move. Emboar is a Pokemon that requires prediction, because the wrong can give your opponent setup opportunities. Life Orb isn't an option on this set because Life Orb recoil paired with Flare Blitz and Wild Charge recoil will kill Emboar too quickly. Adamant nature provides Emboar with the raw power needed to destroy anything that gets in his path. The EVs are designed to provide maximum Attack, outspeed base 70s with no investment, and the rest is dumped in HP for bulk. Another spread of 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe is usable to ouspeed min Speed Gligar and Qwifish, but is not recommended. explain for what reasons

Grass Knot is an additional option in the last moveslot, but it really only hits Quagsire. Emboar pairs nicely with Durant because he resists Durant's Fire-type weakness and can break down Steel-types and other physical walls who might give Durant trouble. This set also pairs well with Moxie Honchkrow. Emboar can break down the walls, such as Steel-types, and resists Ice moves aimed at Honchrow. Emboar also lures in Earthquakes and other Ground-type moves for Honchkrow to switch in on. Because recoil will stack up, a teammate who can pass Wishes is a major blessing. Alomomola is a good choice in this regard because it (he?)passes Wishes, resists Water, and draws in Grass-type moves for Emboar to come in on. Ironically, Alomomola is also a great check to Emboar, because if he the Emboar user I'd really like to have Pokemon who can make predictions for me :) doesn't predict the switch, then Alomomola can wall him for days. One thing Emboar really enjoys is Sun support. In the sun, Emboar can raze entire continents with his Flare Blitz.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Flare Blitz
move 2: Wild Charge
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Head Smash / Earthquake
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Blaze
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Slapping a Choice Scarf on Emboar is a perfect way to solve his slowness Speed problem. With it, Emboar can outspeed everything in the tier without a Choice Scarf bar Accelgor. This However, this set still wields awesome power, however. Again, Flare Blitz is Emboar's main move to hit a lot of things super-effectively. Wild Charge is useful to take down bulky Waters, but it's now impossible to get the 2HKO on Alomomola without Choice Band's boost. The third slot is Superpower because Emboar will be switching out a lot, so it won't mind the drops as much, and Hammer Arm on a Choice Scarf set is just silly. The last slot, again, while providing minimal coverage, is Head Smash over rather than Earthquake due to Head Smash being able to hit Altaria for the OHKO.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

A set like this one is best used to revenge kill Pokemon that are still too strong healthy to be picked off by priority. Even with a Jolly nature, Emboar is still capable of doing his job of hitting hard. Choice Scarf and a Jolly nature are needed to outspeed base 120s and slower. The EVs are to provide maximum power and speed. The rest are dumped in HP.

Team support is required more on for this set than the Choice Band set, simply due to less power. Without Choice Band's boost, Emboar cannot 2HKO Alomomola with Wild Charge. A good teammate in this aspect is Choice Specs Sceptile, who can threaten Alomomola with Leaf Storm. Also, any Poison or Steel type can come in easily on Alomomola due to their immunity to Toxic. An example would be Weezing, who is immune to Toxic, takes little damage from Waterfall, and can Toxic Alomomola to get residual damage on her. Honchkrow is again a good teammate because Emboar can defeat the Rock and Steel types who would stop a Honchkrow sweep, and Honchkrow can switch in on the Ground-type attacks that Emboar draws. Wish support is much more required necessary on this set. Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash recoil will really start to build up, especially without much HP investment.

[SET]
name: Flame Charge
move 1: Flame Charge
move 2: Flare Blitz / Fire Blast
move 3: Wild Charge
move 4: Superpower / Earthquake / Head Smash
item: Expert Belt / Life Orb
ability: Blaze
nature: Jolly / Naive
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is Emboar's best chance at for completing a sweep. Flame Charge is necessary on this set to get Emboar's fat butt up to game speed. I lol'd Flare Blitz is Emboar's strongest Fire-type move, however Fire Blast can be used if you dislike all the recoil on a sweeper with minimal HP investment. Wild Charge is so Emboar isn't walled by bulky Water-types such as Alomomola. The last spot is for some coverage, and each move has its own pluses and minuses. Superpower is a very powerful move and provides the most coverage, but has a nasty side effect of lowering his Attack and Defense, which is not good for a sweeper. Earthquake provides some coverage and has no drawbacks whatsoever. Head Smash provides about as much coverage as Earthquake does and is quite strong, but has costly recoil and middling accuracy.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Expert Belt is the primary option, because Emboar can bluff a choice item and still gain possess power on a lot of his attacks, thanks to his great coverage. Also you don't get item recoil stacked with a recoil move. Life Orb can also be used if you want consistent power and don't mind if Emboar dies extremely fast quickly. The EVs and nature are to allow Emboar to outspeed base 120s and slower after one Flame Charge and outspeed scarfed base 100s after two. Obviously, you would pick Jolly if you chose Flare Blitz and Naive if you chose Fire Blast.

Because this set is a sweeper for sweeping, Emboar will need much more team support than it needed for the Choice sets. Stealth Rock is very much needed, because Emboar only gets one chance to sweep, and he would like his checks and counters worn down when he chooses to shine chooses to shine sounds awkward, but I guess it makes sense. Gligar is a hard stop to this set, taking minimal damage from Emboar's strongest move. Cryonogal makes a great teammate due to its ability to reliably check Gligar over and over again. Alomomola, and to a lesser extent, Qwilfish, are also checks to this set; they can stall out Emboar and make him kill himself with his own recoil. Galvantula is a good teammate in this regard, because he can take out the troublesome Water-types with a STAB Thunder. He can also scare off Gligar with a Hidden Power Ice.

[Other Options]

Emboar has a lot of other options, but just doesn't have the stats to do use them. Emboar could use a Bulk Up set, but lacks the dDefenses and a reliable recovery move. Heat Crash and Heavy Slam are interesting concepts, but are gimmicky and situational. Grass Knot could be used on either of the first two sets in the last slot, but the only notable Pokemon hit harder by it is Quagsire. Hidden Power Ice could also be used in the last slot to hit his main counter, Gligar. Scald is hilarious on a Fire-type, but is of no real use otherwise. Rhydon, I guess GK already hits that though? A Choice Specs set with Overheat, Grass Knot, Flamethrower, and a Hidden Power wouldn't be bad. A Curse set with Hammer Arm could work, but Emboar's pitiful defenses make it a poor idea. A RestTalk or Mono-Attacker with Curse and Flare Blitz is a possibility. However, Emboar's awful defenses and poor coverage on a single move hold him back. Emboar works very well with Trick Room support; just be sure to use 0 Speed IVs and EVs if you plan to use him that way.

[Checks and Counters]

Emboar is so powerful, one shouldn't expect this list to be long. Gligar isn't 2HKOd by any attack from Emboar except a Hidden Power Ice or a Sun-boosted Choice Band Flare Blitz and can either recoil stall out Emboar or just go straight for the Earthquake to get the KO. Intimidate Qwilfish can also cause problems, not getting 2HKOd by any attack except for a Choice Band Wild Charge. The best way to counter check Emboar is to revenge kill him. Faster Pokemon with STAB Water / Flying / Psychic / Ground moves can put Emboar in his place. Sharpedo, Swellow, Medicham, and Dugtrio all can handle Emboar nicely. Take note, however, that none of these Pokemon can switch into Emboar directly for fear of being OHKOd.

[Dream World]

Reckless would be bittersweet for Emboar. While the ramp up in power would be useful to get the 2HKO on Gligar, the recoil from Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash would be border-line suicidal.

I took kinda long to get to your request

-when listing types
Water-type
Grass-type
not
Water type

when there are multiple, Water- and Grass-type note the hyphens!
not
Water and Grass type

-IMO if you use "he" to refer to the main Pokemon, use "it" to refer to everything else. It's overall less confusing.

Grass Knot is an additional option in the last move slot, but it really only hits Quagsire. Steel-types and other physical walls who might give Durant trouble. In a similar manner, Moxie Honchkrow is a good partner. Emboar can both break down walls and resist the Ice-type moves aimed at Honchkrow. This set also pairs well with Moxie Honchkrow. Emboar can break down the walls, such as Steel-types, and resists the Ice-type moves aimed at Honchkrow. Emboar also lures in Earthquakes and other Ground-type moves for Honchkrow to switch in on. Because recoil will stack up, a teammate who that can pass Wishes is a major blessing. Alomomola is a good choice in this regard because it (he?)passes Wishes, resists Water-type moves, and draws in Grass-type moves for Emboar to come in on. Ironically, Alomomola is also a great check to Emboar, because if the Emboar user doesn't predict the switch, then Alomomola can wall him for days. One thing Emboar really enjoys is Sun support. In the sun, Emboar can raze entire continents with his Flare Blitz.
last two sentences a bit out of place

move 2: Wild Charge
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Head Smash / Earthquake
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Blaze
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Slapping a Choice Scarf on Emboar is a perfect way to solve his Speed problem. With a Choice Scarf, it, Emboar can outspeed every unboosted Pokemon in the tier bar Accelgor. everything in the tier without a Choice Scarf bar Accelgor. However, Furthermore, this set still wields awesome power. Again, Flare Blitz is Emboar's main move to hit a lot of opponents super effectively things super-effectively. Wild Charge is useful to take down bulky Waters, but it's now impossible to get the 2HKO on Alomomola without Choice Band's boost. The third slot is Superpower because Emboar will be switching out a lot, so it won't mind the drops as much, and;[semi-colon] Hammer Arm on a Choice Scarf set is just silly. Although Head Smash provides little additional coverage, it is the primary slash because it can OHKO Altaria. The last slot, again, while providing minimal coverage, is Head Smash rather than Earthquake due to Head Smash being able to hit Altaria for the OHKO.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

A set like this one is best used to revenge kill Pokemon that are still too healthy to be picked off by priority. Even with a Jolly nature, Emboar is still capable of doing his job of hitting hard. Choice Scarf and a Jolly nature are needed to outspeed base 120s and slower. The EVs are to provide maximum power and speed; the remainder is placed in HP. . The rest are dumped in HP.

Team support is required more for this set than the Choice Band set, simply due to Emboar's less power. Without Choice Band's boost, Emboar cannot 2HKO Alomomola with Wild Charge. A good teammate in this aspect is Choice Specs Sceptile, who which can threaten Alomomola with Leaf Storm. Also, any Poison or Steel type Poison- or Steel-type can come in easily on Alomomola due to their immunity to Toxic. An example would be Weezing, who which is immune to Toxic, takes little damage from Waterfall, and can Toxic Alomomola for residual damage on it. to get residual damage on her. Honchkrow is again a good teammate because Emboar can defeat the Rock- and Steel-types Rock and Steel types who would stop a Honchkrow sweep, and Honchkrow can switch in on the Ground-type attacks that Emboar draws. Wish support is much more necessary on this set. Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash recoil will really start to build up, especially without much HP investment.

[SET]
name: Flame Charge
move 1: Flame Charge
move 2: Flare Blitz / Fire Blast
move 3: Wild Charge
move 4: Superpower / Earthquake / Head Smash
item: Expert Belt / Life Orb
ability: Blaze
nature: Jolly / Naive
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is Emboar's best chance for completing a sweep. Flame Charge is necessary on this set to get Emboar's fat butt up to game speed. lol Flare Blitz is Emboar's strongest Fire-type move; however, , however Fire Blast can be used if you dislike recoil on a sweeper with minimal HP investment. Wild Charge is so Emboar isn't walled by bulky Water-types such as Alomomola. The last spot is for some coverage, and each move has its own pros and cons. Superpower is a very powerful move and provides the most coverage, but has a nasty side effect of lowering his Attack and Defense, which is not good for a sweeper. Earthquake provides some coverage and has no drawbacks whatsoever. Head Smash provides about as much coverage as Earthquake and is quite strong, but has costly recoil and middling accuracy.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Expert Belt is the primary option,[remove comma] because Emboar can bluff a choice item and still possess power on a lot of his attacks, thanks to his great coverage. Also, there is not item recoil stacked on the move recoil. you don't get item recoil stacked with a recoil move. However, Life Orb can also be used if you want consistent power and don't mind if Emboar dies extremely quickly. The EVs and nature are to allow Emboar to ourspeed base 120s and slower after one Flame Charge and outspeed scarfed base 100s after two. Obviously, you would pick Jolly if you chose Flare Blitz and Naive if you chose Fire Blast.

Because this set is for sweeping, Emboar will need much more team support than he will need needed for the Choice sets. Stealth Rock is necessary because Emboar will only have a chance to sweep once his checks and counters are eliminated. Gligar is a hard stop to this set, taking minimal damage from Emboar's strongest move. Cryonogal makes a great teammate due to its ability to reliably check Gligar over and over again. Alomomola, and,[comma] to a lesser extent, Qwilfish, are also checks to this set; they can stall out Emboar's recoil, killing him. and make him kill himself with his own recoil. Galvantula is a good teammate in this regard, because he it can take out the troublesome Water-types with a STAB Thunder. He It can also scare off Gligar with a Hidden Power Ice.

[Other Options]

Emboar has a lot of other options, but just doesn't have the stats to use them. Emboar could use a Bulk Up set, but lacks the defenses and a reliable recovery move. Heat Crash and Heavy Slam are interesting concepts, but are gimmicky and situational. maybe explain what they are Grass Knot could be used on either of the first two sets in the last slot, but the only notable Pokemon hit harder by it is Quagsire. Hidden Power Ice could also be used in the last slot to hit his main counter, Gligar. Scald is hilarious on a Fire-type, but is of no real use otherwise. A Choice Specs set with Overheat, Grass Knot, Flamethrower, and a Hidden Power wouldn't be bad. A Curse set with Hammer Arm could work, but Emboar's pitiful defenses make this it a poor idea. A RestTalk or Mono-Attacker with Curse and Flare Blitz is a possibility. However, Emboar's awful defenses and poor coverage on with a single move hold him back. Emboar works very well with Trick Room support; just be sure to use 0 Speed IVs and EVs with a Brave nature if you plan to use him that way.

[Checks and Counters]

Emboar is so powerful, that one shouldn't expect this list to be long. Gligar isn't 2HKOd by any attack from Emboar except a Hidden Power Ice or a Sun-boosted Choice Band Flare Blitz, and can either recoil stall out Emboar or just go straight for the Earthquake to get the KO. Intimidate Qwilfish can also cause problems, as it is not 2HKOed by any attack except Choice Band Wild Charge. not getting 2HKOd by any attack except for a Choice Band Wild Charge. The best way to check Emboar is to revenge kill him. Faster Pokemon with STAB Water / Flying / Psychic / Ground moves can put Emboar in his place. Sharpedo, Swellow, Medicham, and Dugtrio all are examples of such. can handle Emboar nicely. Take note, however, that none of these Pokemon can switch into Emboar directly for fear of being OHKOd.

[Dream World]

Reckless would be bittersweet for Emboar. While the ramp up increase in power would be useful to get the 2HKO on Gligar, the recoil from Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash would be border-line suicidal.

I know this has passed QC, but in OO you talk about both a Curse and a Bulk Up set. Shouldn't Curse simply be removed, being inferior to Bulk Up in every way (for Emboar)?

[Overview]

Emboar may look like a slower Entei at first glance, but upon further examination, you will find that Emboar can be used in multiple ways he actually has a lot to set himself apart. While it's true that Entei is faster and has priority in the form of ExtremeSpeed, Emboar boasts a neutrality to Stealth Rock and, a powerful secondary STAB, as well as access to multiple boosting moves, allowing it to run a variety of sets. Emboar also carries multiple boosting moves and can run a variety of sets. However, team support to ameliorate his lack of defenses and Speed is almost certainly required. All in all, Emboar requires a good deal of team support, but can help immensely if used right.

With an Attack stat as high as his, and a Speed stat as low as his such a high Attack stat and low Speed, Emboar is just screaming for a Choice Band set. Flare Blitz is the obligatory STAB move to crush bones and raze villages with. Wild Charge is a huge boon to any Fire-type because it allows them to beat bulky Water-types, and Emboar is no exception; with Wild Charge and the given Speed EVs, Emboar can outspeed and 2HKO 104 / 176 Impish Alomomola. The next move is up to personal preference. Superpower is the primary option, because Emboar will be switching in and out a lot and won't mind the stat drops as much. Hammer Arm could also be used, but the power difference is notable. The last move slot is for coverage basically a filler option, though neither Earthquake nor Head Smash provide substantial additional coverage.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set is Emboar's best chance for completing pulling off a sweep. Flame Charge is necessary on this set to get boost Emboar's Speed to respectable levels fat butt up to game speed. Flare Blitz is Emboar's strongest Fire-type move; however, Fire Blast can be used if you dislike recoil on a sweeper with minimal HP investment. Wild Charge is so ensuresEmboar isn't walled by bulky Water-types such as Alomomola. The last spot is for some coverage, and each move has its own pros and cons. Superpower is a very powerful move and provides the most coverage, but has a nasty side effect of lowering his Emboar's Attack and Defense, which is not good for a sweeper. Earthquake provides some lesser coverage, but and has no drawbacks whatsoever. Head Smash provides about as much coverage as Earthquake and is quite strong, but has costly recoil and middling accuracy.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Expert Belt is the primary option because Emboar can bluff a Choice item and still possess power on a lot of his attacks, thanks to his great coverage; the lack of recoil also helps immensely. Also there is not item recoil stacked on move recoil. However, Life Orb can be used if you want consistent power and don't mind if Emboar dies extremely quickly. The EVs and nature are to allow Emboar to outspeed base 120s and slower after one Flame Charge and outspeed scarfed all Choice Scarf users with base 100 Speed base 100s after two. Obviously, you would pick Jolly if you chose Flare Blitz and Naive if you chose Fire Blast.

Because this set is for sweeping, Emboar will need much more team support than he will need for the Choice sets. Stealth Rock is necessary because Emboar will only have a chance to sweep once his checks and counters are eliminated. Gligar is a hard stop to this set, taking minimal damage from even Flare Blitz Emboar's strongest move. Cryonogal makes a great teammate due to its ability to reliably check Gligar over and over again. Alomomola, and, to a lesser extent, Qwilfish, are also checks to this set; they can stall out Emboar's recoil, killing him with just the recoil damage piled up. Galvantula is a good teammate in this regard, because it can take out the troublesome Water-types with a STAB Thunder. and It can also scare off Gligar with a Hidden Power Ice.

[Other Options]

Emboar has a lot of other options, but just doesn't have the stats to use them. Emboar It could use a Bulk Up set, but lacks the defenses and a reliable recovery move to run this effectively. Heat Crash and Heavy Slam are interesting concepts, but because the damage is based on the difference between Emboar's and the opponent's weight, they are gimmicky and situational at best. An all-out offensive Life Orb set with four attacking moves can be used, but Emboar would die just too quickly to the heavy recoil. A Choice Specs set with Overheat, Grass Knot, Flamethrower, and a Hidden Power wouldn't be bad. Emboar works very well with Trick Room support; just be sure to use 0 Speed IVs and EVs with a Brave nature if you plan to use him that way.

[Checks and Counters]

Emboar is so powerful that one shouldn't expect this list to be long. Gligar isn't 2HKOed by any attack from of Emboar's attacks except a Hidden Power Ice or a sun-boosted Choice Band Flare Blitz, and can either recoil stall out Emboar with the recoil damage or just go straight for the Earthquake to get the KO with STAB Earthquake. Intimidate Qwilfish can also cause problems, as it is not 2HKOed by any attack except Choice Band Wild Charge. Outside of these, the best way to check Emboar is to revenge kill him. Faster Pokemon with STAB Water / Flying / Psychic / Ground moves can put Emboar in his place a hard place; Sharpedo, Swellow, Medicham, and Dugtrio are great examples of such. Take note, however, that none of these Pokemon can switch into Emboar directly for fear of being OHKOed.

[Dream World]

Reckless would be bittersweet for Emboar. While the increase in power would be useful to 2HKO Gligar, the increased recoil from Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Head Smash would be border-linesuicidal.

GP 2 / 2
Updated, and i just had a few questions about some of the wording of the phrases. A couple sounded a tad awkward.

"Earthquake is also an option for the slightly harder hit on Quilfish, though it thus little else." It was at the end of Set comments for the choice scarf set. It just sounds weird to me.

Also, "Gligar isn't
2HKOed by any from of Emboar's attacks except..." This is the second sentence of the Checks and Counters section.
Should that be "form" instead of "from"?

though it does little else

talk about rhyming....

by any from of Emboar's attacks...

''from'' should have been in red, sorry about that.

Another important I missed in my check - Contrary to what V0X said, you should stick to only ''it'' or ''he'' when referring to Pokemon, not both - so convert all the ''he'' and ''him'' to ''it.''

Pretty sure I switched all the genders to neuter. So now this is officially done then
