[OVERVIEW]
  • Boasting good overall stats, Entei is a solid choice of Pokemon for when you need a Fire attacker that can take a few hits and still mantain good offense. Entei makes itself worthwhile by having respectable bulk and Sacred Fire burns, he's also useful on bulkier teams that need damage control coming from a fire type.
  • Possessing a limited but solid offensive movepool, Entei is a great attacker. Sacred Fire, Entei's signatura move, has a solid 100 BP and a 50% chance to burn, scaring away physical attackers. Other moves on his movepool are Flare Blitz, Stone Edge and Iron Head. Entei also has Extreme Speed, one of the best priority moves in the game, with +2 priority.
  • Entei is a good sun counter, being able to OHKO both Charizard-Y and Venusaur whilst taking little damage from their attacks. Adding to that, when in possession of Safety Goggles, Entei can dodge Sleep Powder and get the KO.
  • Consequently, he also loses to other things every Fire would aswell, Lando-T puts a cold stop on Entei (Albeit switching in on Sacred Fire is risky), Entei also can't touch Heatran and Diancie, and both hit him hard with Earth Power.
  • While Entei has no spread moves that allow it to hit past redirectors (bar Snarl), Sacred Fire and Stone Edge allow it to hit the 3 most common ones (Jirachi, Amoonguss and Togekiss), and with Safety Goggles, Entei can just ignore Amoonguss completely.
  • Entei's stats are nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either. On the offensive side he has an ok 115 Attack stat, which is nothing to laugh at, but nothing out of the ordinary. On the defensive side of things, he has good 115/85/75 bulk, that allows Entei to come in a few hits, but nothing Super Effective.
  • These average stats and limited movepool are what keeps Entei out of viability, if you want a strong and fast Fire type, you first think off Talonflame, as it has an easier time dealing with Grasses and is more splashable, if you desire a Fire type that can setup Substitute and spam moves, you think of Heatran because he has a useful secondary typing. Entei does a bunch of things ok, but there are Pokemon that simply do it better.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Sacred Fire is Entei's main STAB move, giving him a power and spammable offensive option while providing a good chance of burning.
  • Stone Edge is used to hit Charizard-Y and Talonflame primarly, but can be used to hit some other things neutrally.
  • The 3rd move slot is Extreme Speed, it allows Entei to become a strong late game cleaner, with good +2 priority. This +2 priority allows him to outspeed other priority users, such as Talonflame and Bisharp.
  • Protect is a staple move in doubles, we use it to stall out field conditions, allow you to defend yourself while your partner deals with a threat, scouts for moves, among other things.

Set Details
========
  • The EV spread maximizes Entei's attack and speed, Adamant is run for the extra bits of power Entei needs, whilst Jolly is used to outspeed Kangaskhan.
  • Unfortunately Game Freak won't give us Flash Fire, so we have to stick with Pressure as our ability.
  • Safety Goggles is chosen as the item to allow Entei to ignore the effects of Powder moves, most notably Spore, Sleep Powder, and Rage Powder. This, in turn, allows Entei to be a better Sun check and an even more solid answer to Grass-types such as Breloom and Amoonguss
Usage Tips
========
  • Entei is an offensive Pokemon, and as with any other you should always be looking to attack.
  • Entei is best used to take care of specific "endeavors" that you may need done, such as burning Kangaskhan or removing Charizard-Y.
  • Entei is best used in the early game, where it can spam Sacred Fire and fish for burns. Over the course of the game, the burn damage will stack up, helping you knock out certain Pokemon.
  • Sacred Fire's burn chance help Entei get past Focus Sash users like Bisharp, Weavile and Deoxys-Attack.
  • Entei can come in on a predicted Spore or Sleep Powder and immediatly threaten the user.

Team Options
========
  • Entei is one of the few Sun counters around, so Pokemon that have trouble dealing with Sun - such as Kyurem-Black - make for great partners. Entei is also great at removing Grass types from the field, Water types that can take advantage of that and further support Entei with their moves are good partners. Notable examples are Suicune and Keldeo.
  • Entei cannot reliably deal with Heatran and Ground users, so Pokemon that can deal with those are appreciated. Noteworthy examples are Keldeo and Suicune.
  • Wide Guard users like Aegislash are appreciated, as they stop Earthquake and Rock Slide from hitting Entei.
  • Entei has a lot of trouble with Water types, having no meaningful way of damaging them. Grass and Electric types that can beat said Waters make for great partners. Thundurus and Amoonguss are good examples: Thundurus provides speed control with Thunder Wave and hits hard with Thunderbolt, it can also beat Mega Diancie with Flash Cannon, while Amoonguss provides redirection and Spore.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Shuca Berry can be used to eat an Earthquake from Landorus-T and fish a burn with Sacred Fire.
  • Sitrus Berry can be used for more immediate longetivity.
  • Iron Head can be used to catch Diancie on the switch.
  • Life Orb can be used alongside Extreme Speed for extra power.
  • Snarl is a good option that allows Entei to hit through substitutes and drop the opponents SpA, making it a solid debuffer.
  • Substitute can be used to make Entei a solid cleaner, allowing him to aim for burns on threats that would KO it. When using Substitute, Leftovers is used for the passive healing.
  • A set using Psych Up and Extreme Speed can be used alongside Azumarill with Belly Drum for a +6 Entei, however because of the set's niche nature and how it plays fairly similarly to the first set it's not mentioned.

Checks and Counters
===================

  • **Typing Advantage**: Being a solely a fire type, Entei possesses all the weaknesses that all other normal Fire types would have. Water types such as Rotom-W, Suicune and Keldeo are a big pain for Entei, as he can't hit them reliably with his STABs and has no coverage to do so. While Entei doesnt really have a problem with Steel types, Heatran is a pain because of Flash Fire, stopping Entei from using his STAB and forcing him into Stone Edge. Most Dragon types can take a fire STAB, but will get chunked by Entei's coverage moves, such dragons are Latios and Hydreigon. Rock types also pose a big threat, while Terrakion and Diancie don't want to come in on a Sacred Fire and get burned, they can outspeed and do lots of damage to Entei with their rock stabs. Ground types are also a problem, they can OHKO Entei with Earthquake, but they risk getting burned on the switch or if outsped. Notable ground types are the Landorus formes and Rhyperior.
  • **Intimidate**: Being a physical attacker, Intimidate is detrimental to Entei's success. Notable users of intimidate are Landorus-Therian, Scrafty and Gyarados.
  • **Opposing Weather**: While Entei thrives in sun and in beating sun due to being a Fire type, in Rain it's exactly the opposite. Rain will stop you from using your STABs reliably and adding to that, most Pokemon in rain teams have an edge on fire types, making the archetype even more problematic for Entei. Notable Rain Pokemon are Politoed, Ludicolo, Kingdra and Mega Swampert.
  • **Speed**: While Entei doesnt have abysmal bulk like other Pokemon, he has just ok speed and it still cannot take a lot of hits reliably, so Pokemon that can outspeed and kill/chunk Entei are good checks for him. Notable examples are Latios, Mega Kangaskhan (Fake Out + Return), Keldeo, Terrakion and Mega Diancie.

[OVERVIEW]
Boasting good overall stats, Entei is a solid choice that can take a few hits and maintain good offensive pressure. Entei is a great attacker that makes itself worthwhile with its respectable bulk and its solid offensive movepool; specifically, Sacred Fire, Entei's signature move, has a solid 100 Base Power and a 50% chance to burn, deterring physical attackers from switching in. Entei also is a good sun counter, being able to OHKO both Mega Charizard Y and Venusaur while taking little damage from their attacks. Adding to that, when holding Safety Goggles, Entei is immune to Sleep Powder and can get the KO on Venusaur. However, it loses to threats most other Fire-types would lose to as well. Landorus-T is a cold stop to Entei, although switching in on Sacred Fire is risky for it. Entei also can't touch Heatran and Mega Diancie, while they hit it hard with Earth Power and Diamond Storm, respectively. While Entei has no spread moves to bypass redirectors, besides the suboptimal Snarl, Sacred Fire and Stone Edge allow it to KO the three most common redirectors, namely Jirachi, Amoonguss, and Togekiss. With Safety Goggles, Entei can just ignore Amoonguss completely. Be wary, though, as Entei has difficulties switching into attacks it doesn't resist. Lastly, Entei is sadly often outclassed by other Pokemon because of its average stats and movepool, as it faces competition from Talonflame as a strong physical attacker and from Heatran as a Substitute attacker.

Moves
========
Sacred Fire is Entei's go-to attacking move and has a chance to cripple the target with a burn. Stone Edge is used to hit Mega Charizard Y and Talonflame primarily. The third moveslot is for Exteme Speed, which allows Entei to become a strong late-game cleaner, because its +2 priority allows it to outspeed other priority users, such as Talonflame and Bisharp. Set Details
========
The EV spread maximizes Entei's Attack and Speed. Adamant is used to obtain maximum power, while Jolly allows it to Speed tie with fully invested base 100 Speed Pokemon, such as Mega Kangaskhan. However, keep in mind that a Jolly nature is illegal when using Extreme Speed. Unfortunately, Flash Fire isn't released, so Pressure has to be used. Safety Goggles is chosen as the item to allow Entei to ignore the effects of powder moves, such as Spore, Sleep Powder, and Rage Powder. This allows Entei to check typical users of such moves, such as Breloom, Amoonguss, and Venusaur.

Usage Tips

for the whole analysis: "you" and other second person things are used quite a bit. you can't do that in an analysis, so replace this with third person stuff. ex: "when a fire-type attacker is needed on a team" instead of "when you need a fire-type attacker"

OVERVIEW:

it's mainly just too wordy lellers
  • ctrl f "solid" gave me 3 results in this paragraph alone, please use another adjective ;_;
  • Remove mention of Sacred Fire's base power and specific 50% burn chance, just say the burn chance deters physical attackers from switching in
  • Remove the mention of the coverage moves, I don't think it's important enough to put in the overview.
  • Remove the whole "it doesn't have outstanding stats" stuff around halfway through the paragraph, the reader can look at the stats for themselves. I'm fine w/ keeping the "good overall stats" thing at the beginning though.
  • The whole last part about "alternative mons to use" should probably be rewritten to make it more concise, just say it faces competition from x and x
  • Don't say Entei is unviable bc it is and you're trying to sorta sell this mon
MOVES:
  • Say somethin like "Sacred Fire is a powerful STAB move that has a chance to cripple the target with a burn" instead of the generic "wow its a good stab move omgs" fluff
  • Give examples of the other things SEdge hits neutrally that you don't wanna hit with Sacred Fire (i literally can't think of anything off the top of my head so if you can't either just remove this)
  • Condense the ESpeed thing into one sentence and mention how it can pick off weakened mons
SET DETAILS:
  • Adamant is used for the extra bits of damage Entei needs -> whattafuk
  • Just say "maximum power" or whatever
  • Jolly doesn't make it outspeed Kang lol, saying "Jolly allows it to speed tie with max speed base 100s like Mega Kangaskhan" is much more accurate
  • Remove the part about checking sun and put Venu in the grass-type examples
USAGE TIPS:
  • Entei is an offensive Pokemon, and as with any other offensive Pokemon you should always be looking to attack. dude rly this sentence blows
  • Say "it helps rack up chip damage throughout the game" instead of getting damage on certain pokemon
  • 252 SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Entei: 372-438 (100.2 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO - Sacred Fire does not help you against Deo-A when it just kills you lol
OTHER OPTIONS:
  • You can also use other items on Entei - no shit. remove this part
  • Saying Life Orb works well with ESpeed is really weird because you use it on every set anyways. Just say Life orb boosts power or somethin like that
  • Vocalizing how I want the Psych Up thing written is more trouble than it's worth for both of us so I'll just rewrite it
  • A set using Psych Up can be paired with a Belly Drum Azumarill for the potential of an extremely threatening +6 Attack Entei with strong priority. However, the set is extremely niche and requires a lot of set up.
C&C:
  • Remove the first sentence in the typing advantage thing
  • Remove the part where it says "Entei doesn't have a problem with most steel-types" cuz it's just fluff
  • "terrak and diancie get burned on switchin" -> "risk the burn on the switch in"
  • just say "Intimidate reduces its offensive potential"
  • Entei doesn't have a poor speed tier :( dont LIE TO THE MASSES

Entei has a lot of trouble with Water-types because it has no meaningful way of damaging them; therefore, Grass- and Electric-types that can beat Water-types make for great partners. Thundurus and Amoonguss are good examples; the former provides speed control with Thunder Wave, (AC) and hits hard with Thunderbolt, (AC) and can also beat Mega Diancie with Flash Cannon, while the latter provides redirection with Rage Powder and boasts the ability to put threats to sleep with Spore.

Shuca Berry can be used to eat an Earthquake from Landorus-T and fish (nothing wrong with "fish for a burn", but you also say it later in this paragraph, so cutting down on repetition) try to get a burn with Sacred Fire. Sitrus Berry can also be used for more immediate longevity. Life Orb can be used for extra power. Other moves can be useful too, such as Iron Head, which can be used to catch out Mega Diancie on the switch, (AC) and Snarl, which allows Entei to hit through Substitutes and drop the foe's Special Attack, making it a significant debuffer. Substitute can be used to make Entei a solid cleaner, allowing it to fish for burns on threats that would KO it. When using Substitute, Leftovers should be used for the passive healing. A set using Psych Up can be paired with a Belly Drum Azumarill for the potential of an extremely threatening +6 Attack Entei with strong priority. However, the set is extremely niche and requires a lot of setup.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Typing Advantage**: Water-types such as Rotom-W, Suicune, and Keldeo are a big pain for Entei, as it can't hit them reliably with its STAB attack and has no coverage moves for them. Heatran is a pain because of Flash Fire, which stops Entei from using its STAB attack and forcinges it into using Stone Edge. Most Dragon-types such as Latios and Hydreigon can take a Fire-type STAB attack, but they will get chunked by Entei's coverage moves. Rock-types pose a big threat to Entei; even though Terrakion and Mega Diancie don't want to come into a Sacred Fire and risk the burn, they can outspeed Entei and do lots of damage to with their Rock-type STAB attacks. Ground-types such as the Landorus formes are a problem as well, as they can OHKO Entei with Earthquake or Earth Power. However, they still risk getting burned by Sacred Fire if they switch in or are outsped.

**Intimidate**: Due to Entei being a physical attacker, Intimidate reduces its offensive potential. Notable Intimidate users are Landorus-T, Scrafty, and Gyarados.

**Opposing Weather**: While Entei thrives in sun due to being a Fire-type, rain is extremely detrimental for it, as it will weaken its STAB attack significantly; additionally, most Pokemon typically found on rain teams such as Politoed, Ludicolo, and Kingdra have an edge over Fire-types, making rain an even more difficult matchup for Entei.

**Speed**: While Entei has decent bulk, it has an okay Speed tier at best and can't take a lot of hits reliably. Therefore, Pokemon that can outspeed and KO or chunk Entei are strong checks to it. Notable examples are Latios, Keldeo, Terrakion, Mega Diancie, and Mega Kangaskhan.

Moves
========
Protect is a staple move in Doubles. It is used to stall out field conditions, allowing Entei to defend itself while its partner deals with a threat and to scout for the opponent's moves, among many other uses.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========
Entei is good at specific endeavors, such as burning Mega Kangaskhan and removing Mega Charizard Y. Entei is best used in the early-game, when it can spam Sacred Fire and fish for burns. Over the course of the game, the burn damage will stack up, which helps Entei KO the foe later in the game. Sacred Fire's massive burn chance can also help Entei get past Focus Sash users like Bisharp and Weavile. Entei can also come into a predicted Spore or Sleep Powder, and considering powder users are generally Grass- and Bug-types, it can immediately threaten the user.

Team Options
========
Entei is a strong sun counter, so Pokemon that have trouble dealing with that archetype, such as Kyurem-B, can make for great partners. Entei is also great at removing Grass-types from the field. Water-types such as Keldeo and Suicune can take advange of that and further support Entei with their moves, as together they have strong offensive synergy. Entei can't reliably deal with Heatran and Ground-types, so Pokemon that can deal with those threats are appreciated; again, Water-types such as Suicune and Keldeo are good at this. Wide Guard users such as Aegislash are appreciated, as they can stop Earthquake and Rock Slide from hitting Entei. Meloettaaa that's not really what "implement with the Reply button" means, what you put in the hide tag should be in the OP. If there are sections that you want P Squared to check again because you had to rewrite them to clarify something, then you can point that out in your "implemented" post, but otherwise I wanna get this done so that it can be uploaded !_!
