Well, no matter what kind of insufferable, awful planning got us here, someone has to ref this battle. The show must go on, as they always say. Doubles are a bit harder to determine matchup-wise, because sometimes, typing just doesn't matter when your opponents gang up on you and KO you in one round. I'm not sure if that will happen here, but it's always a possibility.

July starts off this intense battle with--chilling? That's weird. Dimentio follows up with Trick, switching his item with July's. This must have been some sort of pre-meditated exchange. How cute, baby Pokemon being so nice to each other. It almost makes me forget we're fighting outside a creepy castle. Rainman isn't fond of all of these nice exchanges, though; he starts to lay on damage with Flamethrower, singing Zenith pretty well. Zenith responds by lobbing a ball of Toxic fluids at Dimentio, who really doesn't appreciate it.

The feisty Chimchar, continuing her friendly engagement, gives Dimentio an Encore, which forces him to Trick again, switching those items back to their original owners. They sure are having a good time over there...Rainman clearly must be jealous, so he shoots another Flamethrower at Zenith, which results in a painful burn. Zenith coalesces her poisons into a fierce Venoshock, which rattles Dimentio for great damage!

Looks like July's done playing around and wants to turn up the heat! A huge Fire Blast hits Dimentio spot on! Poor little guy, being betrayed like that. He's still forced to Trick again, too, remembering the good times with a tear in his eye, when he wasn't poisoned and covered in fire, and July was smiling and having fun. Now, she's nothing but pain and broken promises. Rainman doesn't care about all that drama, though. He doesn't really care about anything besides hitting Zenith with more Flamethrowers. To his credit, it's working pretty well. What's also working well is Zenith's Venoshock. Dimentio is just...not having a good day...

Sheesh, I really feel bad for him...can we, like...prepare a nice bed for him when this is all over? And maybe some therapy?

Brutal status conditions, painful altercation, nefarious betrayal...this isn't the happy-go-lucky LC battle I thought it was going to be. Maybe the spooky courtyard IS a good area for this fight...

With the heart-breaking treachery of last round still fresh in our minds, we move on to what will most likely be two Pokemon going down. Let's see what sparks fly this round!

Dimentio has been broken, his heart shattered, his spirits down. He doesn't even want to attack anymore, he can only Dodge his inevitable fate. And despite this, his efforts weren't enough. July comes in fast with a Fake Out, disrupting his concentration, and making him deeply remember the dark extent of this betrayal. The terror on his face, the sadistic glee on hers...it's painful to watch. But, hey! Rainman hits July with a Thunder Wave, paralyzing her and...making that face permanent...sheesh...Even Zenith gets in on the action, and despite Dimentio's truest efforts, this Venoshock hits dead center, and Dimentio goes down.

Now that the soap opera is over, Rainman goes back to what he does best: using Flamethrower on Zenith. It hurts, but the little bug is still hanging in there. Speaking of that, Zenith lobs a Toxic at Rainman this time, badly poisoning the poor Dratini. Payback is payback, I guess. July comes through her paralysis and claws at Rainman with Fury Swipes, hitting a lot of times. There's no end to her anger, huh?

Guess what? Rainman used Flamethrower again. This time, though, it hits critically, and Zenith couldn't take it this time, so she's down as well! This leaves July and Rainman to face off alone, and what better way to re-affirm this than with another Fury Swipes, which hits for average damage.

With both Dimentio and Zenith down, both trainers need replacements. July has a crippling Speed loss from paralysis, while Rainman is poisoned, so there's really no clear indicator of who's coming out on top of this matchup. On with the show!

Both sides send out their final Pokemon: Elizabeth has her trusty Snugglow, Sabre, and Toon has his favorite [4]6HP, Chun-Li! What? What do you mean no one's going to get that? Who cares, I'm rolling with it.

Sabre really digs how Rainman looks, and he shows his undying love and appreciating by blinding the Dratini (and his partner) with a Dazzling Gleam. You may want to hold out on blowing this much energy at once if you want to get anywhere, Sabre--what? Of course I can say that, do you know what time it is? Anyway, it hurts both of Toon's Pokemon pretty badly, since they're both weak to it. Chun-Li responds with a spread move of her own--Rock Slide--which tumbles down and causes July to flinch! Err, Psycho Cut. Yeah, that. Sabre isn't too fond of the damage he's taking, that's for sure. Rainman sneaks in a Flamethrower to do some mediocre damage to Sabre, and July sneaks in a Fire Blast to sear Chun-Li.

That Snugglow sure loves showing off his Dazzling Gleam. This is the third time, and Rainman is probably going to faint before he can return Sabre's love. Chun-Li is hurting, too, so she slams the ground and causes another Rock Slide, and once again, July flinches from the impact. How unfortunate! Perhaps this is karma for her awful betrayal against Dimentio? Rainman gets one more Dragon Rush off before the round ends, putting some solid damage on.

Here we are in another exciting round of this doubles match! Here, July the Chimchar and Sabre the Snugglow face off against Rainman the Dratini and Chun-Li the Meditite! Toon's side looks pretty beat up, but they're still pressing on. Sabre still can't take his eyes off Rainman...

As he senses an Extreme Speed coming, Sabre Protects himself, but the barrier is quickly broken by Chun-Li's Feint, opening Sabre up for Rainman's blazingly fast Extreme Speed + Dragon Rush combo...which misses by a hair! Is this true love? Can Rainman simply not allow himself to cause Sabre to faint? The sorrow in the Dratini's eyes is telling to the entire audience, but they soon close as he is KO'd by his own exhaustion. Meanwhile, July hits Chun-Li with a Fire Blast. Nothing really special there.

In one last show of affection (and possibly revenge), Sabre dazzles Chun-Li with another Gleam. Now that the Meditite is alone, the attack is at full power, and it hurts! Chun-Li creates another Rock Slide, hoping to get the flinch on July once again, but July is able to act through paralysis and flinch to deliver another Fire Blast, sealing the deal for poor Chun-Li.
