I step out onto the pokemon ASB tournament arena field, by this point in my reffing career, it should be a normal feeling to step out and talk to the roaring crowd about how the next match is about to go down, but to be honest, it still makes me nervous everytime I do it. But anyways, here are the rules for the day's battle!

4v4 Singles
DQ 3 days for trainers/ 5 days for myself
2 recovers/5 chills
Only 1st stage pokemon can be used
Switching=OK
One ability
No items

Now, please look up at the screen for our two battler's teams.

Have fun guys!

Yeah, I'm training a Gym team. Can you tell?

Anyway, I think I know what FS wants to send out, so...I guess I'll go with Jean to start. I'll be using Flash Fire.

Brandon entered the ASB Arena, ready for a training match against Galladiator, who already had a Litwick out on the field. Looking through his team, Brandon only had one good choice to fight it. "Alright, let's go Scorchstrike!" The Pokeball flashed and a Charmander stood in front of Brandon, ready to fight. "Let's do this! Start with a Crunch, then follow that up with a Rock Slide! Finish off with another Crunch! If he tries to use Confuse Ray, then make a 15 HP Substitute to block it!"

Summary:
Crunch -> Rock Slide -> Crunch
Replace action with Substitute (15 HP) if he uses Confuse Ray that action

That was rather unexpected. Guess he's saving Totodile for later...smart move. Perhaps.

At any rate, let's try to shake it up a bit. Not much you can do about that first Crunch, but we can soften the rest of the blows with an Acid Armor + Acid Armor combo to boost your defenses in half the time! Then after cooling down, launch a Shadow Ball at him!

Round 1: Dinosaur/Dragon thing vs. the Purple Candle thing

Both trainers waste no time sending out their pokemon, Flamestrike sends out Scorchstrike the Charmander, while Galladiator selects Jean the Litwik. Charmander wastes no time, and like Scrub Mcgrub, he takes a bite out of crime with a powerful Crunch, that can't taste good for him though. Litwik doesn't really mind, instead it decides to create THE EPIC ACID ARMOR COMBO OF EPICNESS, increasing its Defense by quite a bit. Charmander realizes this as his Slide of Rocks does little against Litwik, as it chills out and prepares to get back into the battle. Charmander attempts a second crunch hoping for a bit more damage, but fails, as he gets sent flying by a Shadow ball, this battle doesn't look good for Charmander

Wondering how using Acid Armor would damage him, Brandon nonetheless gave his orders. "Great job Scorchstrike, you won't be doing much damage but we need to press our advantage! Start with a Dig, then follow up with a Crunch! Finish off with another Dig! If Dig would fail to avoid those Shadow Balls, then replace them with Rock Slide!"

Round 2
Alright folks, we stand now with one Armored up Candle, and a Dragon baby thing, still we head off into round 2! Charamander starts off by digging itself underground, by doing so it allows him to dodge an incoming Shadow ball from our Candle friend. Popping back up like a mole, Charamander smacks into Litwik from below for some good damage. Charmander misses the taste of Litwik, so decides to crunch on it some more, causing Litwik to boost his armor even more with more acid, how much acid can you put on yourself before it starts to hurt!? Charmander burrows underground once again, dodgin another Shadow ball like he's paid to do it. Finally, burrowing back up and BAM right into Litwik again, for super effective damage

Brandon decided it was time to switch things up; Scorchstrike would take forever to break through those defense boosts. "Scorchstrike, return!" he called, and the Charmander was absorbed back into his Pokeball. Picking a new Pokeball, Brandon released his new Pokemon. "Let's go Raptorstrike!" There was a red flash, and Brandon's Starly appeared on the field. Brandon waited to see whether or not Galladiator would switch.

I'll switch as well.

Come back, Jean! You've done well, but besides Fire Blast there isn't much you can do here.

In her place, I'll send in my own Charmander, Jack!

Let's start out with a Rock Slide, then a Dragon Pulse! Finish the round with Crunch! But if Starly tries to use Brave Bird, use Flare Blitz to intercept!

"Huh, didn't think he'd give up all those defense boosts that easily," Brandon muttered as a new Charmander entered the field. "Alright Raptorstrike, not quite what I had in mind but we'll roll with it! Start with a 20 HP Substitute, then Brave Bird! Your Substitute will take the Flare Blitz for you! Finish off with a Double-Edge! If you get flinched by Rock Slide then push your actions down!"

Round 3:

Well folks, it seems as if we have a Chinese Fire Drill on our hands, as Flamestrike recalls his Charmander and sends out his Starly. While on the other hand, Litwik returns to Galladiator and Charmander is sent out. Lets see how these two fair against eachother. Charmander begins with a Rockslide attack for good damage against poor Starly, followed up by Starly retreating behind a 20 HP Substitute. Next, Charmander, fires up for a Flare Blitz attack, which is blocked by Starly's Substitute. Following up, Starly uses a powerful attack of its own. Brave Bird. Slamming into Charmander hard. Next, a Pulse of Charmander's Dragon energy is released into the field hitting Starly, Starly ending this off with a Double Edge.

Next up, we have a U-Turn from Starly, while Charmander releases a powerful Fire Fang Crunch attack, for good damage to Starly.
