Flavourmons: what if you took the flavor text literally? (no OHKO or Auto-Win effects)

This thread is pretty cool, but if we want to make it into an actual metagame, I feel like we need to take a more systematic approach. If the community wants this to just be a super fun version of theorymonning that's fine, but if we want to make it into an actual metagame we should probably sort through this thread by dex number or alphabetically. I'm not really invested enough in this to want to go through all that trouble but if someone did that would be really awesome and this project might go somewhere.

I totally agree. This is a really good idea, but it does need to be better organized. Also, earlier generation pokemon have more pokedex entries and so a considerable advantage.

Registeel:
Black and White:
Tempered by pressure underground over tens of thousands of years, its body cannot be scratched
Registeel should be immune to every claw based attack.

I think we should work on pokemon one at a time. I'll organize it and it will go by National Dex ID number. I will keep everything posted from here on out, and other things I find in the thread and know where to put, in this post.
Y: When the bud on its back starts swelling, a sweet aroma wafts to indicate the flower's coming bloom.
At the end of each turn, all of Ivysaur's foes have their evasiveness dropped 1 stage.

HeartGold: Exposure to sunlight adds to its strength. Sunlight also makes the bud on its back grow larger.
Ivysaur gains Solar Power in addition to whatever ability it has.

Stadium: Absorbs solar energy as nutrition. When it is catching the sun's rays, it often remains quiet and still.
Seems like Chlorophyll is a mistake.

Gold: By spreading the broad petals of its flower and catching the sun's rays, it fills its body with power.
Seems like Venusaur's hidden ability should be Solar Power, not Chlorophyll.

Y: From the time it is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out.
Seems like water-type moves should be an OHKO on Charmander.

Yellow: Tough fights could excite this Pokémon. When excited, it may blow out bluish-white flames.
Charmeleon's fire-type moves have a 50% increase in power when up against a stronger opponent.
Explanation: Fire-type moves normally have a deep orange color. When a fire is somewhat white (as what you see in the pokedex entry), it is about 50% more damage because barely a fire (1,000F) to deep orange (2,000F) is about twice as much as deep orange to somewhat white (2,400F). So the fire is 50% more damaging.

Gold: If Charizard becomes furious, the flame at the tip of its tail flares up in a whitish-blue color.
Charizard's fire-type moves deal 50% more damage.

Ruby/Saphire: Charizard flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents. It breathes fire of such great heat that it melts anything. However, it never turns its fiery breath on any opponent weaker than itself.
Charizard may not use a fire-type move against a lower-level opponent.

LeafGreen: It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. It may cause forest fires by blowing flames.
Charizard's Fire-type moves hit rock-types neutrally.

Ruby/Saphire: Squirtle's shell is not merely used for protection. The shell's rounded shape and the grooves on its surface help minimize resistance in water, enabling this Pokémon to swim at high speeds.
Squirtle's speed increases 50% in rain.

Stadium: It has spouts extending from its shell at the top. They spray water like cannons, hard enough to pierce concrete walls.
Blastoise's Hydro Cannon and Hydro Pump are guaranteed OHKO moves.

Stadium: It has large, eye-like patterns on its head as protection. They are used to frighten off enemies.
Caterpie gets the ability Intimidate in addition to its normal abilities.

Yellow: If you touch the feeler on top of its head, it will release a horrible stink to protect itself.
If a contact move is used on Caterpie, the user is forced out.

Yellow: Its wings, covered with poisonous powders, repel water. This allows it to fly in the rain.
Butterfree resist water-type moves. If it is hit by a contact move, the user is poisoned.

Red/Blue: Often found in forests, eating leaves. It has a sharp, venomous stinger on its head.
It always has poison point, in addition to its other ability.

Red/Blue: Flies at high speed and attacks using its large venomous stingers on its forelegs and tail.
Beedril is immune to ground-type moves.

Silver: It has three poison barbs. The barb on its tail secretes the most powerful poison.
Any poison inflicted by Beedril is bad poison.

HeartGold: It usually hides in tall grass. Because it dislikes fighting, it protects itself by kicking up sand.
Piidgey's sand attack will always prevent any opponent from hitting it. It may only use Sand-Attack, and no other moves.

Crystal: Its outstanding vision allows it to spot splashing Magikarp, even while flying at 3,300 feet.
Pidgeot's moves will never miss.

Gold: Its well-developed chest muscles make it strong enough to whip up a gusty windstorm with just a few flaps.
All its wind-based moves (Gust, Air Cutter, Hurricane, etc.) have +1 priority.

Yellow: Will chew on anything with its fangs. If you see one, it is certain that 40 more live in the area.
If you have a rattata on your team, you gain an additional 40 more rattata.

BW2: With its long fangs, this surprisingly violent Pokémon can gnaw away even thick concrete with ease.
Raticate's fang moves (Fire Fang, Super Fang, Hyper Fang, etc.) always OHKO.

X: With its huge an magnificent wings, it can keep aloft without ever having to land for rest.
When a Fearow uses Roost, it keeps its Flying-type.

Ruby/Saphire: EKANS curls itself up in a spiral while it rests. Assuming this position allows it to quickly respond to a threat from any direction with a glare from its upraised head
Ekans gains +1 in Attack, Defense, and accuracy each turn it is asleep due to Yawn or Rest. On its first action after waking up, it uses Glare at +1 priority.

Ruby/Saphire: This POKéMON is terrifically strong in order to constrict things with its body. It can even flatten steel oil drums. Once ARBOK wraps its body around its foe, escaping its crunching embrace is impossible.
When Arbok uses Wrap, the foe can never escape. Furthermore, it behaves like Wrap did gen 1.

Platinum: It occasionally uses an electric shock to recharge a fellow PIKACHU that is in a weakened state.
Pikachu's HP and PP are fully restored upon being hit by an electric-type attack.

Yellow: It keeps its tail raised to monitor its surroundings. If you yank its tail, it will try to bite you.
Pikachu can now learn Bite.

Crystal: If its electric pouches run empty, it raises its tail to gather electricity from the atmosphere.
Raichu's electric-type moves never run out of PP.

Saphire: SANDSHREW has a very dry hide that is extremely tough. The POKéMON can roll into a ball that repels any attack. At night, it burrows into the desert sand to sleep.
If Sandshrew uses a move that makes it roll into a ball (Rollout, Defensive Curl, etc.), it becomes immune to all effects of all attacks until it uses a different move.
HeartGold: If it fell from a great height, this Pokémon could save itself by rolling into a ball and bouncing.
Sandshrew is immune to damage from Sky Drop.

5th Gen: While it does not prefer to fight, even one drop of the poison it secretes from barbs can be fatal.
If Nidoran poisons a foe, then the foe is KO'd.

Y: One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole as if it were a matchstick.
Nidoking's tail moves (Aqua Tail, Iron Tail, Poison Tail, and Dragon Tail) always OHKO.

Gold: The moonlight that it stores in the wings on its back apparently gives it the ability to float in midair.
Clefairy is immune to ground-type attacks.

BW: It is said that happiness will come to those who see a gathering of Clefairy dancing under a full moon.
Any pokemon that is out while a Clefairy uses a dancing move (Rain Dance is the only one Clefairy gets) has their happiness set to 255.

SoulSilver: If it is attacked by an enemy that is stronger than itself, it feigns injury to fool the enemy and escapes.
Vulpix can not be hit twice by a pokemon of a higher level than it.

Ruby: NINETALES casts a sinister light from its bright red eyes to gain total control over its foe’s mind. This POKéMON is said to live for a thousand years.
Ninetails can control its opponents actions.

DPPt: It can't live without the stalk it holds. That's why it defends the stalk from attackers with its life.
Silver: If it eats the plant stalk it carries as emergency rations, it runs off in search of a new stalk.
If Farfetch'd is not holding a stick, it immediately faints. If Farfetch looses its stick due to knock off, Farfetch'd looses a turn to go get the stick. Furthermore, a Farfethced below 20% HP left will run away from battle for a few turns, and return fully healed with a new stick.

None yet.

Emerald: It is said to arrive on chilly, wintry winds. Feared from long ago as the guardian of forests, this Pokemon lives in a deep forest where people do not venture.
Shiftry gets Snow Warning as a possible ability.

LeafGreen: A Pokemon that was feared as a forest guardian. It can read its foe's mind and take preemptive action.
When Shiftry is your active pokemon, you know what action the foe is going to take.

Platinum: By flapping its leafy fans, it can whip up gusts of 100 ft/second that can level houses.
Shiftry learns all wind moves. Wind moves, (Hurricane, Icy Wind, Razor Wind, Twister, etc) Leaf Tornado, and Leaf Storm ignore resistances. Whirlwind forces the foe to switch even if it has Suction Cups or is under the effects of Ingrain. Tailwind lasts for 8 actions instead of 4 when used by Shiftry. Defog also removes the foe's Substitute, if it has one.

Saphire: Lunatone becomes active around the time of the full moon. Instead of walking, it moves by floating in midair using telekinesis. The Pokémon's intimidating red eyes cause all those who see it to become transfixed with fear.
Lunatone has both Levitate and Intimidate.

BW2: Solar energy is the source of its power, so it is strong during the daytime. When it spins, its body shines.
Solrock gains the ability Solar Power. It can use Rapid Spin, and all foes' accuracy falls 1 stage each time it uses Rapid Spin.

Emerald: A Pokémon that is made entirely of rocks and boulders. If parts of its body chip off in battle, Regirock repairs itself by adding new rocks.
Diamond/Pearl: Its entire body is made of rock. If any part chips off in battle, it attaches rocks to repair itself.
Regirock will regain health if Stealth Rocks are on the field after either being damaged by an attack or upon switching in. It takes no damage from Stealth Rock. It also removes Stealth Rocks from the field.

BW: Tempered by pressure underground over tens of thousands of years, its body cannot be scratched
Registeel is immune to every claw, slas and scratch based attack.

SoulSilver: It is very difficult to dodge the consecutive strikes of its two tails.
Any moves involving Ambipom's tails will now always hit.

Platinum: It attacks using its huge mouth. While its attacks are powerful, it hurts itself out of clumsiness, too.
Gible gets Strong Jaw and Hustle as abilities, but if it misses it damages it self for 25% of its health.

HeartGold/SoulSilver: As it digs to expand its nest, it habitually digs up gems that it then hoards in its nest.
If Gabite uses dig, there is a 50% chance it will emerge with either a ground, dragon, fire, water, or rock gem.

Pearl: It flies at speeds equal to a jet fighter plane. It never allows its prey to escape.
Garchomp learns fly. Garchomp gets Shadow Tag in addition to its ability.

Platinum: It is said that when one runs at high speeds, it's wings create blades of wind that can fell trees.
Garchomp learns air slash and razor wind, both have a 20% power buff against grass types, and razor wind requires no charging.

Will finish updating later.

Do you think it would be better to put it on something like piratepad? So we can all contribute instead of having you update it all of the time. Because I'm sure that would get annoying.

Bulbasaur:
Y:
For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back.
Should get Harvest.
Crystal: While it is young, it uses the nutrients that are stored in the seeds on its back in order to grow.
After eating a berry, all stats get a +1 bonus.

BW2: Solar energy is the source of its power, so it is strong during the daytime. When it spins, its body shines.
Solrock gains the ability Solar Power. It can use Rapid Spin, and all foes' accuracy falls 1 stage each time it uses Rapid Spin.
I would've worded this one as "Whenever Solrock uses Flash, it also removes all entry hazards, leech seeds, and constricting effects from Solrock and your side of the field.

Basically the same thing, but it only modifies a move, not add plus modify.

I made it a document on Pirate Pad. Please make sure to input your username on these forums as the appropriate highlight color for the work you've done. Every now and then I will check all highlighted text and make sure it makes sense, then I will erase author colors on the entire document. The link can be found here. Try to keep everything in the following format and make 3 lines between each pokemon:
Code:
[B][U]Pokemon Name[/B][/U]
[B]Version Name[/B]: Pokedex entry
Changes

[B]Version Name 2[/B]: Pokedex entry

I'm bored so...

Luxray
HeartGold/SoulSilver, Y:
Luxray's ability to see through objects comes in handy when it's scouting for danger.
Ignores evasion modifiers, Substitute and Illusion.

Pearl, X: When its eyes gleam gold, it can spot hiding prey--even those taking shelter behind a wall.
Ignores Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, Protect, Detect, Mat Block and Crafty Shield.

Weavile
Black/White:
Evolution made it even more devious. It communicates by clawing signs in boulders.
Y: It lives in snowy regions. It carves patterns in trees with its claws as a signal to others.
Every claw, slash and scratch based attack has a 50% confusion rate against rock types and trevenant. If the opponent is confused, fury swipes will be used every turn on top of Weavile's normal attacks until it switches out.

Lumineon
Platinum, Black/White, Black/White 2:
It crawls along the seafloor using its long front fins like legs. It competes for food with Lanturn.
> Takes 25% struggle damage every turn if the opponent has a Lanturn. The same happens to the opponent's Lanturn.
Pearl: To avoid detection by predators, it crawls along the seafloor using the two fins on its chest.
Evasion boost (+2?) if the opponent is carrying a super-effective move. If this happens, -1 Attack as Lumineon is intimidated.
X: It lives on the deep-sea floor. It attracts prey by flashing the patterns on its four tail fins.
Opponents lose an evasion stage every time Lumineon attacks.

Rhyperior
Diamond/Pearl:
It puts rocks in holes in its palms and uses its muscles to shoot them. Geodude are shot at rare times.
10% chance for the opponent to be hit by Head Smash from base 80 attack after using a rock type attack.
HeartGold/SoulSilver: From holes in its palms, it fires out Geodude. Its carapace can withstand volcanic eruptions.
Immune to fire-type moves.

Tangrowth
HeartGold:
When it remains still, it appears to be a large shrub. Unsuspecting prey that wander near get ensnared by its vines.
Opponent gets ingrained upon making contact
Y: Its vines grow so profusely that, in the warm season, you can't even see its eyes.
Regenerator heals 50% instead of 33% in the sun.

Leafeon
Diamond/Pearl, Y:
Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clean air.
Leafeon has a permanent safeguard effect.
Black/White: It basically does not fight. With cells similar to those of plants, it can perform photosynthesis.
Leafeon can only use status moves.

Gallade
HeartGold/SoulSilver, X:
Because it can sense what its foe is thinking, its attacks burst out first, fast, and fierce.
Gallade attacks before the opponent.
Platinum:
When protecting someone, it extends its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely.
+2 attack if you switch Gallade in from a pokemon in the Human-Like egg group into an attacking move.

Regigigas
Diamond/Pearl:
There is an enduring legend that states this Pokémon towed continents with ropes.
Regigigas gets Huge Power on top of Slow Start.
Regigigas gets Superpower.

Giratina
Platinum, Black/White, Black/White 2:
It was banished for its violence. It silently gazed upon the old world from the Distortion World.
Mean Look is constantly active on the opponents side. However, Giratina is considered to be fainted at all times.
Alternatively, you can use the pursuit effect on any attack. Giratina is still considered to be fainted.

Wailord
x:
It can sometimes knock out opponents with the shock created by breaching and crashing its big body onto the water.
I suggest that when Wailord uses Dive now there is a 5-10% chance that it knock out the opponent (for balance, perhaps if it only does a certain amount?).

Never will be implemented. Maybe a 25% damage at a 10% chance, or an auto flinch or something.

That is a much better idea, thank you. Now to contribute to conversation:
Watchog
Black2/White2:
Using luminescent matter, it makes its eyes and body glow and stuns attacking opponents.
I'd like to suggest from this that there should be roughly a ten percent chance that when an opponent attacks Watchog, they flinch instead.

Sounds good. Now to contribute some.

Breloom:

Ruby: Breloom closes in on its foe with light and sprightly footwork, then throws punches with its stretchy arms. This Pokemon's fighting technique puts boxers to shame.

Breloom's punch moves can hit any opponent, regardless of position. Hitmonchan is put to shame while Breloom is on the field, lowering Hitmonchan's Attack, Special Attack, and Speed by one (1) stage.

HeartGold/SoulSilver: It scatters poisonous spores and throws powerful punches while its foe is hampered by inhaled spores.

When an opponent triggers Breloom's Effect Spore ability or is hit by a powder move used by Breloom, the opponent takes damage as if they were hit by Mach Punch.
Toxicroak:

HeartGold/SoulSilver: Swaying and dodging the attacks of its foe, it weaves its flexible body in close, then lunges out with its poisonous claws.

All contact moves used on Toxicroak have a flat 10% less Accuracy. When a contact attack misses Toxicroak, the attacker takes damage as if they were hit by Poison Sting.

Also, yay about not reposting the one about Toxicroak's fatal venom capabilities 100 times.

Pancham:

X: It does its best to be taken seriously by its enemies, but its glare is not sufficiently intimidating. Chewing on a leaf is its trademark.

Leer has no effect when used by Pancham.

Arcanine
Silver
: Its magnificent bark conveys a sense of majesty. Anyone hearing it can't help but grovel before it.
Because of this, I suggest that every time Arcanine uses Roar the next Pokemon that comes in has -1 offenses because its too busy groveling. That or a message comes up in Showdown chat saying which Pokemon wore humbled and are now groveling for our comedic pleasure.

Galvantula
White:
They employ an electrically charged web to trap their prey. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it.
I suggest that Galvantula's electroweb now paralyze the opponent for three turns. Only three turns because the dex entry implies that the shock wears off.

Goodra
X:
This very friendly Dragon-type Pokémon will hug its beloved Trainer, leaving that Trainer covered in sticky slime.
I suggest that every time Goodra knock another Pokemon out, it must hug the trainer.
Y: It attacks with retractable horns. It throws a punch that's the equivalent of the force of a hundred pro boxers.
Goodra can learn mega punch and it does a hundred times the damage of the mega punch of any Hitmonchan (a pro boxer) in either player's party.

Arcanine:

Silver entry:

Seems fine

Galvantula:

Seems fine.

Goodra:

Y entry:

I would instead make it be learns Mega Punch with + 100 power, and an iron fist buff.

Delphox:
Y:
Using psychic power, it generates a fiery vortex of 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit, incinerating foes swept into this whirl of flame.
When using a Psychic-type move, opponents get the Fire Spin effect.

Talonflame:
Y:
When attacking prey, it can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick.
When Talonflame uses an attacking move, it also uses Ember.

Roserade:
Y:
With the movements of a dancer, it strikes with whips that are densely lined with poison thorns.
When Roserade uses Vine Whip, the opponent gets poisoned.

Slaking:
X:
The world's laziest Pokémon. When it is lounging, it is actually saving energy for striking back.
Slaking gains Huge Power at the same time as Truant.

Liepard:
Y:
Stealthily, it sneaks up on its target, striking from behind before its victim has a chance to react.
Liepard's attacking moves gain +1 priority.

Meowstic:
X:
When in danger, it raises its ears and releases enough psychic power to grind a 10-ton truck into dust.
When Mewostic has 30% or less HP, it causes the opponent to faint instantly(Too OP? Maybe just uses 120 power Psychic move?)

Aurorus:
X:
The diamond-shaped crystals on its body expel air as cold as -240 degrees Fahrenheit, surrounding its enemies and encasing them in ice.
When the opponent uses a contact move, there is a 20% chance to freeze them.
Y: Using its diamond-shaped crystals, it can instantly create a wall of ice to block an opponent's attack.
Physical moves do 50% less damage.

Dragalge:
X:
Their poison is strong enough to eat through the hull of a tanker, and they spit it indiscriminately at anything that enters their territory.
Dragalge's poison attacks are super effective on Steel-types. Dragalge uses Sludge/Sludge Bomb/Acid/etc. whenever a Pokemon switches in.

Tyrantrum:
X:
Thanks to its gargantuan jaws, which could shred thick metal plates as if they were paper, it was invincible in the ancient world it once inhabited.
"Bite" moves are super effective on Steel-types. Tyrantrum takes no damage from other fossil Pokemon.

This is a really fun metagame! I'll probably post more later

Nidoqueen
Heartgold:
Its body is covered with needle-like scales. It never shows signs of shrinking from any attack.
Nidoqueen cannot flinch.

Nidoking
Stadium 2:
It swings its big tail around during battle. If its foe flinches, it will charge with its sturdy body.
Nidoking does extra damage if he flinches his opponent.

Deoxys
Heartgold/Soulsilver
: DNA from a space virus mutated and became a Pokémon. It appears where auroras are seen.
Apparently Deoxys can't learn Aurora beam despite being directly connected with them. Now he can, and to make it worth using, when he uses it, its power is boosted by thirty percent.

Bulbasaur
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald:
Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.
When sunny day/drought is active, Bulbasaur will sleep for one turn. Because Bulbasaur gains nutrients from the plant, when he wakes up he will have +1 in every stat excluding evasion (having just eaten and napped doesn't make it easier to dodge I don't think).

Muk:
Yellow:
Smells so awful, it can cause fainting. Through degeneration, it lost its sense of smell.
If the opponent has a way of smelling Muk, i.e, a nose, it immediately faints.
Silver: Its body is made of a powerful poison. Touching it accidentally will cause a fever that requires bed rest.
When Muk or the opponent uses a contact move, then opponent will fall asleep.
Ruby: From MUK's body seeps a foul fluid that gives off a nose-bendingly horrible stench. Just one drop of this POKéMON's body fluid can turn a pool stagnant and rancid.
When Muk uses a contact move on a Water-type, it becomes Poison-type
Emerald: It prefers warm and humid habitats. In the summertime, the toxic substances in its body intensify, making MUK reek like putrid kitchen garbage.
When it is Sunny, all Pokemon that are active with Muk are toxic poisoned.
Y: A toxic fluid seeps from its body. The fluid instantly kills plants and trees on contact.
Muk's Poison-type attacks OHKO Grass-types.

Sorry if I did the Pirate Pad incorrectly.

Should we post them here, put them in the Pirate Pad, or both?

Mareep
Crystal: It stores lots of air in its soft fur, allowing it to stay cool in summer and warm in winter.

Thick Fat, anyone?

Shellder:
Yellow:
The shell can withstand any attack. However, when it is open, the tender body is exposed.
Shellder is immune to the first hit he takes, which opens his shell. He can then take damage on the next hit.

Yveltal
X: When this legendary Pokémon's wings and tail feathers spread wide and glow red, it absorbs the life force of all living creatures.
Oblivion Wing hits everything on the field

this is my personal favorite though

Y: When its life comes to an end, it absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more.
When Yveltal faints everything on the battlefield dies along with it. #banyveltal

YVELTAL FOR GOD TIER

Yeah, I think Victini, Tyranitar, and Yveltal are all looking like they are going to be our Ubers. Perhaps other pokemon, though, like Blastoise (80% accurate OHKO move), Mega Lucario (you have base 145 attack, base 140 special attack, Adaptability, base 112 speed, and you know exactly what the opponent will do), and Sandshrew (boost up to +6 defense and start using rollout for massive damage, while no one can harm you).

Kyurem
White(version:It can produce ultracold air. Its body is frozen.

Because it can produce ultraccold air,all it's moves are super effective to water types.
_
BTW:Remove the abilities that are OP
Raticate's fang moves (Fire Fang, Super Fang, Hyper Fang, etc.) always OHKO.
like that.
