Floatzel

[OVERVIEW]

Floatzel stands out as one of the fastest Pokemon in the NU metagame, outspeeding many threatening Pokemon, such as Archeops and Tauros, as well as Speed tying with Sneasel. Floatzel has decent offensive stats that allow it to be either a special or a physical attacker, giving it some versatility. Its typing also gives it a good matchup against many Stealth Rock users, letting Floatzel act as decent lead. Floatzel's ability, Water Veil, also allows it to switch into Will-O-Wisp and Scald without fear of being burned. Floatzel is also the only viable Pokemon in the tier with access to both Bulk Up and Baton Pass, giving it a unique niche that lets it support its teammates. However, Floatzel faces competition from Samurott, which has more wallbreaking prowess with its access to Swords Dance; however, unlike Samurott, Floatzel has fewer issues with Ferroseed because it has Focus Blast. Floatzel is also very frail, taking major damage from strong resisted attacks and being easily revenge killed by many Choice Scarf users.

[SET]
name: Special Attacker
move 1: Hydro Pump
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Taunt / Hidden Power Electric
item: Life Orb
ability: Water Veil / Swift Swim
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Hydro Pump is a powerful Water-type STAB move that hits even neutral targets hard. Ice Beam has great coverage with Hydro Pump and hits Grass- and Flying-types such as Lilligant, Vileplume, and Scyther super effectively. Focus Blast rounds out Floatzel's coverage, allowing Floatzel to hit Ferroseed, which otherwise walls Floatzel. Taunt prevents Pokemon from recovering, boosting their stats, and setting up entry hazards. Hidden Power Electric hits bulky Water-types such as Mantine, Pelipper, and Prinplup super effectively. Baton Pass is another decent option that allows Floatzel to retain offensive momentum.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed EVs with a Timid nature are used to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, allowing Floatzel to outspeed Archeops and Tauros while Speed tying with Sneasel. Maximum Special Attack EVs allow Floatzel to hit as hard as possible. The choice between the two abilities is a personal preference: Water Veil is great for allowing Floatzel to switch into Scald without fear of being worn down by burns, while Swift Swim allows it to take on opposing Swift Swim Pokemon on rain teams such as Kabutops and Gorebyss. A Life Orb gives a significant power boost to Floatzel's attacks and allows it to switch moves freely.

Usage Tips
========

Floatzel is best brought in with a U-turn or Volt Switch user or after a Pokemon has fainted, as it takes a lot of damage from most neutral hits. This set is meant to be played as a revenge killer and a late-game cleaner, so try to preserve it. Make sure to use the appropriate coverage move against predicted switch-ins, as Floatzel will be worn down by Life Orb recoil from wasted hits. Use Taunt to shut down defensive Pokemon such as Prinplup and Mega Audino and give Floatzel a better matchup against defensive teams.

Team Options
========

Floatzel generally likes to be brought in safely, so it pairs well with a Volt Switch or U-turn user such as Rotom, Lanturn, Mesprit, or Scyther. Floatzel really appreciates entry hazard support to ease its late-game cleaning abilities. For example, Floatzel is able to OHKO Lilligant most of the time with Ice Beam after Spikes damage. Thus, Pokemon such as Garbodor and Cacturne make for great partners, especially because the former punishes Pokemon that use priority moves to take down Floatzel and the latter resists Grass- and Electric-type attacks. Mesprit and Uxie make for great partners, as they can support Floatzel with Stealth Rock and bring in Floatzel safely with U-turn; the former also has access to Healing Wish to heal Floatzel if it has been worn down a lot by Life Orb recoil or crippled by status. Electric-types such as Rotom pair well with Floatzel, as they can threaten Water-types that give Floatzel issues and also bring in Floatzel safely with Volt Switch. Wallbreakers, such as Choice Band Sawk and Choice Specs Pyroar, are great partners, as they break down bulky Pokemon that Floatzel tends to struggle with. Kangaskhan pairs well with Floatzel because they both handle each other's checks very well and break down offensive teams with their priority and Speed, respectively. Pyroar, Gurdurr, Flareon, and Pawniard are good teammates, as they appreciate Floatzel's ability to lure Mantine and Pelipper and KO them with Hidden Power Electric.

[SET]
name: Bulk Up
move 1: Bulk Up
move 2: Baton Pass
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Taunt / Ice Punch
item: Leftovers
ability: Water Veil
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Bulk Up raises Floatzel's good Attack stat even further and raises its Defense stat, allowing it to take some physical attacks more comfortably. Baton Pass allows Floatzel to quickly pass its Bulk Up boosts to a teammate. Waterfall is a reliable STAB move that does decent damage after a boost and has a chance to make the foe flinch. Taunt prevents Pokemon from phazing Floatzel with Whirlwind or Roar. It also prevents opposing Pokemon from using Taunt, spreading status, setting up entry hazards, and setting up alongside Floatzel. Ice Punch is an alternative to hit Grass-types such as Cacturne, Lilligant, Torterra, and Vileplume.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed EVs with a Timid nature are used to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, notably allowing Floatzel to outspeed Archeops and Tauros while Speed tying with Sneasel. Maximum HP EVs increase its bulk and allow Floatzel to take more hits as it sets up Bulk Up. Leftovers gives it passive recovery as it uses Bulk Up and, if using Substitute, allows Floatzel to create more Substitutes. Water Veil prevents Floatzel from being burned, which allows it to set up on bulky Water-types without fear of Scald.

Usage Tips
========

Use Bulk Up on forced switches or against Pokemon that cannot do much damage back, such as Prinplup, Pelipper, and Mantine. Use Taunt to shut down passive Pokemon, such as Audino and Prinplup, and prevent opposing Pokemon from crippling Floatzel with status or phazing Floatzel. Use Baton Pass to pass Bulk Up boosts to a teammate and also to maintain offensive momentum, even when no boosts are passed. Try to keep Floatzel healthy throughout the match, as it does not have any form of reliable recovery. Also, scout for Haze on Mantine, as Mantine switches in easily and can nullify Floatzel's boosts.

Team Options
========

Teammates for this Floatzel set include physical attackers, such as Kangaskhan, Sneasel, Mawile, and Tauros, as they greatly appreciate the Attack and Defense boosts. Quagsire is a very problematic Pokemon for this set, as it ignores any stat boosts Floatzel has attained, so Grass-types such as Cacturne, Lilligant, and Torterra make for great partners. Fire-types, such as Magmortar and Pyroar, also make for great partners, as they easily take down problematic Grass-types for Floatzel if it is lacking Ice Punch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Choice Specs with Switcheroo is an option, but Floatzel likes to freely switch moves because of its coverage. Similarly, Choice Band is another option to take advantage of its good Attack and Switcheroo. Switcheroo plus Flame Orb is another option to burn a Pokemon and cripple them further by taking their item. Surf can be used over Hydro Pump if the accuracy is a concern, but the loss in power is notable. Iron Tail nails Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and Granbull. Hidden Power Grass OHKOes Quagsire, but it gets hit hard enough by Hydro Pump. Crunch is an option on the Bulk Up set to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Mismagius, Mesprit, Uxie, and Musharna. Substitute is another option on the Bulk Up set that prevents Floatzel from being hit by moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic and ensures the Baton Pass recipient switches in safely. An offensive Swift Swim set has use on rain teams, but it faces too much competition from other Swift Swim users such as Ludicolo, Kabutops, and Gorebyss.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Lanturn, Prinplup, Mantine, Poliwrath, Quagsire, and Pelipper give Floatzel problems, as it cannot do much to them while all of them can cripple Floatzel with Toxic. Lanturn only fears Hidden Power Grass and hits Floatzel for super effective damage with Volt Switch. Poliwrath is able to phaze Floatzel regardless of Taunt thanks to Circle Throw and is immune to Waterfall. Quagsire ignores any boosts Floatzel attains on its Bulk Up set with Unaware.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types, such as Vileplume, Lilligant, and Cacturne, can give Floatzel problems. Vileplume is a problem for Floatzel's Bulk Up set, as it is not even 4HKOed without boosts while it threatens Floatzel with Giga Drain. Lilligant sets up Quiver Dance on Floatzel's Bulk Up set if it is lacking Ice Punch and OHKOes with Giga Drain. However, none of these Grass-types appreciates taking an Ice Beam or Ice Punch. All of them, except for Choice Scarf Lilligant, are also naturally outsped by Floatzel and can be hit with a coverage move if they switch in.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon, such as Zebstrika and Swellow, as well as Choice Scarf users, such as Rotom, Mesprit, and Lilligant, revenge kill Floatzel, though none of these Pokemon are able to safely switch in.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Great speed that allows it to outspeed the majority of the unboosted metagame
  • Decent offensive stats allow it to go special or physical
  • Has great coverage on the special side
Pretty sure its coverage is basically the same on either side other than like HP. Remove this point unless im forgetting something
  • Cannot be burned; switches into Scald with no fear
  • Has a unique combination of Bulk Up and Baton Pass
  • Faces competition from Samurott who has more wall breaking prowess and access to Swords Dance
  • Relatively frail making it easy to revenge kill with priority

Moves
========
  • Waterfall is good STAB move that has chance to flinch and is very powerful when boosted with a Choice Band
  • Ice Punch is a great coverage move, as it allows Floatzel to to hit Grass-types such as Vileplume, Torterra, and Lilligant
  • Return has good neutral coverage overall and hits bulky Water-types relatively hard
  • Brick Break is for hitting Ferroseed which walls Floatzel otherwise
  • Switcheroo cripples any defensive Pokemon by locking them into a move and cripples Eviolite users by significantly reducing their defenses
  • Baton Pass allows Floatzel to maintain offensive momentum and baits in its checks for a teammate to take advantage of
  • Aqua Jet is priority move that picks off weakened Choice Scarf users such as Rotom and Mesprit

  • Choice Band is the item of choice as it boosts Floatzel's Attack by respectable amount
Usage Tips
========
  • Because Floatzel locks itself into attacks, predicting the correct switch in is important to ensure that Floatzel dents the opposing team and does not lose momentum
  • If the opponent has Grass-type predicted their switch in by using Ice Punch
  • If the opponent has Water-type use Return to damage them

  • Cacturne is great offensive partner, as it switches in on bulky Water-types and Choice Scarf Rotom and threatens them with Giga Drain and Sucker Punch respectively. Cacturne can also support Floatzel with Spikes support. Similarily Lilligant is able to set up on Pokemon that give Floatzel problems and also has access to Healing Wish.

Quagsire takes on Floatzel Choice Band set very well and ignores any boosts it has attained on its Bulk Up set with Unaware.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types, such as Vileplume, Lilligant, and Cacturne all can give Floatzel problems, though none of them appreciate taking Ice Beam or Ice Punch, but all of them can take advantage of Choice locked Waterfall. Vileplume is problem for Floatzel's physcially based sets in particular as on its Bulk Up set, it is not even 4HKOd while it threatens Floatzel with Giga Drain. Lilligant sets up Quiver Dance on Choice locked Floatzel and OHKO with Giga Drain.

**Faster Pokemon**: Because Floatzel is a naturally fast Pokemon, mostly Choice Scarf users threaten it such as Rotom, Magneton, Mesprit and Lilligant, though none of these Pokemon are able to safely switch in.

**Priority**: Due to Floatzel's fragility, powerful priority users such as Kangaskhan, Cacturne and Fletchinder pick off Floatzel, though none of these Pokemon safely switch in.

idk how i feel about the line in the overview about priority (and the c&c mention for that matter), sneasel's shard is by far the most common prio and the only prio i can think of that scares floatzel is like pawn's sucker / fletch acro and pawn is like never ever run. unless im missing something i might just drop this line, esp considering bulk up makes you considerably less weak to prio and water veil means fletch cant burn u.

note somewhere that floatzel gets around ferroseed easier than samu thanks to fb. i think baton pass deserves a moves mention on special lo, its so huge for momentum (and its prob better than hp electrice if ur predicting mantine anyways)

mention somewhere that floatzel functions really well as a lead, it deters most stealth rock users and can taunt things it cant kill like crustle i guess.

throughout the analysis whenever u mention u-turn or volt swtich or w.e move users, be sure to give a relevant example either in that line or make it clear in TO.

idk how i feel about CB right now, its just not that good and switcheroo isn't enough of a boon for me to want it to have a set. I'll talk to other qc guys about it, but for now leave it in.

[Overview]
I don't know how important it is to directly compare Floatzel to Samurott in the overview because its a tad over specific especially with the part about ferroseed, but one of the other notable qualities that Samurott has over Floatzel is its much higher bulk for an offensive Pokemon. In the last sentence, add a descriptive adjective before frail because its defenses are really bad (55/50), and instead of saying that it takes a lot from neutral hits say that it takes a lot of damage even from resisted hits.

Special Attacker

Moves
========
List examples of Grass and Flying types that Ice Beam hits. I feel like you're overselling HP Grass a bit here. It deals the same damage as Focus Blast to Lanturn, Quagsire is cleanly 2HKOed by Hydro Pump, and Kabutops / Costa are both 2HKOed / OHKOed by Hydro or Focus Blast. In reality, the only value of it is that it OHKOes Quagsire as opposed to 2HKOing and is a more accurate move to hit Lanturn with. Really not a huge issue but I'd rather see it in OO as opposed to moves for the reasons stated.

Usage Tips
========
Part of me feels like this should be expanded upon since its a bit skimpy, but Floatzel is a pretty straightforward mon to use. List some examples of what it should Taunt.

Team Options
========
If you're going to list entry hazard setters as teammates, add an example or two of a 2HKO / OHKO that entry hazard support helps it get, otherwise the mention of these Pokemon is pretty arbitrary. When you talk about Healing Wish change twave to status conditions because getting Poisoned or put to Sleep is pretty bad as well. Add some teammates that like Mantine / Pelipper being lured in with HP Electric.

Bulk Up

Moves
========
Iffy on Substitute, mainly because it seems inferior to Taunt in what it accomplishes and chipping away at a frail Pokemon's HP is pretty detrimental. Would like to see this in OO as well.

Usage Tips
========
What Pokemon can it set up versus? What mons is it Taunting? The line about bp is worded a bit odd, saying "x move is used to" is more of something that'd go in the moves section, so reword it to say when the move should be used.

Team Options
========
Same thing as above about hazards. In the last sentence, add that they are more important if Floatzel is not using Ice Punch.

Checks and Counters
===================
Water types: First part of last sentence about cb is pointless, remove it - just keep it to how quag is a major bother for the bulk up set.

Grass types: No need to say that they can take advantage of a choice locked waterfall bc the set was moved to oo. Mention that all of them bar scarf lilligant are outsped and can thus be hit with a coverage move if they try to switch in.

Faster mons: Add swellow and zebstrika to this, and keep the part about scarfers, something along the lines of "faster pokemon such as as swellow and zebstrika as well as choice scarf users such as x, y, and z can revenge kill floatzel but have trouble switching in"

Let me know when this is done and I'll give it another look and most likely will stamp.

Made all of the changes boltsandbombers. I removed the hazard mention in the BU set b/c I honestly couldn't come up with a relevant calc, but I kept the mention in the first set and added an example on why it helps.

Still dont like the part about what teammates appreciate mantine/pelipper lured in. First, the sentence is kinda worded such that it implies Ludicolo is luring in Mantine, which isnt true. Its more clear if you say like "x mon is a good teammate because it appreciates floatzels ability to lure..." Ludicolo doesnt seem like the best example here, and some better ones would be like Gurdurr, Pyroar, Flareon, and Pawniard.

Bulk Up

Usage Tips
========
Mantine occasionally carries haze so make note of that, like scouting for it or something. Remove the line about substitute.

Team Options
========
Good bp recipients is kinda unclear, it would be better to just say physical attackers. Idk if they become "fearsome" because thats kinda exaggerating it a bit, tone it down to something like "they greatly appreciate having the extra bulk and power".

C&C
You say that plume is a problem for floatzels physical sets especially the bulk up one, but sets implies that there are more than one so just say its bothersome/problematic for the bulk up set. There is still a mention of choice locked floatzel .-.

Moves
========

Hydro Pump is a powerful Water-type STAB that hits even neutral targets hard. Ice Beam has great coverage with Hydro Pump and hits Grass- and Flying-types such as Lilligant, Vileplume, and Scyther. Focus Blast rounds out Floatzel's coverage allowing Floatzel to hit Ferroseed, which otherwise walls Floatzel. Taunt prevents Pokemon from recovering, boosting their stats, and setting up entry hazards from going up. Hidden Power Electric is for hitting hits bulky Water-types such as Mantine, Pelipper, and Prinplup. Baton Pass is another decent option that allows Floatzel to retain offensive momentum.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed EVs plus with a Timid nature are used to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, outspeeding Archeops and Tauros while speed tying with Sneasel. Maximum Special Attack EVs are to allow Floatzel to hit as hard as possible. The choice between the two abilities is a personal preference: Water Veil is great for allowing Floatzel to switch into Scald without fear of being worn down by burns while, (RC) Swift Swim, (RC) allows it to take on Swift Swim Pokemon on rain teams such as Kabutops and Gorebyss. A Life Orb gives a significant power boost to Floatzel's attacks and allows it to switch moves freely.

Usage Tips
========

Floatzel is best brought in with a U-turn or Volt Switch user, (RC) or after a Pokemon has fainted, as it takes a lot of damage from most neutral hits. This set is meant to be more played as a revenge killer and a late-game cleaner, (AC) so try to preserve it until then. Make sure to sse use the appropriate coverage move against predicted switch ins switchins as Floatzel will be worn down by Life Orb recoil from wasted hits. Use Taunt to shut down defensive Pokemon such as Prinplup and Mega Audino and Prinplup, giving and give Floatzel a better match up against defensive teams.

Team Options
========

Floatzel generally likes to be brought in safely so it pairs well with U-turn or Volt Switch user such as Magneton, Rotom, Lanturn, (AC) Mesprit, and or Scyther. Floatzel really appreciates hazard support to ease its late-game cleaning abilities. (add Period) For example, Floatzel is able to OHKO Lilligant most of the time with Ice Beam after Spikes damage. so Thus, Pokemon such as Garbodor and Cacturne make great partners, especially because the former punishes Pokemon that use priority moves to take down Floatzel while the latter is resists Grass- (add hyphen) and Electric-type attacks. For example, Floatzel is able to OHKO Lilligant most of the time with Ice Beam after Spikes damage. (Moving to where it would be a bit more relevant) Mesprit and Uxie makes great partners, (AC) as they can support Floatzel with Stealth Rock and bring in Floatzel safely with U-turn; the former also has access to Healing Wish to heal Floatzel if it has been worn down a lot by Life Orb recoil or if it has been crippled by status. Electric-types, (AC) such as Magneton and Rotom, (AC) pair well with Floatzel, as they can threaten Water-types that give Floatzel issues and can also bring in Floatzel safely with Volt Switch. Wall breakers Wallbreakers, (AC) such as Choice Band Sawk and Choice Specs Magneton, (AC) are great partners, (AC) as they break down bulky Pokemon that Floatzel tend to break through tends to struggle with. Kangaskhan pairs well with Floatzel because they both handle each other's (add apostrophe) checks very well and both break down offensive teams with their priority and speed Speed, (AC) respectively. Pyroar, Gurdurr, Flareon, (AC) and Pawniard are good teammates, as they appreciate Floatzel's ability to lure Mantine and Pelipper with Hidden Power Electric.

Moves
========

Bulk Up raises Floatzel's good attack Attack stat even further and rasies raises its defense Defense stat, allowing it to take some physical attackers more comfortably. Baton Pass allows Floatzel to quickly pass its Bulk Up boosts to a teammate. Waterfall is a reliable STAB move that does decent damage after a boost, (RC) and has a chance to flinch the opposing Pokemon. Taunt prevents Pokemon from phazing Floatzel with Whirlwind or Roar. It also prevents opposing Pokemon from using Taunt, spreading status, setting up hazards, and setting up alongside Floatzel. Ice Punch is the an alternative to hit Grass-types such as Cacturne, Lilligant, Torterra, (AC) and Vileplume.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed EVs plus with a Timid nature are used to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, outspeeding Archeops and Tauros while speed tying with Sneasel. Maximum HP EVs increases its bulk and allows Floatzel to take more hits as it sets up Bulk Up. Leftovers gives it passive recovery as it uses Bulk Up and, (AC) if using Substitute, allows Floatzel to create more Substitutes. Water Veil prevents Floatzel from being burned, (AC) which allows it to set up on bulky Water-types without fear of Scald.

Usage Tips
========

Use Bulk Up on forced switches or against Pokemon that cannot do much back, (AC) such as Prinplup, Pelipper, (AC) and Mantine. Use Taunt against to shut down (done for parallel structure) passive Pokemon, such as Audino and Prinplup, (AC) and to prevent opposing Pokemon from crippling Floatzel with Thunder Wave or Toxic status (pretty subjective, but it gets rid of the "ors" and makes things more concise) and to prevent Pokemon from or phazing Floatzel out. Use Baton Pass to pass Bulk Up boosts to a teammate and also to maintain offensive momentum, (AC) even when no boosts are passed. Try to keep Floatzel healthy throughout the match, as it does not have any form of reliable recovery. Also scout for Haze on Mantine, (AC) as it switches in easily and nullifies Floatzel's boosts.

Team Options
========

Teammates for this Floatzel set include physical attackers, such as Kangaskhan, Sneasel, Mawile, and Tauros, as they greatly appreciate the added attack Attack and physical bulk Defense boosts. Quagsire is a very problematic Pokemon for this set, as it ignores any stat boosts Floatzel has attained, so Grass-types such as Cacturne, Lilligant, and Torterra make great partners. Fire-types, such as Magmortar and Pyroar, (AC) also makes great partners, (AC) as they easily take down problematic Grass-types for Floatzel if it is lacking Ice Punch.

Other Options
=============

Choice Specs with Switcheroo is another an option, but Floatzel likes to freely switch moves because of its coverage. Similarly, (AC) Choice band is another option to take advantage of its good Attack and Switcheroo. Switcheroo plus Flame Orb is another option to burn a Pokemon and cripple them further by taking their item. Surf can be used over Hydro Pump if the accuracy is a concern, but the loss in power is notable. Crunch is an option on the Bulk Up set to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mismagius, Mesprit, Uxie, and Musharna. Iron Tail nails Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and Granbull. An offensive Swift Swim set has use on Rain teams, but it faces too much competition from other Swift Swim users such as Ludicolo, Kabutops, and Gorebyss. Switcheroo plus Flame Orb is another option to burn a Pokemon and cripple them further by taking their item. Hidden Power Grass is another option to OHKOes Quagsire, but it gets hit hard enough by Hydro Pump. Crunch is an option on the Bulk Up set to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Mismagius, Mesprit, Uxie, and Musharna. Substitute is another option on the Bulk Up set that prevents Floatzel from being hit by moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic and to ensures the Baton Pass recipient switches in safely. An offensive Swift Swim set has use on Rain teams, but it faces too much competition from other Swift Swim users such as Ludicolo, Kabutops, and Gorebyss. (Reordered some sentences in order to keep subjects similar. There were also some changes in grammar and tense but they've been lost in the sea of edits, sorry :/)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types, (AC) such as Lanturn, Prinplup, Mantine, Poliwrath, Quagsire, (AC) and Pelipper, (AC) give Floatzel problems, (AC) as it cannot do much back to them while all of them can cripple Floatzel with Toxic. Lanturn only fears Hidden Power Grass and hits Floatzel super effectively with Volt Switch. Poliwrath is able to phaze Floatzel's Bulk Up set regardless of Taunt with Circle Throw and is immune to Waterfall. Quagsire ignores any boosts Floatzel has attained attains on its Bulk Up set with Unaware.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types, such as Vileplume, Lilligant, and Cacturne, (AC) all can give Floatzel problems, though none of them appreciate taking Ice Beam or Ice Punch. All of them except for Choice Scarf Lilligant are also naturally outsped and can be hit with coverage move if they switch in. Vileplume is a problem for Floatzel's Bulk Up set, as it is not even 4HKOd 4HKOed without boosts while it threatens Floatzel with Giga Drain. Lilligant sets up Quiver Dance on Floatzel's Bulk Up set if it is lacking Ice Punch and OHKOes with Giga Drain. However, none of these Grass-types appreciate taking an Ice Beam or Ice Punch. All of them, except for Choice Scarf Lilligant, are also naturally outsped and can be hit with coverage move if they switch in. (Once again did some reordering)

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon, (AC) such as Zebstrika and Swellow, (AC) as well as Choice Scarf users, such as Rotom, Magneton, Mesprit, and Lilligant, revenge kill Floatzel, as well as Choice Scarf users such as Rotom, Magneton, Mesprit and Lilligant, though none of these Pokemon are able to safely switch in.

[OVERVIEW]

Floatzel stands out in NU as one of the fastest Pokemon in the NU metagame, outspeeding many threatening Pokemon, (AC) such as Archeops and Tauros, as well as speed Speed tying with Sneasel. Floatzel has decent offensive stats that allow it to be either a special or physical attacker, (AC) giving it some versatility. Its typing also gives it a good match up match-up against many Stealth Rock users, making Floatzel act as decent lead. Floatzel's ability, Water Veil, also allows it to switch into Will-O-Wisp and Scald without fear of being burned. Floatzel is also the viable Pokemon in the tier with access to both Bulk Up and Baton Pass, giving it a unique niche that lets it support its teammates. However, Floatzel faces competition from Samurott, which has more wall breaking wallbreaking prowess with its access to Swords Dance, (RC) ; (Add Semicolon) though, (AC) unlike Samurott, Floatzel has less issues with Ferroseed because it has Focus Blast. Floatzel is also very frail, taking major damage from strong resisted attacks and can being easily be revenge killed by many Choice Scarf users.

Hydro Pump is a powerful Water-type STAB move that hits even neutral targets hard. Ice Beam has great coverage with Hydro Pump and hits Grass- and Flying-types such as Lilligant, Vileplume, and Scyther. Focus Blast rounds out Floatzel's coverage, (AC) allowing Floatzel to hit Ferroseed, which otherwise walls Floatzel.

Maximum Speed EVs plus with a Timid nature are used to outspeed as many Pokemon as possible, outspeeding Archeops and Tauros while speed Speed tying with Sneasel. Maximum Special Attack EVs are to allow Floatzel to hit as hard as possible. The choice between the two abilities is a personal preference: Water Veil is great for allowing Floatzel to switch into Scald without fear of being worn down by burns while, (RC) Swift Swim, (RC) allows it to take on opposing Swift Swim Pokemon on rain teams such as Kabutops and Gorebyss. A Life Orb gives a significant power boost to Floatzel's attacks and allows it to switch moves freely.

Usage Tips

Floatzel is best brought in with a U-turn or Volt Switch user, (RC) or after a Pokemon has fainted, as it takes a lot of damage from most neutral hits. This set is meant to be more played as a revenge killer and a late-game cleaner, (AC) so try to preserve it until then. Use Taunt to shut down defensive Pokemon such as Prinplup and Mega Audino and Prinplup, giving and give Floatzel a better match up against defensive teams.

Team Options

Mr. Uncompetitive, you unfortunately missed some important details here. However, there were a lot of things in this analysis that needed to be changed to begin with, and the numerous changes you did make were pretty much perfect, so I'll stamp it. Keep up the good work; just try not to rush.
