RULES & REGULATIONS

4v4 Doubles

5 Chills / 2 Recovery
Switch: KO
Items: Off
Abilities: All

A few miles off the coast of land a large pillar sticks out of the ocean. It reaches up into the clouds, the top blocked from view when the sky is not clear. Atop the pillar lies a square battlefield, traditional in almost every sense. However, a few important differences set this place apart from your standard Pokemon arena.

First of all, the pillar itself is hollow and filled with water, that creates a pool at the fields center, giving combatants a water source other than the sea miles below. Secondly, the field itself is exceptionally thin, and as such all Pokemon who attempt to bury through it will plummet to their demise if they cannot keep themselves aloft. Finally, at each corner of the field are pillars with what appear to be nest-like structures at the top. These features allow sky based Pokemon to rest their wings more easily.

But what is even more important than the physical features of the arena are the natural effects of the location. Due to its location above the tropical seas and the directness of the sun's rays, hail turns to rain before it ever reaches the ground. Additionally, a lack of sand makes summoning a sandstorm impossible.

However, the most prominent feature of the gym is the wind. At this high altitude, strong winds are nearly a constant. The prevailing air currents bring big gusts in from the west on a regular basis, from right behind where the gym leader stands. This provides a constant effect similar to a Tailwind at one third of normal strength for the gym leader's Pokemon. In addition, the strong winds also amplify moves that use their effects, boosting their power and their accuracy as.

Summary:

  • No Sandstorm or Hail
  • The thin battle platform prevents Dig.
    • Well technically using Dig will just cause the digging Pokemon to plummet thousands of feet into the water below, putting them out of bounds and knocking them out of the battle.
    • Flying and Levitating Pokemon who won't fall can still use Dig, but it won't actually do anything.
    • Seriously though, this is the flying gym. Why would you be using Dig anyways?
    • All other attacks are allowed.
  • Energy Cost of Roost reduced by 1.
  • Permanent Tailwind-like effect on Gym Leaders side (provides 1.33x speed boost)
  • Wind Based attacks have their base accuracy increased by 10% up to a maximum of 100%
  • Wind Based attacks have base power increased by 2
  • Wind based moves include the following: Hurricane, Razor Wind, Gust, Twister, Air Slash, Ominous Wind, Silver Wind, Heat Wave, Icy Wind (There may be others that I am forgetting)
  • Changes to the accuracy of attacks due to the wind are factored in before any other effects, such as stage boosts to accuracy or evasion.
  • All effects, including the power boost to wind moves and the Tailwind effect, are arena effects, not weather effects, and thus can not be negated by Cloud Nine, Air Lock or other such effects.

Well.... ummm.... Hatchet and Lafayette, you are my two most trusted Pokemon. Lets show this challenger what we can do.

#3
Behemoth. Tempest. Let's do it.

Cyclohm: Rain Dance ~ Thunder Tomohawk ~ Thunder Tomohawk
If Cyclohm is Taunted a1, change action string to Thunder Tomohawk ~ Electroweb~ Thunderbolt Tomohawk
If Cyclohm is Taunted a3 AND the weather is not Rain AND Tomohawk does not have a Substitute up THEN Rain Dance+Twister that actions
Dragonite: Hurricane Tomocock ~ Icy Wind ~ Hurricane Tomohawk
If the weather is not Rain when you are set to use Hurricane, use Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, alternating the two moves for each instance of this
If the weather is rain a3 when you are set to act AND Tomohawk does not have a Substitute AND tomohawk has not used Protect THEN Hurricane+Hurricane Tomohawk that action

Well... this is scary. So lets try our best to be disruptive. I mean, I honestly don't know a way to stop this assault without relying on luck, and we certainly can't power through, so lets hope the RNG likes us.

Tomohawk: Confuse Ray (Dragonite) - Substitute 15 - Toxic (Cyclohm)

Honchkrow: Thunder Wave (Dragonite) - Torment (Cyclohm) - Icy Wind

Hatchet starts the battle by shrieking at the opposition, before firing a strange beam at Tempest, which ends up confusing Tempest, as Lafayette fires a pulse of electricity at Tempest, Paralysing it. Behemoth then does the team thing & lets out a roar, summoning the rain, as Tempest tries to do something, but ends up slapping herself in her confused state. Hatchet then senses danger, & summons a stuffed doll to take his place, as Lafayette torments Behemoth into a mental state where he cannot repeat attacks! Behemoth then fires a bolt of lightning that crushes Hatchet's doll, as Tempest tries to do something again, but slaps herself, & snaps herself out of confusion! Hatchet then continues by hurling poisonous sludge at Behemoth, badly poisoning her, whilst Lafayette blasts chilled air at the opposing team, striking the two, with Tempest struck critically! Behemoth tries to do something, but cannot due to her mental state, as Tempest finally does something for Texas, firing a super blast of wind that pummels Hatchet for massive damage, & confusing him in the process!

While Texas was haxxed badly this round, he does, however, take a decent lead heading into the next round! What will happen next round? We will find out soon enough!

I really meant to get to this earlier, but I was busy. God I don't like Cyclohm. And Dragonite isn't cool either. Someone remind me why I do this again, please.

Honchkrow: Torment (Dragonite) - Icy Wind - Icy Wind
If Dragonite is veiled by a protective move and Cyclohm is not Confused, use Confuse Ray (Cyclohm) that action and push back, but only once
If Dragonite uses an evasive move and Cyclohm is not Confused, use Confuse Ray (Cyclohm) that action and push back, but only once

Tomohawk: Hidden Power Ice (Dragonite) - Roost - Hidden Power Ice (Dragonite)
If Dragonite is veiled by a protective move action 3, use Earth Power (Cyclohm) that action instead
If Dragonite uses an evasive move action 3, use Earth Power (Cyclohm) that action instead

Hmm, Confusion in favour would be rather helpful here... (note switch=ko)

Cyclohm: Volt Switch Tomohawk, Hurricane Tomohawk, Thunder Tomohawk
If Tomohawk is fainted, target Honchkrow
Dragonite: cooldown, Fly Tomohawk, Heal Bell
If Tomohawk is fainted when you would attack it, Light Screen

Leader jas61292 vs. Challenger Texas Cloverleaf (4v4 Double) - IAR Refs - Round 2

LEADER JAS61292 VS. CHALLENGER TEXAS CLOVERLEAF

Round Two - The Challenger Strikes Back...

Hatchet begins the round in a bedazzled state, but manages to fire off powerful orbs of ice that chill Tempest for plenty of damage, as Lafayette mentally harassed Tempest, putting her into a state where she cannot repeat actions. The Cyclohm then fires herself at Hatchet, striking before reverting back to her Trainer, curing herself of her mental state & weakening her poison, as well as snapping Hatchet out of her state. Meanwhile, Tempest simply cools down, tired from her previous attack. The Tomohawk, sensing danger, then proceeds to drop to the arena floor, roosting & recovering some health, as Lafayette sprays another bout of offence, letting off a cold wind of ice at Texas' team, striking both Behemoth & Tempest whilst slowing Tempest down, but that then results in Behemoth letting off a powerful gust of wind that batters Hatchet for intense damage, before tempest flies into the air, before crashing into Hatchet & knocking him out! 4-3 Texas! Suddenly left on his own, Lafayette blasts off another cold gust of ice, battering Texas' team once more, as Behemoth takes advantage of the rain to let off a massive bolt of lightning that shocks Lafayette to the core! To make matters worse for the Gym Leader, Tempest then manages to get off a bell chime that cures her & Behemoth of their status afflictions!

Round end, & it seems like the Challenger is on his way to getting his first badge! Will Texas continue his march? Or will jas61292 fight back? We will find out next time in this match...

Leader jas61292 vs. Challenger Texas Cloverleaf (4v4 Double) - IAR Refs - Round 3

LEADER JAS61292 VS. CHALLENGER TEXAS CLOVERLEAF

Round Three - Fightback?

Well, it appears the leader is in trouble at the moment, so he sends in Roosevelt to replace Hatchet! Can the Salamence help salvage the situation for the leader?

Not so soon as the round begins, Roosevelt lets off a shrieking cry, before combining with Lafayette to take out Tempest in a series of dark blows! 3-3 All! Roosevelt's confidence grows from this, as he becomes a bit stronger! Behemoth then spurts an electric web from her mouth, zapping Roosevelt & Lafayette, whilst slowing the two down. Behemoth then gets the jump, casting off a chilling wave of ice which deals intense damage to the two Flying-Types, as Roosevelt fires a wave of draconic energy at Behemoth, whilst Lafayette uses Behemoth's own attack against her, using mirrors to strike Behemoth with an ice wave. Lafayette then starts making an evasive measure, managing to just dodge Behemoth's electric beam, only for Roosevelt to strike Behemoth with meteors, & taking out the Cyclohm! 3-2 jas61292!

Round end, & while the leader has scoreboard advantage, it appears that Texas Cloverleaf's final two Pokemon do not look friendly for the leader...What will happen next? Find out soon.

Time to play the "lets hope I can get one KOC" game. Oh wait, double team clones...Oh well. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Sky Attack (Syclant) - Sky Attack (Syclant) - Quick Attack + Fly (Syclant)

Leader jas61292 vs. Challenger Texas Cloverleaf (4v4 Doubles) - IAR Refs - Round 5

LEADER JAS61292 VS. CHALLENGER TEXAS CLOVERLEAF

Round Five - Slaughter

And with all hope seemingly lost for the leader, jas61292 sends out Bird the Unfezant as a last line of defence!

Bird (F)
Abilities: Big Pecks/Super Luck/Rivalry
HP/EN: 100 / 100
Stats: 4 / 2 / 4 / 2 / 93
SC/WC/BRT: 2 / 3 / 18
Boosts: N/A
Status: N/A

And the leader could do little to stop Texas Cloverleaf's assault, as two attacks from both opponents ends up taking out the Unfezant, though Bird did manage to wipe out IceBug's clones with her only attack...But nevertheless, the challenger has prevailed today & walks home with the Flying Badge after a comfortable 2-0 victory!
