This thread lists rules that all who wish to participate in Smogon's Rate My Team forum must follow. Even if you read them beforehand, it is highly recommended taking few minutes to review again. There is a certain level of proficiency expected from all the users posting an RMT. This goes same for all the users criticizing posted RMT(s); if you are clueless of what you are talking about please refrain yourself from posting. If you do not choose to maintain such level of integrity for whatever reason, don't expect the consequences to be pretty either. It should be noted there is a Past Generation Teams section where GSC, RBY, ADV and DPPt teams are kept. OU teams is solely there for all Sixth Generation OverUsed teams. Other Teams sub-forum consists of X and Y UnderUsed, RarelyUsed, Ubers, LittleCup, VGC, and Other teams. If you have a Black and White OverUsed team, use the BW OU teams sub-forum and the BW Other Teams sub-forum for teams that are not OU. While making an RMT, please post it in its appropriate sub-forum as it makes Team Raters lives so much easier. I have compiled a several quick and handy links which help tremendously while making an RMT or criticizing it. Image Resize source. Pokemon Sprite Source. Damage Calculator link can be found here. If you're having troubles with the interpretation of any of the above rules feel free to private message an RMT moderator, you can find their names at the bottom of the page. Here is a list of general RMT Rules which must be obeyed all the times, NO EXCEPTIONS: Read all the other threads with the wordings "REQUIRED READING" in the title. You must read them as they point out basic understanding on how to perform well in the forum and some general tips. Those threads were written by experienced Team Raters and basically give a much better comprehend on How to make a successful RMT and Rate within the set standards. Do not post incomplete teams. If you are smart enough to pick five Pokemon, you can easily pick another one. If you are smart enough to pick nine, you can easily cut that down to six. Make sure to include natures, EV spreads, abilities and items. If you are unsure of your selections, make a note of this or simply add a question mark after them so team raters can help you focus on perceived problems first. The general format for presenting a Pokemon's overview can be found in the hide tags although its not absolutely required as long as everything is simple easily visible. Be sure to make your presentation appealing as possible, if it's lacking something an RMT Moderator won't hesitate to edit in order to make it better. Rough Overview (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Rough Overview (open) Rough Overview (close) [insert mons sprite here] Pokemon @ Item Trait: EVs: Nature: ~ Move 1 ~ Move 2 ~ Move 3 ~ Move 4 Filled Overview (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Filled Overview (open) Filled Overview (close) Latios (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature ~ Draco Meteor ~ Psyshock ~ Earthquake ~ Defog Have some actual words in your post beyond your six Pokemon and their moves. Not following this makes your post quite boring to read and rate. All Pokemon should have a good reason for being in your team anyway, so why not post that reason? If you are having trouble with this one, start by giving an explanation for each team member. Why are they there? What role do they serve? How do you get them in? Then, give an explanation of how you would open with the team and how you would go about using it. All of these things help people rate your team and allow us to offer more helpful advice. This does not mean add one sentence saying "Standard x" or "all-around awesome" after each Pokemon. If you put thought into making the team, you can put thought into posting it. The standard description length required is three to four lines, if you need more insight look on the detail part, check out the RMT Archive. Avoid being repetitive. Making a new RMT thread is fine, but you should not be reposting your old team every few weeks. In the same vein, you should try to limit the number of threads you post. Even if your teams are different, you should not be posting a thread every few days. There has to be a two weeks time period from the last post in your RMT thread to the one you're going to post. This is very crucial. Making co-operative RMT(s) is acceptable as long as they don't involve posting multiple threads. To clarify you should get your partner to post one thread and you post the other one. Thread title: If your team is something other than the typical OU / Standard 1 v 1, it is a good idea to include this in the title. Some team raters focus on other metagames such as 2 v 2 or Ubers, so including something about this in your title helps to direct them to your thread. This is very important, especially when you post a team meant to be played into a metagame with different rules / banlists than those we use on Smogon. Please be creative while choosing the title as it may or may not want users to look through it. Note: This rule is specifically related to Rule 13. Formatting. Make your post readable. If the format is messy and illegible you will not be likely to receive help and may have your thread locked. Adding pictures to your post can make it more visually appealing too. Put some effort into the presentation of your RMT. Adding tasteful, reasonably sized pictures of your Pokemon is encouraged as it helps with legibility. Note: This is entirely up to the discretion of the mods. Here is a guideline on how to post each Pokemon: Rough Overview (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Rough Overview (open) Rough Overview (close) [insert mons sprite here] Pokemon @ Item Trait: EVs: Nature: ~ Move 1 ~ Move 2 ~ Move 3 ~ Move 4 - Detailed description of the Pokemon's purpose to the team - Filled Overview (Move your mouse to reveal the content) Filled Overview (open) Filled Overview (close) Credit to Valentine, taken from Force of Nature. Latios (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Levitate EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Draco Meteor - Psyshock - Earthquake - Defog Latios' primary function is to remove hazards from the field, giving Charizard and Thundurus room to breathe. Apart from Aerodactyl and Crobat, Lati@s is the fastest Defog user in the tier, which means it performs its job excellently. Draco Meteor offers your team a high damage nuke that obliterates any non-fairy or steel types. Psyshock is a secondary STAB that allows you to exploit traditional special walls, hitting them from their defensive side. This makes Latios a dangerous mixed attacker that can 2HKO a large majority of the tier, including Fairy types like Azumarill and Sylveon. Earthquake, although admittedly suboptimal, is a fun gimmick that is used to catch Heatran off guard. The early removal of Heatran gives you the whole match to spam Zard-Y Fire Blasts. Earthquake also rounds off Latios' coverage, allowing you to hit pesky Steel types, like Bisharp and Aegislash, before they take you out with Pursuit. This is not set in stone, but the above example or a slight variation thereof makes for a much "cleaner" post. Alternately, you can use Pokemon Online and Pokemon Showdown!'s "Export to Text" feature under File / Teambuilder, which gives you a simple, clean format similar to the one above with all the information already filled in for you. Again, though, make sure to add descriptions of each Pokemon. Bumping: If your team is interesting enough to comment on, people will do it for you. If no one at all comments on your RMT for around 24 hours, feel free to bump it. After you have bumped your thread once, or after it has been inactive for two weeks, do not bump it again unless you are making significant changes. "Stealth Bumps" will not be tolerated. Moderators and Administrators can see your deleted posts, so do yourself and us a favor and do not even attempt this. If you have a thread on Page 5 that has not been posted in in a while and you want a completely different team rated, it is OK to post a new thread. If you are just making a few changes to your team, simply bump the old thread (you still should not be bumping if your thread has been inactive for a long time). If your thread is locked / deleted, do not re-post it until you have corrected entirely what caused a moderator / administrator to lock / delete it in the first place. You may PM RMT moderators asking why your thread was locked and they will provide a brief explanation. When posting a team, do realize that you are posting it mainly for the purpose of people looking at it and criticizing it. If you cannot take that, do not post your team. It is fine if you explain why you are using your set and not the one they suggested, and of course you are always free not to take advice, but going all-out against offered help is not the way to do it. This will not be tolerated at the slightest, it may or may not result in your thread getting locked, mostly depends on what you post. Threat list: It is not required you post a threat list, a short summary of any threats you have identified and would like help covering is fine. However, if you are posting a threat list, please try to complete it properly. If you want to post a threat list in a separate post, its fine by all means but please try to post it all at once or edit in at a later time. It's quite stupid for individuals to post "Threat List: Updating Soon" and then wait 48 hours (or sometimes its never actually done) just to update it. Just save the entire post in the Notepad / Microsoft Word and copy + paste everything when you are ready to go. It's very critical you post everything all at once, for several reasons, first it's always a good idea to have everything in proper order and make it visually appealing, secondly it helps team raters look at the threats and fix them accordingly. Custom Rules. If you are playing with a different rule set from the standard, please gives details so team raters know what the limitations are. For those of you interested in playing on our OU ladder or in any of our OU tournaments, here is the running list of our bans: Clauses: Species Clause: No more than one of the same Pokemon on a team. Sleep Clause: No two Pokemon may be put to sleep at the same time. No OHKOs: Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill and Sheer Cold are all banned. No Evasion: Double Team and Minimize are banned. Items: Soul Dew Gengarite Kangaskhanite Lucarionite Abilities: Moody Species: Arceus Blaziken Darkrai Deoxys-A Deoxys Dialga Genesect Giratina Giratina-O Groudon Ho-Oh Kyogre Kyurem-W Lugia Mewtwo Palkia Rayquaza Reshiram Shaymin-S Xerneas Yveltal Zekrom For specifics on how we arrived at these bans and how we decide these things in general, please check out our Policy Review forum. DO NOT use annoying fonts, colors, etc. It will have a more negative impact than otherwise because it makes you look like an attention whore. You are only permitted to have one active RMT thread open at any given time. Don't post a new team every week, wait some time before posting another RMT. Ideally you should post a new RMT after two weeks from your last team's post. This is a forum for the regular 6th Gen metagame, not one with any custom or modified Pokemon. RMT(s) with CAP Pokemon should go in the CAP forum; for other servers with modified Pokemon / rulesets, check out their corresponding forums and rules. Note that this rule also applies to teams meant to be played on Pokemon Showdown's! official server. Since they're currently using a different tiering system, you're required to specify, in the title of your RMT, that the team doesn't belong to Smogon's metagame. Furthermore, 4th Gen teams (and those of earlier gens too) belong in the Ruins Of Alph subforum in Smogon Metagames section. As a site dedicated to competitive battling, we request that your team is as competitive as possible within its given metagame. In-game teams and gimmick teams will be closed. Battle Tower teams are still permitted. "Theme Teams" are also OK as long as they demonstrate an understanding of the competitive metagame they are to be used in. Play with your team before putting it up for rate. We as a community cannot emphasize this enough. No one wants to rate the team that you freshly created while eating breakfast or the gimmick you randomly put together. We as a community want teams that have been battle tested so that the obvious flaws have been hammered out. This is particularly because just by playing with a team, you yourself can figure out what is wrong with your team. You don't need other people to help you quite yet - and to be blunt, you're just being lazy or have the wrong idea of what the RMT forum is if you're posting teams you spent fifteen minutes creating. It is expected that you know the game to a certain degree of proficiency before posting your team for a rate here. Recently there has been a surge of teams made by players obviously brand new to the competitive scene -- there is little that can be done to help you here I'm afraid. This is the 'RATE' my team forum, not 'REBUILD my team for me' forum. Best place to go to in that situation would be Battling 101, the Mentorship Program, and the Introduction to Competitive Pokemon article on site. If your team is deemed to show a severe lack of the understanding of the metagame, it will be closed and possibly infracted. This is completely up to the discretion of the mods.
