Shame you don't like the rules. I don't either. But they are the rules.

Handbook: An attack clause takes the form "If Pokemon X uses move or move class Y" or "If X is ordered" or "If Pokemon is to use X" or even "IF Move". However, despite the terminology used, the substitution with that clause will activate if the right move is ordered, regardless of whether or not the move is actually successfully used. A substitution in the form "IF X is successfully used" or "IF Successful X" is regarded as a Chance Substitution, more on which is below.

There are a gazillion precedents on the matter.
 
See that's what I said, I then got two different people saying no.
Rainman's argument is that the sub would be illegal since the move was made illegal (which I disagree with, not on principle mind you but in rules as written).
Dogfish's argument was that the move used isn't Acid Armor anymore, it's Struggle (which lines up with the WoG I got back a while ago from IAR regarding stuff like this).

This is why I spent the last half hour being upset on IRC by the way. Why are we wasting time with nonsense like Spide Web when this kind of thing is still an issue?
Seems way more pressing and important for ASB to fix than Spider Web.

But fine, I'll do it. I only took this reffing so you could have fun and now I just gave you a headache. *sigh*
