Honestly, Lillie doesn't feel at all like her counterpart from the games imo. From what I've read she's living in a Mansion and even has a Butler whom Ash will battle in the next episode if I'm not mistaken, so I'm really at loss here as well. I mean, she COULD be hiding Cosmog, but it just doesn't seem likely at this point. Maybe she has yet to steal Cosmog and run away? Or maybe the anime is simply ditching the games and doing its own thing like it has done before.

I have been enjoying this season till now, but the last episode wasn't that good. Yeah, the humor was mostly good and I am really enjoying the new expression changes but still they could have used the episode to give that fat kid some kind of back-story or something.
A new teaser trailer for the next movie called: Pokemon I Choose You was released today.

Everyone keeps saying "first episode" , but do they mean the only includes Ash obtaining Pikachu?
Or do they mean the "Kanto franchise" as a whole?

I think they just mean the first episode. The movie's subtitle is the first episode's title in both Japanese and English (Pokemon, I Choose You!).
There's plenty to expand upon in the movie that had to be rushed over in the anime. Ash & Gary's rivalry, Ash trying to work with Pikachu... actually I think that's pretty much it, but both of those are enough to fill out the movie's runtime.
I'm just wondering if there's anyone b****ing about them changing Ash's first hat. :P

Sorry, I don't understand it. I wouldn't want to watch a 2 hour movie with such a small plot.
I do hope it's all the way up to Elite 4 and so.
Ash's hat though, most people from Asian communities are saying that the hat design indicates it's another Ash from another parallel universe-- possibly the Ash from the universe in which he won the league.

Lol the VA are actually pretty nice. I don't think any of them are too far off, honestly, except for maybe Ash, but I never liked his english VA to begin with so that's whatever.
Btw I don't know if anyone cares, but we got to "see" Lusamine for the 1st time in the anime and the latest episode heavily implies that she, somehow, had something to do with Lillie's inability touch pokemon. We also got a glimpse of what Gladion looked like before his mom went full batshitcrazy mode.

Well, it seems like this Lillie will have a little different role, no Cosmog yet, but eh, if it is implied that Lillie here came from rich family too, I wonder how the story will unfold.
Maybe unlike the past regions, the main plot here will be going earlier and smoothly. We already met the Skull gang and now we are presented Lillie's backstory.

I like how it is also Lusamine's Pokemon in-game. That same Lilligant that bruteforced and KOed my own in second battle and a Cleffa that may lead her team.

To be fair, Lillie can't exactly steal Cosmog while she's still afraid.
Intrigued as to where she goes though. She became very interesting after a much needed development episode.

After several episodes, I think I actually like the SM anime. Maybe even more than XY.
The personalities of the cast and the Pokemon are really well done.
The small details, such as picking up Litten by the neck, Litten wearing a surgical flask to prevent it from licking its wounds... how Alolan Persian acts like a total douchebag when it's away from its owner but acts like a cute sweet little thing when she's in sight, etc.
Lillie having cans of different Pokemon food for different Pokemon ,etc.
Those are getting closer and closer to the "true Pokemon world" I've imagined for years. (I always imagine that Pokemon are just like animals in our world, and they behave differently, eat different foods, and each species having their unique personality, etc.)
I mean, it's getting more and more realistic, from an ecological aspect and a behavioral aspect.
It's something I think the XY anime lacked. XY focused a lot on the human casts, especially Serena, but hardly ever worked hard on the personalities of Pokemon.
Thinking back, XY was like a Shojo manga with Pokemon, instead of Pokemon. Because it felt like Pokemon was not the focus of the anime.

I'm actually enjoying the pokemon anime? What is going on? I'm liking this series so far the cast is good with no annoyances like Iris and the humor seems better than some of the older series too (reminds me of indigo league). Alola is a beautiful region and the perfect setting. I hope we get to see messed up Lusamine and maybe even Mohn somehow.

Looks like they might be leaving out Ilima, instead having Hala in charge of Melemele's Trial.
Er... alright, though I don't like they're leaving out characters already, if they were to leave one out I don't mind Ilima. He's not really that developed in the games so there's nothing about him which will be missed if he's not in the anime. Course, considering his role in the games, one must wonder why he wasn't at the Trainer School.

Ilima wasnt that generic, honestly his involvement early game is quite hefty even under tutorial circumstances.
Honestly, I think him being such a bland character was a standout trait given how much more depth all the other characters have. Being boring and generic also plays into him being a Normal-Type specialist.
But yeah, judging the reactions here, I feel like the anime is improving on points I never felt were weak or poorly done but the most glaring issues remain ignored. Those being poor battles both by logic (like typing being consistently ignored and no sense of what Pokémon are actually good at) and performance (XY has cool animations, but most enemies would just stand there doing nothing while Ash-Greninja trounces them) and many characters being cut (like almost all of the E4s and a few secondaries such as Eusine) or butchered (Sabrina, Colress, Lysandre etc.).
Still, not having contests alone makes SM one of the better seasons by default.

Hmmmm... then I think Ilima's probably male.
And having a pink haired male as a major character might be too controversial for the Japanese people to handle.
(I still am not happy why they have to ban males from cosplaying females in Japan's largest comic-con in this day and age.)

I don't want to get into this too much, but in that case they should have banned people from having sex (gay or straight) and doing kinky things instead if you ask me.
