Gogoat

QC: Raiza. / TONE114 / Magnemite

[OVERVIEW]

Gogoat distinguishes itself from other Pokemon in the PU metagame with its good bulk along with reliable recovery in Milk Drink that allows it to survive throughout battles. Its typing gives it resistances to common offensive types such as Water, Ground, and Electric as well as immunity to Grass thanks to Sap Sipper. It has a very diverse offensive movepool, which gives it multiple options. On the downside, it is relatively weak without any boosts and it is very slow, making it vulnerable to status moves and revenge killers. It faces major competition from multiple Grass-types in the metagame, namely Roselia, Tangela, Jumpluff, and Sawsbuck, each of which has a niche over Gogoat, making it hard for Gogoat to win over a teamslot against them.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Bulk Up boosts Gogoat's Attack and Defense stats, which allows it to progressively deal more damage and take more physical hits, making it harder to revenge kill. Horn Leech can deal good damage while recovering health, which increases Gogoat's longevity. Earthquake allows Gogoat to deal super effective damage to Fire-types such as Ninetales and Steel-types such as Pawniard, which resist Horn Leech. Milk Drink heals half of Gogoat's maximum HP, which helps it survive for longer amounts of time. Alternatively, Substitute can be used to avoid status moves such as Will-O-Wisp and Toxic.

Set Details
========

228 HP EVs and 232 Special Defense EVs along with a Careful nature allow Gogoat to maximize its overall bulk, while 48 Attack EVs are used to OHKO Ninetales and 2HKO offensive Roselia at +1 Attack. Leftovers gives Gogoat passive recovery, allowing it to last longer and making it easier to set up. Sap Sipper grants Gogoat an immunity to Grass-type moves and boosts its Attack when its hit by one.

Usage Tips
========

Gogoat can be switched into a Grass-type move such as Leech Seed, but it shouldn't switch into some Grass-types, such as Roselia and Tangela, as the former can deal super effective damage to it with Sludge Bomb and the latter can take multiple hits from it and hit it for super effective damage with Hidden Power Ice or Hidden Power Fire; however, if Tangela is carrying Ancient Power over Hidden Power, Gogoat can set up on it. Gogoat shouldn't set up on faster Taunt users such as Misdreavus and Grumpig, as they can prevent it from doing so and then cripple it with Will-O-Wisp or Toxic, respectively. It shouldn't stay in on a Pokemon that can inflict status upon it unless it is carrying Substitute. Gogoat should take advantage of bulkier but weaker Pokemon such as Lickilicky and set up on them. Gogoat shouldn't be switched in when Toxic Spikes is present on its side of the field, as poison cripples it and limits how long it can stay in to set up. Gogoat can switch into and set up on Water-types such as Poliwrath, as it resists Water and takes little damage from Ice Beam; however, it should be wary of Scald, which could inflict burn. Horn Leech or Milk Drink should be used during Gogoat's free turns, especially if it has been weakened. Horn Leech should be the preferred move to use, as it recovers health and it has STAB bonus; use Earthquake if you predict a faster Fire-type to come in, though it's rather risky. If the opponent has a Pokemon such as Gourgeist-XL, Gogoat should use Substitute to avoid status; it shouldn't be switched into Pokemon that can inflict status on it, such as Misdreavus.

Team Options
========

Gogoat appreciates Stealth Rock support from Pokemon such as Probopass and Piloswine in order to help it take on some of its weaknesses, such as Fire-, Flying-, and Bug-types. It also appreciates Spikes and Toxic Spikes support from Pokemon such as Roselia and Whirlipede. Poison-types such as Roselia and Swalot are helpful as partners, as they can absorb Toxic Spikes. Rapid Spinners and Defoggers such as Armaldo and Pelipper are helpful to Gogoat to prevent it from taking unneccessary damage. Grumpig is a good partner for Gogoat, as it can take Ice- and Fire-type attacks that Gogoat is weak to as well as provide Heal Bell support; Lickilicky also works well as a cleric to get rid of Gogoat's status inflictions as well as restore its health with Wish. Gogoat appreciates wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Rapidash, as they can weaken bulkier Pokemon for an easier sweep. Pokemon that are weak to Grass-type moves, such as Golem and Poliwrath, appreciate Gogoat's immunity to them. Gogoat synergizes well with Fire- and Water-types such as Rapidash and Poliwrath, as they can cover one another's weaknesses.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Gogoat can run a more offensive EV spread to deal more immediate damage, although its Speed can hold it back from sweeping. It can also use Substitute + Leech Seed to slowly wear down foes and keep itself healthy, though it loses out on Bulk Up. It can also be used as a defensive wall, but it is outclassed by Tangela in this role. A mixed offensive set could be used to take advantage of its wide movepool, though it is easily revenge killed because of its low Speed. Rock Slide can be used in order to hit Flying-types such as Jumpluff and Dodrio, though it then misses out on Earthquake, which makes it setup fodder for Pokemon such as Pawniard.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types**: Flying-types such as Jumpluff and Dodrio resist Gogoat's main STAB move and are immune to Earthquake; they can also deal super effective damage to it in return.

**Status**: Will-O-Wisp halves Gogoat's Attack stat, while Toxic or poison from Toxic Spikes puts it on a timer, forcing it to switch out; however, if Gogoat is carrying Substitute, it can avoid status.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Ninetales and Rapidash resist Gogoat's STAB move and can deal super effective damage to it, but Gogoat can KO them with Earthquake.

**Taunt**: Pokemon such as Grumpig and Misdreavus can prevent Gogoat from setting up or healing; the former can deal a lot of damage to it with Psychic, while the latter can burn it with Will-O-Wisp.

**Ice-types**: Ice-types such as Rotom-F and Articuno take little damage from Gogoat's attacks and deal super effective damage to it.

**Poison-types**: Poison-types such as Roselia and Swalot resist Gogoat's STAB moves, but pure Poison-types such as Swalot are weak to Earthquake.

say the ph def boost also makes gogoat harder to revengekill
well you talk about rock slide but it isnt even slashed, slash it or move the mention to OO

mention leftovers

Usage Tips
========
mention that it gains an attack boost when switching on grass moves, though mention that some grass-types such as roselia and tangela can give some trouble to gogoat anyway
mention it should not setup on faster taunt users such as misdreavus
mention it prefers to not be brought in on the field when toxic spikes are present on own field as they cripple it
mention Gogoat can switch in and set up on Pokemon it forces the switch or has a type advantage over, though it should be wary to water-types bc of scald burn.
mention horn leech should be the preferred move to use because it recovers some health and it has STAB bonus, though Gogoat could predict the switch in of faster fire-types and use earthquake, though it's rather risky.
mention gogoat should not be switched in on Pokemon that carry status moves such as Will-O-Wisp and Toxic, such as Misdreavus and Tangela.

Team Options
========
gogoat also appreciates spikes support
gogoat also appreciates entry hazard removal because toxic spikes are annoying
because of that ^ poison types that can remove toxic spikes are appreciated, especially ones that can also deal with bulky grass-types such as tangela
mention more clerics
mention more Pokemon with typing synergy, such as water- and fire-types

remember to mention drawbacks of these other options at least in the writeup

Checks and Counters

in status also mention toxic spikes
in ice-types add more examples
mention poison-types

In Usage Tips, say that Gogoat can come in on most special attackers, especially Water-types as Ice Beam won't do much to it and can scare them out with Horn Leech or use Milk Drink to heal off any damage but must beware of possible burns from Scald. Add Rock Slide to OO to nail Flying-types.

2/3.

in usage tips, say why it can't switch in on said grass types (it actually can switch in on ancientpower tangela, so i'd make that clear)

in the overview, make big mentions of the fact that gogoat faces a TON of competition as a grass-type. it's really hard to justify using this sometimes when the opportunity cost is not being able to use roselia, tangela, jumpluff, sawsbuck, etc and this is one of gogoat's main problems, so you should address it in the overview.

nicely written ^_^ mostly just minor flow changes here. added some "however"s to make the transitions smoother, but you can substitute them for some other transition if you like.
