Overview
########
As a guaranteed means of removing entry hazards, Defog is one of the most important moves in the RU metagame-and as a fairly bulky Pokemon with a good defensive typing and a reliable recovery move, Golbat is one of its best users. It also has serious utility with Infiltrator Toxic, which allows it to cripple threatening boosters such as SubCM Cresselia right through their Substitutes, as well as Super Fang and Taunt, which let it wear down Steel-types like few others and take on defensive Pokemon and hazards users, respectively. Although Golbat walls Grass-types quite well and takes on Fighting-types pretty well with a STAB Brave Bird, its typing unfortunately leaves it open to being hit super effectively by a whole heap of strong offensive types, specifically Electric, Ice, Rock, and Psychic. While Golbat is capable of tanking hits and Defogging away hazards, it often lets entry hazard users, especially the prominent Mega Steelix and Rhyperior, switch back in and reset their hazards, and it certainly can't come in on them to Defog; it also lets most Steel-types do whatever they will, though Taunt and Super Fang generally help in these regards. Because Golbat is weak to the Stealth Rock it is tasked with removing, and because the Fighting-types it walls often carry Knock Off to remove its Eviolite and thus slash its defenses, Golbat can be hard-pressed to stay alive and keep doing its job, but it can definitely fill the needs of your team if used correctly.

Defog gets rid of entry hazards, while Roost gets rid of incurred damage. Brave Bird prevents Golbat from being entirely Taunt bait and hits Fighting-, Bug- and Grass-types super effectively, which is convenient since Golbat also has a 4x resistance to those types. Toxic provides general wearing-down utility and specifically gives Golbat a tool to status foes behind a Substitute, ending any chance of them sweeping, while Super Fang does a lot of damage overall and gives Golbat a way to threaten Steel-types; Taunt messes with defensive Pokemon and lets Golbat defeat entry hazard users.
Set Details
========
248 HP EVs and an Eviolite confer general bulk and an entry hazards number, while 252 Defense EVs along with an Impish nature crucially buff up Golbat's physical bulk. Infiltrator allows Golbat to penetrate Substitutes for the team's benefit.
Usage Tips
========
Try to Defog whenever you can, though if your opponent is likely to switch in a Stealth Rock user that beats Golbat, it may be best to just Roost and keep its health high, especially if your opponent also has a dangerous threat Golbat needs to stay alive for. In general, hitting a foe Golbat walls with Toxic and stalling it out with Roost is better than taking it out with Brave Bird, as the latter option can leave Golbat fairly low on HP, though feel free to finish it right away if Golbat has no other role to fill. If your opponent has a Fighting-type such as Hitmonlee or Sawk, Golbat will be hit by Knock Off; make peace with this, although trying to switch into Fighting-type moves is still a good idea. Watch out for coverage moves such as Stone Edge from Hitmonlee, and when faced with bulky Substitute boosters, simply hit them with Toxic and switch out to a teammate that walls them, which you should have considering the lack of power of most Substitute boosters. Golbat can take advantage of a fair few defensive Pokemon to Defog, including Amoonguss, Aromatisse, and even other Golbat, as well as Alomomola and Tangrowth, though you might want a cleric for the former and both can easily Knock Off Golbat's Eviolite.
Team Options
========
This Golbat appreciates special walls as partners, especially if they resist one of its weaknesses. Assault Vest or defensive Slowking can fill the role nicely, taking Ice- and Psychic-type attacks well, while Golbat takes on Grass-type Pokemon Slowking would rather avoid, though note the twain do share a weakness to Electric. Almost any Steel-type makes a good partner for Golbat in some fashion or another, as does any Knock Off absorber. Cobalion and Mega Steelix are both, and they are also bulky Stealth Rock setters that can come in multiple times to reset Stealth Rock while taking Rock-type attacks and warding off Steel-types. Cobalion can also take Ice-type attacks, and Mega Steelix can take general physical attacks as well as Psychic- and Electric-type attacks while thwarting Substitute boosters with Roar so Golbat can preserve its health and Toxic them only in lastmon situations or forgoing Stealth Rock entirely for a Curse set that defeats bulky boosters Golbat cannot. Some other Knock Off absorbers are Alomomola, Aromatisse, and (Mega) Audino. Alomomola can take on various special Pokemon or physical Knock Off users such as Hitmonlee and take on Clawitzer while healing Golbat with Wish, while Aromatisse can take on many Fighting-types and special attacks while healing Golbat with Aromatherapy or Wish. (Mega) Audino can do much of the same or act as a bulky win condition that works well with Super Fang Golbat; Mega Audino minds Knock Off not at all, and Audino can pass Wish and not mind thanks to Regenerator. Finally, Rhyperior can take on Rock- and Electric-types such as Tyrantrum as well as Doublade while sponging Knock Off, essentially acting as a discount Mega Steelix in this role, though it is a very viable Pokemon.

Defog is a stellar way of getting rid of entry hazards and Roost keeps Golbat alive so it can keep Defogging. Brave Bird smacks around Grass- and Fighting-types and ensures Golbat is not made useless by Taunt, while Toxic lets Golbat cripple a multitude of Pokemon, notably dangerous threats like SubCM Cresselia, hitting it even behind a Substitute thanks to Infiltrator, and dangerous special attackers such as Clawitzer and Houndoom. Super Fang and Taunt let Golbat heavily wear down Steel-types that normally wall it and defeat and Defog on many defensive Pokemon and hazards setters that usually defeat it, respectively.
Set Details
========
248 HP EVs maximize overall bulk while hitting a Stealth Rock number, while 180 SpD EVs and a Careful nature enhance Golbat's special bulk quite emphatically; 80 Speed EVs let Golbat get the drop on Modest Exploud. Eviolite boosts Golbat's bulk by a ridiculous 50%, and Infiltrator allows it to Toxic or attack foes behind a Substitute, to your gain and your opponent's detriment. If Slurpuff is a threat to your team, 40 Defense EVs can be placed on Golbat, allowing it to take a +6 Return from Slurpuff and strike back, though any chip damage or Stealth Rock will make this a no-go and Slurpuff can tank a Brave Bird fairly easily.
Usage Tips
========
Golbat should switch in on Hitmonlee, as well as on Clawitzer and weaker special attackers that cannot hit it super effectively. Try to come in on defensive Pokemon such as Aromatisse and Amoonguss, though for sleep-inducers you may want another Pokemon to take the sleep first. Switch in on Substitute boosters such as SubCM Cresselia and SubCM Meloetta, hit them with a Toxic, then either switch out to a teammate that walls them or stay in and Roost stall if Golbat does.
Team Options
========
Physical walls like Alomomola and Aromatisse complement Golbat nicely, taking the hits it cannot and providing it with Wish support; Alomomola can more easily pass Wishes due to Regenerator, while Aromatisse can take over Fighting-type wall duty and keep Golbat status-free with Aromatherapy. Mega Steelix and Cobalion can consistently and continually set up Stealth Rock while taking Knock Off, as well as many other attacks Golbat is weak to, and checking Exploud and Steel-types. Cobalion can Taunt opposing entry hazard users, while Mega Steelix can Roar or Curse to take care of Substitute boosters to preserve Golbat's life, and Golbat in return takes on Fighting-types. Audino can form a specially defensive core with Golbat, passing Wishes to it and curing its status while sponging Volt Switch and using Knock Off on pesky Steel-types; Golbat returns these favors by stopping Fighting-types in their tracks. Reuniclus is an interesting partner, able to take on opposing Psychic-types, absorb status, and check Fighting-types, while appreciating a solid Hitmonlee check on its team.
Other Options
########
Golbat can use Haze or Whirlwind to confound setup Pokemon or Curse to become one itself. U-turn is an interesting option, but the thought of potentially taking Stealth Rock damage multiple times just to keep momentum is a bracing one. Golbat can break stall with a moveset of Taunt / Super Fang / Roost / Brave Bird, with the option to use Toxic over either attacking move, but this set ultimately either fails to stallbreak consistently or lacks a STAB move and thus is ineffective in most other situations. Hypnosis is an interesting option to inflict the prized sleep status, but its inaccuracy makes it an unappealing choice, though Doublade's No Guard means you will always hit it and Defog's evasion drops can ease accuracy concerns.
Checks & Counters
########
**Entry Hazard Setters**: Any entry hazard setter that Golbat cannot defeat annoys it; many Steel- and Rock-types, as well as Mega Glalie, fall under this aegis. Registeel, Cobalion, Bronzong, Probopass, and Mega Steelix, as well as Rhyperior and Regirock, can more or less switch in on Golbat and reset their entry hazards, though the Rock-types won't appreciate Toxic and none of them will appreciate Super Fang or to a lesser extent Taunt. Pokemon such as Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Kricketune can set up dangerous entry hazards while discouraging Golbat from coming in or stopping it from Defogging with Thunder Wave + Taunt, Final Gambit, and Knock Off + Taunt + Endeavor, respectively. However, Golbat has ways to come out on top as well, since it can Taunt Qwilfish first, Roost off much of the Final Gambit damage, and Brave Bird Kricketune to death while forcing it to choose between keeping up Sticky Web or actually damaging Golbat.
**Braviary**: Braviary can switch in on Defog and gain a +2 boost to Attack thanks to Defiant, letting it plow through Golbat and quite possibly your entire team, although Physically Defensive Golbat can simply Toxic it as it comes in, Roost away as it attacks with futility, and possibly even Defog as it switches out, a risky maneuver that can nonetheless transfer the advantage to your side, both game-wise and mentally.
**Type Advantage**: As in most aspects of Pokemon, if the opponent has a super effective move their likelihood of coming out on top against Golbat is quite high. Pokemon like Jolteon, Tyrantrum, and Doublade can switch in on Brave Bird or even Toxic or Super Fang if necessary and proceed to force Golbat out via the threat of setup or an OHKO. Doublade in particular doesn't care about Toxic, Super Fang, or Brave Bird, but if Golbat is carrying Taunt Doublade may not have the strength to break through it. Mega Glalie, Mesprit, and Rotom-C are some examples of Pokemon that don't necessarily want to switch in, but can if they must, and can deal hefty amounts of damage to Golbat even if it's invested in the defensive stat they're striking.
**Sheer Strength**: Despite Golbat's good bulk, powerful offensive threats can still muscle through it, with or without super effective coverage. Some examples include Clawitzer, Exploud, and Life Orb Druddigon; in some cases, these attackers may falter if Golbat is invested in the defensive stat relevant to them, but extremely strong attackers like the aforementioned Exploud may simply punch through Golbat despite its buffed-up defense stat.
**Knock Off and Status**: As a defensive Eviolite user whose STAB attack is physical, Golbat has serious problems with both Knock Off and burn. The former irrevocably slashes its bulk by 50% should it connect, while the latter wears away at it swiftly while reducing its offensive presence quite seriously; note that a teammate with Aromatherapy or Heal Bell can cure Golbat's burn, but burn is a serious, if short-lived, problem even with one of these teammates present. Knock Off users include Eelektross, Drapion, and Escavalier; note that some Knock Off users are actually countered by Golbat, such as Tangrowth and Hitmonlee, but can of course reduce his bulk seriously nevertheless. Pokemon such as Alomomola, Clawitzer, and Mega Banette can inflict burn upon Golbat.

how do i lead of help
-Defog, Roost, and Eviolite (good) bulk
-infiltrator toxic for SubCm cressy, assorted stall molesting sub boosters
-walls the hell out of fightings and grasses, especially hitmonlee!!!
-some other nice utility like Taunt Super Fang Whirlwind Haze (whatever i'll alter this list depending on how the slashes go).a quick BB or Toxic is not a scoffable thing either.
-Sr Weak
-weak to psychic, ice, electric, rock
-half the stuff it can wall consistently will or may knock it off as a parting gift
-doesn't 1v1 many hazards users (unless taunt or in some cases Super Fang.)
-kinda lolbait for some stuff, especially steels if not fang and doublade without Taunt.

Moves
========
-Defog gets rid of hazards, I won't say theres no reason to use Golbat without it but there really almost isn't
-Roost heals you. there really is 0 reason to run Golbat sans roost.
-Brave Bird is your typical 'don't let taunt make you a struggler' shtick. Also smashes Grass- and Fighting-types and even Bugs (hey there accelketune)
-Toxic is infiltrator Toxic for SubCM Cressy and Melo (you might be able to do it to SubCm Delphox as well but lol I don't recommend it), SubBU Brav and SubSD bouff, srsly any sub setup sweeper not immune to toxic is gon be PISSED.
-You're usually 100% steelbait, super fang fixes that in an explosive, 50% damage kind of way.
-You're usually hazards user bait, taunt fixes that in an offensive, no setup kind of way.
Set Details
========
-248 HP is probably for a hazards number? Fuck idk. Oh yeah it's for general bulk too obv
-def evs and Impish nature pump up phys. D stat so you can D all night long against those buff fighting types even if they keep their Knock hand strong.
-Speed outspeeds max speed pangoro and also Modest Exploud by 2 points
-Eviolite because no shit. Seriously though, eviolite gives 50% defensive boosts, blah blah blah
-Alternately you can run a spread of just full physical defense to wall pang and otehr shit without trying to outspeed it. Lets you take band Knock for less than 50% (though if rocks are up, that'll just outspeed and smack you again so...) Maybe just Adamant Mangoro?
Usage Tips
========
-defog whenever you can
-Switch into things you can wall obv like grasses and amoonguss. Try to switch in on grass moves rather than coverage moves so you can Defog more easily
-some defensive mons can only toxic use this to your advantage
-you can actually defog on other golbats lol, just be careful not to switch into a defog since that means you wasted your time
-Sometimes the team might just set up rocks again, so switch into stuff you wall and Roost instead to avoid it breaking past you later on
-Toxic stuff to death and roost it away personally, brave birding a hitmonlee after taking a knock off means you're down 50% of your health which is kind of unfortunate. That said if you feel you don't need golbat and you want hitmonlee dead be my guest bro
-if they have hitmonlee pangoro etc ask yourself if you're okay with the eviolite going because it will at some point. Do try to switch in on fighting moves though so you can keep it for as long as possible. Watch out for Ice Punch or the rarer Stone Edge from hitmonlee
-against bulky boosters you're supposed to tox, switch in, toxic, then switch out to some wall who can stall as long as it needs to.
Team Options
========
-First off, special walls. Preferably Ice/Electric/Psych/Rock resists and preferably just bulky in general, so they can take physical attacks of that nature if necessary
-Slowking is a good candidate, i guess? Regenerator means it can live with rocks being up, it can take on strong shit like Tres. Avest or Defensive
-Pretty much every steel.
-Knock Off absorbers! Especially relevant are Cobalion and MegaLix which are of course steels and I will do some clever wordage in the writing stage so that is coherent. Pangoro can work too, alomomola kind of hates it but can live with it, as can Aromatisse. Maudino is probably best knock absorber 2015 lyfe.
-Mlix can also take Elec and Rock and take on Doublade and steels and Mglalie and Psych and can take on SubCm shit so Golbat doesn't have to waste its life toxxing. It can roar bulky sub boosters until they try to lastmon and then golbat is like u wot m8. AND it can rocks or Curse to take on other defensive boosters i.e. Sball Reuniclus (though it has to be at full to beat that) and Curse Regi. A+ partner imo.
-Alomo and Aroma are pretty cool ones. Alomo can take Ice stuff, and Clawitzer, pretty well, if SpD it takes various special shit, if phys D it can check various stuff that would knock Bat's eviolite. It can wish as a grass-type comes in, pass it to golbat, give it a free turn to fog or smack the switch-in. Can take on rock-types espc. rhyperior and gligar to an extent;burn steels so they can't just switch in on golbat for free forever and ever, burn+fang is a fucking sick steel kill combo. Aroma can take various special attacks and wishpass but especially AROMATHERAPY which lets you defog on T-wave and Scald users without being crippled for the rest of the game, and check fighters without crying about knock like a little Eviolite NFE bitch (i.e. golbat). Lets you fang away at Twave regi.
-Maudino is Miss Knock Off Absorber 2015. And dazzling gleam helps for checking Mangoro. It can absorb status and stallbreak to an extent. Maybe use with Super Fang bat so it wears down steels for an eventual sweep, otherwise note they're both steelbait and partner with something that can take them on.
-Speaking of that, maybe Rhyperior? Takes rocks like Tyrantrum, uses SR, phases and takes on Dou, takes knock ok, takes elecs. Discount Mlix imo but also a really good Pokemon (take tres a treat).
-Audino specially walls, wishes, aroma, knocks off steels which Golbat says thank jesus. Knock Fang means steels cry

-Toxic because Infiltrator on Sub boosters, such as cressy melo and brav if it still exists. But, you're worse against most of them. It helps against a lot of stuff like Claw Tres even Exploud which you can check to various extents (exploud you have to sac something if you don't just want to suicide Tox, but i guess you can take a boomburst after rocks)
-Super Fang still trashes steels that are switching in like you're a fruit and they are fruit flies
-Taunt:you're still kinda worse against hazards setters but a lot of the ones you'd taunt are like, not that relevant physical attacking wise, so w/e

-speed is still for pangoro;realistically it's more like for Exploud and then "well pangoro exists so why not 4 more evs". also you can still check it so there's that
-Eviolite i have seen the light. May very well be the best item in the game. (I think in the write up, the first time i'll just factually state its qualities, the second time i'll praise it a lot, to prevent the two from being very similar sentences because they are. Or i could just list different stuff it lets you wall?)
-40 Def Evs lets you always take 1 +6 slurpuff's Return, watch out for sr doe.
Usage Tips
========
-especially switch in on grasses
-come in on fighters less, still hitmonlee though and tbh you can do pangoro sometimes. Just know you lose the evio AND you can't just roost a lot on band Knock with the BB threat because band knock eats into you a lot.
-defensive mons that can only really toxic are your bitch
-you can actually defog on other golbats. but if they fog as you come in, lol why'd you bother so make sure that won't happen.
-still tox against bulky boosters, especially like SubCm melo that doesn't have psyshock (feel like that doesn't carry it too often/ could be wrong ofc). but watch out because they will know it's coming and blaze the hell out of you (or switch out and hit you hard on the switch now or later.)
Team Options
========
-Physical walls. Alomo and Aroma still do all that other shit I mentioned
-Megalix does Megalix things. Obv i will expand in the writeup. Roaring out bulky boosters is now especially helpful given that Golbat will only get 1 shot, 1 opportunity, etc, dont like to switch in and gets rektface by their boosted attacks.
-Audino can take special hits golbat can't, also pass wishes and aroma easily, and often knock off steels which is a boon and a half. Knock+Fang is a less sick but still sick combo.
-Reuniclus can take burn and some bulky boosters that golbat can't (i.e. status DGAF ones) while it appreciates golbat taking subcm cressy and other shit which comes down to hax and can stall. Can break stall and take psychics and secondary check to fighters. Physical hits Por Lo General.
Other Options
########
-Haze, Whirlwind for setup
-I hear Curse is a funny wincon
-I don't feel there's anything else this mon can or should do, at all.
-Fine, u-turn lets you switch out and get momentum on bitches, especially psychics taht come in since they also get hit. That said, you will rack up hazard damage on yourself a lot so, Dx

Steel-types: Most Steel-types pose large problems for Golbat, being immune to Toxic, usually resistant to Brave Bird, and able to set up on it in some fashion, although they loathe Super Fang. Doublade in particular is immune to Super Fang and can set up on Golbat with Swords Dance, but if Golbat has Taunt, it will be unable to do so and will give up momentum with its fairly weak unboosted attacks. Registeel, Cobalion, Bronzong, Probopass, and Mega Steelix can all simply set up Stealth Rock again after Golbat Defogs it away, ensuring it stays on your side of the field, and Golbat can do little to truly damage them, though Super Fang turns the tables in juicy fashion. Registeel can paralyze Golbat and wait to get lucky with Seismic Toss, or use Iron Head to either flinch or paralyse Golbat to death, while Mega Steelix can Heavy Slam Golbat until it needs to Roost and then catch it with an Earthquake; Cobalion can just Taunt Golbat and Volt Switch away or even set up Swords Dance or Calm Mind or Substitute while forgoing Stealth Rock entirely, but it is neutral to Brave Bird. Ferroseed is rare, but it can set up Stealth Rock and Spikes while using Leech Seed on Golbat, and Iron Barbs make Brave Bird a bad option despite its neutrality, though Super Fang is still a fairly large problem for Ferroseed since it has no Leftovers recovery. Durant and Pawniard, though rare, can set up on Golbat or just batter away at it, and Pawniard can even score a boost from Defog with Defiant or Knock Off Golbat's Eviolite.
Rock-types: Many Rock-types can set up on Golbat, and even more can just KO it. Although Rhyperior appreciates neither Toxic nor Super Fang, it can trash Golbat with super effective Stone Edge, or Earthquake if Golbat tries to Roost, while setting up Stealth Rock on Golbat. Tyrantrum can set up Rock Polish or just send Golbat back to the caves it came from with a super effective Stone Edge. Archeops can easily set up Stealth Rock on Golbat, Taunt it, and Head Smash it into oblivion as well, though its suicidal nature means it won't often be around for more than the first few turns. Regirock, although rare, can also set up Stealth Rock on Golbat, Thunder Wave it, and STAB Stone Edge or Earthquake it to hit it super effectively depending on Roost usage. Aurorus can set up Stealth Rock or Rock Polish on Golbat or take it down with Refrigerate Hyper Voice.
Electric-types: Electric-types resist Brave Bird and can hit Golbat hard with Electric-type attacks, or hit it quite hard while threatening to gain momentum via Volt Switch. Magneton in particular is immune to Toxic, doubly resists Brave Bird, and is quite bulky, though he won't appreciate Super Fang. Rotom-C, Jolteon, and Heliolisk can all nuke Golbat or just gain momentum on it via Volt Switch, though Specially Defensive Golbat might surprise them by tanking the Volt Switch and Roosting off most of the damage, and it can Toxic all of these Pokemon or chip off at least 42% of Rotom-C's health with Brave Bird. Eelektross's lack of Speed enables Roost shenanigans and it dislikes Toxic and Super Fang, but it has Knock Off to take away Golbat's Eviolite and it can set up with Coil or force out Golbat with Acid Spray. Lanturn may not pose a problem often due to its lack of usage, but it can take Brave Bird easily and Heal Bell away Toxic while nailing Golbat with Thunder Wave or Scald, while retaining the ability to Volt Switch away at any time; however, its lack of recovery leaves it fairly vulnerable to Super Fang.
Ice-types: Ice-types may not take any of Golbat's attacks easily, but he certainly won't take any of theirs easily either. Mega Glalie can dish out the damage to Golbat with Refrigerate Return or Double-Edge and even set up Spikes as it flees in terror, though it will get worn down by Brave Bird, especially in conjunction with Toxic or Super Fang. Piloswine can set up Stealth Rock and hit Golbat super effectively with its STAB moves whether or not it's Roosted, while eventually picking it off with Ice Shard, though Brave Bird takes off a quarter of its health and Toxic or Super Fang will ruin its day. Finally, as mentioned above, Aurorus takes advantage of Golbat in numerous ways or just OHKOes it.
Psychic-types: Psychic-types can make Golbat rue the day it was born, and although they have trouble with its attacks, their ability to capably run Psychic or Psyshock means Golbat can't comfortably assume it will take the attack on its stronger defense stat. Mesprit can set up Stealth Rock while scaring Golbat out, and although it won't like Super Fang, Toxic, or Brave Bird, it can use Healing Wish when it gets too worn down to function. Meloetta and Delphox can nail Golbat in said fashion, though they won't like switching in one bit. Defensive Psychic-types like Cresselia and Slowking can threaten to status Golbat and hit it fairly hard, but they won't like Toxic. Reuniclus gives not a single damn about Toxic, tanks Brave Bird easily, and can heal off a Super Fang if it's carrying Recover, while setting up either Trick Room or endless Calm Minds; although Golbat can Taunt it, this is quite the risky proposition, especially given its proficiency with both Psychic and Psyshock.
Strong Special Attackers: Strong special attackers such as Clawitzer, Houndoom, and Exploud can batter away at Physically Defensive Golbat and take it down fairly easily, especially if they carry a super effective move like Clawitzer's Ice Beam, but Specially Defensive Golbat might simply Toxic them and continue about its business; it does have to watch out for status from the likes of Scald or Hurricane, however.
Strong Physical Attackers: Strong physical attackers such as Druddigon Emboar, and (placeholder=Cinccino) can punch right through Specially Defensive Golbat, doubly so with a super effective move such as Cinccino's Rock Blast. With that said, Physically Defensive Golbat may just look at them quizzically and Toxic them while caring not a whit, though some physical attackers are strong enough to trouble Physically Defensive Golbat as well, even without a super effective attack.
Defiant: Defiant Pokemon such as Braviary and the aforementioned Pawniard can switch in on Defog and gain a +2 boost to Attack, letting them plow through Golbat and quite possibly your entire team! Pawniard is especially threatening, as it resists Brave Bird, is immune to Toxic, and doesn't hate Super Fang, while potentially setting up Swords Dance or just Knocking Off Golbat's Eviolite. On the other hand, Braviary is far more common, and Physically Defensive Golbat can simply Toxic it as it comes in, Roost away as it attacks with futility, and possibly even Defog as it switches out, a risky maneuver that can nonetheless transfer the advantage to your side, both game-wise and mentally.
Hazards Setters: Any hazards setter that Golbat cannot defeat annoys it; as mentioned earlier, many Steel- and Rock-types, as well as Mega Glalie, fall under this aegis. Pokemon such as Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Kricketune can set up dangerous entry hazards while discouraging Golbat from coming in or stopping it from Defogging with Thunder Wave + Taunt, Final Gambit, and Knock Off + Taunt + Endeavor, respectively, though it has ways to come out on top as well, since it can Taunt Qwilfish first, Roost off much of the Final Gambit damage, and Brave Bird Kricketune to death while forcing it to choose between keeping up Sticky Web or actually damaging you.

how do i lead of help
Physically Defensive
########
name: Physically Defensive
move 1: Defog
move 2: Roost
move 3: Brave Bird
move 4: Toxic / Super Fang / Taunt
ability: Infiltrator
item: Eviolite
evs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 84 Spe
nature: Impish
Moves
========
Set Details
========
Usage Tips
========
========

Moves
========
-Defog still fogs on stuff, even though this set's even worse against a lot of hazards setters.
-Roost heals and justifies this set's existence.
-Brave Bird rekts grasses especially. Still fighters of course
