"Due to this," is still such a gross way to start a sentence... Please don't do that... At least use "This allows Heracross..." or "This gives Heracross..." or "This makes Heracross..."

active/dynamic writing = good writing.
passive voice = ewww...

Despite all of Heracross's its power, it Heracross cannot beat everything in theits tier,; for example, Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it take any hit Heracross can throw at it and nullify the damage with Roost Roost any damage it has taken. OK so unlike normal paragraphs there's so many things wrong so I might as well just go sentence by sentence (abandon the typical 'gp' structure) and point out everything there and then. It looks like I completely rewrote the thing altogether, but if you read it, you'll realize I kept most of the wording intact.

These Go These Stay Comments

Despite all of Heracross's power it cannot beat everything in the tier, Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it and nullify the damage with Roost.

Heracross has all the power in the world, but it cannot beat everything in the tier. Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it and Roost off the damage.

(Comma splice needs to be fixed, made the first sentence and the last bit more direct.)

Heracross can’t hurt Bulky Ghosts with his STAB moves, Zapdos like the aforementioned Ghost types can take both of Heracross's STAB moves but has to beware of Stone Edge, and fast scarfers like Victini and Darmatian can OHKO Heracross with th.

Heracross can't hurt bulky Ghost-types with his STAB, either. Zapdos, like Dusclops and company, resists Megahorn and Close Combat, but has to beware of Stone Edge. Alternatively, fast Choice Scarf users such as Victini and Darmanitan can OHKO Heracross with their STAB.

I don’t even know where to start. You have: 1. the curly ' 2. capitalization of Bulky 3. The first comma is a comma splice 4. You didn’t put commas around 'like the aforementioned Ghost-types' 5. You didn't mention any Ghost-types so you can’t actually say 'aforementioned.' I just put in an example for you! 6. You talked about 3 totally different things in a single sentence so I started a new sentence dealing with Choice Scarf users. 7. You can't say scarfers, only Choice Scarf users. 8. Your sentence was cut so I filled in the rest. All credits go to my imagination.

Heracross also has access to Swords Dance which can be used with a Status Orb to beat most of its usual counters but can rapidly rack up damage and does no favours to Heracross’s middling speed.

Heracross also has access to Swords Dance, which can be used with a status Orb to beat most of its usual counters. However, the passive damage can quickly rack up, and Swords Dance does no favors to Heracross's middling Speed.

Not bad. I fixed the capitalization on status, curly apostrophes, and some awkward prose. Also, English spelling!

Heracross can also run a ResTalk set activating Guts and healing itself in the process this set can also absorb sleep from common sleep inducers like Roserade activating the Sleep Clause therefore preventing your opponent from putting any other pokemon on your team to sleep but this set is quite unreliable so it needs more team support then its normal sets.

Heracross can also run a RestTalk set, activating Guts and healing itself in the process. This allows Heracross to switch into common sleep inducers such as Roserade, activating Sleep Clause and protecting your team from sleep. However, this set is quite unreliable, so it requires more team support.

What are commas or periods I don't know

Even with these flaws Heracross shouldn’t shouldn't be taken lightly since it can easily sweep a weakened team on its own.

As far as Heracross’s abilities go Heracross should always use Guts since the ability to gain from a burn rather than be crippled by it is too good for Heracross to pass up.

Guts is the superior ability for Heracross since the ability to benefit from a burn, rather than be crippled by it, is too great to pass up.

Heracross’s DW ability Moxie is currently unrealesd but when it is it will be a much better option for the Choice Scarf set but would benefit more from Guts on all the other sets.

Heracross's Dream World ability, Moxie, is currently unreleased. It will be a superior option for the Choice Scarf set for easier late-game clean-up, but other sets would benefit from Guts more.

Although Heracross also has access to Swords Dance, which can be used with a status Orb to beat most of its usual counters, but can rapidly rack up damage and does no favours to Heracross’s middling speed. the addition of such an Orb causes a great deal of damage to Heracross, and its mediocre Speed does not give it the advantage that it needs in order to use the Orb. sandz asked me to post the next paragraph:

Giratina-o is one of the most prominent Pokémon in Ubers. He has access to a wide arsenal of moves, like Draco Meteor, Dragon Tail, Earthquake, Shadow Sneak and more, while these are backed up with 120 offenses. It is definitely one of the most ntable forces in Ubers, and is capable of checking common threats such as Mewtwo, Groudon, and Arceus. With it's ability it can freely switch in and out because it does not take (Toxic) Spikes damage. It’s probably most known for being one of the best spin blockers in the game and it’s Mixed Attacker set, that allows it to put a lot of pressure on Stall teams by constantly shuffling and hard hitting. However it does not stop their: Giratina-o can effictively run a SubCM set to turn common Pokemon like Forretress to a set up bait. But since Giratina-O does not have a recovery move, it can trade Substitute and a coverage move for Rest and Sleep Talk, and by that healing himself instantly. Giratina-O does have his flaws, however. No way of healing itself besides ResTalk is really suckish. This makes him also weak to status, especially poison, coming from unpredictable Pokemon such as Forretress. It also isn't fast, base 90 Speed only allows it to tie with common threats, such as Kyogre and Dialga, if running max Speed. Weakness to common Dragon and Ice moves isnt doing any favors neither. Regardless, Giratina-o is not to be overlooked when making your team.

The author donated this one and inserted some mistakes on purpose, good luck!

  1. Sometimes writers can get careless and skip what they were writing halfway. I expected that either you left a note to complete the sentence or try to interpret and finish the sentence :)
  2. A comma should be used before the word 'activating' at the bare minimum
  3. Such as should be used over like when stating examples
There wasn't much explanation required here as it was mainly prose changes to make the paragraph flow better. Other than that, it was mainly obvious changes like PokeGrammar etc.

There were some PokeGrammar errors here that were the same as those in the previous paragraph. So no one should be making the same mistakes if they did the previous time. Still, if you've made the same mistakes, I hope you can learn from it now and avoid them when checking analyses. Thanks :)

Thanks for participating once again! Hope to see more participation for Paragraph 3 ^_^

e: will be giving a couple of comments if I have the time~~ :)

Giratina-O is definitely one of the most notable forces in the Uber tier, and is capable of checking common threats such as Mewtwo, Groudon, and Arceus. With its ability Levitate, it can freely switch in and out because it does not take damage from Spikes or Toxic Spikes. Giratina-O is probably most known for being one of the best spinblockers in the game, in addition to having a powerful mixed attacker set that enables it to put heavy pressure on stall teams by constant shuffling and hard hitting. However, it does not stop there; Giratina-O can effectively run a Substitute Calm Mind set to turn common Pokemon, such as Forretress, into setup bait. Also, because Giratina-O does not have a recovery move, it can trade Substitute and a coverage move for Rest and Sleep Talk, enabling it to heal itself instantly. Giratina-O does have its flaws, however. Having no way of healing itself besides Rest is not ideal. This makes Giratina-O particularly weak to status, especially poison, which can come from unpredictable Pokemon such as Forretress. Giratina-O isn't fast. Base 90 Speed only enables it to tie with common threats, such as Kyogre and Dialga, if it is running max Speed. A weakness to common Dragon and Ice moves isn't doing Giratina-O any favors, either. Regardless, Giratina-O should not be overlooked when making a team.

1. Pronoun usage should be consistent throughout. Also, I hope you caught the various "Giratina-o" and that use of Pokemon with the accented e.
2. There's no reason to mention "and more" when listing specific examples.
3. Be concise. Also, "ntable" >.>
4. If a sentence is poorly worded, feel free to just rewrite it. I did that a few times in this check, though normally this many aren't necessary. Patch up awkward wording, but try to stay as true to the original writer's intent and tone as possible.

If there's anything you don't understand in that check, feel free to ask. Also, if you think I missed something, you can bring that up as well. Remember, everything gets GPed twice for a reason ^.^

Sandz didn't tell me what the next paragraph will be, so you'll have to wait for him to post it up :P

Despite all of Heracross's power, it cannot beat everything in the tier,. Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it and nullifyRoost the damage Hi I told you before :P with Ro has lost. Heracross can't hurt Bbulky Ghost-types with hiits STAB moves, colon can work here :) Close Combat and Megahorn. Zapdos, like the aforementioned Ghost-types, can take both of Heracross's STAB moves but has to beware of Stone Edge, and fast scarfers like. Fast Choice Scarf users, such as Victini and Darmatian, can OHKO Heracross with th.outspeed Heracross you can remove Heracross here and say 'and OHKO Heracross' and OHKO it with their STAB moves. (uncompleted sentence, make sure you finish all of them) good to leave a note! Heracross also has access to Swords Dance which can be used with a Sstatus Orb to beat most of its usual counters, but can rapidly rack up damage and does no favours to Heracross's middling sediocre (middling is just iffy...) Speed. Heracross can also run a RestTalk set, activating Gutshieving its Guts ability boost you don't achieve an ability boost :/ you can achieve the boost granted by the ability though and healing itself in the process this set can also absorb sleep from. This set can also be put asleep by you put the Pokemon to sleep, not the set :/ common sleep inducers likesuch as Roserade, activating the Sleep Clause thereforein order to preventing your opponent from putting any other pPokemon on your team to sleep but this set. This set, however, is quite unreliable, so it needs more team support thean its normalother sets. Even with these flaws Heracross shouldn't be taken lightly since it can easily sweep a weakened team on its own. As far as Heracross's abilities go, Heracross should always use Guts since the ability to gain a boost (again, uncompleted sentence) from a burn rather than be crippled by it, is too gooduseful for Heracross to pass up on. pass up on?? ?_? Heracross’s DW ability Moxie's Moxie ability, which is gained from the Dream World, you can just put commas around Moxie :/ this change is pretty redundant and just makes it even longer is currently unrealesd but when it is it will be a much better option for the Choice Scarf set but would benefit more from Guts on allased. When it is released, however, it will become the superior option for the Choice Scarf set. (redundant, if you mention this set only it's obvious that the other sets want guts)

Despite all of Heracross's its power, it Heracross cannot beat everything in theits tier,; for example, Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it take any hit Heracross can throw at it and nullify the damage with Roost Roost any damage it has taken. Additionally, Heracross can't(Make sure you use the right apostrophe.) hurt Bbulky Ghosts this was brought up in the previous paragraph! ):< with hiits STAB moves: Megahorn and Close Combat. Another threat, this seems like a bad way to link to the previous sentence :d this automatically implies Gligar as a threat though that isn't wrong Zapdos, like the aforementioned Ghost types can also take both of Heracross's STAB moves, but has to beware of Stone Edge although Zapdos must take precautions with Stone Edge., and fFast scarfers Choice Scarf users, like such as Victini and Darmantian, wrong spelling :/ can OHKO Heracross with their own respective STAB moves.(I saw an incomplete sentence; make sure you fix these.) good to point out! Although Heracross also has access to can use Swords Dance, which can be used 'can be paired' can be used here. The phrasing is somewhat awkward :x paired with a Sstatus Orb to can 'to' is fine here. 'can' implies Swords Dance and status Orb beating the counters beat most of its usual counters, but can rapidly rack up damage and does no favours to Heracross’s middling speed you need a conjunction such as 'but' here it still cannot beat several counters because of its mediocre speed, not to mention the residual damage that status Orbs inflicts on its user. Heracross can also run a RestTalk set, activating Guts and healing itself in the process which activates Guts and also heals itself from all damage it took; in addition, this set can also absorb sleep from Heracross can act as sleep fodder, which prevents common sleep inducers likesuch as Roserade activating the Sleep Clause therefore preventing your opponent from putting any other pokemon on your team to sleep from completing their job. this is pretty vague :/ Roserade's job is to set up entry hazards, not just put opponents to sleep. Although it flows better, try to avoid sacrificing the content in the process but However, without great this set is quite unreliable so it needs more team support, then its normal sets RestTalk cannot be fully utilized. Something along the lines of 'RestTalk Heracross cannot realize its full potential without plenty of team support' can work here :) Even with these flaws Even though Heracross has its flaws, it shouldn't be taken lightly since, the comma can go as it can easily sweep any 'any' is a redundant change :/ you're implying a sweep is guaranteed here weakened team on its own. As far as Heracross's abilities go, Heracross it should always use Guts since the ability to gain from a burn rather than be crippled by it is too good for Heracross to pass up it is the most beneficial ability that Heracross can exploit.(I did not like the choice of wording you gave.) exploit isn't really the best word to use for an ability :/ 'use' is simple enough without confusion. Although Heracross’s gains Moxie from the DWream World, ability Moxieit is currently unrealeased it might be better to split this into anothe sentence >.> and would become the most useful ability for Heracross's Choice Scarf set but when it is it will be a much better option for the Choice Scarf set but would benefit more from Guts on all the other sets. yea I've talked to you on IRC. Your prose can certainly improve but don't worry too much! It comes with more practice! You can try checking actual analyses :) When trying to rephrase sentences, ask yourself if the sentence sound right and does it mean what it was supposed to mean and retain its original meaning. Welcome to Smogon and good luck :) Don't let this discourage you though!

(Comma splice needs to be fixed, made the first sentence and the last bit more direct.) yes that was a comma splice ^_^

Heracross can't hurt bulky Ghost-types with his its <--- STAB, either. Zapdos, like Dusclops and company maybe try 'its fellow Ghost-types' , resists Megahorn and Close Combat, but has to beware of Stone Edge.

However, the passive residual damage can quickly rack up, and Swords Dance does no favors to Heracross's middling Speed. it was implying the status Orb, not Swords Dance >.>

It will be a superior option for the Choice Scarf set for easier late-game clean-up sweep is an understandable word to use >.>, but other sets would benefit from Guts more.

Good attempt! You're improving! :)

cp: Heracross has all the power in the world, but it cannot beat everything in the tier. Gligar can shrug off anything Heracross can throw at it and Roost off the damage. Heracross can't hurt bulky Ghost-types with his STAB, either. Zapdos, like Dusclops and company, resists Megahorn and Close Combat, but has to beware of Stone Edge. GP checked this when the writer PMed me the paragraph earlier, but I suppose it belongs here too!

Inspite ATTN: the phrase is 'in spite of' all of Heracross's power it cannot beat everything in the tier,: semicolon~! Heracross can also run a RestTalk set activating Guts and healing itself in the process t. This set can also absorb sleep from common sleep-inducers likesuch as Roserade; wrong use of semicolon! ):< remember: a semicolon is as powerful as a peroid! activating the Sleep Clause therefore preventing your opponent from putting any other pPokemon on your team to sleep but this set is quite unreliable so it. Good job! :) you use a lot of commas, though not always wrong but can be redundant~
did another one and I bet it sucks

Despite all of Heracross's power it cannot beat everything in the tier, Gligarits power, Heracross still cannot beat every Pokemon in UU. Gligar for example, can shrugs shrug is right although the subject is singular but there's 'can' before it! >.> off anything Heracross can throw at it and nullify the damage with Roost. Heracross can’t hurt Bulky Ghosts with his STAB moves,t all of 'shrug off all of' is sufficient~ Heracross attacks and with Roost, it nullifies any damage taken. Heracross can't do much to bulky Ghost-types such as Dusclops and Cofagrigus, remove comma as they are immune to Close Combat and resist Megahorn. Zapdos, like the aforementioned Ghost-types, can takeeasily tank both of Heracross's STAB moves but ha, semicolon / period~ however, Zapdos needs to bewarey spacing! of Stone Edge, and fast s. Fast Choice Scarf users likesuch as Victini and Darmatian cannitan outspeed and! OHKO Heracross with their Fire-type STAB moves. Heracross also has access to Swords Dance which can be used along with a Sstatus Orb to beatKO most of its usual counters but can; however, this rapidly racks up residual damage and does no favours to Heracross’s middling speedn't do Heracross's Speed any favor. Heracross can also run a RestTalk set, which can be used to activatinge Guts and healing itself Heracross in the process; this set can alsois also useful as it can absorb sleep from common sleep inducers like Roserade activating the Sleep Clause therefore preventing your opponent from putting any other pokemon on your team to sleep butsuch as Roserade, semicolon / period~ I'll explain here. however can be used in the middle of the sentence; however, it cannot be used to connect two sentences without using a period or semicolon. Get the example? ^_^ however, this set is quite unreliable so itand needs more team support then itan Heracross's normal sets. Even with these flaws Heracross shouldn't be taken lightly sinceas it can easily sweep a weakened team on its own. Heracross's DWream World ability, Moxie, is currently unrealesdased, but when it is it wiavailable, it'll be a much better option for the Choice Scarf set but would. Heracross benefits more from Guts on all the other sets.
I know you can do better and you simply made a couple of careless mistakes. This can be avoided if you don't rush your check and maybe proofread your check :) It happens to everyone at some point in time though!
If you've made the same error as you did the previous round, you better learn from it and not make the same mistake again! ^_^ This was a pretty good round and I'll say most of you if not everyone made an improvement! It's a job well done! :D Perfexionist and Amarillo are tied for the best check here. Perfexionist can be more daring and change the prose more though! :)

edit: I hope to have your patience for the next one to come! Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience! >.>

Thanks so much for your comments sand. I always enjoy reading them, and they are helpful.

While I try to preserve the writer's work as much as possible, I will look into being more bold with prose edits.

Sorry for the wait everyone!! Only 3 checks for paragraph 3 u_u /me sad. Anyway, let's try something a little different this time :D All participants, you will not be doing one check by yourself as you've previously done so! This time, every participant / amateur GP checker will work together to produce a single check for this paragraph. How are you going to do that? Anyone can start off with a rough check of the paragraph, but please don't overkill and make lots of changes till there isn't much to change anymore. After a rough check is made, discuss in this thread or come on #grammar and give suggestions to improve the check and point out errors. Try to support your suggestion if possible. If everyone / most people is agreeable to a change, someone can take the initiative to work on top of the previous check to add in all the agreed changes. Keep improving the check until everyone thinks there's no more room for improvement! When you're all agreeable that this is the best check that can be produced, just post saying so!

A few things to note though. If discussion is made in #grammar please post a log or a summary of the proposed changes so that participants that are not on IRC at that time are not left out. This thread will be where the main discussion takes place. However, use whatever means you're comfortable with but don't get left out! The more people there are the more opinions there are to make the check better. The purpose of this is to let everyone learn from each other instead of just from their own mistakes. This way, hopefully you can learn what are the alternatives to making changes and broaden your perspectives when making your checks. Remember, there's infinite possibilities in GP checking! This should be a group effort and no one should have a monopoly and no one should shy away! Have fun discussing and I hope you all can gain something invaluable from this that you might not get the chance to normally.

Wynaut has a terrible movepool that's comparable to that of Unown, it has only seven moves to choose from and one of them being Magikarp's signature move: Splash. Wynaut can be said to be worser than Unown in the sense that it doesn't even have a single attacking move which means that it's a complete Taunt bait. Wynaut in practice is actually not too bad though. Wynaut has an excellent ability in Shadow Tag that allows it to trap opposing Pokemon and prevent them from switching. Wynaut has all the tools it needs to KO Choice item users. It has access to both Counter and Mirror Coat that allow Wynaut to pick the appropriate move to pick off Choice item users. Wynaut can also lock foes into the appropriate moves with Encore. Wynaut can also use Destiny Bond to bring down the opponent together with it in its suicide if Counter and Mirror Coat are not enough. Wynaut can opt to use Tickle and then bring in a Pursuiter to KO a fleeing opponent with its lowered Defence. Wynauts stats are almost as terrible as its movepool. It only has a reasonable base 95 HP paired with terrible base 48 defenses. Wynaut has Eviolite to bolster its defenses a little, however. Wynaut's Psychic-typing is also one of its downfall as it makes it a Pursuit bait. Wynaut's saving grace is pretty much only its access to both Counter and Mirror Coat and also one of the best ability in Shadow Tag. It does best at dispatching Choice-locked Pokemon and probably nothing more.

Don't forget that there's a couple of links related to grammar and prose in the OP! They're quite useful resources and I hope you can refer to them if you have the time! Good luck and have fun everyone! :D I hope to see plenty of participation this round ^_^

Wynaut give this a try?? :)

EDIT: I caught some mistakes I made in my coloring, didn't really change anything around. Besides, it doesn't seem like anybody's actually doing anything...;(

Generally I suck with prose, and am afraid to change most sentences around. However, I hopefully didn't make any actual grammar mistakes.
