challenger orders first round 1
Welcome to Pwnemon's Nature Emporium!

...What, are you surprised that I'm leading you indoors? You say a Nature Emporium should be out in nature? You know I'm always in pursuit of the best: Nature wasn't natural enough for me, so I made an arena that was supernatural! No, wait, that word's been taken... HYPERNATURAL! Pwnemon's Hypernatural Emporium. I like it.

Anyway, what do we do in here? We stimulate the senses of grass-type Pokemon by rapidly cycling between all the common natural types of weather—sun, rain, and sandstorms (no, you're not the first person to point out that sandstorms aren't common, shut up and battle me). Such stimulation drives these Pokemon into overdrive, unleashing their full natural talent. Unfortunately, it also causes them to produce bucketloads of sap—even the ones not based on trees shut up—which is a bug that will be fixed at a later date but until then grants them all the ability Sticky Hold! So yeah, aside from the endangered animal pet store in the back of questionable legality, that's basically all we do here. Now let's battle!

Summary: (if youre really too lazy to read my minimal flavor smh)
  • Cycles between Rain, Sand, and Sun every round
  • Grass-types all have Sticky Hold

Well hello people and welcome to yet another challenge against the Grass Gym! Let's take a look at our contestants!

The Leader lately seems to be adopting Doubles as the get-to style. Doubles + ordering first = good advantage at the begining, so maybe that is why. Or he is reliving the good times from the Team Tourney. Either way, Pwnemon is on a great phase in and outside the gym and will sure give hell to any opponents.

Pay special attention to---no I won't say Ambrose the Pyroak. Yeah I am aware it is a marvelou mon and all. But the challenger brought 2 pokemon that can deal with it properly and the other too aren't too weak against it, so I will bet on another pokemon (although the MVp will end up being pyroak as it always is -_-''). Anyway, pay special attention to Pete the Cradily. Cradily always performs well here and the fact that the challenger didn't bring the fan favourites Heracross and Scizor means that Cradily can defeat any of the challengers' mons 1 on 1 assuming decent orders (maybe not against Aurumoth I guess). Sure this is doubles and that line of thought doesn't apply, but it doesn't mean that Cradily will get any easier to deal with. Its lasting power and Rock STAB have a nice oomph on this match-up.

The challenger is yet another trainer on the neverending roster of people that managed to get the first badge in a great performance...but still didn't manage to repeat that performance and get the second badge (not counting Badges for owning a gym). To give you an idea, we have 18 people that managed to defeat a gym...or those 12 defeating only one gym (and are more than capable of defeating others). But I digress. Rediamond came to this Gym before and was defeated due to a very unfortunate set of RNG Rolls on the first round (read: hax) and probably challenged again looking at least for a more..dignified end? Hopefully a happy ending.

Pay special attention to Diego Armaldo. While some would put Heracross or Scizor on this position, Armaldo is, IMO, Rediamond's best bug pokemon and is the one he was more successful with on his Gym. By virtue of STAB alone it manages to hit 6/7 of the leader's people supereffectively, while being hit itself SE by 2, being arguably possible for Diego to win 1 on 1 regardless. Also it gains direct benefits from 2 of the 3 possible weathers and has the almighty Stealth Rock, just to add insult to injury haha.

Now let's take a look at the teams!

It's entirely possible I forgot about this.

Cyclohm: Blizzard~Fire Blast (Abomasnow)~Blizzard
IF Cradily uses Mirror Coat when you would use Blizzard, use Fire Blast (Abomasnow) and push actions back
IF Abomasnow uses a Protective/Evasive move when you use Fire Blast, use Magnet Rise and push back but only once

Armaldo: Stealth Rock~Rock Slide~Rock Blast (Abomasnow)
IF Stealth Rock is up on your side of the field when you would move, use Rapid Spin (Abomasnow) and push actions back
If Abomasnow uses a Protective/Evasive move when you use Rock Blast, use X-Scissor Cradily instead

Well, ordering first against a Pyroak in doubles. There's a limit to how well this can go.

Aurumoth: Blizzard~Megahorn (Ludicolo)~Blizzard
IF Pyroak uses Flare Blitz and is not behind a Substitute, use Skill Swap (Illusion <-> Rock Head), but only once and push actions back
IF Ludicolo uses Counter when you would use Megahorn, use Bug Buzz (Ludicolo) and push actions back

Armaldo: Cooldown~Endure~Rock Slide

Stratos

Banned deucer.
you had to give me a ridiculously difficult round at a ridiculously difficult time in my life...

i apologize for putting this off this long but smogon was really not my #1 priority recently

pyroak: wood hammer + wood hammer armaldo ~ cooldown ~ flare blitz + flare blitz aurumoth

ludicolo: hydro pump armaldo ~ hydro pump aurumoth ~ hydro pump + hyper beam aurumoth
