Aura Guardian spent the Day in a bit of a daze. He, along with others, cornered askaninjask, but Aura Guardian seemed to cast his vote half-heartedly. After some time, he decided to go against the counseling he had been given and try to attack Flamestrike.

The moment he raised a hand against someone other than askaninjask, however, his eyes bulged. What he thought had been simple advice had been a much stronger persuasion. During the Night he had been hypnotized, and he reached down and grabbed one of the dumbbells on the floor. Someone rushed to stop him, but he had already smashed the weight into his temple. He fell down instantly, dead. His file was found and read.

Dear Aura Guardian,

You have Narcolepsy.

Narcolepsy is an urge to sleep at random and inappropriate times. This can be accompanied by sudden muscular weakness, that can result in collapse. On an average day, you’re likely to casually doze off four times without anyone really noticing.

While falling asleep usually doesn’t attract too much attention, it can also cause a problem. At Night you may PM the hosts “Night X - Collapsing in front of everyone.” You’ll fall asleep standing up and crumple to the ground. Everyone else will stop what they were about to do and rush to your aid, preventing them from doing their night action. But no one's going to fall for that again, so you can only pull it off once.

“Give it up Flamestrike. We know you’re Staff.”

“You can’t prove anything. And askaninjask is a bigger threat to everyone anyway.”

The lines were quickly drawn during the Day as the votes split between Flamestrike and askaninjask. Those who voted to kill Flamestrike had strong convictions, but a few of the votes for askaninjask seemed to be cast reluctantly. But when Aura Guardian tried to defy the powerful suggestion he had been given it ended badly, to say the least.

For a moment everyone was shocked by Aura Guardian’s sudden suicide. But then they carried on. Paperblade had trouble deciding, his vote wavering between the two options. But finally he settled on Flamestrike and the decision was final.

“Fine, I admit it,” said Flamestrike. “I’m from the Staff. But let’s make a deal. I’ll show you where the Control Room is and you all stop this madness. I’ll stop the lockdown, we’ll all leave, everyone’s happy.”

Some of the members of the group eyed Flamestrike warily, unsure whether they should trust him or not. Flamestrike glanced at the group, trying to communicate without words to another Staff member. But no one could tell exactly who he had made eye contact with.

“Fine. Let’s see it.”

And with that, the group left the Gymnasium. They followed Flamestrike through the halls and up the stairs to the 2nd floor. They finally stopped outside a locked, unmarked door. Flamestrike pointed at it, and one of the members of the group tried to open the door, but couldn’t manage. They tried kicking down the door, but it made no difference.

“Where are the keys?”

“Sorry,” said Flamestrike, a look of contempt on his face, “but I’m not telling you that one.”

With that, Flamestrike drew a syringe out of his clothes and tried to attack the nearest Patient. He was close, but stopped just before injecting his target. askaninjask had stabbed him with a broken broom handle. Blood went everywhere and Flamestrike collapsed, gasping. It wasn’t long before he had stopped moving, completely dead. Someone looked inside Flamestrike’s clothes for more syringes, but found only his file.

Dear Flamestrike,

You are the Doctor.

Until this riot broke out, you were enjoying the many perks of your highly lucrative career as a surgeon. You got called in prior to the riot to help with an injured patient, and then all Hell broke loose. But, in the end, you’re glad you’re there, because your girlfriend of three years happens to be a nurse at this mental hospital.

As a Doctor, you’ve got to think quickly when something goes wrong. So, when the Patients choose to turn on someone, you can act fast and save them. During the Day, you may PM the hosts “Day X - Saving the lynch target.” After the Patients try to kill someone, you’ll do some quick work and save his life for that Day. But you can only do this once, because the Patients will make sure that all subsequent lynch targets are very, very dead.

When the riot broke out you managed to grab a stack of files of patients previously released. As a result, you know that none of the Patients have the following illnesses:

You are allied with the Staff members.

You win if all Patients are eliminated.

After seeing your significant other get killed in such a brutal fashion, you can barely contain your rage. You managed to get the syringes before the Patients did, so now you’ll be doing the killing.

At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Injecting <user> with a syringe.” Whatever is in the syringe is a lethal dose, and <user> will be dead when the Day starts.

In addition, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Unleashing my rage on <user>.” After killing the first target, you channel all your anger and will kill a second time that Night. But with so much rage behind your attack, it’s guaranteed that everyone will know it was you who dealt the killing blow. And you definitely won’t be able to pull this off more than once.

“Well, at least we know people are going to be staying dead.”

Despite that realization, and even the death of yet another Staff member, no one felt anything but grim determination. Their goal was in front of them, only a key away. There wasn’t much in the hallway, but no one wanted to stray from the door, so they all settled down as best they could, prepared for another potentially lethal Night.

It is now Night 7.

Night 7 will end August 31st, 10 p.m. Eastern or when all actions are in.

With the control room so close, yet still out of reach, everyone had a tense Night, cut short by three screams.

Everybody looked around, and they found the corpse of iiMKUltra, with a syringe stuck in him, which surprised no one. Someone found his file and read it.

Dear iiMKUltra,

You have Echopraxia.

Echopraxia is an uncontrollable impulse to repeat movements of others. When you see someone do something you can’t help but mirror the action. Once you managed to even copy three people simultaneously.

Whenever you’re hit with another person’s ability you’ll be able to copy it. At Night you may PM the hosts “Night X - Going after <user>.” You will use all abilities that were used on you the previous Night phase on your target.

You are allied with the 3rd Floor Patients.

You win if you eliminate all threats.

A second corpse was nearby. This one was makiri, who appeared to have been beaten to death. Someone else read this file.

You are the Psychiatrist.

This riot at the hospital had really screwed up your already over-full schedule. You were supposed to just be passing through, making your weekly rounds, but now you’re trapped inside the building with all of these crazy people. Other than this facility, you had four other hospitals that you needed to make rounds at this week.

Even though you’re not familiar with any of these Patients, you’re very good at manipulating their fragile psyches. At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Asking <user> how he feels.” Without a second thought, <user> will spill his guts, telling you the complete contents of his role PM.

Alternatively, at Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Advising <user1> to vote for <user2>.” You’ll plant the idea in <user1>’s head that he has to vote for <user2> in the lynch the following Day.

You are allied with the Staff members.

You win if all Patients are eliminated.

There were several gasps of surprise after the revelation of this file. Next to makiri was a third corpse, Walrein, also apparently beaten to death. Once again, a file was found and read.

Dear Walrein,

You are the Orderly.

Unlike most members of the Staff, you grew up on the streets in a pretty hostile environment. But now that the Patients have started rioting, it seems like you’re going to be able to put your rough childhood experiences to use. As someone who spent three years in a gang, you’ve got toughness to spare.

There’s no question that you’re one of the strongest people working at the mental hospital. At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Holding <user> down.” Whatever actions <user> was planning to do will be stopped in their tracks. But even a guy like you has his limits, so you can’t go after the same person on consecutive nights.

Alternatively, at Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Keeping <user> out of harm’s way.” You’ll get between <user> and anyone who might try to kill him that night. If you want to just guard yourself, that’s fine too.

You are allied with the Staff members.

You win if all Patients are eliminated.

Also on Walrein’s person were several syringes and a set of keys. Everyone took the opportunity to destroy the syringes before they could be used to kill anyone else. Those syringes had caused the Patients too much pain during this conflict. After this undertaking, a more careful search of Walrein’s body revealed a note.

Attention all Hospital Staff.

This Patient revolt is not only the worst you’ve seen, but worse than any of you could imagine. Most of the hospital population, Patient and Staff alike, has been killed since the riot started. The last of you decided to team up and infiltrate the patients as a last resort in order to escape with your lives.

Your team consists of:

Flamestrike, the Doctor
Walrein, the Orderly
bearsfan092, the Nurse
makiri, the Psychiatrist
Ditto, the Pharmacist
kingofkongs, the Receptionist

The situation has never been as dire in this hospital as it is right now. You will need the best of your wits to survive.

It appeared that the Staff had been entirely defeated! Everyone let out a cheer. After some thought, they remember Quagsires and danmantincan, who passed before the Patients turned on each other. If they were still here, they would be glad right now.

With the elimination of the Staff, Quagsires and danmantincan are guaranteed victors of Handicapable Mafia!

But even with the elation over the fall of the Staff, the remaining Patients could not turn back. Too much blood had been shed between then during the conflict, and there was no stopping now. The Patients took the keys taken from Walrein’s corpse and unlocked the Control Room door. But before they entered, the members of the 3rd Floor and 4th Floor stared at each other with a murderous intent.

It is now Day 8.

Day 8 will end September 1st, 10 p.m. Eastern or when majority is reached and all actions are in.

But seriously, there are four of you, get stuff done!

Everyone knew what needed to be done. Paperblade, Pidge, and askaninjask surrounded capefeather and destroyed him.

Dear capefeather,

You have Munchausen Syndrome.

Munchasen Syndrome is a disorder in which you lie about having one or more diseases or conditions in order to get attention or sympathy. Sometimes you’ll even go to extremes to feign an illness, such as taking drugs with dangerous side-effects. Once you were craving attention so much that you pretended to have four different conditions at once.

You don’t have any abilities right now, but don’t worry. You’re bound to get a few interesting ideas soon enough.

You are allied with the 4th Floor Patients.

You win if you eliminate all threats.

He got plenty of inspiration along the way, it seemed.

After the death of the Staff member kingofkongs, you've decided that your illness will have the following effect: At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Shielding <user>.” You will block any non-killing actions that are being used on <user>.

After the Patients’ schism, you've decided that your illness will have the following effect: At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Protecting <user>.” You will guard <user>, stopping someone else from attacking him.

You may only feign one illness at a time, so you cannot both Shield and Protect during the same Night.

And with that, the three of them stood silently in the Control Room. A week had gone by since the initial riots had begun, and an unthinkable amount of blood had been spilled during the conflict. But, finally, they were at the end. After pushing a few buttons, the glowing “Lockdown” light faded, and the doors to the outside unlocked themselves. The three went outside.

First, was Paperblade:

Dear Paperblade,

You are The Drug Dealer.

You started selling drugs a long time ago, and it’s only escalated from there. At all times you have a pretty extensive stash on you, and you can use these drugs to get other people to do all sorts of crazy stuff. The best thing you carry is a Steroid of your own creation, a unique combination of four common steroids.

First, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Get <user1> to turn on <user2>.” You’ll give <user1> a little gift of some good stuff, and they’ll be so grateful that they’ll feel obligated to vote for <user2> the next day.

Additionally, during the Day, you may PM the hosts “Day X - Give Steroids to <user>.” During the Day you slip these Steroids to someone, and that night they’ll get a super-charged version of their normal ability. The next Night, however, they will be unable to act. This ability has no effect on the Staff, but they will still accept the Steroids so they can resell them later.

Finally, you may use this Quicktopic during the day to discuss with an anonymous player. At night, if you both send the action “Night X - Co-inspecting <user>.” then you will both get that player’s role PM.

You are allied with no one.

You win if all other living players have received your Steroids at least once.

He vowed to never make the mistake of walking into a mental hospital to try and steal some new merchandise again. Or try giving random pills to crazy people.

Next, askaninjask ran at top speed through the grounds:

Dear askaninjask,

You have Exhibitionism.

Exhibitionism is desire to bear your chest and/or buttocks to others in situations where it isn’t considered normal. While it isn’t a disorder in every case, for you it has become a compulsion. On a normal day, you’ll flash at least three different people.

While you usually take care of your urge to expose yourself during the day, you’re no stranger to doing it at night too. At Night, you may PM the hosts “Night X - Flashing <user>.” You’ll run up to <user> and flash him, startling him, but having no lasting effect. If <user> was going to try and kill you that Night, however, he’ll be so startled that he’ll mess up his kill, and kill himself instead. You’ll be wounded, even appearing dead, but you’ll be back for more. If, however, <user> was going to kill someone other than you, you won’t be so lucky about surviving, and it will be a complete murder-suicide of you and <user>.

You are allied with the 3rd Floor Patients.

You win if you eliminate all threats.

It wasn’t long before he made it to the road and started exposing himself to, well, everyone. Not a pretty sight.

And finally, Pidge strolled slowly away from the remains of the building:

Dear Pidge,

You have Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alzheimer’s is a degenerative condition most often afflicting the elderly. The most notable symptom is the loss of long-term memory. You’ve lived a long and fruitful life, but because of your condition you can’t remember much about it, not even about your three children.

You have a special talent, but unfortunately you forgot what it is. At Night you may PM the hosts “Night X - Using ability on <user>.” Even if you don’t know what it does, you’re sure it’ll be helpful one way or another.

You are allied with the 3rd Floor Patients.

You win if you eliminate all threats.

He didn’t really have much of an idea where to go, but anywhere was better than what he had spent the last week going through.

I like that I was kingmaker as soon as I was subbed in :) (Well, AG killing himself led to that, but I had no control over that.) Like I said to the hosts, I picked the 3rd Floor Patients because they correctly identified what my team was. Staff had inspect so there's not much of an excuse :P

Yeah, not much we could do since the kingmaker neutral chose 3rd floor over us and the 4th floor decided to suicide because "OMG we're all village and they're mafia they need to lose!!!". We did screw up a lot early on and probably didn't "deserve" to win, but at the same time we managed to get ourselves into a position late-game to win so it still sucks not to.
Also this is why we should have had aska persuaded and not AG, and why we should have used the double kill to hit aska+Pidge while hooking aska (which I assume would have prevented the retribution kill, though you can feel free to correct me if that isn't the case).
