Round 8 - an ending of a pitiful bug...

Realizing how much pain he's taking, Flutter goes on a all-out offensive approach with a shaky Tackle attack! This time around, the tackle makes Guernica a bit more irritated that usual - he's tired of these silly games. From his slimy mouth comes a blazing Flamethrower assault that toasts Flutter into cinders. Almost all his leaves were burnt off!

Flutter's not giving up his attacks, however, and gives Guernica another taste of his Tackle! Plop! Guernica takes the blow with relative ease and throws a Sludge ball right at Flutter's face! No good, Flutter, no good! As Flutter takes the acidic shot, his face and body flutters into acid and he's crying out loud to be back in home... sleeping for another day. At long last, Flutter faints, but he's not without someone to avenge him!

As Guernica is the only Pokemon around, a male Clefairy comes along with a mean look on his face. He wags his finger with a naughty Metronome and POOF comes... Stealth Rock? Several rocks from the cave mystically move and surround the arena with the intent of danger to Guernica's fellow teammate. Beware foul creatures!

A rocky road through Round 9...

With poor Flutters fallen, hoblaph calls him back into his Poke Ball and unleashes a much more stronger foe - Pyro the Embirch! Guernica may now have met his match...

Quicker and stronger, Pyro calls upon the powers of earth and blasts it right underneath Guernica for some crippling damage! It definitely heats up Guernica's sludgy foots into an unbearable degree, but that won't matter in the future! With a click of a finger, Guernica managed to successfully Disable Guernica's Earth Power! No more disrupting the peace of nature, you foul creature!

Next in his book, Pyro conjures upon the flames of hell and swings them around and around into an uncontrollable Fire Spin! Sadly, the plan goes haywire and the Fire Spin goes so wild that it misses Guernica's spot! Instead, it ends up spinning and spinning eastward while lighting up the cave into a bright condition. A hazardous line of fire is thus created and all who shall ever step upon it will be damaged! Not that I know that though... and I'm pretty sure Guernica doesn't really know that either, but he doesn't care as he doesn't have to throw mud on the fire anyway anymore. Instead, he goes for the slap of mud at Pyro's face, who painfully takes the nasty, dirty assault with pride.

Seeing how his trainer ordered another Earth Power, Pyro attempts to carry out the order, but the earlier disable caused him to forget how to conjure it! In frustration, he goes into an angry Struggle that slaps Guernica back and forth, though it doesn't look too damaging at all! However, it did manage to go critical and break small parts of Guernica's slimy skin! Guernica, being the Guernica he is, just LAUGHS and LAUGHS at how much fun he's having - DISABLED EARTH POWER! FIRE SPIN MISS! What more could he want? In his mad laughs, Guernica leaks out some evil sludge that start touching the struggling Pyro's arm cannons that were still connected upon Guernica's slimy skin... slowly... and then... QUICKLY! The sludge has now covered Pyro completely and now he's thrown off guard by this corrosive sludge! AHHH! Pyro's burning! But it seems the acid was short-lived, as it dries up into... nothingness. Quick call man, that was scary!

Whoops, I forgot that Sludge was super effective against Pyro, so I added the respective damage in the last post. Sorry about that. This means Pyro's in for a world of hurt next round (which will be posted after this post).

And I didn't list any Actions:? <_< editing that too for neatness sake.

A critical Round 10!

With flaming ill intentions, Pyro bursts his cannons into wild fires and fires them off at Guernica, surrounding him in a humongous Fire Spin! Guernica... laughs? It appears that he's so causally keeping his cool that he's being cocky! He... releases a gas of poison that is slowly covering the entire arena! Purplo... eveyrwher... uuguhughgsfhhfsg!!! But I'm okay, really! However, Pyro seems pretty purple himself...

Seeing how it's his only option, Pyro releases another Fire Spin attack that goes right through the older Fire Spin and toasts Guernica into burning pain! Guernica... smiles like a demon. He's still not done! Out from his slimes come multiple droplets of a shocking venom that rain down upon Guernica and become extra delicious with the poison received from Poison Gas. He's melting... that Pyro.

This appears to be mad Guernica's last breath! Here, Pyro fires a... you know it... A FIRE SPIN that totally surrounds Guernica and finally blitzes him into bits. The fire spin crackles in laughs until Guernica own laughs die down into a bitter silence. He... has fainted... with the flames with him.

Pyro's chances of survival? Very low. Probability of succeeding? Perhaps there's a chance. Just not likely.

Let's see why. Lookie there, a fellow Clefairy jumping around! She wags her finger - a wonderful Metronome. What is it? What is it? It's... a Growl! Pyro sighs in demoral... but at least it wasn't too bad!

Round 11, a start of a wild new beginning...

With Guernica fallen, Wikey replaces the pile of sludge with a more able soldier - Captain Underwood! Upon his silly entrance, though, sharp rocks stealthily attack the gracious pirate, stabbing his arms and whatnot. Pyro grins in exhaustion. Is he ready for this?

I think so. Pyro's showing his readiness as he spouts out some seeds from his cannon that attach on Underwood's body. They leech life from his healthy soul and regenerate parts of his corrosive wood! Not letting it get to the point of dangerous, Underwood steps up and blasts a salty Brine with his mouth at the weakened Pyro, who takes major damage from the wet blast! At this moment, the seal preventing Pyro from remembering Earth Power has been broken! At long last Pyro can blow holes in stuff!

Now a little more awakened from the Brine and Leech Seed, Pyro decides to unleash his terrible strength with multiple pellets of Bullet Seed! He takes aim, locks on, and FIRES! BUMP! BUUUMP! BUMP! BUUUMP! BUMP! Five hits connect, and two of them even went critical! That's some insane crap Pyro pulled out of his ass! Underwood droops in morale, but he manages to spout out a dangerous Brine attack that washes away at Pyro's pride. Or did it?

Although he made major progress, Pyro's admittedly on the verge of collapsing, so with the help of Giga Drain, he violently pulls the life out of Underwood for his own good. Suffering from the drain, Underwood collapses on his "knees", tired and weary. He then remembers that he has one last action to deliver out - a swirling Circle Throw! Immediately, he grabs onto Pyro and swings and swings and THROOOOOOOWS him right onto the western wall! SMASH! That's gotta hurt!

It seems that one dying Pyro has made it through with a miracle. Will his temporary supply of regeneration help him preserve through and defeat Underwood? That's gotta be one hell of a pyro to do that!

A3: Circle Throw > 6 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) = [12 Damage] [4 Energy]

Wikey's turn!

Damn, looks like Leech Seed and Giga Drain healed him more than I thought. Doing calculations in your head at midnight FTL.

Let's smack him around with Drain Punch until he faints!

Good work Pyro! We can still win this.

As Underwood is coming close to hit you, trap him just away from you with Fire Spin so he can't get close enough to hit you. Then attack with two Giga Drains to heal yourself!

Fire Spin ~ Giga Drain ~ Giga Drain

Wow, this final moment is really up to the ref's logic. I mean, completely. One way, Fire Spin can surround slow Underwood and completely prevent him from moving for a Drain Punch while Pyro barrages him with ranged attacks. Another way, attempt to decipher Fire Spin's description, which says "During Fire Spin, both Pokemon can still issue attacks" but what kind of attacks? Melee, ranged, support, what? If Underwood can still go for a Drain Punch in a Fire Spin, then sure. Does the Fire Spin move like an aura around Underwood, never actually touching him, which means the damage is just "heat" related? If so, then Underwood can move for that Drain Punch if Fire Spin makes room for him to move. Logically, it wouldn't make sense though, so I'm going with my logic of choice.

should've went giga drain x3 XD, wouldn't be making me think of this! 2 giga drains would preserve pyro just good enough while getting the ko on underwood... until we see what clefairy does, mwahahahahaha!

Round 12, the end of time????

Tired, exhausted, and beat, Pyro figures that he has to quickly end this match. How? He has a way. Bursting from his twin cannons comes an array of fire that erupt and surround patient Underwood in a complete Fire Spin! Being surrounded with no where to run, Underwood cannot perform his duty of a Drain Punch! All he's left to do is burn to crisps! This looks bad!

With his plan succeeding into motion, Pyro smiles faintly. He did it, didn't he? All that's left is to finish the job. And he does. With a faithful twin cannon Giga Drain, he completely drains the life out of Underwood and leaves him to suffer into the burning flames of hell. The flames then subside, and all that's left is a scorched Underwood on his back, fainted.

The battle's over, and the outcome is crystal clear. A wild Clefairy doesn't think so though and wags her snazzy finger at the victorious Pyro. Mommy! Mommy! What is it? It's... a Sonicboom! SWOOOOOSH! Pyro's cut off guard and thrown right across the arena onto the ground, where his old Fire Spin miss has gone. On the floor, there's a vigilant Pyro struggling to stay awake, but does he make it? ... Even with the last ounce of poison, I think so. If only barely...

Pyro
A1: Fire Spin > 4 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) x .67 = [7 Damage] [3 Energy]
A2: Giga Drain > 8 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) x 1.5 = [21 Damage, 11 HP restored] [7 Energy]
A3: Giga Drain > 8 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) x 1.5 = [21 Damage, 11 HP restored] [11 Energy]

Underwood
A1: Drain Punch > 8 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) = [14 Damage, 7 HP restored] [7 Energy]
A2: Drain Punch > 13 + 3 + (2-2 x 1.5) = [14 Damage, 7 HP restored] [11 Energy]
A3: Drain Punch > 6 + 3 + (4-2 x 1.5) = [14 Damage, 7 HP restored] [15 Energy]

So that concludes this cool battle and another done subreffing! I hope you guys get a ref who doesn't quit next time!

Candy!

2 Trainer Counters for both of you.
All Pokemon present get 1 EC, 1 MC, and 1 DC.
KO Counters go to: Pyro (2), Guernica (1), Flutter (1), and Luca (1).

I apologize to Little Battler. You have to ref at least 2 rounds to get 1 Ref Token. =( I get 3 Ref Tokens thanks to seeing the match to the end.

I hate to be a pain but I'm going to have to appeal this decision. The description of Fire Spin disagrees with your interpretation.

Fire Spin: The Pokémon shoots a spiraling stream of flames from its mouth or arm cannons, trapping the opponent in a swirling cage of flames. During Fire Spin, both Pokemon can still issue attacks, however any further breath or cannon attacks issued from the same source will release Fire Spin. The opponent will suffer more intense damage if it tries to break out of the flames with normal attacks.

Attack Power: 4 + 2 drain per action | Accuracy: 85% | Energy Cost: 4 | Effect Chance: --
Important stuff in bold. This implies that a battler can leave the spin for an attack they just take extra damage from the fire in doing so.

Yes, I have read the description multiple times. I said there were two ways to go, and that's the other way I thought of.

I will play it out though in this post and see how it goes though, just for fun.

Actually, there is no need to play it out if that were to happen. Drain Punch would flat out OHKO.

edit: i'm editing to see what to do because the description there isn't really as accurate as it should be

I think the description itself is pretty much lacking. It says "tries to" but that doesn't really mean leaving Fire Spin. Does it mean really just going through the rings of the Fire Spin? But then, it says "break out of the flames with normal attacks". Does that imply attacking the Fire Spin with normal attacks to lessen it down so that the Pokemon can try to leave? It's pretty confusing itself. And yes, the Pokemon in the Fire Spin can issue attacks, but can it issue them at the other Pokemon (with physical attacks of course)?

edit: I shouldn't be so hasty for a conclusion. I'll ask around.

After an hour of lurking Serebii's ASB with "Fire Spin" in Post search, I've come to my conclusion that the Drain Punch could not have harmed Embirch during that action. Underwood became trapped and could not escape. Then, being slower, he became a victim of the Giga Drains. Drain Punching the Fire Spin? Maaaaybe? Maybe draining the energies of the Fire Spin to dissipate it... could work in theory. It's all really complicated stuff though...

I think this is my final judgment here. I'm sorry Wikey.

edit: Deck... hopefully he'll be back into activity soon. We asked like 5-6 people to comment on this, and I'm keen on keeping what I have because it seems to be up to the ref's choice.

I agree with Wikey. We should definitely ask Deck Knight about it. I din't want to create a hassle with the attack, but I knew it had to be somewhat questionable. It was the only way I figured I'd have a chance though, considering Drain Punch would have done more than 9 damage, and Pyro wouldn't live the first attack.

If this is re-evaluated, so be it. I'm just sorry for the hassle.

Oh, and thanks Wikey for battling me, and Flora for reffing.
