[SET COMMENTS]

Houndour can utilize Eviolite in order to become a wonderful bulky attacker, while still retaining its great Psychic- and Ghost-busting capabilities. This set is an excellent check to Misdreavus, a threat that made a comeback, taking 66.67% maximum from an unboosted Hidden Power Fighting. Thus, if you play well with this set, Misdreavus should be dealt with easily. Houndour's ability, Flash Fire, also makes it immune to Will-O-Wisp; therefore, unlike Stunky, it will not become dead weight after Misdreavus is taken down. Sucker Punch is an amazing priority move, which reaches 120 Base Power after STAB. Dark Pulse is Houndour's best weapon against Psychic- and Ghost-types, and serves as one of Houndour's main attacks, as it is not only accurate, but also lethal. Dark Pulse manages 81.82% maximum against offensive Misdreavus, after which Houndour can just snipe her down with its priority Sucker Punch. Pursuit traps and KOes weakened foes, especially those weak to it, such as Gastly, Abra, and Misdreavus. Fire Blast is Houndour's hardest hitting attack, which gets even deadlier after a Flash Fire boost.

    [ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

A Hasty nature is used to boost Houndour's Speed without lowering any important stat, as its Special Defense stat is needed to tank hits from Misdreavus and Gastly. Eviolite boosts Houndour's defenses, making it a great bulky attacker, as mentioned above. 196 Special Attack EVs maximize Houndour's Special Attack, while 156 Speed EVs allow it to outspace Scraggy and Magnemite, and also let Houndour Speed tie with Dwebble and Pawniard. 36 Special Defense EVs ensure Houndour will never be OHKOed by Misdreavus's unboosted Hidden Power Fighting after Stealth Rock damage, and the leftover EVs are dumped into Attack to boost Sucker Punch and Pursuit's power. Substitute can be used over one of the aforementioned moves in order to scout switch-ins and hit them with the appropriate move.

Stealth Rock support is appreciated, as it allows Houndour to achieve some OHKOs and 2HKOs. For example, Houndour is very likely to OHKO Misdreavus with Dark Pulse after two Stealth Rock switch-ins, especially as Misdreavus does not have any reliable recovery. Bronzor synergizes well with Houndour, and excels at laying Stealth Rock. Rapid Spin support is more than welcomed, due to Houndour's nasty weakness to Stealth Rock, which strips off 25% of its health each time it switches in. Staryu and Shellder are viable options for this role, as both can easily defeat Gligar, who annoys this set very much.
