____________________________________________
It's now or never..
A few months of training... hours upon hours of dedication... and it all comes down to this...

Alright! No more dramatics! We came here prepared for a battle, and that's exactly wha'ts going to help you! My Pokemon and I accept your challenge! May the best Ice-type trainer win!

Brace yourselves, everyone. It's about to get real cold in here... (and punny. Oh. So. Punny. Don't you mean it snow or never?)

Are we allowed to invoke Turn order = Coin? I would like to do that if possible.
NOW THIS IS FITTING CHALLENGE AND ACCEPTANCE. Not that lame "can I challenge you jazzers?" BS I got some time ago. Yuck.

Anyway.

Here folks is where we will be witnesses of one of the very few true "rivals" matches the ASB has EVER seen!

Glacier Knight and WaterWarrior are self declared candidates for the Ice Gym Leader position for a very long time and are preparing themselves hard for this. With such preparation came a rivalry quite fierce that will spice this battle up, that is for sure.

Our first candidate is Glacier Knight. Glacier is, in a way, an old-timer and arrived on the ASB scene back in the middle of 2011. Ever since the very begining he was a fan of Ice Pokemon, specially one particular mon I will get into later. Some call him stupid, some call him sadistic, some even dared to suggest he took another type to pet, but nothing and nobody ever stopped Glacier from being what he is now: an Ice-Trainer through and through (some would say that automatically means bad, but I don't go that far). Pay special attention to Truffles the Mamoswine. Truffles was the very first pokemon Glacier Knight got and instantly became his signature pokemon. Thick Fat makes the Ground Typing a bonus instead of a hindrance in this battle and he has the movepool and the skills to be more than a fat mamo. a BADASS fat mamo it is!

Our second candidate is Waterwarrior. I got be honest here. "Water"warrior as an "Ice" Gym Leader has an weird ring to it, but I can grow used, I guess. Waterwarrior is man with an odd sense of humor but really focused under all that mecha-cascoon armor. Once he set his eyes on the Ice Gym Leadership, he did all he could to get the UC, the training, the experience, skills and pokemon to make it happen. And time will tell us if he suceeded, but the result thus far is fairly good, I must say. Also, I will start a motion to change his name to "Icewarrior" once this ends, if he indeeds win, so its all good! Pay special attention to Dovahkiin the Weavile. His speed, good stats overall and access to the extremely important Low Kick (and the other gazillion moves on his movepool) will make a difference here, I guarantee.

AND NOW LET'S SEE THE TEAM EACH CHALLENGER BROUGHT!

Team Glacier Knight

Cloyster [Drake "The Fortress"] (Male)
Nature: Gentle (+1 SpD, -1 Def)

Info on Drake: Glacier was enjoying the sights of the seafoam islands as he passed through the southern boundaries of kanto. He was thrilled that a seemingly tropical island contained such icy extents. after going deep within the caverns there was a sudden crash! some belligerent fool in the cavern above was pushing boulders down holes! the sudden crashes caused the floor to break, and without warning Glacier fell into the icy torrents in the lower most floor. with very bad athletic abilities Glacier didnt last long, and quickly fell into unconsciousness.

when he woke up Glacier was inside a small crevice in the seafoam caves. cold and wet, he turned to his side to see a small but valiant shellder. Ever since that fateful rescue, Drake has been close to Glacier's heart. With wit and clever attacks Drake can change the tides o the match, and can even surprise opponents.

Skill Link: (Innate) This Pokemon’s skillful aim makes its multi-hit moves always hit 5 times. The Energy Cost of multi-hit attacks is increased by three (3)
Overcoat (DW ability- UNLOCKED): (Innate) This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).

"My Dream..."

It has been a very long Journey. 2 years... almost that long. Training has always been difficult, what with other adventures and explorations getting in the way. But I have searched far and wide, and found partners I love. They bring me joy, and will today bring not just me, but the whole team, victory.

It is time. I can't back down, nor do I want to. This... this has been in my head ever since I first got Truffles. This moment has been but a dream, a figment of my imagination, until now. Now i stand before my opponent, 6 pokeballs each, crowd cheering and eager to see us take part in battle. I want this position so badly, to show everyone how your favorites, no matter what type or how weak they are said to be, can take you anywhere. With my Favorites, I will become the Ice Leader! I Will not allow someone less passionate than I take my dream away!

Kelvin the Syclant... You have been with me for a while! I remember first finding you; I was skeptical, and I wasn't sure I wanted a Syclar, but I couldnt say no to that cute face of yours. Time and time again you've proved yourself far worthy of being a part of the team. Always nifty, and always a great companion. I love you buggy boy, now fire up the Glass Cannons and get out there!

Sending out Kelvin the Syclant@Expert Belt

"All our training... All our work... Finally, it will all pay off!"

Well Glacier, I'll give you this. My journey may have only lasted about half the times yours has, but don't let that make you think you're entitled to anything! Now, let me show you that even though your Pokemon may be older, ours are more powerful! We'll break the ice with Klavier Gavin @ Expert Belt! Get out there and show our opponent that we're not one to trifle with!

Hidden Power -> Bug Buzz -> Hidden Power
If Electroweb AND Klavier does not already have a Substitute up, change that action to Substitute (15 HP) and push back
If Taunt AND Kelvin is not already Taunted, change that action to Taunt and push back

Get ready everyone! This is going to be one cool battle!

Heh, Pitting Syclant against Syclant eh? While I admit, your training has been much speedier than ours, you seem to lack experience! Power isn't everything you know, my friend. To be a Gym leader... to sit at the pinnacle of this realm, you must understand there is more to a battle than power! Kelvin and I will now show you our bond. Be prepared!

Round 1

A Journey begins with the first step. Sometimes that step is a leap, sometimes is a fall and sometimes a step is just that: a step.

Glacier Knight decides that his first step is an Ice Bug as he sends out Kevin the Syclant with an Expert Belt. Waterwarrior responds with an Ice Bug of his own: Klavier Gavin the Syclant with an Expert Belt. And now reffing becomes 200% complicated as I see everything in doubles >_<.

A first glance may make you believe that this is an equal match. But that would be wrong. Waterwarrior chose his pokemon well and countered Glacier's to a good extent. Klavier Gavin is faster and has Hp Fire and Stone Edge and that alone makes it the better syclant for a 1vs1 mirrormatch (is it the best overall? I don't know, only time will tell).

But Kelvin is the one that starts this match is it erects a Protective barrier to block Klavier Gavin's Expert Belt-boosted Hidden Power (Fire) which would, otherwise, deal quite some damage to the Ice Bug. To Glacier's Ice bug that is.

Next, Klavier Gavin begins emitting a very IRRITATING noise, aka, ze Bug Buzz! Not having to deal with flammable stuff this turn, Kelvin doesn't really mind all the buzz, aside from a little hearing-loss, and summons an Icy Wind on the field to slow Klavier Gavin down. Kelvin is now faster!

Finally, exploiting a sub, Glacier Knight orders to Kelvin to spread Electrowebs on the field, slowing Kelvin Gavin further, as WW's Syclant is busy creating a 15hp substitute, a bit too late.

ASB is, at heart, a game of momentum. The one that orders first tries to lose as little momentum as he can while the one that orders last tries to get as much momentum as possible. Glacier Knight got a good share of momentum this round, albeit not enough to call it "advantage". But will he be able to use it properly and avoid a turn of events? Or will Waterwarrior steal Glacier's thunder and put this match on equal, or even advantageous grounds? We will see that in the next round, so stay tuned!

Kelvin: Protect for 18 energy

Klavier Gavin: Hidden Power (Fire): (9+1.5+2)*2.25= 28.12 protected damage for 5 energy

Klavier Gavin: Bug Buzz: 9+3+1.5 = 13.5 damage for 6 energy

Glacier Knight's Turn!

Excellent set-up Kelvin! We've gained some momentum indeed. However, I can't take you further in these situtations. No matter what we try, you will take a hefty portion of damage, I'm sure of it. You will see the light of battle again, I promise. But for now.. return!

Now... now to send out a newer friend of mine. Battle stance, Theodore the Beartic!

Theodore, you'll always be my Teddy. I remember first finding you! We went straight to the Battle Hall, and i was shocked to see you complete 6 battles! Just a fresh Cubchoo! I knew you were always going to be a force to be reckoned with buddy, and I was right. No matter what opponent, you can always dish out some great damage. And that's why I need you now. Show them our bond Theodore! Though still young, It is taut as rope! They can't snap us; give them the old' Clothes Line!

Returning Kelvin the Syclant
Sending out Theodore the Beartic@Hard Stone

We may not have Counter, but I do know that you're majorly over selling your little polar bear! Do your worst!

We're not going anywhere!

Over-selling? I think not.. try to counter this! Our bond will gain us even more momentum!

Encore~Aerial Ace~Swords Dance

-If syclant uses a damaging fighting move a3, AND the other sub does not activate, use protect that action

Round 2

Tired of the mirror-match, Glacier tries to keep the momentum up by retreating Kevin and sending out Theodore the Beartic with Hard Stone. Thanks to Electoweb + Icy Wind, Theodore is slightly faster than Klavier.

But Klavier is the first to act as it combines Ice Shard + Blizzard to give a good hit in before Theodore could move! And that move had a bonus in blocking the Beartic's incoming Encore as Combos can't be encored, thus the move failed!

While Klavier cools down, Theodore destroys the substitute with a well-aimed Aerial Ace. Finally, it...does a dance of some sort? That is right, Theodore performs a Swords Dance to boost his attack, right before being hit by Klavier's strong Stone Edge!

And with this simple round, Waterwarrior grabbed some momentum of his own and a small but present health advantage. Syclant's speed raised a bit and now he is fasted than Beartic, although Theodore seems ready to smash from rocks on the IceBug. Let's see the next moves...

Syclant: Ice Shard + Blizzard: (15.5/2+1.5)*0.67+(15.5/2+3)*0.67 = 13.4 damage for 17 energy
Crit: 15

Beartic: Encore: failed for 10 energy

Beartic: Aerial Ace: (6+4.5)*1.5= 15.75 damage for 4 energy
Crit: doesn't matter

Syclant's sub disappeared!

Syclant: cooldown

Beartic: Swords Dance for 7 energy

Syclant: Stone Edge: (10+1.5+2)*1.5=20.25 damage for 7 energy

Excellent job Klavier! I'd love to keep you in as long as I can, but in a battle like this, I doubt that you would last much longer if you fought this bear for much longer. No matter! Let's put some fresh snow on the battlefield with Frozone @ King's Rock!

Do your worst, Glacier!

Excellent job Theodore, now return! I know just who to send out to battle this crustacean!

Round 3

Pleased with the results of last round, Waterwarrior retreats Klavier Gavin and sends out his second pokemon: Frozone the Cloyster with King Rock. Skill Link + King Rock is a dangerous combination, let's see how well WW uses it (spoilers: he doesn't).

To counter, Glacier retreats and regroups, calling back his Beartic Theodore and sending out Kevin the Syclant once more, activating Mountaineer once more.

And said Mountaineer pretty much shuts down Frozone and Cloyster is forced to start Biding and collecting energy. Kevin didn't attack though and Taunted the bivalve.

On the second turn, Kevin goes on the offensive and strikes with an extremely powerful Focus Blast that fuels Frozone's Bide. But for which price?

Frozone Unleashes the collected power for great damage...which was partially healed by Kevin's Giga Drain.

With that Glacier_Knight is back on the lead. Not by much though. Also, Mountaineer faded and Syclant is now vulnerable to rock blast attacks. hmmm...

Waterwarrior's turn!

Since Cloyster is immune to Hail, Overcoat gives Cloyster pseudo-Sturdy, so Focus Blast and Giga Drain should have 1 less BAP. When its fixed, it won't have any effect on my actions.

"Crap... Taking this damn bug out now would just be fantastic, but let's face it, it just has too many goddamn tricks up its sleeve... I hate that I have to do this, but Klavier, get back out there! Since our opponent obviously isn't just going to sit in and watch one of his hard hitters die, let's see what comes out now... and, uh, something something ice pun something."

That's enough! I think its time we played a new game. You won't be playing me like a pipe anymore; I've got the perfect set-up!

...it is time.

Truffles. You're up.

You were my first. The first pokemon I ever had. I remember the day I got you like it was this morning, and I doubt i'll ever forget it. You've been with me since the get-go, from the very beginning, and you've never let me down. I've watched you grow, and grow and grow. Hah.. just a little baby swinub, and now you're such a big old' badass. You've protected me, fought for me, and taken care of me when times have gotten rough. And i've done the same for you. Truffles, you're my best bud, my main man. Our bond isn't iron, or titanium, nor any kind of metal.

Our bond is forever. Only we can see it. It extends to all corners of the globe, into the deepest ocean and way into space. Show him now! Show him, our opponent, what you can do!

Things are not looking up for Glacier Knight this round! With an HP disadvantage and a faster foe staring down his Mamoswine with Super Effective coverage, it looks like there is no way out! Still, they don't call Truffles "The Boss" for nothing—but how will he weasel his way out of this one without Gavin's help?

Syclant starts off strong, leeching health from Mamoswine with the essence of... grass? Nobody said GameFreak made sense, but that sure as hell hurt! The pig-elephant retaliates with some well placed rocks, which pin the icicle-bug! It'll take some time to free himself from the rocks—time which he doesn't have, as Mamoswine follows up quickly with a shower of rocks which knock out the Syclant!

Waterwarrior, please send in a replacement Pokemon. Then, Glacier can order or switch.

Frosty forgot to put that Truffles had -1 SpD from the last round, so my Giga Drain should have done a little more. Also, a bit stupid of me, but I just noticed that the mistake I pointed out two round ago (Cloyster's Overcoat reducing damage) was never fixed. If you could fix those things, that would be pretty... /me puts on sunglasses for the umpteenth time... cool

ok those errors (which were surprisingly difficult to deal with, given how you used bide AND he used giga drain.. i had to re-ref the round ;-;) have been fixed in the end of round summary for the newest round

I never doubted you one bit Truffles. You're always capable of destroying the foe! Our opponent would be wise not to forget that... Now, return buddy. You've still got some kick in you, but you're going to have to rely on a certain strategy to be helpful, which won't work at the moment. Take a break!

Waterwarrior... how dare you try and disgrace the name i've built for my Mamoswine. Yours? Superior? Hah! A Mamoswine is capable of more than you could ever comprehend, and your miserable bond with your own will be your failure. But truffles and I... I crack a smile even thinking of the comparison. We've been though thick and thin; when the going got tough, we stood our ground and got tough back. And you DARE mock that? All that we've acheived? What we've done? No, I shall not accept that. You may boast that you dealt heavy blows to my Mamoswine, but you will NEVER be able to say you defeated it in battle. On the contrary, my friend, it will be Truffles with the last move, ending your frosty campaign.

But enough of that talk! Time to send out Drake the Cloyster! Now THIS is a proud bivalve! Your mamoswine won't be able to do a thing.
