Arena: Gliscor's Peak
Field Type: Neutral
Complexity: Moderate
Format: All

Restrictions: No Water Source, No Digging

Description: THE SETTING
Gliscor's Peak is a place 900m above sea level set on a wide, flat rocky expanse, about 100mx100m in size. Surrounding the place is several other mountainous peaks, which is only there for flavour. There are rocks around in this expanse if you want to use moves like Rock Slide.

THE COMPLEX PART
Gliscor's Peak is home to a Gliscor hailed by locals as "The King". This Gliscor is not happy that a battle is taking place here & right from the outset, he'll attack. Each action, he'll target a random Pokemon with a random move from his movepool. He has unlimited energy, but he has finite HP. If you knock him out, the Pokemon that does gains 20 HP & Energy for free. However, after 6 actions, he'll regain consciousness & start attacking again. Also, every 6 actions, he'll summon a swarm of Gligar that will hit everyone.

Nudeln: "Tangelaaa!"

*Grabs Vine and works himself up*

*huff puff...phew*

"Thanks. Looks like we reached the critical point, Nudeln. This is the Gliscor's Peak, where the King lives!"

Nudeln: Tangela Tangela? (translation: the king? but who is the king?)

"Honestly I don't know. People only refer to him as 'king'. But being hidden on Gliscor's Peak, I have but one guess."

Nudeln: Tangela? (translation: which is?)

"It is probably Elvis! you know, the King of Rock and Roll? I heard he was hiding somewhere in Unova!"

Nudeln:...tangela.

"Looks like I am not the only Elvis fan around here! There are four trainers back there probably also looking for the King! HEEEEY!"

Trainers: "What?!"

"Are you also looking for the king"

Its_a_Random: "Shush, don't call him or he will wake up. We are trying to have a battle here!"

"THE KING IS HERE?! WHERE?"

Lyris: He is right there *points to a gliscor*

"...but that is a Gliscor, not Elvis."

Temperantia: "Elvis? this guy is more stupid than he looks"

Lord Jesseus: "*sigh* the king is the Gliscor. He is called that because he rules the gligars around and is supposedly unbeatable".

"YOU MEAN I CLIMBED THIS DREADED MOUNTAIN FOR A STICKIN' GLISCOR!?"

Nudeln: "Tangelaaa!!" (Translation: look out, the gliscor woke up!)

Trainers: see what you did! now he will attack us.

"Oh shuttup, you would wake him up eventually anyway. But since I am really, can I ref your match? I assume you two here will face you two there, right? Show me your pokemon"

"So, here we are at a mountainous peak, & the foolish ref goes ahead & wakes 'The King' up. Right...Anyways, go Sheeldon! You seem the most appropriate mon to use at the moment!"

Sheeldon @ Chesto Berry

Wait, no water, no digging, huge fucking Gliscor... I should read the stage descriptions more carefully.

Oh well, let's go with Epsilon the Luxio! Chesto Berry/Guts

"You fool! When this battle is over, I swear I will just beat your face in for waking up that giant monstrosity!"

"Now, now Lenneth. Let's just get this battle started..."

"Pssh, alright. Goliath, go! Use your Poison Point to our advantage and hold onto your Cheri Berry!"

All right Axew, let's go! Wield the Red Card!
Dragon Dance ~ Swords Dance ~ Dragon Claw @Eelektrik
If Eelektrik uses Thunder Wave, use Taunt on Eelektrik so your actions like this: A1 & A3 = Remove swords dance, don't replace other actions (i.e.: Taunt ~ Dragon Dance ~ Dragon Claw :: Dragon Dance ~ Dragon Claw ~ Taunt); A2 = replace Swords Dance (Dragon Dance ~ Taunt ~ Dragon Claw). Everything without a target is @Elektrik

"C'mon, Goliath, show these peons a power worth showing off! Ice Beam Axew, then lay a layer of Toxic Spikes. Finally, Ice Beam Axew again."

OK Luxio let's charge up, then get some sparks flying against nidoran; make a point of running across the Toxic Spikes on the way there, and if that doesn't work AIM FOR THE HORN and hope we activate Poison Point. Finish up with Wild Charge, still against Nidoran.

Round 1

And we are ready to start this messy battle! On one side, we have Team 1 composed of Its_a_Random with his Levivating Eeelektrik, Sheeldon and Laharl and Lenneth (read: Temperantia) with their Poison Point Nidoran-M – Goliath. On the other side we have Team 2, composed of Lyris1035 with his idontknowwhichabilitywontuseanyofthemuntillyrisselectsone Axew, Kibago and Lord Jesseus with his Gutsy Luxio, Epsilon.

Also, The King is coming here and he doesn’t look very friendly. Sorry again!

Action 1

And The King starts with match by charging at poor Goliath with his Ice Fangs. BIG fangs ready to chew some nice grandmas. Of course, if he were a wolf, that joke would be much funnier >_>.

Anyway, The Nidoran seems unphazed by the attack and ignores the Gliscor as he fired an Ice Beam at Kibago, freezing his mouth and dealing decent damage. The Axew, in the other hand, forgives and forgets as he performs a mystical Dragon Dance to boost its attack and speed. Epsilon and Sheeldon both join the setup bandwagon and use Charge and Coil respectively.

And I and Nudeln use Yawn, because all this set up is VERY boring.

Nudeln: Tangela! …*yawns* (translation: word!)

The King: Move: 3/12 (Ice Fang): Ice Fang at Goliath - 7 + 3 = 10 damage
Target RNG: (1 – Random, 2 – Temperantia, 3 – Lyris, 4- Lord Jesseus): 2 (Temperantia’s Poke)
Hit RNG: 67 (yes)
Crit RNG: 3/16 (no)
Freeze RNG: 3/10 (no)
Flinch RNG: 3/10 (no)

Goliath: Ice Beam at Kibago: 10*1.5 = 15 damage for 7 energy
Crit RNG: 15/16 (no)
Freeze RNG: 2/10 (NO)

Kibago: Dragon Dance for 6 energy
+1ATK and SPE

Epsilon: Charge for 7 energy
+1 SPD

Sheeldon: Coil for 9 energy
+1ATK, DEF AND ACC

Action 2

Der König also doesn’t seem to like all this set up and he summon a Gligar Swarm to wake everybody up. And hurt them, of course. This had a weird effect, as both pokemon mostly damaged by the attack continued setting up. Kibago used Swords Dance to boost his attack tenfold and Goliath spread some Toxic Spikes around the opponent’s team area thinking on the future generations.

Meanwhile, both electric pokemon start their offensive agenda. First Epsilon surrounds himself with an electric energy with Spark and charged at Goliath, making a small detour to step on some Toxic Spikes and get poisoned. The detour affects his speed a bit, lowering the power of the attack. Finally, Sheeldon got tired of all Kibago’s dances. Perhaps the Axew is a crappy dancer!

Nudeln: “Tangela!” (Translation: He is!)

…thank you for that lovely comment, Nigel Lythgoe.

Back to the battle…Sheelgon got tired of the dance and tried to immobilize Kibago with Bind, around Axew’s…erm….shoulders, so to speak.

The King: Move: 12/12 (Gligar Swarm)
Vs Sheeldon: 8+3+1.5=12.5*0.75*0.67 = 6.3 – 1.5 = 4.8 (5) damage
Vs Goliath: 8 + 3 + 3 =14*0.75= 10.5 (11) damage
Vs Epsilon: 8 + 3 + 1.5 = 12.5*0.75*0.67 = 6.3 (7) damage
Vs Kibago: 8 + 3 + 3 = 14*0.75 = 10.5 (11) damage
Crit RNG: 5/16, 11/16, 15/16, 6/16 (no no no no)

Kibago: Swords Dance for 7 energy
+2 ATK
-2hp due to Bind

Goliath: Toxic Spikes for 6 energy

Epsilon: Spark at Goliath: 67+ 3 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 15*0.67 = 10 damage for 4 energy
Crit RNG: 3/16 (no)
Paralysis RNG: 10/10 (NO)
-2hp due to poison

Sheeldon: Bind at Kibago: 3 + 3 = 6 damage for 3 energy
Hit RNG: 66/100 (yes)
Crit RNG: 10/16 (no)

Action 3

O Rei agrees with us and also shows his disapreciation for Kibago’s dances with a swift Quick Attack before he returns to his position and continues to watch the battle. If I could understand gliscors I would say that he is actually liking the whole event!

Kibago tries to use Dragon Claw at the Eelektrik as a payback for the poor treatment he has received, but his arms were immobilized so he couldn’t do the entire motion. BUT he did manage to scratch it from below, dealing decent damage. Goliath develops a sense of partnership and comes to the rescue of his recently-damaged-yet-still-binding partner with another Ice Beam directed at Kibago’s mouth, freezing it a bit. I wouldn’t try to use fang attacks (of course he doesn’t have any, so it doesn’t matter).

Epsilon continues the rescue circle by hitting Goliath with Wild Charge with coupled with the charge and guts boosts deal quite some damage to the poor Nidoran.

To end it, Sheeldon continues to maim the Axew as he attacks with Crunch without releasing him from the bind.

Ok, sadly I don't think we can stop Nidoran's nefarious plans, but we'll hit him a Wild Charge anyway. Then we'll Spark him Twice. If he faints before then, Crunch Eelektrik.

I listed Coil & Bind as a combo, not that it matters now...

"Meh, heh, heh..."
Release Kibago & Wild Charge, attempting to intercept Epsilon's Wild Charge > Coil + Bind Kibago

Now let's see if we get a combo this time around...

Happy 4th of July!
Scary Face @Nidoran ~ Iron Flip (Front Flip (google it :P) while using Iron Tail) into Gliscor ~ Reversal @Eelektrik
If Kibago is already faster than Nidoran, Taunt @Nidoran A1 instead.
BTW, into Gliscor means attack Eelektrik (trying to make it release Kibago) and The King (Gliscor) in 1 action (If possible, everyone's been ignoring it!).

Sorry for not noticing the combo, but honestly you can't expect me to see, while getting all the data done, that you used "+" instead of "-". For future rounds, please use either the word "combo", "combine" or other similar ones or at least mention that on the next turn you won't be able to move. That should make it easier for me to notice your intentions.

Round 2

Action 1

Le roi really disliked Kibago’s Dances, as he once again quickly attacks it. The Axew uses the pain as a fuel for a menacing Taunt directed at Goliath, rendering it unable to use Toxic Spikes. The poor nidoran doesn’t seem to catch a break as, seconds later, Epsilon charges wildly at him, dealing insane damage thanks to Guts and Charge. Sheeldon even tried to intercept the attack, but Epsilon was much closer to the target and is faster, so the Eelektrik had to get satisfactied with revenge instead of protection, hitting the Luxio also with Wild Charge

The King: Move: 5 (Quick Attack) at Kibago – 4 + 3 = 7 damage

Action 2

El Rey is a sucker for ganging up and joins the party by using Night Slash against Goliath. Kibago probably thought that the Nidoran was his and his alone and tried to fend the Gliscor off with Iron Tail. Of course that didn’t even scratch King’s Sturdy exterior, but you can’t say he didn’t try. Goliath fight back and fired an Ice Beam at Kibago, leaving it hanging by the skin of his teeth

Meanwhile, Epsilon delivers the coup de grace at Goliath, ending it with strong Spark. Sensing that Luxio was an opponent that demanded more careful planning, Sheeldon decided to remove KJibago of the equation with a combination of Coil + Bind, which resulted in a stronger bind that completely immobilized the Axew, as well as a convenient Defense boost. The strenght of the Bind was too much for Axew, that also bit the dust.

Action 3
Ouja, noticing that He didn’t attack any of the electric mons yet, slashes Epsilon with the power of the Night. The Luxio ignores Gliscor for a while and now focus on Sheeldon, attacking it with a mighty Crunch.

Finally, starting to get pissed at the battle on his domains, Ouja summons yet another Gligar Swarm that hurts all pokemon. Not that much thanks to the electric typing, but hey! better than nothing.

The description tells it all:

Escape Button
Consumable. After being struck by an opposing Pokemon's attack, this may be activated by the player without using an action. When activated, this item is consumed and the activating Pokemon may do any one of the following:
- Be guaranteed a successful dodge against the opposing Pokemon's next action
- Switch out at the end of the round to another of the player's Pokemon of their choosing
You choose when to activate it (when you post your actions) and you choose the effect. Unfortunately since it is Switch=KO you can only choose the first effect.

EDIT:...actually it is Switch=OK. Me=Stupid. You can choose any of both actions (I edited the second one in for your convenience).

As for getting items back, I’d say no, or else the player that manages to get a permanent item like Life Orb or Evolite would get a huge advantage to not only 1 poke but to the entire team.

Король vanished in the shadows and emerged to attack Epsilon in a faint attack!. I think he likes you!

Epsilon, inspired by the king’s sneaky attack, also turned evil for the moment and Crunched the other newcomer Persephone the litwick as a rather dubious welcome gift.
