jas61292 vs deadfox081: African Nights! (SS Refs)

Status
Not open for further replies.
So, I just got off a wrecked ship in the middle of a storm from a previous battle, so I decided to get faar away from water. I headed out, Jack Knave at my back, towards the Heartland. Far away from any fellow ASBers who may try to interupt my day off.

I had walked all day, and I can't really remember what happened. All I remember was my Riolu dragging me under a tree (Fighting types ignore Weight-Attack Difference), and when I woke up, it was dark.

AND THERE'S PEOPLE BATTLING HERE, TOO!

Open Challenge:

3v3 Singles
First stages only
2 Day DQ
2 Rec/5 Chill
Arena: A savanah. At night. So it's kinda dark. There are lots of other Pokemon around, but unless provoked, will not interfere in the battle. Not much else is special.
I'll take you on there jas.

TuffPuff, you're (comparatively) the veteran here, so get out there and show the newbies how it's done.

Well, as offence isn't particularly our strong suit at the moment we could be here for a bit of a while. Lets start off with Shine and see how we go.

Our movepool is extremely thin, so lets just go with this:

Fire Blast > Solarbeam > Fire Blast

Well, umm... yeah. Fake Tears will make things easier, but its not any of our other status moves will do much right here, so just return fire for now. Our higher HP should make up for the STAB boost it gets, so this should be fairly even.

Fire Blast - Fake Tears - Fire Blast

I can't post colour right now, because my monitor's being stupid and everything's tinted blue. But, you have your round, right? Be happy! =]

Please note I am the most inconsistent Ref in the World, but I have never seriously violated DQ, and the few times I did were because of my Tutor being late. Everything when's due, yes?

Round 1 Start!
~sigh~ You know, I think it's past these Little Cupper's bedtimes, don't you?

Shine's the first to assert itself, taking a deep breath and absolutely Blasting TuffPuff with an almighty Fire! The suddenness of the attack must have taken the little Balloon pokemon off-guard, because that's a Critical Hit! TuffPuff, not on to be showed up, retaliates with a Fire Blast of her own! Not nearly as powerful, but it did damage.

Shine stops for a moment, glowing slightly as it begins to take in energy from the Sun. TuffPuff, in an effort to make her foe drop it's guard, begins to cry loudly, big Fake Tears rolling down its rolley cheeks. Shine, substituting sunlight for moonlight, launches a stunning (yet decidedly lackluster) blue SolarBeam at TuffPuff. It's wheeling, but it's still got some fight left.

Our Larvesta friend continues the assault, launching yet another Fiery Blast at TuffPuff. Not to be left behind, TuffPuff once again throws her own Fire Blast, determined not to be outdone.

So, that's tonight's reffing. I am SimonSays, and... Wow, wait a moment. It would seem all this Fire and Light being thrown around has woken some of the locals, and we now have an audience. I don't think any of them will appreciate being hit by an uncontrolled attack. Be careful with your missed moves and "Hit All, inc. your own" attacks, lest you be on the receiving end of one of these beasts.

EDIT: Sorry, Did the reffing too late at night to be coherent. I normally count all those things, that's why I keep the space for them.

A couple slight things on your reffing SS. You should display the stat boosts and/or drops on your round end summary. Also the drop from Fake Tears wouldn't have decayed yet. +/- 2 boosters only decay at the end of the round they are used if they take place on the first action of the round.

Anywho, when in doubt roleplay!

Ok Shine, I want you to kick off by firing a String Shot right into her eyes. This should cover the eyes up and stop us from seeing any of those Fake Tears, meaning they have no further effect on us. Then I want you to Dodge the incoming Fire Blast. If we're lucky the string on Igglybuff's eyes will also reduce her accuracy, but she's still at less than a 50% chance to hit you either way and once she misses we can see what the grassland creatures do. Finally hit back with another Fire Blast of your own, the accuracy of which should be much more reliable.

Summary
String Shot to the eyes > Dodge > Fire Blast

Sorry if I'm late. My computer access is rather limited right now. Everything's there, and I'm working towards flavour, as normal.

Haha, gettit? With all the Fire Blast SPAM, it's... never mind. This is SimonSays, and my humour is off.

Shine, exploiting its brilliant Speed, quickly launches a String Shot at TuffPuff, aiming directly at her eyes to blind her before she can shed her Fake Tears again. Some brilliant quick-thinking on deadfox's part, if I do say so myself.

TuffPuff, frustrated at her inability to see, launches another [f]Fiery Blast[/b] towards Shine. Not about to take it lying down, she jumps off to the side, Dodging the impending danger. The Kanji letter sails through the night air, glorious in its... Ohh, crap. It just hit a Nidoqueen in the side. Enraged, it runs straight at the little mawhéro ball, Biting down hard and throwing it to the side. Satisfied, it stomps off, slouching back next to the Kangaskhan.

Shine, inspired by its own deviousness and cunning, breathes out another Fire Blast to wash over the little Igglybuff. Wow, it seems that getting hit in the face with a giant wall of flame may have been helpful; the String Shot has been burnt away, leaving TuffPuff's sight uninhibited to use... Yet another Fire Blast. Hmph.

This is SimonSays, and the locals do not take kindly to unwarranted violence.

Well Alex, there is not much you can do to this thing, but we will try none the less. Lets try to evade it's moves and let Poison do its work.
