[Overview]

  • It's a bunch of gears.
  • Cool sweeper
  • Decent bulk
  • Godawful movepool

[SET]
name: Manual Transmission
move 1: Shift Gear
move 2: Gear Grind
move 3: Return
move 4: Substitute / Hidden Power Ground
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
nature: Adamant / Naughty
evs: 224 HP / 252 Atk / 32 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Set up and sweep. Simple.
  • Return for stuff that resists Steel, such as Emboar, Eelektross...
  • HP Ground for Magneton and other Klinklang.
  • Substitute blocks status, and augments Klinklang's decent defenses.
  • Speed EVs are set to beat Timid Scarf Rotom-F/Rotom-S after a Shift.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

  • doo dah, doo dah...

[Other Options]

  • Volt Switch
  • Rock Smash + Fighting Gem

[Checks and Counters]

  • Weaker on the special side, doesn't like Fire or Ground.
  • Emboar, Magneton...
  • Bulky waters, especially Unaware Quagsire.
  • Defensive Torterra (Haven't seen one of these yet)
  • Camerupt, Torkoal, defensive Rotom-S, defensive Eelektross, other Klinklang (must have HP Ground) and Gurdurr.

Clear Body would be really nice.

Counters section needs actual counters - i.e. bulky waters (especially Quagsire), defensive Torterra and so on.

You want 32 Speed EVs in order to beat Timid Scarf Rotom-A at +2. Faster Scarfers than that are *rare*. Unless you wanted to Sub on Miltank Body Slams or something, but you're probably better off with the bulk.

Other than that, it looks fine. Klink isn't a complicated mon.

Why is Fraxure listed under checks and counters? I'm pretty sure that gets annihilated after a Shift Gear. Also, you really only need a very small investment in speed like Ice-eyes mentioned just because it outpaces everything after a boost. Dump da rest in HP.

Also Fraxure doesn't get Earthquake (new fact I recently learned) soooo it can't do jack. Good checks/counters include: Camerupt, Torkoal, defensive Rotom-S, defensive Eelektross, other Klinklang (must have HP Ground) and Gurdurr.

I second the 32 speed EVs, though I generally run a few less than that for some unknown reason (My spread outspeeds Scarf Braviary at +2, I should probably invest some more but "oh well").

Has anyone legitimately used Rock Smash + Fighting Gem in any battle?

No Earthquake? o_O News to me too.

Rock Smash + Fighting Gem was just an idea I had, haven't actually tested it yet. It's stronger than a resisted Gear Grind when super effective.

Other than that, changes made. Thanks guys!
