Latias

[OVERVIEW]

  • Very powerful Pokemon with excellent stats both Mega and pre-Mega, especially defensively.
  • Expansive movepool with moves such as Healing Wish, Defog, and Recover/
  • Great ability in Levitate that lets it get many switch-ins
  • Decent speed tier at 110, however gets speed tied a lot
  • Typing poses a threat to many Pokemon such as Tomohawk and Crucibelle
  • BoltBeam coverage allows it to hit most of the metagame at least neutrally
  • Typing also creates nasty weaknesses to Fairies and Pursuit trapping
  • Unable to break past Steels and Unaware Clefable

[SET]
name: Mega BoltBeam
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Ice Beam

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Thunderbolt and Ice Beam work together to have near perfect coverage, but they don't hit as hard as STABs
  • Thunder Wave slows down faster threats and takes some pressure off of less speed investment. It also annoys any walls
  • Recover allows reliable recovery so that Latias is not worn down by less powerful attacks
  • Calm Mind is an option to allow Latias to set up on Pokemon that it might not normally break past.

Set Details
========

  • Latiasite allows Latias to Mega-evolve, which gives it better stats all around
  • 192 Speed EVs and a Timid nature allow it to outspeed Jolly Garchomp and threats such as Mega-Gardevoir.
  • 68 EVs in Defense increases its physical bulk and allows it to live AV Colossoil's Pursuit from full health
  • 248 EVs are put into HP to maximize Latias's overall bulk.
