"One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure"

The LC Dumpster is a place where you can post your teams and sets that aren't quite of top notch, but are still viable options. These can be teams that had promise, but for some reason did not work quite as well, or sets that are "innovative" but are missing something that would really help them be viable. This would be the place where you could post said teams and sets in the hopes that someone else would make them a more serious team. Teams and sets should be posted with a brief description of what it's job or purpose is and why it doesn't work.

Please note that this is not a place for things that are completely unviable, they need to at least work on paper.

I'll start, just to get the ball rolling.

Ability: Defeatist
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 180 Atk / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Head Smash
- Acrobatics
- U-Turn

This team was built around using pokemon that are prone to losing momentum, and then complimenting it with mons that are good at regaining momentum. Scraggy is used as a sweeper and a general wincon, Archen and Staryu are the teams wallbreakers, and general serve the team well with their coverage. The team generally struggles with keeping the momentum once it gets it, as it gets worn down a little too quickly.

Here's an example of a set or core.

Venipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 124 Def / 140 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Pin Missile
- Poison Jab
- Toxic Spikes

Venipede's job on this team is to eliminate Abra, by forcing it out with Pin Missile. After a Speed Boost it outspeeds Abra and almost always scores the kill on it. Poison Jab and TSpikes are filler, but I'd be interested in seeing what other people do with those slots. The main problem is if there's no Abra, the pokemon is pretty much a waste of a slot.

Alright, let's do some dumpster diving!

Wanted To post more but need to work in like 20m. Goodluck Builders!!!

Ok so I gave this team to my friend to ladder before and its kinda fire if I'm being completely honest. Idea was dual HJK and have a bunch of stuff to support the clicking of said move. Koffing and Vullaby pivot into the things that the Fighters are weak to; stuff like Timburr and Foongus, for example. Got the Diglett to trap Mareanies and Beat Up Abra, and Lileep also helps with broken Special Attackers lol. Team is kinda whack though, seems easy to wear down and has a bad color scheme too. Don't ask about the Vullaby set, just know it belongs here the most out of the 6 mons.

Once Vulpix got banned I knew that no one was gonna run sun checks anymore. Team actually managed 2 get some surprise wins on dudes like goao. Manual sun is the future; I mean all I really did was put a Riolu over Vulpix since its got prankster sunny day which is kinda neat. Main issue with this team is just having to waste that turn setting up the sun, but like 6 turns is still a lot for Bell and Bulba to do stuff. Main threat = abra and gastly, was thinking of pawn over staryu maybe.

IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, people don't really run fire types in lc so like I decided to abuse that fact and have 3 of them on a team. Its actually pretty flames if im being completely honest, like with all the lures for foongus these days it sux that u have a 50% foongus to deal with on the side as well (morelull). Also features the broken mon in this tier, vullaby, so theres that as well. I think the thing to take away from this though is 2 grass types can be a solid annoying core 2 deal with, maybe ferro foongus could be those two mons. make sure your bird check isnt solely ferro as well if u wanna take inspiration from this dumpster level team. This beat dundies but that might just be cause he uses slowpoke on 100% of his teams.

The slightly modified version of my favorite XY team. In XY the Doudo was a Fletchling, so if you want to try that it's really fun and decent. Original team was built during a tutoring session between me and Coco so she gets a shoutout, but this gen this team is p shit.O and the nicknames are very mid-last year me, so please excuse them.

I'll do some teams first:

http://pokepast.es/e39e417977f02d68

Sharing cause Jox shared his Gible set. Ok functioning team with Wallbreaker Budew, really cool poke. It's actually not weak, and smacks vullaby/croagunk/fight/shit that doesn't resist Leaf Storm really hard. Abra cause OP can't remember other reasons tbh, Staryu spins and baits ferroseed since no hp fire budew, Vull scarf abra switch in (when predictions doesn't kill me), Timmy kinda op and smacks Steel types for Budew. Gible, the lord, the saviour, mr INFAMY does... stuff. I don't fucking remember what because it's Jox spread, but it mainly there for pesky fire types. Also SR. Also it's not an Onix. I'm bored of Onix.

http://pokepast.es/778ab1c30f0e164b

Shoutout to SilentMango for accidentally donking me with Iron Defense Pawniard. Elekid/Diglett/Vull/Staryu here to bait and kill fighting types so Pawn can set up Iron Defense and SDs all day to just win. Bjuice might be a better option idfk. Replay proof that Iron Defense Pawniard is mvp as fuck:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7lc-606380366

http://pokepast.es/5425008afd4bc858

Yeah ehm waterspam.. For those who haven't seen my failure with this team: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7lc-584787481
It struggles with LO Gastly btw, Totodile is mainly there to SD up and donk shit like Pumpkaboo/Foongus/Mienfoo/Timburr after rocks. Mienfoo regen Eject button to trap shit with Diglett, was supposed to be like Snubbull at first but Mienfoo did better during testing. Team is ok on paper but ehm.. yeah.

http://pokepast.es/091d38d3f73eec54

Used this team to donkget shat on by blinkboy during Drew's Trigger Warning cup. He banned Diglett, so figured I'd bring Diglett-A as a joke. Team got some cool sets so figured it was worth sharing, get's shat on by Ground types tho and Hp Psychic Croagunk.

SETS

Fat Stella (Munchlax) (F) @ Eviolite

Careful Nature

Set up once ghosts are gone. Idfk never actually tried this but if someone wanna try then tell me if it worked.

RightHanded (Clauncher) (M) @ Eviolite

Level: 5
EVs: 116 HP / 12 Atk / 100 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Hardy Nature
- U-turn
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Aqua Jet

Yep, got the ability right. No boosts. Wasn't worth it point wise, lose 2 for 1 extra on a mixed defensive mixed attacking Clauncher that needed the speed to still outspeed Foongus and at least tie with Pump. Bulky pivot kinda like Chinchou without the Volt Absorb. Credits to Jox for cooking this up with me def 100% only my idea tho.

KinderSurprise (Ferroseed) (F) @ Life Orb

yeah no fuck your Croagunk Ferroseed aint gon be your set up fodder. Also Giga Drain and EVs to smack Mudbray.

Beyblade (Staryu) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Natural Cure
Level: 5
EVs: 76 Def / 196 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Blizzard
- Thunder
- Gravity

Yeah so Z Gravity gives +1 Sp.atk and Gravity means sick accuracy also HJK from Mienfoo scarf doesn't work so you won't be revenged by it nice combo. Someone used a set similar to this vs me once. Don't remember exactly who it was though.

Assplosion (Stunky) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Aftermath
Level: 5
EVs: 12 HP / 60 Def / 188 SpA / 248 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Spe
- Acid Spray
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb / Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Psychic] / Fire Blast

Hidden power whatever you want (Psychic for Croa), Fire Blast for Pawn / Ferroseed. Whatever switches in get's -2 Sp.def. Keep forcing switches and hazard damage or kill something that got -2 fucking sp.def.

Rebel (Mienfoo) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator

EVs: 196 Def / 36 SpD / 240 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Spe
- Calm Mind
- Baton Pass
- Hidden Power [Psychic]
- Aura Sphere

After small discussion in LC Discord chat the other day someone mentioned hp Psychic Foo for Croa Switch-ins, apparently this mon is a bad idea acording to certain users but I wanna try it. Loosely based on stuff I saw Rowan use in LCPL and Dundies donked me with several times.

NikkiMinaj (Smoochum) @ Life Orb

Level: 5
EVs: 236 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 HP / 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Blizzard
- Psychic
- Water Pulse / Hidden Power [Fighting]

Meant to be used under Hail (duuuh). Blizzard is a nice perk that Abra lacks, OHKOing Vullaby amongst others, and doing a shitton to Grimer-A. Psychic strong STAB ofc. Water Pulse idfk why lol and Aveil as a loast resort if u cant damage something, then let something else set up. It kinda cool imo.

Elvis (Timburr) (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Fist
Level: 5
EVs: 76 HP / 36 Atk / 156 Def / 236 SpD
Careful Nature
- Focus Punch

Fpunch+Mach kills Vull after rocks. Nuff said

Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick-or-Treat
- Shadow Ball
- Giga Drain
- Fire Blast

Yep. Grudge on Knock Off from Foo/Timburr or Shadow Ball / Sludge Bomb from +4 Croagunk. Then set up with... SOMETHING IMMUNE TO EVERYTHING ELSE. That's like the dream, Mienfoo, Timburr, Craogunk, some of the most threatening mons in the tier TURNED INTO SET UP FODDERS. Also works with shit like double dance Honedge > Pump but Pump is cool this gen. Also Gastly isn't completely useless when you can't set up Pump so is a cool combo imo.

GayPride (Spritzee) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Aroma Veil
Level: 5
EVs: 216 HP / 120 Def / 172 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 30 HP / 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpD / 2 Spe

Set up TR, toss people with either Sprit or Foon. Psychic can work > Hp ground/Fight but yk. Grimes. Pawniard. Also Foongus is sick as fuck not really but I love it.

I said I'd drop teams and here they are. In case you didn't see it in the bazaar I dropped 5 fuego teams and Drowzee webs is actually apparently 2-0 in open which is super rad. Go check that out cause those teams are just as fun as these and I'm not putting those here for now unless I get request to. Now for these new fuego teams that have never been shared before. This is my favorite part of pokemon. Messing around with friends and such a great community of LC and MDL in particular as I've grown as a player with those incredible people. Messing with fun pokemon is SO much fun and I enjoy it. I know I'm building up hype and s/o/emotional shit but these teams I find to be solid and utilize under used mons and are just SUPER fucking fun to play. Let's get it. I don't promise or say you will get any results with these teams but it is a lot of fun using the teams.

Dark Pussy
Saw tko's sick A-Meowth set and knew I needed to have some fun with it. Purrloin A-Meowth Core. A-Meowth gets rid of all of purrloin's answers bar fairy which the team struggles with (Honestly Treecko should be a foongus but treecko is SO cool and fun to use). Foo does Foo things, ame with Kabuto. Scarf zubat cause hell yea and I didn't want to use pikipek else I got bopped by croagunk so zubat is here.

Flower Power
Team started with the idea of Petilil baiting in flabaebae's counters. Dream Eater is a Rad little bait and unlike other mons nobody uses petilil so they never expect it. Ohkoes Croagunk, does like 80% to timb and foongus. Not a great mon but super fun. Voltorb is cute and I like mons that explode so it's here. Tentacool is fighting spam check and croagunk counter. Thief+Berry Juice is a severely underutilized combo just in general. Stabs are solid and theif steals items for flower #2. Mienfoo is Mienfoo, Onix is Onix but my dude FLABAEBAE. Scarf hits 21 speed bam. Covet for fighting types that knock it off bam. Endeavor for utility bam. Moonblast for spamming once you bait in ferroseed/croagunk/foongus and chip/kill them with petilil. Mon is actually really nice and 2hkoes the majority of stuff that doesn't resist.

Guerilla Goletts
Wanted to use Goletts and had a lot of super rad players so figured I'd give them an old mini plug(like this please I need the smogon views to feed my friend's cows). Golett is a rad Vullaby/Staryu bait and it hard counters non shadow ball croagunk. Koffing is the fighting spam check that doesn't get trapped by diglett and is a serious nuisance in battle. Jewced's Forest Adventure
Wanted to build around Shinx as it seemed like a super solid bird counter and look at how cute this man is. Shoutouts to an mdl og in jewced which is another reason I wanted to use shinx :D. As Jewced ventured through the forest he found bambi. He can be brought in on volt switches if you would like and bambi always wanted to fly but jetpack taxes are fucking insane. So man put a magic crystal on his chest and flew. Jewced also ran across this weird ass fox human thing with floaty tubes for arms who was pretty rad and is cool for volt turn teams so he joined. Then there was this annoying ass bat that wanted to join. So yk they let him join. Then they found an ancient statue that set up rocks and gave some prio/knocks so they added him to the squad. Finally they found an ancient beyblade and added him. And so goes the tale of Jewced the Shinx within the time frame I have to put all these teams.

OP is a great Mod
Wanted to build around squirtle+wynaut. Seemed fun so tried it out. Team's not bad. Scarf Squirtle. Water switch ins are all trapped by wynaut. Mienfoo is Mienfoo same with Pawniard. Set up on something which granted is hard but is pretty bulky so it'll take something yk. Another Ghost type that grimer-a can't counter which is pretty rad. Shiny Sandgast is also sick.

Band Nerds
Final team and my favorite team I've made in SM or ever as I'm a newer player. Passed this to my man 0NI for ssnl which is where you'd have seen it if you have. Team is based around speed pass+Double Belly Drummers. Torchic is insane rn. Fire+Grass Stab has always been bonkers to switch into. But this thing gaining speed too. Goodness. Lax Walls every special attacker not named nasty plot focus blast Croagunk. Coverage is all it needs. Chespin is adorable and another solid Belly Drummer. Pin missile cause the team doesn't like sash counter Abra trading with Munchlax. Archen for rocks, a stupid strong attacker and the best bird answer right now in my opinion. Sandshrew. This I just put here because it's adorable. If I were to change the team up I would make this a Timburr and put like rock slide or substitute over pin missile on Chespin however the team is old and I feel like sticking to the og is just idk. Just rad ig. Plus a-shrew is SOOO cute. Snubbull for Fighting Types/Bulking Up. Og pastebin will be top one, Edited With Timburr will be bottom one.

If you somehow made it through this all jeez huge props to you and thank you so much for taking the time out of your day. I really enjoy doing stuff like this and it did get a BIT long but hey. More teams here the merrier. I just enjoy building like this and honestly would REALLY enjoy a revamp of Infamy's hot and fresh spicy squadrons and if there is interest or w/e would be super rad. Anyways regardless here are like 10 teams. Have fun with them and hope you enjoy the teams! :D

Wanted to use Goletts and had a lot of super rad players so figured I'd give them an old mini plug(like this please I need the smogon views to feed my friend's cows). OP is a great Mod
Wanted to build around squirtle+wynaut. Seemed fun so tried it out. Team's not bad. Scarf Squirtle. Water switch ins are all trapped by wynaut. Mienfoo is Mienfoo same with Pawniard. Wanted to try Mixed Vull as well so yk added that. And Sandygast! Actually does nothing on this team... But Hey groundium ohkoes a shit ton of stuff.

I can confirm that at least half of these teams are somewhat usable and donked me too many times in "fun" games.

Go Go Golett Webs

Fun little webs squad here with some fun little sets. Double spinblocking ability with Golett and Pumpkaboo keeps webs on the field unless a vullaby comes out. Golett is a Rock Polish Sweeper that fires off STAB Earthquakes and strong Ice Punches and DYNAMIC Punches. Scarf Wingull is your only way of stopping a non scarf snivy, and other grass types. Mudbray breaks a lot of stuff with CB and outspeeds a lot with webs down with 236 speed EVs. Overall its a fun squad but loses to teams with lots of grass/ice/water coverage.

ok basically, it's some fun shit together in a same team. The team is built around DD Scraggy and Z-Bounce Hoppip. Basically, Hoppip lure and OHKOes Scraggy counters with Z-Bounce and eventually can set a Memento for Scrag. If you think the opponent will lead with Mienfoo, basically just lead with Hoppip and Z-Bounce it, most of the time Mienfoo will try to Knock Off you. But if you fear the U-Turn, just set the sun, it could allow you to outspeed and sleep powder a random mon, then try later the z-bounce. Some useful calcs :
236+ Atk Hoppip Bounce (160 BP) vs. 0 HP / 196 Def Eviolite Mienfoo: 24-30 (114.2 - 142.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
236+ Atk Hoppip Bounce vs. 0 HP / 156 Def Eviolite Timburr: 24-30 (100 - 125%) -- guaranteed OHKO
236+ Atk Hoppip Bounce vs. 124 HP / 160+ Def Eviolite Foongus: 24-30 (96 - 120%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Adamant Scarf Axew is a fun anti-lead : basically if you see Onix in the opponent team, just lead with Axew and click Aqua Tail. Congratulations :

220+ Atk Mold Breaker Axew Aqua Tail vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Onix: 20-24 (100 - 120%) -- guaranteed OHKO
And obviously, Mold Breaker destroys Sturdy. Also works for Surskit with Dual Chop and probably some others leads. Obviously, it's also a revenge killer and Outrage make it also a good cleaner. Fake Out Mienfoo is more classical and bring some solidity, and also deal some damages to set-up sweepers with repetitives fake outs. Grimer-A is a glue, nothing to say about it but it's mainly used for Abra and Spritzee. And finally, my team was very weak to NP Vullaby, so I thought "hey, i will use archen with a lot of spdef and sr" and it actually works.

+2 240+ SpA Vullaby Dark Pulse vs. 76 HP / 196 SpD Archen: 19-24 (82.6 - 104.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

the team looks like shit but in fact, i play for the fun with this and i'm actually around 1450-1500 despite of all these failures. It's """usable""" in ladder and as a surprise weapon, but I would not recommend to use this otherwise.

My trick room team. It would probably work better if there was some kind of trick room extender item.
Spritzee in particular can catch people by surprise.

Spritzee @ Eviolite

This slightly modified set allows Spritzee to set up trick room and try to sweep on its own. Moonblast hits fighting and dark types (which aren't exactly a rarity in LC right now); Psychic hits poison types not named Alolan-Grimer (and fighting types); HP Fighting annihilates pawniard, and does strong damage to the likes of onix, ferroseed and magnemite.

I call this the fuck diglett Elekid set

It's not too different from your standard Elekid set and idk if it has been done before so I could just be un-original as shit.

I almost brought this to the LC Open after realising my opponents fondness of Diglett to try and catch him off guard.

The main principle behind this set is trapping prevention, either predict the Diglett and click it in advance or if for whatever reason you are trapped it gives you a lifeline in case you win the speed tie and just rise up.

I tend to run it with Volt Switch to at least allow for momentum but tbolt works for power. The rest of the set is standard Kid.

Worked pretty well on mid ladder lol, I wouldn't use it seriously - here u go.

I've been playing SM LC for like 2 days and the team clearly has flaws - also due to the fact that it was built in 5 minutes - but whatever. Water Spam 'cause water is the best type, Pineco stacks hazards and spins - webs totally fuck up this team so be careful - Frillish spinblocks/cleans/breaks, Timbur does what Timbur does (including avoiding losing turn 1 to Pawniard), Cotton eases setup and is such a cool guy indeed, Shelly cleans the majority of the times 'cause dude if you don't clean with this kind of support I don't know what to tell you honestly, SD Corph is water & strong & should have stab knock off btw.

Fille inspired me to make a trick room team, so I went ahead and experimented with it.

also here's some spam teams i worked on months ago and have since let go.

Technically this team has 3 Darks and 2 Fights but dont mind that. The idea is to use Pawn / Snub / Staryu / Gunk to wear down the enemy team and then close off with Scraggy + Vull.

Just because Porygon is gone doesnt mean TR is completely dead. I mean Clam and Dew have eye watering damage coming off of their singular STABs. Ralts and Shuppet can set TR and cripple something before they pass, while Solosis (with it's Abra like SpA) and Inkay (with it's self reliance and item removal AND boosting ability) work as an OTR duo.

Pikipek and Taillow hit from both ends, they hate Steels and Onix. What are these two babies supposed to do?? That's right. Punch em down with the Triple Threat of Pawn/Scrag/Gunk. Technically the name has to do with the 3 cores of Bird / Fight / Dark however ironically i made a Spam Duo with 3 mons. Madness.

Oh yeah Staryu does what Staryu does. nbd.

I'm sure everyone's ive played regularly has fought this team and beat it with Magnemite. However this is the one i think is the most successful. a defensive Vull set gives me more oppurtinitues to switch and play out grinder games. Having Poisons makes it easier to deal with Fighting types since they cant beat over Trubbish which gives me time to toss some filthy Spikes down. Taillow getting Hurrimiss was a godsend so now we dont have to use Air Miss anymore however it's incompatable with Heat Wave :confounded: Oh well...

- Morning Sun

I thought Intimidate + WillOWisp could have been nice in the meta and went with a special spread and Burn Up 'cause I thought that there would have been no point in using the doggo if Ponyta or Snubbull could have just played a similar role and be better on other sides.
Morning Sun is for recovery and HP Grass for Staryu, Kabuto, Onix and stuff. 14 def is for taking physical hits well, 14 speed to outspeed slow Foo, the rest to reach 12 spdef and maximize spatt. I built a team around this and laddered before dropping it (I don't remember why, I actually reached 1600 with it). Growlithe worked fine as a physical check and got me some nice kills (also due to the fact that very few expected such a set).
The fun in using it is due to the fact that it can burn or shot a powerful Burn Up and get rid of its typing on the switch of a fire check. The downside is (ofc) that, ones the Burn Up has been fired, it becomes powerless against everything that is not weak to grass and doesn't fear burn. Funny fact is that Growlithe can get burned after burning up himself.
Here are some calcs:
200 SpA Growlithe Hidden Power Grass vs. 116 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Staryu: 10-12 (47.6 - 57.1%) -- 12.1% chance to 2HKO
116 SpA Staryu Scald vs. 0 HP / 36 SpD Eviolite Growlithe: 7-10 (31.8 - 45.4%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO (after losing fire type)
-1 236 Atk Onix Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 0 HP / 156+ Def Eviolite Growlithe: 10-30 (45.4 - 136.3%) -- approx. 6.3% chance to OHKO
-1 236 Atk Onix Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 156+ Def Eviolite Growlithe: 12-14 (54.5 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
200 SpA Growlithe Burn Up vs. 124 HP / 160 SpD Eviolite Foongus: 20-26 (80 - 104%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
