Arena: The Wasteland

In the abandoned wasteland, the sludge has also turned gaseous over the long period of time, resulting in a cloud of poisonous haze that floats over the sludge. This haze corrodes Steel-types after three actions and deals 1 DPA to all non-Poison Pokemon. In addition, this also counts as a "poisoned" status, but can stack with the likes of PoisonPowder, Toxic, or Toxic Spikes. Pokemon can dive in and out of the sludge, but this has a 30% chance to badly poison non-Poison users. The nature of the sludge, however, prevents non-Poison Pokemon from digging as well as they normally would; its base power is reduced to six (6) and the user will have a 30% chance to become badly poisoned due to the toxic sludge. Moreover, because Poison-type Pokemon are used to and are comfortable with the sludge conditions, Poison-typed Pokemon regain an addition six (6) HP each time they chill, a la Regenerator.

Lastly, the outdoors exposure in the wasteland has also affected the way weather affects the arena. When Rain Dance or Drizzle comes into effect, a field effect called "Acid Rain" is summoned instead of rain. This provides all the same benefits and detriments of regular rain, but it also deals an additional 1 DPA to non-Poison typed Pokemon. When Hail or Snow Warning comes into effect, a field effect called "Poisonous Sleet" is summoned instead of hail. Again, the field effect is identical to that of Hail, but it deals an additional 1 DPA to non-Poison typed Pokemon. Ice-typed Pokemon do not take the 2 DPA from hail but do take the 1 DPA from the poison. When Sandstorm or Sand Stream comes into effect, creating "Toxic Sands," the swirling makes the sludge choppier, reducing the Speed of all non-Poison Pokemon by 30%; in addition, the speed boost from Sand Rush is nullified. Moreover, all Pokemon who breathe will have a 50% chance at the end of each round to become badly poisoned from inhaling the toxic sand particles. Due to the rather translucent cloud of poisonous gas, Sunny Day or Drought will instead create a field effect called "Hazy Sunlight." Hazy Sunlight will alter the BAP changes of Fire and Water moves to +2 and -1, respectively.

Summary: Poisonous Haze that deals 1 DPA and corrodes Steel-types, Dig and Dive changes, chill benefits for Poison Pokemon, weather effects.

Now then, the toss of a coin will determine who will release first. Engineer Pikachu releases first in the case of Heads, whilst Son of Shadoo will release first if a Tails is flipped.

Tails!

Son of Shadoo releases his first Pokemon, giving an item and selecting an ability.
Engineer Pikachu releases his first Pokemon, giving an item and selecting an ability, and then orders.
Son of Shadoo orders.
REFEREE

I will kindly take ordering second at the expense of sending out first. Now then Engineer, let's see if you can light my battling passion again. This will no doubt be the toughest fight I ever have. Hijinks the Krilowatt, let's show him our shenanigans! You will be equipped with a Brightpowder, because I feel like being annoying. Magic Guard is equally annoying, so let's use that as our ability.

Engineer Pikachu

Good morning, you bastards!
is a Contributor Alumnus
Another Krilowatt? Shrimp don't fare too well in toxic wastelands, you know; they don't even taste good afterwards.

Youma, this matchup is yours. The HP difference is rather astounding, but it's nothing you can't handle!

Youma (M) @ Enigma Berry
Ability: Levitate

Our hand is pretty much forced here... Youma, you're going to have to take a bit of a thrashing no matter what, but it's the best we can do.

Youma: Taunt - Venoshock - Hex
IF (Protective / Evasive Action is successfully used) THEN (Double Team (1) and push actions back)
IF (Mirror Coat is used successfully) THEN (Use Knock Off, Body Slam, and Body Slam for the first, second, and third instances, respectively, pushing actions back)

There's a few things that might prove troublesome, but we've planned for that already, haven't we?

Gengar, eh? Not a choice I anticipated. Then again, as the only mon other than Crobat who outspeeds Hijinks, it makes sense. Of course, I should expect no less from the Gym Leader...

... And suddenly I see the "push actions back" in that sub. Off to a lovely start.

Discharge >>> Hydro Pump >>> Discharge
If Discharge successfully paralyses A1, use Volt Switch A3.

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I bring you another Gym match. However, this one has a badge at stake! Challenger Son of Shadoo has arrived and is raring to go, releasing a Krilowatt called Hijinks into this toxic dump, and coating it with some form of white powder. Don't worry folks, he's not giving it any form of drugs (That we know of), instead that's a sprinkling of some BrightPowder. Leader Engineer Pikachu doesn't look phased by this, passing his Gengar, who he calls Youma, an Enigma Berry. Those things are an expensive foreign import, so let's hope it's useful!

Battle Begin!

Youma begins the battle, jumping around Hijinks quickly, Taunting and mocking the shrimp until she's almost crying. As Youma jumps around, Hijink's tears turn to anger, as she Discharges some excess electricity into Youma, who gets knocked back by the blast.

: 79/90
: 125/95 ~ Taunted (5a)

Youma continues, using the poisonous haze in the arena alongside the catalyst Venoshock contains to make the form of a poisonous snake appear, chasing Hijinks and wrapping itself around her, before quite literally dissolving into her. She screams, and as she recovers, a blue aura surrounds her, before a Hydro Pump slams into Youma for Critical damage. Youma's now not looking so good himself - but he's making sure we don't see it.

: 61/83
: 106/88 ~ Taunted (4a)

Youma now keeps his distance from Hijinks, Hexing her, causing Hijinks to be surrounded in eyes, which release waves of energy, slashing into Hijinks. Hijinks doesn't even both screaming this time though, as she Discharges once again, bouncing around the arena.

I was about to complain about accuracy rolls, then I remembered that Engi's Gengar is Hasty (and why would you not use a speed boosting nature on Gengar, duh).

Initiating switch phase, switching out to The Wizard the Electivire, with his favourite toy: The Electirizer. His ability will be Vital Spirit.

Counterswitch?

Very well. Ugh, a well built Gengar is such a nasty Pokémon to deal with. Especially in the hands of a Gym Leader.

We take a quick break as Son of Shadoo elects to recall Hijinks, and sends out The Wizard, an Electivire holding a weird machine - a label on it identifies it as an Electirizer. Engineer Pikachu commands Youma to stay in, so we can begin!

The Wzard starts by conjuring a small Thunder Wave, but the electricity is knocked away by a Protecting Youma, and it quickly dissipates.

: 50/70
: 99/94

Youma now prepares to Split the Pain he's felt in the match, and an aura surrounds the active pokemon, and Youma laughs in glee. The Wizard eventually breaks free from the aura, tossing Youma around with Psychic blasts. However, that might not have been the best course of action, as Youma eats half of the Enigma Berry he's holding, and almost reverts all damage done.

: 66/48
: 74/87

Direct fire finally commences, as Youma uses a Venoshock to smite The wizard, but he casts a Thunderbolt right back. It seems as if this match is currently slanted in the leaders favour, but we can never be certain!

Didn't expect that to happen, but it works just fine.

Shokoli: Earth Power - Earth Power - Earthquake
IF (Protective / Evasive Action is used successfully) THEN (Light Screen, Tailwind, Earthquake the first, second, and third instances, and push actions back)
IF (Swagger is used) THEN (Taunt and push actions back, but only once)

A difficult situation, but we can deal with it. Wizard, this may hurt a lot. And unfortunately, Bide isn't an option.

Engineer Pikachu now shifts out Youma for Shokoli, his Fidgit, allowing the battle to continue!

The Wizard is first to move, performing a magic trick of levitation to the command of Magnet Rise! Shokoli responds with an Earth Power, blasting along the arena floor but still hitting The Wizard!

: 100/94

The Wizard now blasts Shokoli with an Earthquake, as Shokoli's second Earth Power strikes, nearly knocking The Wizard out.

: 81/84

The Wizard refuses to give up the attack, yet another Earthquake, as Shokoli's counteractive Earthquake merely slides under The Wizard. The Wizard is slowly dying to the arena though...

Son of Shadoo seems to be desperate, and it seems this will increase dramatically as Shokoli sets up a Tailwind, gusting across the arena, spinning the haze everywhere in the arena. The Wizard is making a last stand, and Critically scores what's probably his final Earthquake tonight.

: 39/68 ~ Tailwind (5a)
: 4/43 ~ Magnet Rise (2a)

Indeed, it seems as if Shokoli hates normal wind, and spins on the spot to generate a Twister, which blows The Wizard out of it's floating onto the floor, KOing him.
