Leader jas61292 vs Challenger waterwarrior!

Status
Not open for further replies.
Waterwarrior approaches the gym with a sense of confidence - his team is well prepared and could potentially beat the all-flying team of Jas61292. That is, until he the gym comes into a clearer view, as a bank of fogs leaves the area around the transport boat. A pure pillar of rock stretches unimaginably high into the sky, where the clouds surround it mysteriously. Faint sillouhettes of the gym leader's Pokemon can be seen flying freely around the pillar. Will Waterwarrior prevail today, or will Jas61292 keep his badge to himself today?

A few miles off the coast of land a large pillar sticks out of the ocean. It reaches up into the clouds, the top blocked from view when the sky is not clear. Atop the pillar lies a square battlefield, traditional in almost every sense. However, a few important differences set this place apart from your standard Pokemon arena.

First of all, the pillar itself is hollow and filled with water, that creates a pool at the fields center, giving combatants a water source other than the sea miles below. Secondly, the field itself is exceptionally thin, and as such all Pokemon who attempt to bury through it will plummet to their demise if they cannot keep themselves aloft. Finally, at each corner of the field are pillars with what appear to be nest-like structures at the top. These features allow sky based Pokemon to rest their wings more easily.

But what is even more important than the physical features of the arena are the natural effects of the location. Due to its location above the tropical seas and the directness of the sun's rays, hail turns to rain before it ever reaches the ground. Additionally, a lack of sand makes summoning a sandstorm impossible.

However, the most prominent feature of the gym is the wind. At this high altitude, strong winds are nearly a constant. The prevailing air currents bring big gusts in from the west on a regular basis, from right behind where the gym leader stands. This provides a constant effect similar to a Tailwind at one third of normal strength for the gym leader's Pokemon. In addition, the strong winds also amplify moves that use their effects, boosting their power and their accuracy as.

Summary:

  • No Sandstorm or Hail
  • The thin battle platform prevents Dig.
    • Well technically using Dig will just cause the digging Pokemon to plummet thousands of feet into the water below, putting them out of bounds and knocking them out of the battle.
    • Flying and Levitating Pokemon who won't fall can still use Dig, but it won't actually do anything.
    • Seriously though, this is the flying gym. Why would you be using Dig anyways?
    • All other attacks are allowed.
  • Energy Cost of Roost reduced by 1.
  • Permanent Tailwind-like effect on Gym Leaders side (provides 1.33x speed boost)
  • Wind Based attacks have their base accuracy increased by 10% up to a maximum of 100%
  • Wind Based attacks have base power increased by 2
  • Wind based moves include the following: Hurricane, Razor Wind, Gust, Twister, Air Slash, Ominous Wind, Silver Wind, Heat Wave, Icy Wind (There may be others that I am forgetting)
  • Changes to the accuracy of attacks due to the wind are factored in before any other effects, such as stage boosts to accuracy or evasion.
  • All effects, including the power boost to wind moves and the Tailwind effect, are arena effects, not weather effects, and thus can not be negated by Cloud Nine, Air Lock or other such effects.

And here is this battle's PEMDAS:
1.Waterwarrior sends out his two mons
2. Jas61292 sends out his two mons, and gives orders
3. Waterwarrior orders
4. I refereeing
5. Waterwarrior orders
6. yadda yadda

I'm ordering first, and I am stupidly Tomohawk-weak. Oh. Fuck. Guys, I'm beginning to think it was a waste coming here, but you'll give it all you got, won't you? (Please God, at least let us score 2 KO's...)

Mr. Freeze and Houdin, take the stage and give it all you got!

Ok, Hatchet will do well against this challenger, but first we need to remove that Alakazam. And I have just the mon for that job. Mamoswine might make things tough, but I have faith in these two.

Go get 'em Lafayette and BigPecks (Honchkrow and Swanna).

Honchkrow: Payback (Alakazam) - Night Slash (Alakazam) - Payback (Alakazam)
If Alakazam uses Counter, use Dark Pulse (Alakazam) that action instead
If Alakazam uses Bide action 1, use Detect action 3

Swanna: Scald (Mamoswine) - Brave Bird (Alakazam) - Scald (Mamoswine)
If Alakazam targets you with a Damaging Electric move, use Protect that action instead (takes precedence over the below)
If Mamoswine uses Protective move action 1 or 3, use Brave Bird (Alakazam) that action instead

PUSH PEOPLE, PUSH. NEVER GIVE UP. OTHER GENERIC INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES.

Houdin: Reflect -> Zap Cannon (Lafayette) -> Disable (Payback) (Lafayette)

Mr. Freeze: Light Screen -> Icicle Crash (Lafayette)-> Icicle Crash (Lafayette)

Oh I so hope this works... -gulp-

Waterwarrior has finally hiked up to the top of the pillar, heaving and exhausted, but he still has a gym battle to fight. He tosses out two Pokeballs, and the powerful pair of Houdin the Alakazam and Mr.Freeze the Mamoswine appear, ready to take on the gym leader.

Houdin, anticipating an an incoming attack sets up a shimmering Reflective barrier around himself and Mr.Freeze. The Mamoswine looks eagerly into the clouds, ready to use his ice-attacks against his foes, but they are still just incoherent sillouhettes. Suddenly, a blast of Scalding water clears the fog, and BigPecks the Swanna rushes out of the empty space onto the battlefielld. The water hits Mamoswine hard, and the big mammoth seems to already be nursing a burn. Still, he sets up a Light Screen to help buffer future attacks. The battle seems to have cleared for a moment, but then Lafayette the Honchkrow rushes out and pummels Houdin with a Payback attack, striking him critically right through the reflective barrier.

Though he is seething with anger on the inside, Houdin appears calm on the outside, and simply repays the attack with a mighty Zap Cannon to paralyze his foe. BigPecks retaliates with a full-bodied aerial Brave Bird attack, striking the Alakazam for heavy damage. Lafayette is forced to land temporarily as he recovers from the attack, which unfortunately brings him in range of Mr.Freeze's Icicle Crash. Still, he manages to whip out his wing and Slash Houdin with the power of the Night, and the psychic-type is hurt critically by the dark energies.

Houdin now reaches deep within his foes mind to Disable his ability to use the powerful dark-type Payback attack. BigPecks and Mr.Freeze continue to all-out attack, while Lafayette stalls with paralysis.

Oh, are. You. Kidding. Me. Fuck you RNG gods. Just fuck you.

Well gents, we are now officially that Tomohawk's whipping boy, but we can still try to get rid of his other mons, right?

Houdin: Zap Cannon (Lafayette) -> Zap Cannon (BigPecks) -> Focus Blast (Lafayette)
If Lafayette uses Sucker Punch on you, Recover and push back
If your target uses a P/E move, target the other Pokemon
If Lafayette faints, change A3 to Zap Cannon (BigPecks)

Mr. Freeze (who is now extra-crispy): Blizzard -> Icicle Crash (Lafayette)-> Blizzard
If Lafayette uses a P/E move A2, change that action to AncientPower (BigPecks) and push back
If Lafayette faints, change A2 to Icicle Crash (BigPecks)

Challenging this was an awful decision...

Mamoswine received 10% paralysis

Mamoswine's paralysis stage decreased to 5%

Welcome back to this epic clash between Gym Leader jas61292 and waterwarrior, as waterwarrior challenges for the badge! Our previous ref fell off the side of some boulders he was inspecting so you have to deal with a Dragon fetishist in his place. Let's get back to the action!

Lafayette look s to ready itself to receive any incoming attacks but before it can move it is stricken with paralysis! Looking to take advantage of this lapse, Houdin readies a sparkling ball of energy and hurls it at the vulnerable Honchkrow. However, it appears Houdin's aim was off and the Zap Cannon missed! Thoroughly pissed off from being burned, Mamoswine decides to take a more special look at things, and summons a frigid Blizzard from within its gullet, dealing some fair damage to BigPecks but missing Lafayette entirely! Lafayette lucked out in this round! BigPecks finally shows why it was biding its time, exploding forward with a devastating Brave Bird combo that knocks Houdin out of this match, first spoils to the Gym Leader!

Wary to its opponents wiles, Lafeyette this time successfully tenses itself in preparation to Endure any attack thrown at it. This proves to be a prudent measure as Mamoswine crashes as an icicle painfully into it while Swanna cools down, though not enough to severely trouble Honchkrow.

Recovered from its exhausting combo, Swanna spits some Scalding hot water at Mamoswine, that looked like it hurt! In response, Mamoswine summons another Blizzard from its maw, critically striking Swanna as well as leaving Honchkrow on its last legs. Tired of feeling so slow Honchkrow channels its mental power and Psycho Shifts its paralysis onto Mamoswine, leaving it in a weakened state for thr next round.

The challenger is in a tough spot, down a Pokemon and forced to battle from behind. What will happen next? Find out next time on the POkemon Gym Leader Channel!

And we return to the action with a hard hitting first round underway! Knowing its demise is nigh, Honchkrow rockets of of the gate with a brutal Superpowered Quick Attack that hits Mamoswine hard, before the pig vents its anger with an Ice Shard that seals Honchkrow's coffin. Taking advantage of Mamoswine's weakened state, Swanna fires off a Brine, the salty water seeping inside of Mamoswine's wounds for additional damage, finally cause the mammoth to pass out at its knees. Knowing it could do nothing to save its friend, Swampert grimly sets up a Light Screen to ward off future specially based attacks. The following rounds involve set up for future attacks, as Swanna spits some Toxic sludge at Swapemrt in exchange for being hit by sharp Edged Stones, and Swampert using its slimy Coat of skin as a Mirror to reflect back Swanna's Scald.

Well, I consider Tomohawk my trump card here, but I still have one more mon to play with, and I'd like to see some other guys get some experience for once. But... nah, lets just finish this up.

Tomohawk: Aura Sphere (Weavile) - Aura Sphere (Weavile) - Aura Sphere (Weavile)
If Weavile uses Protective move and you are not taunted and you do not already have a substitute, use Substitute 25 HP, but not on consecutive actions.
If you are Tormented, use Focus Blast (Weavile)action 2 instead.

Swanna: Toxic (Swampert) - Steel Wing (Weavile) - Steel Wing (Weavile)
If Swampert uses a Protective move action 1, switch actions 1 and 2.
If Weavile uses a Protective move action 2 or 3, use Brave Bird (Swampert) that action

That's not very nice at all ;~;

And Texas, I would love to attach an item... but of course jas over there said no. Meanie mean face >.>

Kippy: Stone Edge Swanna -> Scald Tomo -> Scald Tomo
If Stone Edge misses A1, try it again A2

Dovahkiin: Ice Punch Swanna -> Fake Out Tomo -> Substitute (15 HP)

gg Jas, and next time I challenge (if there is a next time), it won't be so one-sided!

There's a hurricane. You get a summary over flavour.

Swanna tries to Toxic Swampert against but fails. Weavile gets hit hard by an Aura Sphere but the combined efforts of Weavile and Pert take Swanna down. Weavile and Swampert then turn on Tomohawk, flinching it and dealing hefty damage. Swampert continues the assault while Weavile safeguards against an incoming Aura Sphere.
