Moves
========
•Swords Dance is the first listed move, as it boosts Leafeons already great 110 Atk Stat to frightening levels. Backed by Life Orb Leafeons high base powered attacks does huge damage to any pokemon who doesnt resist it.

•Leaf Blade is the best physical grass stab in the game and leafeon has access to it. The increased crit chance can also be handy in some situations.

•Knock Off is the coverage move if choice, it gives neutral damage to most of the grass resists in the tier. Its secondary effect can also be very handy in crippling opponents. On the other hand, double edge is its strongest coverage move, while losing its ability to hurt steels, it hitting opposing grasses and poisons the hardest.

•Last move is depending on your team. If you have a teammate that can benefit from an sd boost and leafeon is almost dead, baton pass can help keep up the sweep by handing over a +2 boost to a healthy teammate. However if using double edge, Synthesis is recommended, as life orb and recoil put a wear on Leafeon's already low hp stat. Synthesis also gets a boost in sun, nearly restoring all of Leafeon's hp.

Set Details
========

•Evs are straight forward, maximizing Leafeon's attack and speed, 4 in defense so its hp isnt divisible by 8.

•Life orb is the item of choice, maximizing Leafeon's overall power. However if using Double-Edge, Meadow Plate is an interesting option, as it allows Leafeon to still have a strong Leaf Blafe STAB while reducing overall recoil.

•Nature depends on team support, jolly is recommended as it speed ties with jynx and primeape, while outspeeding everything below it. Adamant is recommended with sun support, because leafeon already has all the speed it could ever want while under it.

•Do not use leaf guard, its a failed version of hydration.
Usage Tips

========

•This leafeon is best used as a tank, setting up on most physical attackers and hitting back extremely hard. Baton pass can be used early in game as a scouting move. Leafeon also functions as a late game sweeper, easily sweepers after its checks/counters are removed.

Team Options
========
•Flying Types: Leafeon has a fairly easy time dealing with bulky rock/waters, and a select few steels, so a flying partner that can clean up after they are removed makes a nice teammate. Swellow in particular can remove the grasses that leafeon hates, can benefit from the swords dance boost and can clean up after rocks/steels are removed.

•Sun Setters: Sun Setters like Uxie or Regirock both support leafeon by crippling faster opponents and setting up stealth rocks. Uxie can provide a safe switch-in with U-turn while Regirock provides nice defensive synergy and can explode for leafeon to come in safely.

•Physical attackers: Leafeon has the potential to pass off swords dance boosts, so having physical attackers like Sawk or physical Mesprit to assist in further breaking down physical walls can really be beneficial.

Moves
========
•Synthesis is the first move, giving leafeon instant recovery which lets it wall numerous physical threats including Feraligatr, Sawk and Golurk.
•Leaf Blade is his STAB of choice, letting him check gatr and take out multiple fightings after a few defence drops.

•Baton Pass acts as a pivoting move, as most of Leafeon's switchins are slower than him, he can baton pass out to gain momentum and prevent double switches.

•Roar is preferred in the last slot, preventing becoming setup fodder to pokemon with a boosting move like gurdurr. Heal bell on the other hand is also viable, as it lets leafeon act as one of the few clerics in the tier who doesnt lose momentum in a battle. Heal bell works if your team has many pokes status prone, such as regirock or walrein.

Set Details
========
•EVs are easy, max physical bulk to take physical hits as much as possible, dump the rest in attack. 248 to keep hp number not divisible by 8.

•Leftovers is the item for any wall, giving passive recovery.
Usage Tips

========

•This leafeon functions as a physical wall and pivot, forcing out most water and ground types who are weak to grass, and taking advantage of his raw physical bulk to wall the fighting types.

•This leafeon loves hazard support, especially roar variants, this also acts like a glue for teams who needs a switchin to sawk or feraligatr, 2 of the tiers biggest physical threats.

Team Options
========
•Rock Types: Leafeon has great synergy with rock types, taking on the waters and walling grass they hate so much. Regirock is an ideal member, as he resists most of Leafeon's weaknesses and has decent special bulk and access to stealth rock to patch up his low special bulk. Probopass also makes a decent teammate, with his access to sr and volt switch creating a pseudo voltturn core.

•Hazard support: Leafeon loves hazards, due to his ability to shuffle teams around between forced switches and roar, spikes and stealth rock support is ideal. Omastar and Garbodor have nice synergy with Leafeon, Garbodor takes poison moves aimed at Leafeon from pokemon like plume as setup on them, while Omastar's 4x resistance to fire and nice defense letting it take on flying types give it opportunities to setup spikes or sr.

•Special Fire Types: Leafeon is a physical pokemon, so it only makes sense for it to have special attacking teammates. Fire type pokemon like typhlosion or pyroar appreciate Leafeons ability to handle the ground/water types that give them trouble, while Leafeon appreciates their ability to take out physically bulky walls and steel types in general.

•Electric Types: Electrics have nice offensive synergy with Leafeon, they have easy time removing flying types that plague Leafeon while Leafeon can tank every EQ in the tier and can cover the poor physical bulk most electrics tend to have. Rotom-fan and Electabuzz make nice teammates, as they can also create a pseudo voltturn core with leafeon while eliminating most flying types with their high speed.

•Grounded Poisons: Leafeon is deathly afraid of toxic spikes, so packing a grounded poison is recommended to help clear out these threats. Muk in particular can use his good special bulk to absorb special attacks aimed at leafeon, while in return use his coverage to get rid of threats to leafeon.

Other Options
########
•Wish pass leafeon deserves a mention, although its 65 base hp means even teammates that receive them don't get much out of it.

•Quick attack is a priority move in Leafeon's arsenal, but its low base power and the fact its not boosted by STAB or ability makes it not worth it in most situations.

•Yawn/Baton Pass is an interesting combo can create switch in or setup opportunities for boosting sweepers.

•Running 56 speed evs to outrun neutral base 70's like ludicolo or samurott isn't a bad idea in theory, it lets him baton pass or hit with a leaf blade before dying to an ice beam.

Checks & Counters
########
•Flying Types: Physically bulky flyings like Pelipper or Rotom-fan give Leafeon a run for it's money. Taking nothing from leaf blade or its coverage moves, they can easily eliminate Leafeon with 1 simple air slash. Frail flyings like Archeops or swallow cannot switch into Leafeon directly, but they can easily check with their respective STAB acrobatics or brave bird.

•Fire/Poison Types: Grass is a type with many weaknesses and it doesn't hit many things SE either, most poisons and fires can easily tank a leaf blade or 2 and scare out Leafeon with their strong stab moves. Poisons like Vileplume or Weezing and fires like Torkoal or Rapidash can easily come in on a grass move and scare him away.

•Special Attacks: having a special wall or tank paired with Leafeon is ideal, as it suffers even from random special attacks or anything that carries ice beam.

There's only supposed to be one Other Options section and one Checks and Counters section down at the bottom. For a formatting reference, look at this example.

Moves -
- I don't know, but for the first set, X-Scissor seems like a better option than Double Edge. It does more damage to Grass-types and Leafeon has no business staying in on any Poison-types anyway. Plus, with Life Orb Recoil and the attacks that Leafeon is going to take due to its mediocre Speed, you can't take much damage to begin with.

Usage Tips -
- For the first set, why would someone run Jolly or Adamant over one another? What does Jolly help it outspeed? What does Adamant help it KO?

Team Options -
- Steel-types all the way. Leafeon lures in Vileplume. On the switch, you Swords Dance. You then pass it to Klinklang, which is immune to the impending Sludge Bomb. Substitute, Shift Gear, wreck.

Other Options -
- I'm not sure that an analysis is a good place to advertise for another Pokemon, in this case Sawsbuck. Perhaps rephrase that to outline that a fully physical offensive set it outclassed by Sawsbuck.
- Mention Toxic somewhere in OO, as it works well with a wall Pokemon.

Checks and Counters -
- Mention that, for the second set especially but for the first set as well, that certain utility moves mess it up. Taunt and Encore specifically do this, as one core is dependent on Swords Dance and the other is mono-attacking, and it sure don't love being locked into that.

I'm not QC, so take this all as you will.

252+ Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Sawk Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Leafeon: 187-222 (55.9 - 66.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Outsped and 2HKOed. You'll need something better than that, and if you need a physically defensive Grass-type pivot for him, Tangela is there. There's tons of grassers in NU and you really want to set a niche for yourself, but switching into Sawk is not it. Also I'm not quite sure if Baton Pass on a fully defensive set is really worth it?

LO Double-Edge really eats into Leafeon's bulk and that's pretty bad. I also think Knock Off is a broken move and you should always use it as the second offensive move, no matter what. It helps more against Grass-types and Poison-types anyways because you get to wear them down. Knock off, bp, and the bulk is enough utility to set him apart from sawsbuck.

would be the slashing i'd do probably, but probably I'd wait until a real QC comes along. If Return / Double-Edge becomes part of the set it should be probably slashed in at the final moveslot with very low priority over X-Scissor, probably. 4 moves slashed on a single slot is downright ugly anyways. If X-Scissor does end up being relegated to OO, emphasize that you outspeed and OHKO Lilligant, and you beat Tangela 1v1 because Knock Off removes Eviolite and +2 X-Scissor has a chance to OHKO Eviolite-less Tangela straight up just after SR.

Also, Leafeon is not slow. With Jolly, you'd only get outrun by 100+ base speed mons and scarfers.

I think Amarillo's suggested SD set is good, dunno about X-Scissor since SD + 3 attacks dies pretty quickly without the supporting ability of BP, but his set is a good outline.

Also I think the old bulky SubSD + BP set from last gen might still be worth looking into (I haven't used it much but I think Ras did iirc?) It's seems pretty decent since it's more reliable at Baton Passing boosts with bulk investment and Lefties, despite being more passive.

Also echoing doubts on the defensive set--it seems pretty bad because Tangela or even Vileplume are pretty much better in 95% of scenarios and it's so passive compared to its offensive sets. Kinda inclined to reject it if no one objects

If you are I'd also like you to justify the use of the defensive set, otherwise I'll be rejecting it
