Overview
########

Leavanny has not only access to Sticky Web, which provides helpful speed control, but also advantages over the other Sticky Web users in the PU tier. Despite Leavanny's average attacking stats, it still has some offensive presence, something other Sticky Web users such as Kricketune lack. Leavanny's base 92 Speed gives it a decent Speed tier, allowing Leavanny to outspeed many Taunt users, and Magic Coat can reflect faster Taunts as well as other entry hazards. However, Leavanny's defenses and defensive typing leave much to be desired, and prevent it from having a role other than being a Sticky Web suicide lead.

Suicide Lead

name: Suicide Lead
move 1: Sticky Web
move 2: Leaf Storm
move 3: Knock Off
move 4: Magic Coat
ability: Overcoat
item: Focus Sash
evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Naive

Moves
========

Sticky Web provides speed control, giving Leavanny its niche. Leaf Storm can hit common physically bulky leads such as Barbaracle and Golem hard, though they might be holding a Focus Sash; the Special Attack drop is insignificant due to Leavanny's short lifespan. Knock Off removes the target's item and is a more spammable move that can target Eviolite users such as Tangela and Misdreavus. Magic Coat is used to reflect back Taunt and entry hazards from opposing leads.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs and a Naive nature maximize Leavanny's Speed and 252 Special Attack EVs boost the power of Leaf Storm. A Focus Sash makes sure that Leavanny will live a hit and set up Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

Almost always lead with Leavanny, though it is not necessary to do so if the opponent's team has ways of removing entry hazards, because Leavanny's good Speed means it can still find openings later on in the game to set up Sticky Web. Usually, Leavanny should set up Sticky Web first and then attack or use Magic Coat, although you should use Magic Coat to reflect Taunt from faster Taunt users such as Sneasel or against slower leads that cannot bring you down to your Focus Sash such as Kriketune. It is also a good idea to use Magic Coat if you have Sticky Web up and your opponent has not yet set up entry hazards. Use Knock Off against Golem before using Leaf Storm, as Golem will live it beforehand, and you can avoid losing to Sturdy Weakness Policy Golem. Be especially careful of using Magic Coat on Golem and Piloswine, as they can both KO Leavanny turn one, and as a result prevent it from setting up Sticky Web. After setting up Sticky Web, don't be afraid to fodder Leavanny by spamming Magic Coat to prevent hazards from going up on your side. Finally, Leavanny should repeatedly use Sticky Web against Defoggers such as Swanna, because it guarantees that Sticky Web will be up.
Team Options
========

Leavanny works best with teammates that are slow but can hit hard, such as Flareon, Aurorus, Marowak, and Bouffalant. Spinblockers, such as Haunter and Misdreavus, can stop opposing Rapid Spin users from removing Sticky Web. Pokemon with the ability Defiant or Competitive, such as Purugly and Wigglytuff respectively, can discourage the use of Defog, as it would boost their stats, and the latter can use Stealth Rock to provide more team support. Leavanny only should be used on offensive teams, as they can pressure the opposing team more with the help of Sticky Web's speed control, and they make it harder for the foes to find an opening to remove Sticky Web. Offensive entry hazard setters such as Rampardos and Marowak can use Stealth Rock to gain crucial chip damage and add even more pressure to your opponent. A fast safety net such as Choice Scarf Rotom-F or Tauros can be used as insurance for if Sticky Web is removed or your opponent has Flying-types or Levitating Pokemon, which are immune to Sticky Web.

Other Options
########

Leaf Blade is more reliable than Leaf Storm, as it does not come with stat drops or imperfect accuracy, but Leaf Storm hits almost all leads harder. Swords Dance on sun teams with Chlorophyll is possible, but it is still very hard for Leavanny to sweep, and this role is filled more reliably by Victreebel. Grass Whistle is an option to put opposing leads to sleep, but its accuracy is too unreliable. Bug Buzz is also an option to target Tangela and Leafeon. A Baton Pass set with Swords Dance can be used but is not recommended due to Leavanny's frailty and bad defensive typing.

Checks & Counters
########

**Defog Users**: Swanna can KO Leavanny with its Flying-type STAB moves and use Defog to remove Sticky Web, and more defensive Defoggers such as Prinplup, Pelipper, and Togetic also can find openings to Defog against Leavanny.

**Rapid Spin Users**: Wartortle and Avalugg can use Rapid Spin to remove Sticky Web, although the latter can be stopped by spinblockers.

**Non-Grounded Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Scyther, Dodrio, and Swanna are unaffected by Sticky Web, meaning they usually have higher Speed than much of Leavanny's team, and can inflict heavy damage.

**Setup Sweepers**: Bulky setup sweepers such as Bouffalant and Fraxure that do not mind Leaf Storm can set up on Leavanny.

**Purugly**: Purugly can Fake Out to stop Leavanny setting Sticky Web, and can otherwise take advantage of Sticky Web to get a +2 Attack boost from Defiant.

this is just a wip but there are a few things i feel like i should mention.

-mention its niches over kricketune in the overview, mainly its ability to outspeed most taunt users
-knock off should definitely be the main slash, i don't think x-scissor is even worth slashing honestly, knock off is just better. similarly make overcoat the main ability.
-why is cryogonal mentioned ?_?
-honestly there's no reason to use spin support with leavanny, especially since the only spinners in pu are huge momentum sucks on webs offense, so i really wouldn't recommend them as partners at all.
-masquerain and defog mantine are awful and irrelevant, mention other hazard removers such as swanna and prinplup instead
-misdreavus should be mentioned as a spinblocker in team options

lol was thinking about NU for a second and thought of Cryogonal >.<
Fixed the rest though.

  • Seismitoad is not PU, replace with Barbaracle and/or Marowak. Notice that Barbaracle and Golem often carry sash
  • Mention that Magic Coat should only be used ONLY against faster Taunt users(Serperior and Sneasel), AND if you know they have taunt which isnt a common occurrence and against slower hazard leads that cannot OHKO you through your sash (like Piloswine and Golem) or have priority to pick u off once sash is broken (Piloswine again, the occasional monferno, Glalie). Basically Sticky Web is the only priority.
  • Mention Knock Off targets like Misdreavus and eviolite users like Roselia and Tangela.
  • Usage tips should include mostly what i said above and should focus on the fact that Sticky Web is the main priority ever (bar against stall i guess) and everything else levanny can do is secondary (ex. not risking the kill with Leaf Storm against golem because missing can prevent Webs from going up)
  • Also mention to spam sticky web against defogger as you can keep sticky web up in a 1v1 matchup vs swanna bar confusion hax
  • Mention stuff that works well with Sticky Web. I suggest you to copy take most of this section from Kricketune's analysis ==> http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/kricketune-qc-3-3-gp-2-2.3522279/
  • ABSOLUTELY REMOVE DUSKNOIR THAT PIECE OF DEFOG BAIT
  • OO should include Bug Buzz to fuck with Leafeon and Tangela, as well as Baton Pass sets which you should ill advise.
  • Take inspiration for C&C from Kricketune analysis, removing the Taunt part. Defoggers you already put should obviously stay.
Do this and like the post/tag me once you are done

when facing a golem, don't grass move before you knock off so you don't get fucked over by sturdy wp

You should note why Leaf Storm is used over Leaf Blade, which is basically hitting most Grass-weak targets, such as Piloswine, Marowak, and Poliwrath, much harder (I know why you explained why Leaf Blade isn't used in OO, but more emphasis should be placed on Leaf Storm in the Moves section). Leaf Storm is also marginally stronger than Leaf Blade against targets with equal defenses, and the power drop is insignificant to Leavanny due to its short lifespan.

In Usage Tips, you don't have to use Leavanny as a lead, especially if Defoggers are present. It is definitely recommended, but Leavanny's good speed means it can find openings to Sticky Web safely against more opponents later even if Sash is broken, unlike Kricketune.

This is the only thing that needs work really. Firstly you can merge the 1st and 8th point. Also, currently it is quiet ambiguous what leavanny should do from reading this, weather to set up webs or magic coat first, or to magic coat or attack second, can you re do parts of this so it is clearer what to do.
Other nitpicks:
'or against slower leads that cannot bring you down to your Focus Sash such as Piloswine' Piloswine KO's with Icicle Spear and Ice shard, change the example
Mention that Leavanny has to be careful about magic coating golem and piloswine, as they can both ohko it turn 1, meaning leavanny sticky web will not be up.

blinkie Looks better but there are still some thins that need changing.
In UT
'Also use Magic Coat against leads with priority to pick off Leavanny, like Piloswine and Glalie, however Sticky Web is your only priority' - Remove that line, as you have mentioned piloswine later, also glalie is nu and lead sets didnt run ice shard.

'Be careful of using Magic Coat on Golem and Piloswine, as they can both make sure you do not set up Sticky Web with Rock Blast or Ice Shard' - Piloswine will use icicle spear, and change the wording so it sounds similar to 'they can knock you out turn one'.

'Sticky Web is almost always set up first, for example do not risk Leaf Storm against Golem because missing will prevent the setting of Sticky Web' - This doesnt really add much of what hasnt been said, and either way golem will live on sturdy, so remove this.
Also the knock off before leaf storm on Golem should be mentioned somewhere.

'Set up Sticky Web first and then attack or use Magic Coat' - This isnt always correct, like what you had earlier about magic coating hazard setters that cant ko you

Anty ok thanks for giving me some suggestions. the Usage Tips was pretty messed up before, now after implementing changes is a lot more concise.

i wouldn't say magic coat is for taunt users, as the only ones faster than leavanny rarely run it making it unsafe to magic coat against them. instead, mention that it should be used if leavanny is out against a stealth rock setter that has not set it up yet and webs are already up.

remove serperior mentions

when you mention wigglytuff, also mention that it gets sr

mention purugly in c&c, not only can it prevent you from getting sticky web up because of fake out but it can also take advantage of sticky web later in the game because of defiant.

otherwise this looks good. qc 3/3, solid work.

At above and writer: a lot of the time people are using the word speed basically as a trait. That said, the trait speed springs directly from the stat Speed and therefore it's just better to write Speed.
Comments:

I don't really like justifying one move (leaf storm) over a move that's in oo (leaf blade). But by saying 'physically bulky" leads, you can subtly explain why leaf storm is important, without mentioning leaf blade.

If you want to include that Naive is important for physical bulk, i guess you can do that, though don't say it boosts as that is untrue.

**Rapid Spinners Either "Spinners" or "Rapid Spin Users" is ok here. In a title, Spinners is capitalized but throughout the analysis it is otherwise uncapitalized **: Wartortle and Avalugg can use Rapid Spin to remove Sticky Web, although the latter can be stopped by spinblockers.

**Purugly**: Purugly can Fake Out to stop the Leavanny setting of Sticky Web, and can otherwise take advantage of Sticky Web to get a +2 Attack boost from Defiant.

Weebl speed control isn't capitalized btw :oo
