[OVERVIEW]

Ledian is totally outclassed and cannot merit a slot on any serious team, as Meowstic and Ninjask do everything that Ledian can better defensively and offensively, respectively. It has terrible offensive stats, which nullifies its large offensive movepool, and a shallow support movepool, along with poor defenses and a 4x weakness to Stealth Rock, making it absolutely worthless on any team.

[SET]
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Reflect
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Encore
move 4: U-turn
item: Light Clay
ability: Early Bird
nature: Jolly
evs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dual screens are all Ledian can do to support its team and at least give other, better Pokemon an easier time setting up. Encore can give Ledian a free opportunity to set up dual screens without it having to take a hit with its poor defenses, and U-turn can be used to pivot into other Pokemon that can take advantage of the screen support, as well as get some small chip damage on foes.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature allow Ledian to outspeed and set up dual screens on as many foes as possible before being KOed. Near-maximum HP investment helps bolster its poor bulk and lets it survive some neutral hits with a screen set up, although the investment is slightly lowered to take less damage from Stealth Rock. Light Clay extends the duration of Reflect and Light Screen, giving Ledian's teammates a longer opportunity to use them. Early Bird is the preferred ability, as it can help Ledian set up screens on Sleep Powder Roselia and Tangela; besides, Ledian's offenses are too poor to use Iron Fist or Swarm well.

Usage Tips
========

Use Ledian only in a support role. Setting up screens should be the priority over attacking with U-turn, and once Ledian has set up screens, it can be used as death fodder to get a free switch to a teammate to take advantage of the screens. Encore can be used to lock foes into status moves so Ledian can more easily set up screens. U-turn should only be used when Ledian has already successfully set up both Light Screen and Reflect to switch a teammate in to use them.

Team Options
========

Frail setup sweepers such as Simipour and Linoone can use Ledian's screens and Encore support to more safely set up. Entry hazard removers such as Vibrava and Armaldo are needed to remove Stealth Rock for Ledian to stay at high enough HP to set up screens, as it can otherwise only survive the weakest of attacks. Pokemon that can check opposing Rock-, Ice-, Fire-, Flying-, or Electric-types, such as Leafeon, Grumpig, and Raichu, respectively, can be used to threaten Ledian's checks and counters, although sacrificing Ledian for the free switch in is normally more useful.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Ledian has a large offensive movepool and access to many boosting moves such as Agility and Swords Dance, but offensive sets are totally outclassed by Ninjask thanks to Ledian's awful offenses. Ledian can also try to pass Swords Dance or Agility boosts with Baton Pass, but it is still outclassed by Ninjask in this role. Knock Off can be run over U-turn to cripple foes, but Ledian will spend most turns setting up dual screens and then being KOed anyway.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon**: All offensive Pokemon in the metagame are capable of 2HKOing Ledian at worst, with most outright OHKOing it, making it almost impossible for Ledian to set up screens on the large number of faster Pokemon in the metagame, such as Ursaring and Simipour. Infiltrator Jumpluff and Ninjask are capable of OHKOing it while ignoring Reflect.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock guarantees that all offensive Pokemon are capable of KOing Ledian with half of its health gone, as well as making it easy for even the weakest defensive Pokemon to 2HKO it even with a Reflect or Light Screen up.

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Floatzel and Misdreavus are capable of completely shutting down Ledian, forcing it to simply use U-turn for little damage, although all Taunt users aside from Grumpig are capable of easily KOing Ledian anyway.

Say why other mons do its job better in the overview as well as why ledian is bad

this isnt too relevant but golduck is not a frail sweeper

give exampls of faster pokemon

1/3

For once taunt is relevant so include in c&c
  • Pokemon that can handle Rock-, Ice-, Fire-, Flying, and Electric-types such as Gourgeist, Rapidash and Stunfisk, can be used to check Pokemon that threaten Ledian with super effective moves, but Ledian will be 2HKOd by most attackers regardless and iswitch valuable as death fodder for the free switch
Replace this with mentions of offensive and setup Pokemon who can take SE hits aimed at ledian like a NP Raichu for electric attacks or a machoke for Rock moves idk. No mentions of defensive mons pls

Remove roost from OO and add Knock off if no illegalities
2/3

I don't have to take this. I'm going for a walk.

Make a mention of Infiltrator Jumpluff under Faster Pokemon as it bypasses screens and OHKOes Ledian with Acrobatics. Other than that looks good.

Uh. I can't implement the check rn anyway but I'm gonna have to use the full one unless p squared edits his check to include the am one?
Oh and to answer that comment it's getting an analysis because we have to give all FEs in the tier one, not because it should ever be used
