Arena:
Deep within the wild forests near Eterna City, strange things can happen. And I’m not referring to Rotom, though it is pretty strange. In a hidden glade inaccessible by most (it involves completing all of the Professor Layton games and Cat Mario in four hours with no internet access or hints , after you have used Judgment, Dark Void, Crush Grip, Seed Flare, Blue Flare, Bolt Strike, and Metal Burst on the grassy rock in a randomly predetermined order. This is especially difficult because Metal Burst requires the rock to hit your Bastiodon first, which requires a long time coaxing it into wakefulness with Junior Mints) resides the wizened old wizard Olofethe. Olofethe has been studying for an indeterminate amount of time, somewhere between fifty and five hundred years, in this timeless clearing, attempting to perfect the fabled essence transition process between Pokemon.
Fortunately, Olofethe has also built a helipad in his downtime, which means you, battlers, can come and test the essence transition process. It involves duplicating and transferring portions of your Pokemon’s “essence” to another Pokemon, so that the recipient becomes slightly more like the donor.
For the upcoming battle, Olofethe will use his essence transisting powers on each and every one of your Pokemon, mismatching their essences among them at both battler’s commands. Each Pokemon will receive another Pokemon’s essence for the entire battle, and each Pokemon’s essence may only be used once.
The recipient of an essence receives two of four possibly benefits:
-Four moves from the Pokemon’s movepool (only the moves the donor has purchased)
-One typing of the recepient’s choice. If the recipient is mono-type, they will become duo-type. If it is duo-type, state what type will be replaced.
-One ability of the recipient’s choice. If the recipient is Basculin, choose one ability to replace, otherwise, just add it on. If the Dream World ability is unlocked, it cannot be chosen.
-One stat of the recipient’s choice. This will replace the current stat, and can be HP or Speed.
Decide this all as the mons are sent out, and Olofethe will wave his decidedly unmagical stick around, then do some majorly difficult mathematical calculations, throw rocks at both Pokemon (beware scyther!), and then suddenly everyone has a Pokemon and a half where they previously just had one!
Example:
Leethoof: Go Vanguard @ Focus Sash! You’ll be taking on the essence of that conveniently placed Drifblim for this match against six fighting types without foresight! Vanguard will become a Rock/Ghost, and take Drifblim’s 125 HP for this battle!
Other non-Leethoof battler: Oh my poor Machamp@Black Belt! I’m so depressed that I will take Gallade’s essence, with its Psychic-typing, and learn Return, Frustration, Drain Punch, and Fire Punch!
I got some guys i want to train, I'm in!

Team Leethoof

Vullaby (Jambalaya) (F)
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)

Type: Dark/Flying
Dark: Dark STAB; immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Big Pecks: (Innate) This Pokemon's sturdy wings prevent its defense from being lowered. The rate its natural defense drops after a boost is also halved from one every round to once every two (2) rounds.
Overcoat: (Innate) This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).
Weak Armor (DW Locked): (Can be Enabled) The Pokemon can loosen its worn defensive armor so that it will break off when an opponent uses a contact attack, reducing the Pokemon's Defense and increasing their Speed by one (1) stage for each hit.

Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Forewarn: (Innate) This Pokemon has the ability to sense the opponents super-effective, OHKO, and explosive attacks, and has a percentage (%) chance to evade equal to one (1) plus (+) double (x2) the move's base attack power. Synchronize: (Innate) Pokemon with this ability mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and pass on any status inflicted on them to their foe. Due to their body structure, Poison-types cannot be poisoned and Fire-types cannot be burned in this manner.
Telepathy (DW Locked): (Innate) This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple allies, allowing it to avoid taking damage from attacks that affect the whole field like Earthquake and Surf.

How it's gonna go down

  • Leethoof sends out his first two mons, equips them with items and decides how to apply the essence effect to each of them.
  • DFrog does the same for his first two mons and orders.
  • Leethoof orders
  • Objection casts Summon Reffing VII

"This will be close, but I have faith in my team! Go, Siddhartha and Jambalaya! Wait, what is happening to them?"

Jambalaya@Exp Share. "This is rather strange. Jambalaya, take the essence from that Pawniard, becoming a Steel/Flying-type and learning Brick Break, Dig, Thunder Wave, and Sucker Punch! That should fill out your movepool well enough..."

Siddhartha@Exp Share. "Siddhartha, you'll need to take the essence of Necturine, receiving its Anticipation and learning Will-o-Wisp, Hex, Giga Drain, and Hidden Power Fighting."
What was I thinking bringing a bunch of 100 HP mons to this arena... 9.9

"This battle will be indeed challenging!"

Aphrodite @ Lucky Egg
Gel @ Exp Share

Aphrodite ~ absorbs Vullaby's Dark essence, in place of her Grass type donning her Overcoat.

Gel ~ absorbs Drifloon's speed, taking the moves Thunderbolt, Hex, Disable and Will-o-Wisp

Aphrodite: Will-o-Wisp (Vullaby) ~ Hidden Power (Vullaby) ~ Hidden Power (Vullaby)
If Vullaby uses Taunt (Aphrodite) A1 use Solarbeam (Munna) instead
If Vullaby uses Evasive Attacking move use Shadow Ball (Munna) that action

Gel: Confuse Ray (Munna) ~ Thunderbolt*2 (Vullaby)
If Munna uses Light Screen then Snatch (Munna) that action (do once)
If Vullaby uses Evasive Attacking move use Shadow Ball (Munna) that action

"These two are dangerous, Jambalaya! Get out of there!"

Jambalaya: Taunt (Aphrodite) -> Nasty Plot -> U-Turn (Gel)
If Gel hits itself in confusion Action 2, then use Thunder Wave (Gel)
Siddhartha: Magic Coat
-> Light Screen -> Shadow Ball (Gel)
If Gel is paralyzed A3, then use Hex (Gel).

Flavour

At first, this seems like an ordinary battle, with Leethoof starting with Jambalaya the Vullaby and Siddharta the Munna, and DFrog leading with Aphrodite the Necturine and Gel the Solosis. But suddenly, all four pokemon undergo some significant changes! Jambalaya's inherent darkness is replaced by a steely exterior, Munna starts becoming a bit jittery, Aphrodite's plant-like features transform into a large shadowy umbrella, and Gel becomes a lot more agile than he normally is. It also seems that, apart from Aphrodite, they have all picked up some new tricks. This ought to be an interesting battle.

Initially, Gel fires a blinding Confuse Ray at Siddharta, but the Munna anticipated this and, with a swiftly-put-up Magic Coat, the ray rebounds and dazzles the Solosis! Jambalaya then flips Aphrodite the bird in an attempt to Taunt her. This seems to have had the intended effect, as Aphrodite starts building up sunlight - a task made more difficult by her shadowy umbrella - and then fires a SolarBeam straight at Siddharta! The Munna's reflective barrier does nothing against this ray.

Gel suddenly sees Siddharta trying to set up another barrier and attempts to take it for himself, but unfortunately he loses his bearings and hits himself on a tree. Luckily, he doesn't do any lasting damage to himself. However, when Jambalaya sees that the Solosis' manoeuvre was unsuccessful, she decides to make it even harder for him with one of her new tricks. She summons several electric sparks and quickly launches them all at Gel. This Thunder Wave has slowed him right down. Aphrodite, now enraged at her teammate's incompetence, turns on the iron-skinned Vullaby and unleashes her Hidden Power in a small blast that does a little bit of damage to Jambalaya's exterior. Eventually, Siddharta manages to set up a Light Screen to protect himself and Jambalaya from further attacks.

Things get even worse for Gel, as not only does he wind up on the receiving end of a Hex from Siddharta and a clever U-turn from Jambalaya, but the electricity that slowed him down has caused him to come to a complete halt! Being fully paralysed will not do him any favours. Aphrodite continues unleashing her Hidden Power, but thanks to Siddharta's protective wall, the damage it deals to Jambalaya is pitiful. At this point, Jambalaya chooses to quit while she's ahead and, upon recalling her to her pokeball, Leethoof sends out his third pokemon: Zephyr the Drifloon. But will Drifloon go through a similar transformation to the other four pokemon we've seen so far?

Shadow Balls and Hexes and Ominous Winds, oh my! Well after a while, Siddharta is looking badly bruised but thanks to the efforts of him and his new ally Zephyr the Drifloon, Gel is overwhelmed by the ghostly attacks and cannot fight any more. Aphrodite continues the Shadow Ball barrage, but while Siddharta Yawns at her, making her feel kinda sleepy, Zephyr summons a Will-O-Wisp that floats towards the Necturine and leaves a nasty burn on her. Can DFrog come back from 3-2 down? I'm not going to rule out that possibility just yet.

DFrog, decide what item you're attaching to Sigma the Pawniard and tell me how you plan to apply Munna's essence to it, and then you order first this round.

Still sore about R1

Sigma @ Amulet Coin
Take the moves: Magic Coat, Light Screen, Psywave & Moonlight
Taking Forewarn

Sigma: Thunder Wave (Munna) ~ Torment (Drifloon) ~ Faint Attack (Munna)
[Takes effect on A2] If Will-o-Wisp (Sigma) Magic Coat and push down [DO ONCE]
Aphrodite: Hex+Hex (Munna) ~ Cool Down (Ominous Wind [Munna]) ~ Shadow Ball (Munna)

ObjEDIT: Just saying, you'd need to specify who you'd be aiming Ominous Wind at in the event that the combo does not go off.
Though Ominous Wind hit multiple targets... either way doesn't matter that turn Yawn kicks in

"Stay strong, Siddhartha! I have faith you can pull through!"

Siddhartha: Imprison [Shadow Ball, Hex, Magic Coat] -> Hex (Aphrodite) -> Shadow Ball (Aphrodite)
Zephyr: Hex (Aphrodite) -> Will-o-wisp (Sigma) -> Ominous Wind (Aphrodite)
If Siddhartha is FP'ed A1, change A2 to Ominous Wind (Aphrodite) and A3 to Hex (Aphrodite_

Flavour

Well a replacement for Gel was found in the form of Sigma the Pawniard, who has become considerably more paranoid and intuitive as a result of obtaining Siddharta's essence. He thinks it's a clever idea to Thunder Wave the poor Munna into submission, but the joke's on him as Siddharta's other ability kicks in and Sigma suddenly finds that moving is much harder than normal! Zephyr, pleased with how the burn is afflicting Aphrodite, chooses to put a Hex on her. Aphrodite, on the other hand, tries to use a Major Hex on Siddharta, but the Munna saw it coming and, despite being completely immobilised, is somehow able to avoid the incoming attack. It seems that the attack drained Aphrodite and she has fallen asleep!

Zephyr continues to wail on the slumbering Aphrodite, this time by blowing an Ominous Wind over her. The wind's spirits seem to favour Zephyr and stick around to give him a power boost, a defence boost and a speed boost! That thing is starting to look unstoppable! Siddharta follows up with a Hex of his own on Aphrodite. The sleeping Necturine just can't get any peace. Team DFrog, on the other hand, is completely inactive, with Aphrodite cooling down from her combo and Sigma being immobilised.

As a result of the spirits' backing, Zephyr's next Hex leaves more of a mark on Aphrodite, but she manages to sleep through it! Sigma turns his frustration on Siddharta and slips off for a moment before unleashing a Faint Attack on him as payback for his trickery. Siddharta, however, is unable to move again! So it looks like this round didn't go according to plan for either battler.

Flavour

Team DFrog decides to go for a barrage of fast attacks. Aphrodite pulls off a couple of Shadow Sneaks against Zephyr, but Sigma's initial attack never happens as he, once again, finds himself immobilised. It doesn't take long for him to regain enough mobility to follow up with a pair of Sucker Punches to catch the Drifloon off guard. After another Ominous Wind and Hex from Zephyr, Aphrodite is looking very weak. But it isn't until Jambalaya chooses to Fly up high that she realises her time has come. First, the Vullaby slams into her from above, and then, being the Brave Bird that she is, she charges head-first into the Necturine and finally topples her. Team Leethoof then turns on the remaining opponent, with Zephyr zapping him with a Thunderbolt and Jambalaya following up with a Brick Breaking blow.

Well, there was some hax this round. Unfortunately for DFrog, it was not Forewarn hax. It was the second of Jambalaya's Brick Breaks landing a critical hit. Despite Sigma's best efforts and an initial Faint Attack, he is helpless once Zephyr Disables that manoeuvre. A couple of Thunderbolts later, Sigma is down and it's all over. Leethoof wins!
