So yeah time to explain my experience and such. So first of all you can search "Omanight" over here and see some replays of matches I have had. A lot of them are rather lolzy while some really show how well Omanyte can sweep through unprepared teams. Some of them include 6-0ing Abfloww and other stuff :) First off a quick explanation of the team. This team was built in collaboration with Sweep, a voice on PS. He wasn't rather familiar with LC and was wondering why Omanyte wasn't used more so I helped him build a team around it. It uses Omanyte in Sand was my first idea, as HP Fire Omanyte can hopefully lure Snover in/switch in to Blizzards as well as wreck Ferroseed and dent Porygon. With that, the core of Drilbur/Hippo/Omanyte was weak to Lileep, as well as the fact that it needed a more reliable switchin to snover while checking the metagame. Croagunk/Misdreavus/Pawniard pretty much fit tightly as partners as it pretty fills the checklist I mentioned above. BU Croagunk works EXTREMELY well with Omanyte and can setup on Timburr/Mienfoo. I encourage you to use Croagunk alongside Omanyte if you decide to use it. LO Drilbur is there to pull out a "oh shit LO SD Drilbur just OHKOed my Lileep that I switched in, Omanyte is coming for me" moment on them which surprisngly worked a decent chunk of times. Literally everything but Hippopotas on my team had a setup move, absolutely defining the concept of Sand Hyper Offense. Omanyte can really work well on cleaned mess of Hyper Offense as really powerful sweepers such as the ones I mentioned can pretty much dent everything which allows Omanyte to get that extra damage it needs to get those OHKOes and sweep. Omanyte is a great sweeper for a few reasons. First of all it has surprisingly good bulk on both ends to pull of a Shell Smash (especially in sand) and was invaluable to me as my team was so Hyper Offensive that Omanyte was the only thing I could resort to when it comes to bulk aside from the Hippo. It also does something amazing as being the only pokemon who can set up on Murkrow, Misdreavus, and even Mienfoo situationally all at once.Omanyte can turn SubRoost Krow (the most common set i see) into setup fodder with right prediction as Brave Bird is the only thing it has to hit you. Even with proper mindgames you can PP Stall the Sucker Punches if you are manly enough. It's far from a perfect counter to Krow though, so you should run backup checks to it (in this case, Rock Slide Drilbur/Hippo) Omanyte can also surprisngly setup on Misdreavus with the sand thanks to sand giving it enough Special bulk to shrug off HP Fighting and lure them to use it as SS fodder. Omanyte's bulk in general is what makes it so good, it can lure weaker attacks that it is 2x weak to and use them as SS fodder. A lot of people would stay in with Bulky Mienfoo or Missy and attack on omanyte when they can't kill me letting me set up SS. Omanyte's bulk is so good and can really save you so many times it's insane. It does suffer some issues vs Chinchou and Bulky Porygon (pretty much everything it can't do too much do can be weakened by my team support) and it might not OHKO everything on sight. It's biggest problem easily is Lileep. It can shrug off most hits bar Ice Beam and still live those. Lileep was a huge nuisance for Omanyte to face but a combination of softening of Drilbur/Missy and the sheer power Pawniard and Croagunk bring to the table stopped it very well. Overall Omanyte is a great mon and imo can be a staple in High-Level LC if a. People build better teams than me b. More people just start to get around using it. tbh I felt that this was too easy of a DH run because of how good it was.
