Yep, Dive Ball's blue and white. I've copied about 300 onto my Pearl from Emerald Pal Parking. Mossdeep City's the only place to buy them, in the third gen. Catch rate of a Poke Ball, though.


Great news, I FINALLY got my chain to go to over 40, have two shinies in Dive Balls on the Porygon (Not good ones, sadly, and one's Bashful). Good thing I have 2 DSes, and am doing this on my (non-breeding) Diamond cart...

Just worried about running out of Leppa Berries. Curse Recover.

Yes, 99% of the time a shiny patch, no matter where wont break your chain dude. I've only had it happen ONCE out of 130+ shinies I have. I'd say go for it.

I got over 100 timid porygons!^^
One with 25-31 in both stats! and 28-31 HP! Will check them tomorrow... :OOO

I decided to break the chain at 207, because I didn´t have that many repels left and my boxes were close to be overcrowded... rofl

E: Used Luxury Ball and after the half premier balls!

Forsworn - Nicely done. You were using AR I assume? How long did that take? I've never stuck with a chain that long.

Lorak - Nicely done as well. The 31 speed one is plenty usable. The one with Download and 26 speed could have HP Fighting, so get exact IV's on that one. I don't know why you posted the rest, but they're all trash.

For the record I recommend chaining without AR, or at always learning to chain without AR.

No 31spd+satk... xDD

I have a better theory on your optimal patch... I´ll tell you tomorrow^^

@ all: Is the Calm usable, or not, out of curiosity?
Clarifications:
Dreadfully sorry, Diesel. The first you mentioned is: Timid #137 Porygon: 11 / 0 / 22 / 26 / 23 / 26 (HP Steel 68). The other is Timid #137 Porygon: 30 / 26 / 3 / 20 / 11 / 31 (HP Grass 59)

Lorak - Ouch, that's so close too! One less on the SpDef, tough luck. I don't know about the Calm one, but it's seems like it could be viable maybe?

Forsworn - Wow, that's pretty incredible, I figured you used it with the short timeframe of that chain. How long did it take you to get all those? I also didn't notice that you didn't have 170 or so shinies, and that you have less, so that makes it shorter. If you have AIM (preferable) or MSN I'd like to discuss your theory over that.

May sound odd. But I definately didn´t use it! lol
It was more then only hard and I broke so many chains, because I went in a damn patch, while recharging, but this huge chain was done without any use of an AR!!

It took 3 hours to reach the 40, because I tested the perfect patch theory and it worked all the time!! :O
Theory: 3&4 on one side and 1&2 at the other... little complicated to explain^^
After that I tried to enter only shiny patches, but i miss enterd sometimes! I got so lucky! xDD
I began yesterday at 19:00 and finished now: 01:30... at all I chained... ummm... 7+5+1+6= 19hours!! (Today was a free day... rofl)

2's pretty good, shame about the ability on 5 although I guess download has its uses too.
7 would make a good porygon-2... I'd trade for that if it was up for trade.

Oh, yea, those hours make sense, haha. Well done, I don't think I could ever stick with a chain that long, props to you.

How many times did you test that out? It looks pretty solid to me. I typically only stick with things in the same quadrant, but there probably in no advantage to that in terms of the coding of the game. It fits with the buddy rule and all, so I believe it. Great find if you're right! Next time I chain I'll be sure to try that out. I encourage everyone else to try the formation Forsworn just posted as well!

Forsworn - Well, you pretty much told me what I needed to know, I'm still curious to know a few details though. This thread should be fine for any discussion, but add me on AIM anyway if you'd like, although I'm not on too much at the moment. I'm excited to test that formation out. You should hunt for more if you're interested, this really makes me curious.

Does this guide really work? I'm asking this question because I tried it like many times and haven't been able to get any shinies:( But I tried Serebii's guide like once and managed to gain 2 shiny Snubbulls on a chain of 60, my highest ever:) So thanks for people replying, I'd like to also know which kinds of patches that Forsworn entered, thanks:)

EDIT: Do you guys base classifying your 3 and 4 away patches by counting diagonally as well? I've tried this and it works, because I think a good 4 away, it breaks because diagonally I counted 3 away patches which means that that 4 away patch I thought was a 3 away:( I've tested this many times and each time its' broken as I thought it was a viable 4 away patch:( Any suggestions? And also does that Perfect Patch Theory actually work TheForsworn?
