Thank you Allstar, the tie-breaking hero I needed but didn't deserve!
Congratulations to Taskr for winning with his Counter Clefairy, with Baguette Syndrome coming in close second with Dragon Dance Altaria!

The thread activity is sort of dying down, and the next couple of weeks are gonna be busy for everyone. Because of this I thought it'd be fitting to stop Lure That Threat until the new year, so I plan on posting week 12 on Monday 1st January!

No, that doesn't mean it'll be late and on the 2nd. I promise.
Hope you all have a good Christmas and New Year!

Fashionably late, heha!

Week 12

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 132 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Protect

Ferroseed has earned it's reputation due to it's defensive prowess, becoming a key component of the PU metagame. Being able to check psychic, water and normal types in 1 slot is hard to match, especially when paired with spikes and leech seed to rack up residual damage whilst having longevity. Luring Ferroseed allows you to use passive mons such as Gastrodon and Miltank without fear of giving away free recovery or free spike layers.

Please try to go beyond putting Hidden Power Fire on mons randomly
Happy Luring!

Mesprit @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Ice Beam

Ferroseed is oftentimes the initial switch in to Mesprit (since most of them are defensive) and this set can cripple it easily and set up Stealth Rock on its face. This set is also useful in general on bulky offense to tear down walls and as a reliable revenge killer in any case since you'll be clicking Psychic most of the time anyway

Kabutops @ Rockium Z
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- Aqua Jet

Ferroseed is always an obvious switch-in into a Kabutops, resisting both of it's stabs, while also checking it pretty well after one Swords Dance. With Superpower on the other hand it OHKO's it without any problems at +2.

-2 252+ Atk Kabutops Superpower over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 128 Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 279-329 (95.5 - 112.6%) -- guaranteed KO in 2 turns after Stealth Rock (2 Superpowers in a row)
+2 252+ Atk Kabutops Superpower vs. 252 HP / 128 Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 332-392 (113.6 - 134.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Skuntank @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Defog
- Poison Jab
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Blast

Hi, Skuntank with a mixed set is pretty cool to lure Ferroseed. Especially if beforehand you use one of your other two attacking moves and they think you to be physical. Unfortunately, it does rely on actually hitting a move with imperfect accuracy but it does 2HKO if you hit. Plus you can Defog if they try to Spike up on you which will make it easier to land.

4 SpA Skuntank Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Eviolite Ferroseed: 160-192 (54.7 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Bibarel @ Life Orb/Fightinium-Z
Ability: Simple
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance
- Superpower
- Waterfall

Ferroseed usually walls normal Bibarel sets but with Superpower it can easily OHKO Ferroseed at +4. Alternatively, you can run Fightinium-Z so you don't have to suffer the stat drops.

+4 252+ Atk Life Orb Bibarel Superpower vs. 252 HP / 128 Def Eviolite Ferroseed: 528-621 (180.8 - 212.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

mesprit @ colbur berry | levitate
bold nature | 252 hp / 240 def / 16 spe
magic coat | psychic | ice beam | u-turn

this lure does kinda have the same prinicpal as the one above that galbia posted, 9 times out of 10 when ferro comes in on mes the player is usually think they'll be able to get free rocks, but with magic coat, mesprit is able to bounce back rocks / spikes or even any potinetal status ailments back on ferro's side of the field.

Exeggutor-Alola @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball
- Infestation

Please forgive me lmao
People usually pivot around alolan exeggutor due to its solid coverage, but if you use infestation on ferroseed, you trap it and kill it with flamethrower
dont actually use this

lanturn.gif

No Super-Effective Move?!?

Lanturn (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Soak
- Whirlpool

A regular Lanturn has nothing to hit Ferroseed with, but with this set, Lanturn can trap the incoming spiky boi, Soak it, and proceed to kill it with Toxic and Whirlpool, No HP Fire or Z move necessary.

Voting time!

galbia with Scarf Trick Rocks Mesprit
GenZeon with Swords Dance Superpower Kabutops
SergioRules with Fire Blast Physical Skuntank
Taskr with Superpower Bibarel
Stan Soojung with Mirror Coat Mesprit
Elyna with Soak Whirlpool Lanturn

Didn't include Exeggutor-Alola becasue it beats Ferroseed anyway. Pivoting Ferroseed on STAB is a realistic scenario, but you still have control once Ferroseed comes in since it can't pressure beyond setting up spikes.

Congratulations to GenZeon for winning with his SD Superpower Kabutops, with galbia coming second with Scarf Trick Rocks Mesprit.
Thanks to everyone for avoiding Hidden Power Fire on random mons, it surprisingly resulted in a good quality week.

Week 13

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled

Clefairy is becoming a rising star in the PU metagame, recently being moved up to A- in the viability rankings. This is largely due to it being the tier's most reliable specially defensive wall, most notably being one of the few mons that take on Pyroar and assault vest Magmortar. Magic Guard is what makes Clefairy so amazing, making it immune to entry hazards and turning it into a status absorber without the need for heal bell. This set in particular is used to minimise the damage taken from Ferroseed's Gyro ball by running minimum speed, which also in turn helps in a trick room match-up. Luring Clefairy removes the team's stealth rocker, and also opens the door for faster special attackers like Floatzel to clean up late game instead of being walled for eternity by soft-boiled.

Happy Luring!
