[OVERVIEW]
Magneton may not look great at first glance, but it can be an extremely helpful team member because it is able to trap and take out Pokemon such as Mega Steelix, Choice Scarf Durant, and Bronzong. It also acts as a decent check to Diancie, Abomasnow, Fletchinder, Scarf Tyrantrum, and Water-types not named Seismitoad thanks to the bulk granted by Eviolite, its high Special Attack stat, and its great combination of STAB moves. Though its typing grants it a fair share of good resistances, it is also weak to three extremely common typings in RU: Ground, Fire, and Fighting. Magneton also has a mediocre Speed stat, which leaves it outsped by a lot of offensive threats.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon act as Magneton's main STAB moves; both attacks are fairly hard-hitting and together have relatively decent coverage. Hidden Power Water can be used to hit Mega Camerupt on what it thinks is a safe switch in while still hitting Mega Steelix. Alternatively, you can also use Hidden Power Fire to hit Escavalier. Magnet Rise allows Magneton to better deal with Mega Steelix without Roar as well as Bronzong lacking Hidden Power Fire, as it leaves Magneton completely immune to Ground-type attacks for five turns while still resisting the other attacks that Bronzong and Mega Steelix often carry.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread is used to maximize both the power and speed of Magneton. Timid is the preferred nature so that it is able to outspeed Pokemon with neutral base 80 Speed. Magneton's preferred ability is Magnet Pull, as it allows Magneton able to trap and KO Steel-types. Eviolite grants Magneton a very helpful amount of bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Attempt to lure in and trap Steel-types as early as possible by using double switches, Pokemon with Baton Pass or U-turn, or even sacrificing a Pokemon to an opposing Steel-type in order to get a completely free switch in. Do not unnecessarily risk Magneton early-game while Steel-types you want to trap or Pokemon you need it to check are still able to threaten your team. If you are going to use Magneton to trap Bronzong or Durant, be sure to specifically scout for Hidden Power Fire Bronzong and Durant without a Choice item.

Team Options
========

Magneton appreciates teammates such as Swords Dance Drapion, RestTalk Diancie, Tyrantrum, and Substitute + Bulk Up Braviary that have issues with Steel-types and they can lure them in. Magneton also works well with Pokemon such as Slowking, Alomomola, Flygon, Sigilyph, Granbull, Rotom-C that can switch into or check its Fire-, Fighting-, and even Ground-type weaknesses. Magneton needs teammates to cover its Ground-type weakness because it is not fast enough to be able to set up Magnet Rise against everything. As Eviolite gives Magneton most of its bulk, it is greatly weakened by Knock Off, so make sure to use a Pokemon that doesn't mind taking a Knock Off such as Virizion, Fletchinder, Mega Steelix, Emboar, Granbull, or Diancie.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Magneton can run Choice Scarf to make up for its low Speed stat and check Durant, even without a Choice item, but this set is still outsped by a majority of Choice Scarf users and leaves it unable to beat other important Steel-types like Mega Steelix and Bronzong. Magneton can also run Analytic with either Choice Specs or Eviolite, as it is able to force foes out and deal a lot of damage with Volt Switch and its other attacks, though this set is outclassed by its other sets. Magneton can also run a set with Life Orb and four attacks, but this kind of set is overshadowed by Manetric completely.

Checks and Counter
===================

**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon completely counter Magneton and are able to take it out easily. Depending on Magneton's Hidden Power type, Mega Camerupt either counters or checks Magneton. Other faster Ground-types such as Flygon and Dugtrio can switch into a Thunderbolt and OHKO Magneton before it can get a Magnet Rise off.

**Electric-types** Pokemon such as Manectric and Jolteon avoid the 2HKO from Flash Cannon and put pressure on Magneton to not use Thunderbolt due to their abilities. Manectric can OHKO Magneton with Flamethrower or Overheat and Jolteon can potentially Baton Pass its Substitute to an ally depending on how much HP the Jolteon runs. Assault Vest Eelektross is a hard counter to Magneton more so than any other Pokemon in the tier and can KO it with two Flamethrowers.

**Fire-types**: No Fire-type Pokemon can switch into Magneton safely, excluding Camerupt, which can switch in depending on which Hidden Power Magneton is running. Pokemon such as Delphox, Emboar, and Houndoom are all checks and can obliterate Magneton with their Fire-type STAB moves.

**Fighting-Types**: Pretty much every Fighting-type Pokemon excluding Poliwrath easily checks Magneton and OHKOs it with a STAB move. Gallade and Virizion can even switch into it freely when healthy.

Though its typing grants it a fair share of good resistances, it is also weak to three extremely common typings in RU: Ground, Fire, and Fighting. Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon act as this set's Magneton's (up to you) main STAB moves; both attacks are fairly hard-hitting and together have relatively decent coverage. Hidden Power Water can be used to hit Mega Camerupt on what it thinks is a safe switch in while still hitting Mega Steelix. Alternatively, you can also use Hidden Power Fire to hit Escavalier. Magnet Rise is the move that allows it Magneton to trap better deal with (it's the ability that traps them, not Magnet Rise) Mega Steelix without Roar as well as Bronzong, (RC) without lacking (a bit of differentiation) Hidden Power Fire, as it leaving leaves Magneton completely immune to Ground-type attacks for five turns while it resists resisting the other attacks that Bronzong and Mega Steelix often carry.

Attempt to lure out (in?) and trap Steel-types as early as possible by using double switches, Pokemon with Baton Pass or U-turn, or even sacrificing a Pokemon to an opposing Steel-type in order to get a completely free switch-in. Team Options

Magneton appreciates teammates such as Swords Dance Drapion, RestTalk Diancie, Tyrantrum, and Substitute + Bulk Up Braviary that have issues with Steel-types and can lure them in as they can lure in the Steel-Types such as Swords Dance Drapion, CroDiancie, Tyrantrum, and Substitute Bulk Up Braviary (these Pokemon are not Steel-types, are they?). Magneton also works well with Pokemon that can switch into or check its Fire-type, Fighting-tyoe, and even Ground-types weaknesses (you don't switch into a weakness, but you switch into/check a Pokemon or move) because it is not fast enough to use Magnet Rise against foes like Slowking, Alomomola, Flygon, Sigilyph, Granbull, and Rotom-C (this is a bit confusing. These Pokemon are Magneton's ideal partners, as they can take care of "Fire-, Fighting- , and even Ground-types", yet you say that Magneton needs to use Magnet Rise before them so that it can deal with them. Not only Magnet Rise is kinda useless against everyone bar Flygon and EQ Granbull, but Magneton is faster than some of them, e.g. Granbull and Alomomola, but it also has a good matchup against some, so this doesn't really make sense. You might want to rephrase this in a clearer way), and more. Since As Eviolite gives Magneton most of its bulk, it is greatly weakened by Knock Off, so make sure to use a Pokemon that doesn't mind taking a Knock Off such as Virizion, Fletchinder, Mega Steelix, Emboar, Granbull, or and Diancie.

The main point is that these Pokemon attract Steel-types: BU Braviary usually runs max spdef Sub/roost/bu/brave bird, so something like Mega Steelix is a decent switch-in, and at the same time Diancie is 4x weak to Steel. Magneton is forced needs teammates to cover the its Ground-type weakness because it is not fast enough to be able to set up Magnet Rise against everything. As Eviolite gives Magneton most of its bulk, it is greatly weakened by Knock Off, so make sure to use a Pokemon that doesn't mind taking a Knock Off such as Virizion, Fletchinder, Mega Steelix, Emboar, Granbull, or Diancie.

**Ground-types**: Pokemon like such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon completely counter Magneton and are able to take it out easily. Depending on its Magneton's Hidden Power type, Mega Camerupt either counters or checks Magneton. Other faster Ground-types like such as Flygon and Dugtrio can switch into a Thunderbolt and OHKO Magneton before it can get a Magnet Rise off.

**Fire-types**: No Fire-type Pokemon can switch into Magneton safely,(AC) excluding,(RC) Camerupt,(AC) which can switch in depending on which Hidden Power it Magneton is running. Pokemon like such as Delphox, Emboar, and Houndoom are all checks and can obliterate Magneton with their Fire-type STAB moves.

**Electric-types** Pokemon such as Manectric and Jolteon avoid the 2HKO from Flash Cannon and put pressure on Magneton to not use Thunderbolt due to their abilities. Manectric can OHKO it Magneton with Flamethrower or Overheat and Jolteon can potentially Baton Pass its Substitute to an ally depending on how much HP it the Jolteon runs. Assault Vest Eelektross is a hard counter to Magneton more so than any other Pokemon in the tier and can KO it with two Flamethrowers.
