Overview
########

+ Access to Lightning Rod, which is more useful since you can now direct attacks at Manectric yourself.
+ It's got a Mega-Evolution.
+ Good coverage and reasonably good stats.
- Predictable
- Not considered one of the stronger Mega-Evolutions.

SET NAME
########
name: Mega Special Attacker
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Flamethrower
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
ability: Intimidate
item: Manectite
evs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

- Volt Switch allows Manectric to be dealing damage while getting out of harm's way.
- Thunderbolt is a STAB move, like above, but now Manectric remains in and it has greater base damage.
- Flamethrower provides coverage for Pokemon that wouldn't be hit hard otherwise, like Scizor, Genesect, and Aegislash.
- Hidden Power Ice gives Manectric the coverage over ground types that it needs, especially against the all-too-common Garchomp.

Set Details
========

- Obviously max out Speed and Special Attack to increase killing potential.
- Interestingly putting just one point into Defense change you change the chance of getting OHKO'd by a Garchomp Earthquake from 62.5% to 56.3%
- Manectite allows you to run Mega Manectric, which has increased Defenses and Offenses. It's all around better.
- You don't really have a choice as to what ability you run, but Intimidate is useful against Physical Attackers.

Usage Tips
========

- Don't be afraid to Volt-Switch out of there, especially if Manectric is the best chance you have against certain Pokemon.
- Use Intimidate to weaken Physical threats.
- Thunderbolt packs more punch than the other moves. If resistances play no part, opt for Thunderbolt.
- Try to avoid switching into Manectric for cannon fodder. It can play an integral part on teams.

Team Options
========

- Pokemon that Manectric can switch out to to avoid Eathquake, like Rotom-W or Charizard.
- Manectric is frail, so bulky Pokemon that can be switched into are useful.
- Conkeldurr can help deal with priority Pokemon, especially Mega-Kangaskhan. It also helps deal with Special Walls.

SET NAME
########
name: Scarfed Special Attacker
move 1: Volt Switch
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Flamethrower
move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Switcheroo
ability: Lightningrod
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spe
nature: Modest / Timid

Moves
========

- Volt-Switch allows you to deal damage while still escaping the battle field.
- Thunderbolt is a STAB threat, as well as having a good base damage.
- Flamethower provides a formidable coverage move.
- Hidden Power Ice is intended to threaten the Ground-Type Pokemon that are so scary to Manectric.
- Switcheroo the Choice Scarf to other Pokemon to choice-lock them into something that they wouldn't want.

Set Details
========

- Max Special Attack and Speed, while putting one point into Defense.
- Run Timid or Modest, Timid if you think you need more speed once the Scarf is gone. If you tend to keep the Scarf around, then run Modest to increase your damage output.
- Choice Scarf gives Manectric the ability to outrun most of the tier, or switch it off to mess with opponents' strategies.
- Lightingrod is a useful ability, increasing Special Attack every time that a Electric type moves hits it.

Usage Tips
========

- If you already have a mega, run Manectric for Lightningrod. It is still useful.
- Before the Scarf is off, be careful that you don't lock yourself into a move that would inhibit you.
- Keep the Scarf on you until you see the right opportunity. It doesn't need to be switched off.

Team Options
========

- Dischargers that can raise Manectric's Special Attack and attack both enemies at the same time, like Rotom-W or Jolteon.
- Staraptor, surprisingly, does really well with Manectric. Manectric draws away Electric-Attacks that threaten Straptor, and Staraptor discourages use of Earthquake, since it would be 0x effective, as well as Intimidating Physical threats.
- Conkeldurr can assist in getting past Special Walls, especially through access to Knock Off.

Other Options
########

- Manectric has access to Signal Beam, and if you see a use for it, you can run it. However, there are better moves to run.
- If you're not a fan of HP Ice, try other HPs. See what fits your play style and the meta game the best.
- Manectric has a wide pool of Physically Attacking moves, despite its subpar Attack stat. You are welcome to try an Attacking set.

Checks & Counters
########

**Ground-types**: Ground Pokemon that aren't threatened by HP Ice, like Excadrill, can still destroy Manectric.

**Priority**: Manectric does well because it can out the tier with its Scarf. Priority always out speeds and gets right to Manectric's miserable defenses.

**Special-Tanks**: Though this may seem self-explanatory, it can surprise people at times. Heatran, for example, takes at least four unboosted attacks to beat, and it takes at least eight unboosted hits to get past Blissey.

Sorry, Alphonse, but I am re-assigning this analysis to Arcticblast, who is more well-versed about this Pokemon.
