Tonight's warriors are...

Matezoide:

<Mankey> [Steve] (Male)
Nature: Jolly (+16% accuracy)
Type: Fighting
Fighting: Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw. Superior reaction time in close quarters.

Abilities:
Vital Spirit : (Innate)

This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Vital Spirit also has Insomnia, its evasion is raised by one (1) stage permanently.

Anger Point: (Innate)
When struck with a critical hit, this Pokemon becomes enraged and its Attack rises to maximum (Stage 6). However, its Attack will drop up to two (2) stages at the end of each round instead of one (1) stage until it reaches stage zero (0).

Defiant (DW LOCKED): (Innate)
The Pokemon has a deep sense of honor, and whenever one of its stats are decreased by an opponent's Attack or Ability, it's Attack increases by two (2) stages. Attack Boosts gained this way are not subject to deterioration that round.

Hyper Cutter: (Innate)
This Pokemon always keeps its claws/teeth/pincers extremely sharp, and thus cannot have its attack reduced.

Shell Armor: (Innate)
This Pokemon’s thick, bony outer shell prevents it from taking critical hits.

Adaptability: (DW LOCKED,Innate)

Run Away (Innate):
This Pokemon is quick on its feet and will evade any field traps and hazards that would harm it (Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes) in an arena. A Pokemon can still absorb Toxic Spikes if it has Run Away and is Poison-typed. Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to switch out of trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.

Flash-Fire (Innate):

This Pokemon thrives in high temperatures, and takes the energy of any opposing fire attack, nullifies the damage, and uses the additional power to boost its own fire attack’s Base Attack Power by two (2). Self-targeted attacks do not give the boost.

Flame Body (DW LOCKED,Innate):

This Pokemon’s external temperature is kept at such a high level that any contact attack used on this Pokemon has a 30% chance of burning the opponent.

Sending out Kindle the Chimchar and Paradox the Ralts.

Paradox will be holding an Amulet Coin.

Kindle: Fake Out (Corphish) ~ Thunderpunch (Corphish) ~ Thunderpunch (Corphish)
IF Corphish successfully uses Protect THEN Acrobatics (Ponyta) and push actions back.
IF Ponyta uses Hypnosis AND is not Encored THEN Encore it on your next action and push actions back.

Paradox: Trace Ponyta's Flash Fire

Thunder Wave (Ponyta) ~ Thunderbolt (Corphish) ~ Thunderbolt (Corphish)
IF Corphish successfully uses Protect THEN Future Sight (Ponyta) the first time and Psychic (Ponyta) the second, pushing actions back each time.
IF Corphish currently has Double Team clones up THEN Magical Leaf (Corphish) and push back.

Good luck,EndQuote,i am still new here, but hopefully,i can learn a few things battling you.

``Alright, this dude clearly has way more experience than we do,but we can do this......probably......possibly.....maybe.... (we are screwed)``

Twilight: Hypnosis (Paradox) -> Body-Block (Rob) -> Charm (Kindle)

Rob: Mudsport -> Waterfall (Kindle)
-> Dragon-Dance

IF
Rob is flinched at A1,use Mudsport A2 and Dragon-Dance at A3

IF
Twilight wakes up and is forced to use Hypnosis at any other action, aim it at Kindle,

Passive round is passive......hopefully Twilight can wake up at this round and my (terrible) plan works.

Oh,and if you do role-play commands and stuff like that, can you at least try to be gentle? I am sensible :P

Round the first: A bout of rather unsavory status ailments

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Mr. [CENSORED] and his hound are going to be overseas for a week or so, and therefore I, Alphonse Wellingham Georgington von Pretential the third, will be your host for tonight's battle, along with my most trusted companion, Socrates.

Skreeeeeeeeeeeeee~!

Now then. Tonight's bout pits the ASB initiate Matezoide against the veteran EndQuote in a doubles battle between unevolved pokemon. Despite the differences in experience, this should prove rather amusing for the audience here at ASB arena. Matezoide sends out his first two creatures - a Corphish named Rob and a Ponyta called Twilight - while Endquote summons a Chimchar called Kindle and a shiny Ralts under the name of Paradox.

The battle begins with Matezoide's pony staring into Paradox's eyes, and I would really appreciate not having to exercise retroactive continuity for this round anymore the Ralts is brought into a deep slumber. Kindle proceeds to take advantage of this use of Hypnosis by clapping his hands in a rather unrefined manner. Regardless, Twilight is flattered by this Encore. While the little Ralts is asleep, Rob proceeds to dirty him - and the rest of the pokemon on the field - until they are all Sporting large quantities of Mud. Such audacity...I would imagine they all need a bath when this is over.

Kindle, understandably upset from being dirtied, proceeds to deny Rob an attack by Faking the Corphish Out. Still euphoric from the encore, Twilight gazes hypnotically into Paradox's eyes, but one can't bring slumber to the sleeping, so her efforts are moot. With the remainder of the players incapacitated, nothing more occurs.

Again, Twilight performs another wasted session of Hypnosis, while Kindle delivers a Thunderous punch to Rob's maxillae - however, all that grime covering him lessens the impact of the blow. Paradox awakens, and realizing that there is a battle to be fought, shoots a small Bolt of lightning - not Thunder, lightning - upon Rob like an early dream of man. Again, the damage is buffered by the mud, but not enough to evade paralysis. Despite the grievous effects of said paralysis, Rob manages to perform a war Dance one would expect Dragon-types to use.

Little has happened in terms of damage, and it would seem that both of these trainers are more concerned with ruining each other's setting up. Unfortunately, we must wait for the trainers to give their next orders, so until then, listen to this word from our sponsors.

Skreeeeeeeeeeeee~!

*Meanwhile, somewhere in Egypt...*

Somebody's hitting the retcon button hard...

Shh! Don't say that! You wanna get us in trouble with the guys upstairs?!

Oh right...NO WORRIES, BOSS, I AM JUST KIDDING. THE BATTLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY, AND HAS NOT BEEN EDITED IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM.

...You think they believe us?

I hope so...

My bad,but wouldnt Paradox`s Synchronize make Twilight sleep as well? the ability list says it is Innate and the rules states ``All abilites``.
If that were to happen,i assume Twi would wake up at the same time as Paradox and hypnosis Kindle at R3 instead, correct?

(PS: Your reff always makes me lol, specialy the robot)

``Alright, time to be more offensive, but not too reckless``

Twilight: Stomp (Paradox) -> Charm (Kindle) -> Stomp (Paradox)

Rob: Crunch (Paradox) -> X-Scissor (Paradox) -> Crunch......er (Cruch + Crunch, Paradox)

IF Paradox uses Teleport to dodge at any point, hit Kindle with Waterfall and Wild-Charge,unless Twilight was ordered to use Charm.

IF Twilight is unable to use Charm at A2 for whatever reason, use it on A3 instead

On a side note,Rob`s ability prevents critical hits.

Sorry, but Synchronize actually doesn't pass on sleep.
I remember learning that the hard way in some battle or another.

Good thing we got the retcon button

At least, due to my mistake, now we (me and Wanderer) are now aware that Freeze and Sleep arent passed on by the ability :toast:

IF Paradox uses Thunder-Wave,Hypnosis him before getting paralised and use Charm on Kindle on the next action.

Sorry, but I don't think an Encored action can change targets. Ponyta should keep trying to hypnotize Ralts.

That being said, your flavor is some of the most entertaining I've ever seen.

Oh well, fair is fair,if Lady Luck isnt feeling generous, who am i to complain?

Round the second: An elegant duel and a baser brawl

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. As you'll recall, the previous bout was comprised primarily assembling a suitable defense for rounds to come, and now we have carried on into the battle proper.

Twilight begins the round by galloping up to Paradox and attempting to Stomp all over him as if he were some kind of insect. Kindle does not take this kindly and appears to be-

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEE~!

What troubles you, Socrates?

SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEE~!

...Whatever EndQuote's Chimchar was saying, it was probably a truly foul Taunt, as both Twilight (and Socrates by proxy, most likely) are quite furious. Paradox attempts to prevent Rob from performing by attempting to Disable his Crunch attack...however, how can he possibly do that when the Corphish hasn't even used it yet? Regardless, the attack is rendered moot, and Rob proceeds to overcome his paralysis and take a Crunch out of his antagonist.

Twilight's rage has left her unable to focus on Charming anyone, and in a rather mocking gesture, Kindle proceeds to give her an Encore anyway, only infuriating her further. Paradox and Rob ignore the tension between the two pyros and continue their dance, and while the former tries to hold the other back with Psychic forces, the latter manages to reach him and Scissor him in the shape of an X with his claws.

Flaming in body as well as vehemence, Twilight attempts to trample EndQuote's Chimchar by Stomping all over him, while Kindle drives her into even further rage as he ignores her like some kind of plebian in favor of compounding Rob's issues with a phantasmal Will-o-Wisp. In spite of this, the Corphish remains vis-a-vis with Paradox, who further attempts to slow him down by administering Psychic shocks. Unfortunately for Rob, his paralysis finally catches up with him, and he is unable able to move.

The battle has truly begin now. The odds are in Matezoide's favor, but only slightly, and there's more than enough opportunities for EndQuote to reverse his fortune. Unfortunately, our sponsors must have their time, so we'll meet again when the trainers have given further orders. Isn't that correct, Socrates?

...Socrates?

*Socrates is glaring at Kindle with murderous intent. Meanwhile, in Egypt...*

So what'd the Chimchar say to piss him off?

He told Twilight to do things to the Staraptor that I'd...rather not describe.

Hehe, looks like the Corphish wasn't the only one who got burned.

Oh...

Well, fuck. XD

Righty-o!

Kindle: Attract (Ponyta) ~ Thunderpunch (Corphish) ~ Brick Break (Corphish)
IF Corphish targets you with Waterfall THEN Counter it and push actions back.
IF Corphish has fainted by a3 THEN Dig (Ponyta)

Paradox: Psychic (Corphish) ~ Thunderbolt (Corphish) ~ Psychic (Corphish)
IF Corphish faints, Thunder Wave Ponyta.
IF Corphish has Double Team clones up, Magical Leaf (Corphish) and push actions back.

And shouldn't Crunch still be Disabled?

#23
Nah,since Disable was used before Crunch,it wasnt disabled. Had you used it on A2,Crunch would be disabled.

``Ok,break!``

*brings Rob and Twilight closer*

``Ok,we are doing prety well, lets keep the offensive pressure, but no need to over do it. And i am sorry you had to hear such things,Twiliht, some pokemon just arent nice.``

Rob: Crunch........er (Crunch + Crunch,Paradox), Cooldown (X-Scissor,Paradox), Crunch (Paradox)

IF: Rob is able to jump on front of Twilight and take the Attract instead on A1,do it and push-back actions, unless Kindle is flinched.

Twilight: Stomp (Kindle), Body-Block (Rob), Fire-Blast (Paradox)

IF: I am mistaken and Paradox still has Flash-Fire,use Stomp on him instead.

IF: Paradox faints at any point, attack Kindle instead with Waterfall (Rob) and Stomp (Twilight)

Round the Third: Betrayal at the hands of their comrades

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. I assume you've been anticipating this round? As you'll recall, Twilight the Ponyta has flown into an unstoppable rage at the mouth of an incredibly crass Chimchar, while Paradox and Rob ignored them both in favor of a duel with one another.

Twilight continues her bout of fury by trying to Stomp upon Kindle once again, and the Chimchar responds by...some kind of dance?

Skreeeeeeeeeeeee~!

Is he infuriating you again, Socrates?

*Meanwhile, in Egypt...*

Is he trying to seduce her?!

Seduce her?

Yeah, I think that's the traditional Chimchar mating dance.

...how do you know about things like that?

*Back at ASB arena...*

It would seem that...Kindle is trying to Attract her. And strangely enough, succeeding. Twilight looks like she's torn on whether to murder him or nuzzle him.

***

Yup, she's a tsundere, alright.

A what?

***

All the while, Paradox and Rob continue their fight to the death, the Corphish appearing to be preparing for an exceptionally powerful strike, whilist EndQuote's Ralts tries to stop him with Psychic force. Regardless, Rob manages to go through with his strategy this time around, combining two Crunch attacks to make Paradox Crunch...ier. Ugh, such a hideous pun...

Twilight is ordered to shield Rob from incoming attacks, but her mix of infatuation and rage leave her unable to focus, and she ends up doing naught - leaving the Corphish open to attack by both of EndQuote's pokemon. Kindle and Paradox take advantage of the grime having sloughed off all of them for the most part; the former delivering another Thunderpunch to Rob's crown while the latter shoots another Thun-er, lightning bolt, paralyzing him yet again.

Taking advantage of the weakened Paradox, Twilight aims to bring him down this time - letting loose the burning daimonji that is Fire Blast...the poor thing never stood a chance. However, Rob is grievously injured as well, something Kindle takes advantage of with a Brick Break to his maxillae...and he falls as well.

The deadly dance between Rob and Paradox has been ended by each other's respective allies, and thus the last pokemon of both sides shall take the field. Unfortunately, that'll have to wait, so until then, enjoy this word from our sponsors.
