Maxim VS. Eternal Drifter (Ref: That Wild Wolfe!)

Heaven or Hell...

~A massive mountain encases a perfect square stadium that reaches fifty feet in all directions. A moat of water surrounds the field, reaching down into unknown depths. The afternoon sun's rays reflect upon the iridescent gemstones in the natural rock, showering the field in a rainbow of colors. Stands are placed all throughout the interior, with several spectators eager for a fine battle. Several giant television screens are placed all over the stadium which will display the action to come.~

Arena: Center Stage
Description: This arena is a reasonably popular arena where crowds gather to see a different type of battle. You see, they don't want to see any standard issue stuff like at the ASB Arena, they want battles with flair, creative moves, and intensely close calls. As such, in this arena roleplaying actions are more likely to work. Additionally, the ref can modify the arena as he desires (within reason, no teleporting to another dimension) to either cause pain to the competitors or open up new roleplaying opportunities. For instance, he could have a tent appear over the competitors thus allowing them to use the poles to smack each other or even bring the tent down and muck everything up.

As for the arena itself, it's a fairly simple battlefield. The competitors are on the top of a platform about 50 ft in the air, surrounding a simple moat (though the ref can modify this as he so chooses). This platform is a square measuring about 50 yards on each side. The floor is white, although some grass covers the arena allowing Energy Ball and similar moves to work at full effectiveness. The arena is contained within a cavernous area, but the sun shines through the ceiling giving ample light. All moves are allowed.

Summary:
Roleplaying actions are easier to pull off
Referee can modify the arena within reason
All moves are allowed

Fern (Persian) (Female)
Hardy Nature
Type: Normal
Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.

Abilties:
Limber: Type: Innate
This Pokemon’s body is well trained and immune to paralysis.
Technician: Type: Innate
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their one-hit or two-hit attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power on each hit multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, Double Hit to from 4 per hit to 6 per hit etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects. Technician only applies to combos in the rare case that an initial hit will have 6 or less BAP.
(Dream World: Unlocked!) Unnerve: Type: Innate
The Pokemon's presense causes immense tension in the opponent, preventing them from eating a held Berry. Natural Gift may still be used.

DUEL 1! LET'S ROCK!

After Bahamut and Oblivion Knight bellow their war cries, Fern leaps with her claws outstretched and rakes Bahamut's scales. After the Salamence routs Oblivion with a meteor shower, the wily Scrafty pilfers Bahamut's ornamental fang for himself. Ian roars and showers the field with molten lava. While Oblivion coughs and gasps for air, Fern reveals herself as Mirage the Zoroark!

Both Mirage and Oblivion vanish in the recesses of the stage and leap from the shadows upon Bahamut. As Oblivion strikes true by gouging Bahamut's eyes, the mighty dragon screeches a cry of pain and batters down the Scrafty with a powerful combo. To make matters worse for the Dark-typed duo, Ian sears them both with more volcanic rocks and heat.

Mirage continues slashing Bahamut, while the dragon continues beats down Oblivion. The Scrafty douses Ian with a cloud of horrific toxins, but this isn't enough to stop the Camerupt's searing offense, which is more than enough to eliminate Oblivion Knight and leave Mirage badly singed.

As the remaining three Pokemon catch their breaths, suddenly they all feel light on their feet. Before they know it, the three of them are floating midair as the field loses its gravity!

Zero Gravity

-All Pokemon now float in the air and are immune to all seismic attacks and effects on the ground (like Spikes). Earth Power now has 6 BAP.
-All Speeds are retained.
-All non-contact damaging attacks (such as Flamethrower and Ice Beam) will have -40% Accuracy after modifiers.

"The pest... Get in there my pet, and don't let the pest resume her illusion!"

I made a slight mistake in the Zero Gravity mechanics - it also makes all Pokemon immune to Dig and Dive unless their size class is 5 or greater. However, since no one used it this round and Eternal Drifter's substitution didn't kick in, it shouldn't change much. I think. ^^;

Music: Pokemon Reorchestrated - Kanto Trainer Battle

DUEL 2! LET'S ROCK!

Making up for her blunders last round, Mirage slanders Ian into a furious rage while Fern stuns the mighty Bahamut by smacking his head with her paws. Bahamut staggers in the air, while Ian stews to himself.

Mirage kicks off of one of the walls and narrowly misses a headbutt from the Salamence by just inches, while Fern easily takes advantage of the dragon's lowered guard with a series of vengeful swipes. As the Zoroark leaps down upon Bahamut, the incensed Ian clutches Fern and drags her straight into the hard ground. While Ian suffers a bit of knock back from the aftershock, Fern is very visibly bruised.

Together Mirage and Fern finish off the paralyzed Bahamut as Ian can only catch his breath. From the sides, several large green bubbles emerge from the air vents and suddenly start crowding the airspace with the Pokemon. In addition, a red sign flashes over on the plasma display notifying that the gravity will be restored to normal very soon.

Arena: Center Stage
Zero Gravity

-All Pokemon now float in the air and are immune to all seismic attacks and effects on the ground (like Spikes).
-Dig and Dive will miss unless the user has a size class of 5 or greater or the user has Levitate or a Flying-type. Earth Power now has 6 BAP.
-Speed and mass (Weight Class) are retained.
-All non-contact damaging attacks (such as Flamethrower and Ice Beam) will have -40% Accuracy after modifiers.
-The move Gravity can be used to restore normal gravity, but it will only last for 3 actions. This move cannot be used to increase gravity while this arena effect is in place.
-Gravity will be restored to normal after the next round. Hope you have a means to land safely!

-Bubbles!
-The bubbles are enormous with a size class of 5. Any Pokemon can use the Take Cover command to hide behind one.
-There are a lot of bubbles in the air space, but they will not interfere in the battle unless you actively do so.
-The bubbles can be used to nullify any energy or "Special" based attacks, such as Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Shadow Ball, as well as any blunt force attacks such as Mega Punch, Tackle, and Jump Kick.
-The bubbles can be popped with any sharp attack, including moves with the name "Scissor", "Cut", "Blade", "Fang", and "Edge". If they pop while any Pokemon is hiding behind one using Take Cover, the defending Pokemon will suffer full damage of the attack, as well as 10 additional damage and will be flinched on the next action.
-Any other plausible action with these bubbles are permitted.

"Well, this is a setback. No matter, come on out Korangir, ancient terror of the skies!"

"Ancient terror of the skies? What are you talking about? I'm a nice and amiable guy!"

Item: Hard Stone
Ability: Rock Head

"This evens us out... but not for long... Let the opposition come crashing down!"

Demon Lord Itsumo used Teleport!

Fern:
Action 1: Switcheroo (Ian)
Action 2: Pay Day (Ian)
Action 3: Faint Attack (Ian), grabbing on to make Ian land beneath Fern (and hopefully upsidedown, limiting attack options for him next round)

If Aerodactyl Successfully passes Protect to Ian, use Fient that action (grabbing onto Ian if Action 3.)

Mirage:
Action 1: Imprison (Protect, Toxic, Taunt)
Action 2: Sucker Punch (Ian)
Action 3: Aerial Ace (Ian), grabbing on to make Ian land beneath Mirage (and hopefully upsidedown, limiting attack options for him next round)
IF Taunted before acting, change first action to Low Sweep (Ian).

"Well, this could get ugly fast. Thankfully that Switcheroo helps me more than it hurts. We will need to get past that whole gravity turning on again though, so we'll need to put a stop to his shenanigans."

Korangir: Taunt (Mirage)~Wing Attack (Mirage)~Sky Drop (Persian)*
If Mirage is knocked out by A2, then use Sky Attack (Persian) A2

*Note on A3: Korangir will attempt to take Persian up as high as he can before dropping him to make the damage from the gravity more prevalent.

Camerupt: Ember + Flamethrower combo (Mirage)~Cooldown (Eruption)~Brace for Impact! (Basically take measures like standing parallel to the ground to lessen the damage)
If A3 will not work, either because of Taunt or it simply not being a valid action, then use Mud Bomb (Persian).

DUEL 3! LET'S ROCK!

The fresh Korangir blithely insults Mirage for the horrific blunders early on in the match. The Zoroark snaps and ends up sweeping the already irate Ian. During the scuffle, Fern craftily swaps out Ian's Charcoal with her EXP. Share, yet this isn't enough to prevent Mirage from being totally roasted by the belligerent Camerupt.

Fern then launches a lucky charm at Ian. Unfortunately, the lack of gravity causes her projectile to float from her trajectory only to eat a fearsome tackle from Korangir.

The Persian attempts to leap on top of Ian's back, however the Aerodactyl is much faster and swoops up Fern with impeccable speed. The Persian can only flail her claws helplessly as she's brought higher into the cavernous stadium, so much the field is now merely a dot. Ian spits out a big blob of mud at Fern, however both she and his partner are now far up high.

And suddenly, the gravity turns back on.

Helpless against the mighty force, Ian crashes harshly into the ground, suffering severe bruises in addition to his poisoned body. Fern, however, fares much worse as Korangir uses this opportunity to drop the Persian at just the right moment, causing the poor feline to slam hard into the ground suffering severe fractures and sprains all over. This definitely isn't one cat who landed on her feet. The gleeful Aerodactyl swoops back to his spot effortlessly with not a single hint of damage in sight.

After the combatants regain their footing, they suddenly find themselves surrounded on a center stage. Literally. Piles of instruments surround the combatants. Who placed them there? Nobody knows.

Arena: Center Stage
Literal Center Stage
This is an enormous stage filled with a variety of musical instruments. The instruments include tubas, clarinets, flutes, violins, cellos, cymbals, marching drums (with matching drumsticks), and even a giant piano. There's a finite amount of instruments, but there are enough to go around for four Pokemon. Like before, any plausible roleplaying action with these instruments are allowed.

Mirage endured the hit!
Demon Lord Itsumo reappeared!

The self-proclaimed Demon Lord appears behind Mirage, lifting the nearly unconcious Zoroark into the air with pyschic power so that her eyes met his.

"Well well well... managed to survive all that, did we? I know you seek my missing servant, you illusionist. I seek him as well. I'll let you go without another scratch if you tell me where you think he is."

...

"No? Begone! And pray you don't cross paths with me again..."

Demon Lord Itsumo used Fling!
Itsumo threw Mirage at Maxim!
MIRAGE FAINTED!

"Useless trickster! And conspiring against me! Battles continually lost, but with each defeat, my power grows! The might of my servants grows ever stronger! Their numbers, ever thicker! I have one more of my servants today! Can you stand its might?!?"

Decoy the Electrode, Agent of Itsumo

"Go forth! And destroy those before you!"

Maxim used Dodge.
He avoided the attack.
Mirage landed in the moat and fainted anyways.

"Hey! Blast it. Well, in any case, we'd better finish this off."

Ian (Camerupt): Earthquake~Chill~Earthquake (Try to use the drums with these Earthquakes if possible)

Korangir (Aerodactyl): Rock Slide~Stone Edge (Decoy)~Rock Slide

For Both:
If Explosion is used, then use Protect
If Selfdestruct is used, then use Protect (Why isn't there a substitution class for these moves?)

"Kekekekekeke! You may have won the battle... but you will lose the war! End this!"

Fern:
Action 1: Protect (Fern)
Action 2: Water Pulse (Korangir)
Action 3: KOed (Shock Wave Korangir)

Decoy:
Action 1: Spark (Korangir) (4 Energy)
Action 2: Massive Explosion (Explosion + Explosion Combo) (95 Energy)
Action 3: KOed (Massive Explosion)

(Bump for TheWolfe)

"Kekekekeke! Follow me when you recover, my servants!"

Itsumo used Teleport!

From behind Maxim, the trainer hears the voice of his opponent...

"Be glad that the worst I did to you was throw an annoyance at you. If you had encountered me elsewhere, I would be attacking the trainer themselves with much more might behind the attacks... but until we meet again... may you one day wake to find you were only ever a dream..."

Itsumo used Teleport!
Itsumo fled from the battle! (And explosion)

DUEL 4! LET'S ROCK!

While Fern shields herself with a force field, Decoy spins into Korangir with his shiny hull cackling with static electricity. As the Aerodactyl shakes off the sparks from his body, he swoops on high and showers his opponents with a rain of stones. Ian follows up by grabbing one of the drumsticks in his maw and swings it down with incredible force upon the drums, sending a powerful shock wave that sends Decoy off his feet! Provided if a giant inverted Pokeball actually had such a thing.

Despite being pummeled earlier, Decoy simple grins as he shudders and flashes scarlet. Fearing the worst, both Korangir and Ian brace themselves with the strongest protective shields they can muster, while the crowds clear out in urgent response. As Fern's water attack bounces harmlessly off of the Aerodactyl, Decoy's eyes bulge out and then he releases a mighty demolition that utterly decimates the entire stadium.

While the enigmatic Itsumo vanishes just at the last second, Fern is deserted and forced the eat the full brunt of the explosion. The Persian is sent flying high and splashes deep in the moat, horribly bloodied. Korangir and Ian hold out as long as they can, however the Camerupt is far too fatigued to keep his defense much longer and is too swept away by the horrific blast. Of the four remaining Pokemon, only Korangir the Aerodactyl manages to survive.

As Korangir looks around the stadium, the sight is nothing short of catastrophic. Of what used to be a stage with instruments is an enormous crater dug at least 3 feet deep. Remains of what used to be the instruments lay in mere fragments. The stands have now been blown out, with a few haphazard chairs hanging helplessly. The few that weren't blown off were caved in with the giant luminous gemstones. The plasma displays are now busted, with a few limp sparks sputtering and crackling lifelessly. The moat has a light shade of red from Fern's injuries, however neither Decoy nor the Persian are anywhere in sight.

Maxim was saved thanks to his final Pokemon, Imhotep the Revenankh. As for the stadium, that's a much different story. While there were no causalities, the damage was intense. It will take a grueling amount of time, money, and resources to rebuild and recover this stadium to something functional, let alone back to its former glory.

It may have been a victory for Maxim, but it sure doesn't feel like it.
