Heaven or Hell...

~A massive mountain encases a perfect square stadium that reaches fifty feet in all directions. A moat of water surrounds the field, reaching down into unknown depths. The afternoon sun's rays reflect upon the iridescent gemstones in the natural rock, showering the field in a rainbow of colors. Stands are placed all throughout the interior, with several spectators eager for a fine battle. Several giant television screens are placed all over the stadium which will display the action to come.~

Description: This arena is a reasonably popular arena where crowds gather to see a different type of battle. You see, they don't want to see any standard issue stuff like at the ASB Arena, they want battles with flair, creative moves, and intensely close calls. As such, in this arena roleplaying actions are more likely to work. Additionally, the ref can modify the arena as he desires (within reason, no teleporting to another dimension) to either cause pain to the competitors or open up new roleplaying opportunities. For instance, he could have a tent appear over the competitors thus allowing them to use the poles to smack each other or even bring the tent down and muck everything up.

As for the arena itself, it's a fairly simple battlefield. The competitors are on the top of a platform about 50 ft in the air, surrounding a simple moat (though the ref can modify this as he so chooses). This platform is a square measuring about 50 yards on each side. The floor is white, although some grass covers the arena allowing Energy Ball and similar moves to work at full effectiveness. The arena is contained within a cavernous area, but the sun shines through the ceiling giving ample light. All moves are allowed.

Summary:
Roleplaying actions are easier to pull off
Referee can modify the arena within reason
All moves are allowed

Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) As Maxim walks onto the battlefield, he twitches a bit in excitement for the battle to come. A true battle of the ages, he thinks. He goes to the platform, head lowered slightly. Then he locks a gaze with his opponent, SimonSays, and then says:

"Ah, you're here. How about we get this battle started? Stocke and Vexen, come on out! Let's give our friends here a show!"

Stocke: "Yeah! Let's beat the crap out of these guys."

Vexen: "Hmm, pray tell, how is this supposed to open Kingdom Hearts again?"

Maxim: "It's not, you've been playing too much Kingdom Heats again haven't you?"

Vexen: "...Maybe."

"Another day, another battle..." Stretching out to bask in the glow of the sun, Simon smiles. With a calm flex of his arm, he strums the guitar he carries, letting the chord lose itself in the roar of the crowd.

"Maxim! How wonderful to finally meet you on the battlefield! Play hard, friend. The crowd loves a good fight! Celest, my beacon in the dark! Domino, the facade from which we strike! Hit hard and fair!"

Celest @ Eviolite: Fire Blast (Vexen) ~ Flamethrower (Vexen) ~ Fire Blast (Vexen)

Domino @ Thick Club: Bonemerang (Stocke) ~ Rock Slide ~ Bonemerang (Stoke)
IF Stocke would use Counter at any stage, change that action to Iron Head (Vexen) and push actions back IF Bonemerang was subbed.

"Well, it seems I forgot my items. I suppose that's what happens when your Pokemon goes off on a tangent. Anyway, Stocke take this Charcoal, and Vexen, take this Life Orb."

"If the item choice changes your actions, just say so and I'll reorder once you change them, otherwise, let's get it on!"

"Alright guys, let's start this match on the right foot. Stocke, those Bonemerangs are going to hurt, so bypass them by Digging underground and then striking Vulpix, using a Flamethrower on Cubone in between to deal massive damage. Vexen, whip up a hailstorm with your Snow Warning, then...well we can't bypass those fire moves, so use your now 100% accurate Blizzards to deal massive damage in the meantime, with a Leech Seed on Vulpix in the middle to harass."

Vexen: Blizzard~Leech Seed (Vulpix)~Blizzard

DUEL 1! LET'S ROCK!

As Vexen takes point, the skies grow chilly and overcast and golf sized hailstones pelt the field. The Vulpix wastes no time with a powerful stream of fire so strong, it sets Vexen on fire! The Snover answers back with his chilling winds that rock both Celest and Domino. Domino swings his thick club towards Stocke, but barely grazes the Torchic's feet as he tunnels and springs from under Celest's feet.

Celest roasts Vexen even more and the Snover spits several seeds that latch upon the Vulpix's shiny fur. Stocke rips with his own Flamethrower upon Domino, while the Cubone tosses his bone into the air again. This time, Domino skillfully launches his bone towards the gemstones in the ceiling and two large ones squash Vexen and Stocke.

Celest finishes off Vexen with a powerful flaming kanji and Stocke dodges Domino's deadly bone again, before emerging underneath Celest. As the frigid weather pounds the stadium, the ground takes a turn for the slippery as the field and moat are covered in thick patches of ice.

"Well this is interesting. So you've pulled out ahead for now? You're not going to win that easily. Shadow, come on out! And take this Eviolite as well."

Shadow: "Of course master."

Stocke: "You guys are good, but we shall be victorious!"

"All right, here's what we're going to do. Shadow, use an Ominous Wind on Vulpix to push it off the edge, then Stocke, I want you to go over then and use a flamethrower on Vulpix, forcing it into the moat, and hopefully melting it and freezing Vulpix in place. After that, just wail on Cubone."

DUEL 2! LET'S ROCK!

As Celest struggles to maintain her footing, the completely unhindered Shadow blows a chilling wind pushing the Vulpix back. As Celest tries to grip down on the slick ice with her paws, she aims a thick stream of fire launching her off the ground. Unfortunately for her, she gets caught right into the gale and the propulsion only aids her retreat into the icy moat. On cue, Stocke releases his own fiery stream at Celest. She manages to absorb the flames, however her hot body ends up melting all the ice around her and she plunges right into the cold water! Stocke grins and laughs at Celest's plight, however a thick club smacks the smile off the Torchic's face.

Now isolated, Domino is now forced to take both Shadow's antimatter sphere and Stocke's sharp claws. Celest tries to aid her partner with a powerful fire attack, however being surrounded by water on all sides freaks the poor Vulpix out. Domino manages to launch his thick bone towards the ceiling gemstones, dropping several of them upon Shadow. The gemstones skillfully ground the ghost Pokemon.

Shadow blows her dark wind upon Domino. Meanwhile, Celest tries to envelop Stocke in a deep trance, but barely fails to catch his attention as the Torchic finishes off the ailing Cubone with his red hot flames.

As Celest struggles to make her way back shore, the ground sudden rises under the Vulpix's feet. For that matter, several juts of craggy rock emerge all over the arena, thawing out the ice and drying out the remnants of the water. In unison, the ceiling begins to close, sealing the arena off from the outside air. The various gemstones illuminate the field in a dim light.

"That was not what I was hoping for..." Simon shifted his weight from one foot to the other, flicking a pokeball idlely with his free hand.

"Celest, don't you give up on us! No matter what, we can carry on. Electress, into the fray! Stand by your team mate as I stand by you!"

Celest: Extrasensory ~ Fire Blast ~ Extrasensory, all at Stocke
IF Stocke is underground when you would attack, shoot a Fire Blast into the hole to try and flush him out.
IF Stocke faints, redirect to Shadow.

Electress @ Amulet Coin: Thunder ~ Wild Charge ~ Thunder, all at Stocke
IF Stocke uses Evasive Agility, use Pursuit and push actions back IF Thunder was subbed.
IF Stocke faints, redirect to Shadow.

It's nearly 4am. I'm probably missing something major, but that's alright. And Thunder shouldn't be a "weather effect". I was watching the anime the other day, and the Thunder came from within the pokemon, so yeah.

"Hmm, this could get interesting. Well, here's what we're going to do. Stocke, you've got distraction duty; start by digging underground, stay there, then attack Vulpix if the Fire Blast doesn't force you out , then finish off with a Quick Attack + Sand Attack combo on that Blitzle. Shadow, while Stocke distracts everyone, I want that Vulpix destroyed. Start off with a Nasty Plot, then two Shadow Balls on that Vulpix."

Stocke: Dig (Stay underground)~Dig (Vulpix)~Quick Attack + Sand Attack Combo (Blitzle)

Misdreavus: Nasty Plot~Shadow Ball (Vulpix)~Shadow Ball (Vulpix)

Simon, your Blitzle's name is Xenith in her profile. You might want to fix that. :P

You are correct Simon - Thunder comes from the Pokemon and not from the sky. Also, I have to rule that Vulpix's Fire Blast will not flush out Torchic in this round because the Fire Blast's kanji is enormous while Torchic's hole is small. It will cave the Torchic in though.

DUEL 3! LET'S ROCK!

Shadow begins plotting malevolent misfortunes upon Celest. The newly arrived Electress avenges her fallen comrade with a violent beam of yellow electricity. Unfortunately, the beam just misses Stocke by inches and ends up turning a boulder into rubble. No longer freezing in icy cold water, Celest makes up for her ally's mistake and disorients the Torchic's senses. Stocke instead decides to tunnel straight into the earth.

The Misdreavus fires a powerful antimatter sphere at Celest, knocking the Vulpix off her feet. Celest's Eviolite shimmers warmly, buffering the blow. Electress wraps herself with sparks and ends up charging right into thin air. Celest decides to take aim right into the small tunnel Stocke made and releases a gigantic flaming kanji from her mouth. The kanji is too big to fit into the small hole Torchic made and ends up exploding on contact, caving in the Torchic with tons of rock. As Celest reassures herself of safety, the upset Stocke rips through the earth and tackles Celest from underneath.

Now aching, Stocke bursts with lightning fast speeds and kicks several dirt and rubble right into the Blitzle's face. As Electress squeals, Shadow finishes off the hurting Celest with another one of her antimatter spheres. Once Celest falls, Electress buckles down and prepares one more electrical attack to eliminate Stocke for good. Concentrating, her Thunder attack hits true, and it fries the Torchic into unconsciousness.

As Shadow and Electress steady themselves, the mountains and rocks throughout the field all suddenly crumble and collapse into the dirt. At first, the field is now completely dry and flat. However, the earth is starting to melt and sink in through the middle of the field. It's more than just quicksand - it's a quicksand whirlpool and it's starting to form and spin rapidly!

-Ceiling is now completely sealed off, preventing all weather effects.
-Field is now completely flat, no longer hindering any Pokemon.
-Moat is completely dried up, preventing use of all external Water attacks.
-A small quicksand whirlpool lies right in the middle of the field.

There is a whirlpool made of pure quicksand right in the middle of the arena. It is small right now, but by the end of the round, it will devour the entire field.

Any Pokemon stuck in the whirlpool will suffer a -2 stage drop to their Speed and complete inability to use contact or Electric moves. All attacks directed at any Pokemon trapped in the whirlpool will completely hit with exception of OHKO moves. Ground and Flying Pokemon are immune to the ill effects of the whirlpool, as well as Pokemon with the Levitate trait. However, if Flying and Levitating Pokemon are grounded, they'll suffer full effects of the quicksand whirlpool.

Any Pokemon can spend one action to escape the whirlpool, which they will generally succeed unless hit with an attack with 16 damage or greater, where they will fail and fall back in. If a Flying or Levitating Pokemon recovers their flight while in the whirlpool, they must still manually escape the whirlpool.

Right now, there's no danger of any Pokemon falling in unless you use a contact move or if deliberately knocked in.

Both sides are now down to their last Pokemon. However, each side still has the option to wear items.

DUEL 4! LET'S ROCK!

Shadow releases a hallucinatory beam of light that sends the new arrival Viceroy into a frenzy. Thankfully, the Scylar has enough sense to launch a trio of icicles upon fellow newcomer Ivan and pierces his scales for immense damage. As the frenzied Deino charges forth with his fangs outstretched, Electress binds him down with her electricity. Yet, this is barely enough to keep the dragon at bay. What does keep Ivan at bay however is a vortex of swirling sand! As Ivan crosses his side of the field where Viceroy is, he falls right in the swirling sands.

Fortunately, Shadow manages to cover his teammate with an antimatter sphere at Viceroy. Sadly for her team, the Scylar releases a piercing buzz at the struggling Ivan. Suddenly, Shadow too is chained down by paralysis which nearly grounds her. Ivan struggles to act, however his muscles spasm at a bad time.

Viceroy tries to maintain focus, but end up doing a somersault and slams his head right into the hard sand. Electress auspiciously wraps the Scylar in a protective force field and blocks a gust of bone-chilling wind from Shadow. Ivan still struggles as he's stuck swirling in the quicksand.

However, neither Viceroy or Electress won't be any more fortunate because the quicksand starts to consume the rest of the field, dragging both Pokemon into it! Shadow thankfully avoids the quicksand thanks to her propulsion. Soon, four giant stone outcroppings appear on the sides of the arena.
