Maxim's 1K Redux: Around the World in Sixty Rounds

Status
Not open for further replies.
A lone plane lands at an undisclosed Airport somewhere in the United States, and a duo of figures come out of the plane to greet four combatants.

Nora: You sure about this Maxim?
Maxim: Of course I am, what could possibly go wrong?

Then the camera turned on.

"Welcome everybody. It's the moment you've all been waiting for! My last 1K match was cancelled, but now I have an even greater challenge for these four lucky contestants (*camera pans to a shot of each battler). This is...Total Drama World To---"

"Uh, Maxim, somebody already has that name for their competition..."

"Really? Blasted copyrights. I'll think up a name later, for now let's check on the rules for this battle."

Rules said:
3v3v3v3 Singles 1K Celebration Redux
3 Day DQ Players (That's you), 5 Days Ref (That's me)
No Sequences
Fully Evolved Mons
1 Substitution per Pokemon
Items=On
All Abilities
Arena: Maxim's World Tour

All Aboard!

Recently, Maxim got a hold of a plane, a license, and quite a bit of jet fuel. What's he going to do with it? Well, take these battlers to the ends of the earth that's what! Yep, every round the battlers will get on the plane and head off to a number of fantastic and ridiculously dangerous places on the earth (Or a stereotype thereof). From America to Nova Scotia, from Germany to China, there's no place he won't go to cause these contestants misery.

Each round, a location on Earth will be chosen and a battlefield will be created based on the location. For instance:

Australian Outback:
Endless Sunny Day
Angry Kangaroos will harass the players (will be more detailed in the actual battle)
Ground attacks increased by 3 BAP
No water source
As for the location itself, it will rotate between each of the seven continents in the following order.

1st: North America
2nd: South America
3rd: Europe
4th: Africa
5th: Asia
6th: Australia
7th: Antarctica

To add even further pain to the challengers, Maxim will occasionally create challenges, a la Wario Ware, that will cost any pokemon that doesn't succeed 1/10th of their total hp and 8 energy.

Do you have what it takes to win this insane competition?

Summary:
Constantly changing arena
Challenges (-1/10th HP and 8 EN for failure)

After that is done, the thread will be posted, and each person will send out their pokemon in the order of their acceptance. Once all of the pokemon are out, each contestant will PM actions to me, two per round (Unless there's something saying I have to do three actions :/).

Now this is really important, you MUST be active in this match. If you go over the DQ time once, I will VM you to post actions soon or face DQ. If you go over DQ twice, the other players can decide whether to VM or DQ you. If you do it three times, you will be automatically disqualified, unless you have PM'd/VM'd me and the other competitors in advance. If you need, I can extend the DQ time.
"Ah, I have it! I'll name this Maxim's World Tour Bonanza!"

"...Really? That's got to be the worst name I've ever heard."

"Whatever, now let's introduce our contestants!"

"And in Seat 21C, we have the always mysterious, the travelling, The Wanderer!"
Team Wanderer:

Hydreigon [Lucius] (Male)
"<I am not a barbarian, gentlemen. I'll have you know I enjoy the finer things in life. Like Vivaldi. Or sipping a fine wine. Or dining on the mangled head of that lillipup I just killed.>"
Classy, affable, and truly depraved, Lucius is as valuable to his teammates as he is reviled. Now that I think about it, how DID he get into the wanderer's team, anyway?
Nature: Serious (no effect on stats)
Type: Dragon/Dark
Dragon: Dragon STAB; more in touch with legendary or special auras in arenas. Able to use Thrash without losing focus.
Dark: Dark STAB; immunity to all telepathic and telekinetic attacks, better performance in all darkened and especially twilight conditions. Can use any Dark-type attack regardless of Attraction.

Abilities: Levitate
Levitate: (Trait) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit. Levitate Pokemon will retain the Levitate trait when they use Skill Swap on an enemy, and will steal the opponent's ability (the user can specify if they want a foe or ally to gain Levitate from a Skill Swap.) If a Pokemon with Levitate uses Role Play, they will copy the opponent's abilities and retain Levitate.

Gallade [Quass] (Male)
"<The blood of the wicked shall flow like a river!>"
A Gallade the wanderer caught en route to the ruined Tower of Heaven, then just a Ralts. Quass's valiance and tendency to protect his allies have earned him the nickname 'The Paladin' among his fans. Also like a paladin, he has an overbearing sense of righteousness, and thanks to his intolerance of even the slightest of infractions, it's not uncommon to see him butting heads with his teammates.

Nature: Hardy (no effect on stats)
Type: Psychic/Fighting
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Justified (DW, Unlocked): (Innate) This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's attack will increase one (1) stage. A boost gained this way by another Pokemon's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.

Nature: Jolly (+15% speed, +19 accuracy, -1 SpA)

"With all of the competitors listed, we have finally arrived at our first destination, a place in my home state of Oklahoma known as Woolaroc. This place was formerly the mansion of...I believe it was Frank Phillips, oil tycoon. Nowadays its a museum, but for some odd reason they wouldn't let us fight inside the museum, so we're fighting outside in a rather plain field. Although there is one surprise."

Arena: Woolaroc Grounds
The outside of this museum has a large pond in the center, wrapped around with a somewhat steep hill of grass. This pond's water is plentiful enough to give +2 BAP to any Water moves that use it as a water source (such as Surf). There's a fence around the outside of the arena that is normally just a standard wire fence, but has been rigged by Maxim to be an Electric Fence. If a pokemon suffers 20 or more damage in a single attack, the force will be so great that the both the attacking pokemon and the target pokemon will be forced into the fence and receive 5 extra damage (multiplied with any weaknesses or resistances) and lose 6 energy. Other than that, all moves can be used.

Summary:
+2 BAP to any water move that uses an outside force
Natural Arena
Electric Fence (Any attack that exceeds 20 Damage will force both the attacker and defender to take 5 electric damage and 6 energy)

"You rigged the Arena?!"

"Well, yeah! What kind of battle would this be without spicing things up a bit?"

At this point, one of the competitors chimed up with a "Hey, how will we get there?"

"I'm glad you asked, each of your seats is equipped with a parachute..."

Maxim then pushed a button to an alarmed "NOOOO!" from the rest of the competitors, as they plummeted to the arena, until the parachutes came out.

"Now let's get this party started!"

Round 1: Woolaroc Hijinks.

Welcome everyone! Before the commercial break we dropped our contestants off at scenic Woolaroc. And I mean that literally *snicker*.

"Yeah yeah, we know, now tell us about the battle."

Alright you anticlimactic Volcarona. Let's see here, seeing that nobody was looking at attacking him, Krillowatt puts up a 20 HP Substitute using some of the seaweed at the bottom of the pond. In the meantime, Hydregion decides that that Steelix imposter has got to go, and hits Ditto with an Earth Power that does reasonable damage despite the buffed defenses. Steelix moves while the Ditto is still getting adjusted to the new body, and uses it to...hit Hydregion with a Sheer Force boosted Ice Fang, which is exactly what Ditto does as well.

Seeing that he's safe for now, Krillowatt launches some Scalding water at Steelix, which does some pretty good damage, just one damage below the electric fence threshold in fact. Hydregion continues his crusade against Ditto by firing a stream of fire in a Flamethower at it. Ditto moves first this time and uses a fierce Stone Edge attack on Hydregion...which completely misses. Hello Stone Miss. Steelix laughs at Ditto's misfortune, but then attacks Hydregion with another Ice Fang. Despite all logic, everyone seems to be attacking Hydregion even though it's about the only thing that can put a dent in that crazy Ditto. Oh well.

"Well, with that done...wait a minute! Nobody ran into the electric fence the whole time? My sabotage was all for naught!?"

"That's what you get for skewing the battle just for ratings."

"...It always works on the show."

"Well, in any case, what my partner means to say is that our contestants' pokemon have been put into stasis until we reach our next destination, which is:

Arena: Galapagos Islands
This beautiful yet deadly archipelago of islands is the location of the contestants' next battle. The scenery is that of a calm tropical island, and the nature gives grass moves +2 BAP. There is a coastline with plenty of water for any water attacks. Also, the local National park association will sue us if we cause a hailstorm or a sandstorm, so those are banned. Also, causing an Earthquake would probably be a bad idea, so let's not use that. Additionally, a host of poisoned animals inhabit this island, so any contact moves have a 30% chance of poisoning the opponent (Due to tripping over a venomous animal while running to the opponent), or in the case of steel types, burning them. As if that wasn't enough, missing a move here will cause a rather nasty surprise for everyone the next round.

Summary:
+2 BAP Grass Attacks
Earthquake, Sandstorm, and Hail are banned
Contact moves have a 30% chance to poison or burn the user (depending on type)
If any moves miss, a surprise will await in the next round!

"Hmm, I like it, Galapagos Islands. Deviously clever."

"Well, I try Maxim. Anyway, I'd like to give out a challenge before we get there."

Challenge:
Use no combinations

"...That's it?"

"I want to get the contestants comfortable before unleashing the nasty stuff on them. Besides, Diagnos over there seems to be plotting a devious challenge for next round!"

"I suppose that makes sense. Oh here are the islands now!"

"Attention all passengers, prepare to land on the Galapagos islands, A-Team style!"

One contestant manages a "Wait, are we in a Humvee!?" just before said Humvee starts plummeting to the ground.

I think this is going to be a running gag for this match.

Best strategy right now is to hit Ditto with physical attacks. Even adamant deoxys-a's superpower does a whopping 5 damage

"<Yes, I wouldn't mind someone else taking that purple slime out. Ditto can taste wonderful with certain pokemon, but they're quite disgusting by themselves.>"

Edit: "Bite my shiny temporarily metal ass!!"

"<You know, most of my victims tend to quiver in fear when I say that.>"

EDIT: "<...I think I'm going to end this conversation right here. Now, where is that Wall Street Journal...>"

Round 2: Sunny Galapagos Islands, with a side of battling

"HEAVE-HO!"

*Humvee flips over, and the competitors get out*

"Huh, who would've guessed the Humvee would land upside down!"

"I could have"

"Whatever, at least nobody will know about this incident."

"...By the way, the green light on the camera means that it's off right?"

"No, that means that it's rolling...NOOOOOOOO!"

"Ahem, while Maxim deals with the legal implications of leaving the camera on at a very bad time, I, Nora, will ref."

Welcome back to the World Tour, last we left our competitors, they were dumped off via Humvee at the Galapagos Islands. How will they cope with the mad arena effects (and slight head trauma)? Let's find out!

Krillowatt opens up with a fierce Hydro Pump on Steelix, which does absolutely massive damage. Lucky it didn't miss! Hydregion is still carrying out his crusade against Ditto by hurling a Flamethrower towards it. Steelix, bummed about not being able to use Earthquake, uses the next best thing, Bulldoze. Unfortunately, Hydregion's Levitate makes it immune and Ditto has too much defense for the bulldoze to penetrate. That and Sheer Force didn't activate due to the chance being 100%. Even worse, it only hit the substitute. Ditto want's revenge on that Hydreigon, so he uses a Heavy Slam which does reasonable damage.

One thing that Bulldoze did accomplish however, is letting Hydregion move ahead of Krillowatt, and deliver another Flamethower to Ditto. Wait, actually, Krillowatt had already responded by throwing Scalding hot water at Steelix, which burns him! Steelix responds by letting out another Bulldoze. Luckily, even with the burn it still destroyed Krillowatt's substitute. Ditto on the other hand hits Hydregion with an Ice Fang, leaving him with low health!

"Hey Maxim, you done yet?"

"Yeah, how many people got poisoned?"

"Nobody did, nobody used any grass moves, missed, or stepped on a poisonous lizard."

"WHAT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS ARENA DID NOTHING! That's it, I'm pulling out all the stops for this one! Behold, the Eiffel Tower!"

Arena: The Eiffel Tower
Here we are at lovely Paris, on the top of the Eiffel Tower. This is an artificial field, so there are no rocks or grass to speak of. Additionally, the guard railing is conspicuously absent (hehehe) so any attack of BAP of 12 or Greater will cause the target to fall off the tower and get a flat 10 damage. This'll only happen once per pokemon however, due to the rest of that pokemon's battle taking place at ground level. Even worse, there are lots of tourists around, angry ones. People can post here to throw one of three objects at one chosen competitor:
Anchors: Provided by my Arghonaut, Diagnos, these will cause 8 flat damage to anyone unlucky enough to earn the audience's ire.
Escargot: Will disgust one pokemon, enough that they have a 5% chance of flinching for each snail that's thrown at them
Wine: The French are famous for their wine, but this stuff is ridiculously corrosive. This reduces the defense of the audience member's choice by 1, and can stack!
Can anyone survive this? Probably not.

Summary:
12 BAP Attacks will force a pokemon to take 10 flat damage once
Audience members can throw objects.
No Natural Elements or Rocks

"Always, the dramatic one eh Maxim? In any case, Arghonaut, what challenge did you come up with?"

"Argh! It's the most FANTASTIC challenge this side of the seven seas!"

Challenge: Act like a Pirate!
All actions have to be given in EXACTLY the following form:
Argh![Attack](Target)~Argh![Attack](Target)

"...What."

"Awesome isn't it. Oh and I hope you don't mind I gave everyone an anchor for a souvenier!"

"Wait, wouldn't that make them crash through the floor--"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

"Well, I guess that's a yes..."

*Throw Anchor at Krillowatt*

Edit: Also throws Burn Heal at Steelix. Maxim catches it and throws it at King Serperior. King Serperior gets hit on the head and falls off the tower.

In France, we throw slimy disgusting things at Pokemon...That doesn't sound right...At any rate...

Chuck Escargot at Tammy

Those of you throwing wine, you need to specify whether you're lowering their defense or special defense.

Alright, I have everyone's actions. I will be reffing this in about an hour (9:00 GMT-5) so if you want to throw crap at the contestants, you'll need to post before then. I'll make another post here when I'm currently reffing.
