[OVERVIEW]

* Mega Metagross's ability Tough Claws gives all its contact moves a 33% boost.
* Mega Metagross has access to priority STAB Bullet Punch and a wide variety of coverage moves, such as Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Earthquake, and Hammer Arm. These coverage moves allow it to cover certain weaknesses Mega Metagross or its teammates have, carving a niche for this Pokemon.
* Mega Metagross's great defensive typing grants it an immunity to Poison as well as resistances to Fairy, Psychic, Normal, Flying, Ice, Rock, Steel, Dragon, and Grass. This allows it to check many offensive threats, some of which are Xerneas, Mega Salamence, Mega Lucario, and Deoxys-A.
* Mega Metagross's good overall bulk allows it to tank hits from Pokemon like Mega Salamence and Mega Lucario and then retaliate back with Ice Punch and Hammer Arm, respectively, to OHKO.
* Mega Metagross doesn't have a good offensive typing, making it weak to common Ghost- and Dark-type threats such as Lunala, Arceus-Ghost, Mega Gengar, and Yveltal.
* Unlike its competitor Solgaleo, Mega Metagross lacks reliable recovery, which makes it less effective as a Xerneas check and means it can be easily whittled down.
* Thanks to all these great coverage options, Mega Metagross does experience heavy four-moveslot syndrome, as it is limited to the number of coverage moves that can be carried.
* Running Mega Metagross in your team comes in exchange for not being able to run a different Mega Evolution like Mega Lucario or Mega Salamence, both of which are able to check more Pokemon and offer better offensive presence for the team.

evs: 184 HP / 148 Atk / 176 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Meteor Mash is Mega Metagross's strongest Steel-type STAB move and allows it to check Pokemon like Geomancy Xerneas and Arceus-Fairy.
* Priority Bullet Punch in conjunction with Meteor Mash allows Mega Metagross to 2HKO Geomancy Xerneas, as well as letting it pick off weakened threats.
* Ice Punch lets Mega Metagross check and OHKO Mega Salamence and deal a good amount of damage to Zygarde-C.
* Earthquake could be run over Ice Punch in order to hit the very common Primal Groudon.
* Toxic allows Mega Metagross to cripple common switch-ins such as Primal Groudon, Ho-Oh, Mega Slowbro, and support Arceus formes.
* Thunder Punch can be used over Toxic, as it can OHKO defensive Ho-Oh after Stealth Rock damage, 2HKO defensive Primal Kyogre after Stealth Rock damage, and 3HKO Celesteela without including recovery from Leech Seed.
* Hammer Arm allows Mega Metagross to 2HKO Ferrothorn and check some variants of Extreme Killer Arceus when used in conjunction with Bullet Punch.

Set Details
========
* Running 184 HP EVs lets Mega Metagross survive a +1 252+ Earthquake from Mega Salamence after Stealth Rock damage and OHKO back with Ice Punch.
* A Jolly nature with 176 Speed EVs allows Mega Metagross to outspeed everything up to positive-natured base 100 Speed Pokemon.
* 148 Attack EVs allow Mega Metagross to OHKO standard Geomancy Xerneas after Stealth Rock damage and to KO Arceus-Fairy with Meteor Mash followed by Bullet Punch.
* Clear Body grants it an immunity to Intimidate as well as Sticky Web prior to Mega Evolving.

Usage Tips
========

* Mega Metagross should be switched in through predicted switches and resisted attacks from Pokemon like Xerneas, after which it can proceed to use its coverage moves and STAB Meteor Mash to weaken the opposing team.
* Avoid letting Mega Metagross take unnecessary damage from resisted hits, Leech Seed, and Iron Barbs, as it requires the HP to check Xerneas and Mega Salamence. Predict switches into Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Celesteela and go to teammates like Primal Groudon to check them entirely.
* Use Bullet Punch to pick off weakened threats such as Xerneas, Mega Gengar, and Deoxys-A and also to create 50-50s with Sucker Punch Yveltal.
* Predict switches and go for the right coverage move to weaken the switch-in, which will make it easier for teammates like Xerneas and Primal Groudon to potentially sweep late-game.
* Go for Toxic when predicting switches into Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Ho-Oh to put them on a timer, making them easier to deal with.

Team Options
========

* Swords Dance Arceus-Ground pairs rather well with Mega Metagross, and it can check switch-ins like Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh.
* Primal Groudon is also a great partner, as it can provide Stealth Rock support for the team while also switching into Steel-types like Celesteela and Skarmory and Water-types like Primal Kyogre.
* Geomancy Xerneas appreciates Mega Metagross weakening its checks such as Primal Groudon, Magearna, and Ferrothorn using its STAB and coverage moves.
* Yveltal can provide an immunity to Ground-type attacks from Primal Groudon, and it also appreciates checks to Xerneas and Arceus-Fairy.
* Strong offensive threats like Extreme Killer Arceus, Deoxys-A, Primal Groudon, and Rayquaza appreciate Mega Metagross weakening their checks like Ferrothorn, Giratina-O, and Celesteela, making it easier for them to punch holes through the opposing team.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Stealth Rock can be carried over Toxic to relieve Primal Groudon of the role, allowing it to run a setup move over Stealth Rock. However, Mega Metagross lacks the qualities of a good Stealth Rock setter, since it gets walled by Defog Arceus formes and is better off carrying coverage moves or Toxic for its switch-ins.
* Explosion can be run to deal heavy damage to the opposing Pokemon and prevents hazard removal by an opposing Defog Arceus forme.
* Rock Slide is another possible coverage move that allows Mega Metagross to OHKO Ho-Oh.
* Pursuit can be used as the fourth move to trap Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y without Fire Blast and Deoxys-A.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Arceus formes**: Pokemon like Arceus-Ground, Arceus-Water, and Arceus-Dark can switch into Mega Metagross's STAB Meteor Mash and proceed to remove entry hazards or retaliate back with STAB Judgment, possibly OHKOing it.

**Steel-types**: Pokemon like Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn are able to avoid getting poisoned thanks to their Steel typing, which makes them annoying for Mega Metagross to face. Mega Scizor can easily take any hit and pivot around with U-turn, while Ferrothorn and Skarmory can set up entry hazards like Spikes on it. Ferrothorn can also set up Leech Seed and slowly weaken Mega Metagross with Protect; however, it must be cautious, as Mega Metagross could carry Hammer Arm.

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon can take any two hits from Mega Metagross and in return can set up Stealth Rock or even OHKO with Precipice Blades.

**Primal Kyogre**: Defensive Primal Kyogre can comfortably switch into any of Mega Metagross's attacks apart from Thunder Punch and proceed to inflict heavy damage with Scald.

**Zygarde-C**: Zygarde-C is able to take any hits from Mega Metagross and deal heavy damage with Thousand Arrows, while the Coil set can use Mega Metagross as setup fodder. However, it must be aware of Ice Punch, which can 2HKO Zygarde and 3HKO Zygarde-C, while Thousand Arrows is roll to 2HKO.

**Ghost-types**: Mega Sableye can't get 2HKOed by Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross, and it can deal back heavy damage with Foul Play. Other Ghost-types like Giratina-O, Lunala, and Mega Gengar can check Mega Metagross, as they as all downright OHKO it with Shadow Force, Moongeist Beam, and Shadow Ball, respectively.

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-Oh can easily switch into Mega Metagross and OHKO it with Sacred Fire. However, it must be wary of Rock Slide and Thunder Punch.

**Dark-types**: Pokemon like Yveltal and Darkrai can offensively check Mega Metagross, as they can OHKO it with STAB Dark Pulse.

**Lugia**: While Lugia can't hit Mega Metagross back for much, it can weaken it gradually; however, it does not like getting poisoned by Toxic.

This is now ready for QC. I believe the set and the spread could use some change.
Plz, excuse my bad grammer for now. I'll fix them up by the end of today!

Hammer Arm in moves.

I think 184 hp/148 atk/176 speed jolly is a better EV spread. This lets you survive +1 252+ EQ from Mega Salamence 100% of the time after SR and you OHKO it back with Ice Punch, making Metagross a fine check to all Salamence variants. IIRC you don't lose any significant KOes (standard Geoxern dies to Mash after SR, Fairyceus still dies to Mash + BP, etc...).

Slashing's been changed a bit: Grass Knot sucks, just get rid of it entirely. Arceus formes can recover off the damage and it forces you to take more damage from Xerneas needlessly. Earthquake gets some preference over Hammer since PDon is way more common than Ferrothorn (and sometimes you just need quick damage on it). Toxic is the best 4th slot option since it annoys PDon/Ho-Oh/Slowbro/all support Arceus universally which is valuable. Thunder Punch is worth slashing for a number of benefits: ohko offensive ho-oh after sr, 2hko kyogre (defensivee needs sr), hurt celesteela a fair bit (can 2hko with mash atk raise)

OO looks fine (remove TPunch obvs), I'll comment more when the set is fixed up.

Mega Metagross isn't a reliable ekiller check since variants with earthquake will OHKO it at +2 and Hammer Arm + Bullet Punch doesn't have a chance to KO ekiller in return. Reword all parts of the analysis that suggest this.

* Using Mega Metagross as your Mega Evolution means that more viable Pokemon like Mega Salamence, Mega Gengar, and Mega Lucario cannot be used on the team.
make sure you're explaining why these other mega evolutions are more viable, the way you sell metagross in the overview doesn't make this clear.

discuss some more of Metagross's pitfalls in the overview. stuff like lack of reliable recovery, weakness to dark- and ghost-types, and poor offensive STAB typing can all be mentioned. also include a comparison to Solgaleo here.

Ice Punch doesn't have a chance to 2HKO Zygarde-C. Specify that Thunder Punch 3HKOs Celesteela (without factoring in Leech Seed). Include Ferrothorn as a target for Hammer Arm.

* Don't let Mega Metagross take unnecessary hits as it requires the HP to check Pokemon like Xerneas, Mega Salamence, and Extreme Killer Arceus.
elaborate on how this can be achieved and give examples of what you want to avoid.

* Strong offensive threats like Extreme Killer Arceus, Deoxys-A, Primal Groudon, and Rayquaza appreciate Mega Metagross weakening their checks, making it easier for them to punch holes through the opposing team.
give examples of these checks

* Stealth Rock can be carried over Toxic as it can relief Primal Groudon from the role, allowing it to possibly run a setup move over Stealth Rock. However, Mega Metagross lacks the quality of a good Stealth Rock setter and is better off carrying a coverage move or Toxic for its switchins.
give examples of the qualities Metagross lacks, and why these make it a subpar Stealth Rock setter.

List Sableye with Ghost-types in C&C. Primal Kyogre and Zygarde-C should have their own bullets. Include a section for Steel-types and mention Ferrothorn and Scizor.

On second thought I would remove all instances where you compare the viability of Metagross to another mon, such as Solgaleo or other Mega formes. Viability is more subjective and can depend on the type of team as well. You should probably focus on specific advantages and disadvantages these mons have with regard to Metagross rather than directly stating whether they are more or less viable. Give me more detailed reasons than those I can gather from just looking at the VR.

Zygarde-C should still be listed as a target for Ice Punch since it's Metagross's best option to hit it.

In C&C mention that Mega Sableye isn't 2HKOed by Meteor Mash. Skarmory can be listed with Steel-types, and remove the separate sections for Celesteela in Skarmory since they're already listed with steels. Primal Groudon shouldn't be the first thing listed since it lacks reliable recovery and is 2HKOed by Earthquake after some prior damage.

Implemented the last 2 changes but regarding the first point u made,
Should I mention why other mega evos outclass mgross or just mention a few more flaws it has?

I didn't say to remove the comparison to Solgaleo, only the comparision of viability.
* Mega Metagross lacks reliable recovery, which makes it somewhat reliable as a Xerneas check and can be easily whittled down, thus making Mega Metagross less viable.
Remove the bolded part and just say something like "unlike Solgaleo, Metagross lacks reliable recovery, making it less effective as a Xerneas check."

Mention why other Mega Evolutions outclass Metagross since that's the comparison you're making.

Everything else looks good, make changes for 1/3

I think you should be more specific on how this Metagross set interacts with Xerneas, for example with the spread given it can switch into any Xerneas variant once with Stealth Rock up and be in a favourable position, however it only needs the slightest chip to become vulnerable to offensive Geomancy variants, ie. once it takes one Moonblast it will be in range of Hidden Power Ground or Fire / Focus / Thunder. You should only be switching into Xerneas if you're absolutely sure it's clicking Geomancy or if you know that if you force it out, it won't be able to set up later in the game or it'll be in range of Bullet Punch. Should also mention that this theoretically loses to Z Xerneas unless it comes in on the Z Geo, as Mash+BP only does a max of 78%, and even if you get a raise on the mash it won't kill from full, while +3 Moonblast 2HKOes. However with chip damage it can help bring it down for a team unlike Lucario so that's something.

I'll squeeze this into usage tips by tonight. Valuable information for the readers. Thanks for your input!

Zygarde should be further down the C&C list if Ice Punch is gonna be the first slash - it 2hkos Zygarde (accounting for transformation) and 3hkos big boss from full. Thousand Arrows is a 33% roll to 2HKO. Move it below the primals I'd say.

Note Bullet Punch targets in its usage tips section.

* Mega Metagross's good overall bulk allows it to tank hits from Pokemon like Mega Salamence and Mega Lucario, (RC) and then retaliate back with Ice Punch and Hammer Arm, (add comma) respectively, (add comma) to OHKO.
* Mega Metagross doesn't have a good offensive typing, making makes it weak to common Ghost- and Dark-type threats such as Lunala, Arceus-Ghost, Mega Gengar, and Yveltal.
* Unlike its competitor Solgaleo, Mega Metagross lacks reliable recovery, which that makes it a less effective as a Xerneas check and means it can be easily whittled down.
* Thanks to all these great coverage options, Mega Metagross does experience heavy four-moveslot syndrome 4MMS, as it is limited to the number of coverage moves that can be carried.
* Running Mega Metagross in your team comes in exchange for not being able to run a different Mega Evolution like Mega Lucario or and Mega Salamence, (add comma) both of which are the able to check more Pokemon and offer better offensive presence for the team.

Moves
========

* Meteor Mash is Mega Metagross's strongest Steel-type STAB move and that allows it to check Pokemon like Geomancy Xerneas and Arceus-Fairy.
* Priority Bullet Punch in conjunction with Meteor Mash allows Mega Metagross to 2HKO Geomancy Xerneas, as well as while also letting it pick off weakened threats.

Set Details
========
* 148 Attack EVs allow allows Mega Metagross to OHKO standard Geomancy Xerneas after Stealth Rock damage and KOs to KO Arceus-Fairy with Meteor Mash followed by Bullet Punch.
* Clear Body grants it an immunity to Intimidate as well as Sticky Web Webs prior to Mega Evolving.

Usage Tips
========

* Mega Metagross should be switched in through predicted switches and resisted attacks from Pokemon like Xerneas, after which it can then proceed to use its coverage moves and STAB Meteor Mash to weaken the opposing team.
* Avoid letting Mega Metagross take unnecessary damage from resisted hits, Leech Seed, and Iron Barbs damage, as it requires the HP to check Xerneas and Mega Salamence. Predict switches into Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Celesteela and go to teammates Pokemon like Primal Groudon to check them entirely.
* Use Bullet Punch to pick off weakened threats such as Xerneas, Mega Gengar, and Deoxys-A, (RC) and also to create 50-50s with Sucker Punch Yveltal.
* Predict switches and go for the right coverage move to weaken the switch-in, which will make it easier for teammates like Xerneas and Primal Groudon to potentially sweep late-game.
* Go for Toxic when predicting switches into Pokemon like Primal Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Ho-Oh, (RC) to put them on a timer, making them easier to deal with.

Team Options
========

* Swords Dance Arceus-Ground pairs rather well with Mega Metagross, (add comma) and it can check switch-ins like Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh.
* Primal Groudon is also a great partner, (add comma) as it can provide Stealth Rock support for the team, (RC) while also switching into Steel-types like Celesteela, (RC) and Skarmory, as well as and Water-types like Primal Kyogre.
* Geomancy Xerneas appreciates Mega Metagross weakening its checks such as Primal Groudon, Magearna, and Ferrothorn using its STAB and coverage moves.
* Yveltal can provide an immunity to Ground-type attacks from Primal Groudon, (add comma) and it also appreciates checks to Xerneas and Arceus-Fairy.

Other Options
=============

* Stealth Rock can be carried over Toxic to relieve as it can relief Primal Groudon from of the role, allowing it to possibly run a setup move over Stealth Rock. However, Mega Metagross lacks the qualities quality of a good Stealth Rock setter, since it gets walled by Defog Arceus formes and is better off carrying coverage moves or Toxic for its switch-ins.
* Explosion can be run to deal heavy damage to the opposing Pokemon and prevents hazard removal by an opposing Defog Arceus forme.
* Rock Slide is also another possible coverage move that allows Mega Metagross to OHKO Ho-Oh.
* Pursuit can be used as the fourth 4th move to trap Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo Y without Fire Blast and Deoxys-A.

Checks and Counters (you use "and proceed to" five times here!!!)
===================

**Arceus formes**: Pokemon like Arceus-Ground, Arceus-Water, and Arceus-Dark can switch into Mega Metagross's STAB Meteor Mash and proceed to remove entry hazards or retaliate back with STAB Judgment Judgement, possibly OHKOing it.

**Steel-types**: Pokemon like Mega Scizor, Skarmory, and Ferrothorn are able to avoid getting poisoned Toxic-ed thanks to their Steel typing, which makes them annoying to face with for Mega Metagross to face. Mega Scizor can easily take any hit and pivot around with U-turn, while Ferrothorn and Skarmory can set up entry hazards like Spikes on it. Ferrothorn can also set up Leech Seed and slowly weaken Mega Metagross with Protect, while it along with Skarmory, can set up entry hazards like Spike on it; however, it Ferrothorn must of be cautious, (add comma) as Mega Metagross could carry Hammer Arm.

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon can take any two hits from Mega Metagross and in return can proceed to set up Stealth Rock or ever even OHKO with Precipice Blades.

**Primal Kyogre**: Defensive Primal Kyogre can comfortably switch into any of Mega Metagross's attacks apart from Thunder Punch and proceed to inflict heavy damage with Scald.

**Zygarde-C**: Zygarde-C is able to take any hits from Mega Metagross and proceed to deal heavy damage with Thousand Arrows, while the Coil set can use Mega Metagross as setup fodder. However, it must be aware of Ice Punch, (add comma) which can 2HKO Zygarde and 3HKO Zygarde-C forme, while Thousand Arrows is roll to 2HKO.

**Ghost-types**: Mega Sableye can't get 2HKOed by Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross, (add comma) and it can deal back heavy damage with Foul Play. Other Ghost-types like Giratina-O, Lunala, and Mega Gengar can check Mega Metagross, as they as all downright OHKO it with Shadow Force, Moongeist Beam, and Shadow Ball, (add comma) respectively.

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-Oh can easily switch into Mega Metagross and proceed to OHKO it with Sacred Fire. However, it must be wary of Rock Slide and Thunder Punch.

**Dark-types**: Pokemon like Yveltal and Darkrai can offensively check Mega Metagross, (add comma) as they can OHKO it with STAB Dark Pulse.

**Lugia**: While Lugia can't hit Mega Metagross back for much, it can weaken it gradually; (add semicolon) but, however, it does not like getting poisoned by Toxic-ed.
