Meloetta-A

Meloetta-P

Overview
########
  • Signature move Relic Song changes its typing and stats completely when used.
  • Meloetta-A has great Special Bulk coupled with an impressive Special Attack stat.
  • Knock Off buff hurts Meloetta-A, but makes Meloetta-P more viable.
  • Takes a turn of set up to change forms.
  • Meloetta-P outspeeds most of the tier while sporting an above-average Attack stat.
  • Has access to a large variety of support moves.

Sub CM
########
name: Sub CM
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Psyshock
move 4: Thunderbolt / Focus Blast
ability: Serene Grace
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 136 HP / 252 SpA / 120 Spd

Moves
========
  • Calm Mind boosts Meloetta-A's Special Attack and Special Defense to sky high levels.
  • Substitute is a way to avoid status and gets Meloetta-A more opportunities to set up.
  • Psyshock is Meloetta-A's primary STAB move and is a great way to get around AV users and Special walls.
  • Thunderbolt gives good coverage and is a great way to hurt common CM users like Slowbro and Suicune.
  • If bulky Water types are not a problem, then Focus Blast is a good option to prevent Mega Houndoom and Hydreigon from destroying Meloetta-A early in its sweep and is a great way to deal with Umbreon.
  • Hyper Voice and Shadow Ball can be used to get a lot of neutral hits, but it won't be getting a lot more than that.

Set Details
========
  • Speed evs and a Timid nature enable Meloetta-A to out speed Adamant Toxicroak and Adamant Heracross while being able to outpace relevant walls in the tier.
  • Max Special Attack evs to do a ton of damage after a CM or two.
  • The rest of the evs are poured into HP to potentially keep Meloetta-A's Substitute up for another turn.
  • Leftovers are for Meloetta-A to restore health in and out of its Substitute.

Usage Tips
========
  • Meloetta-A can beat popular Calm Mind users like Slowbro and Suicune, so try to set up on them or deal with them quickly with Thunderbolt.
  • Don't set up on threatening pokemon like Hydreigon unless you're behind a Substitute.
  • Watch out for strong Physical attackers. Never stay in on one unless you're behind a Substitute.

Team Options
========
  • Meloetta-A is prone to all forms of hazards, so Forretress and Tentacruel can help by spinning away hazards, but Empoleon and Mew also make great partners as they can Defog them away.
  • Teammates that can cripple the opponents pokemon help as they can present Meloetta-A with more set up opportunities through the means of Paralyzing or Burning opposing pokemon.
  • Meloetta-A is terribly weak to fast and strong Physical attackers, so a Physical Wall would be a great partner to Meloetta-A. Aromatisse and Alomomola can do this well while also providing status support.

Assault Vest
########
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Psyshock
move 2: Hyper Voice
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt
ability: Serene Grace
item: Assault Vest
nature: Modest
evs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

Moves
========
  • Psyshock is main STAB and hits AV users and Special walls for heavy damage.
  • Hyper Voice is second STAB and is good for getting neutral damage.
  • Focus Blast prevents Steel types from walling it and is a good way of getting around Dark types in the tier, most notably Hydreigon and Mega Houndoom.
  • Shadow Ball is a great choice, as it allows Meloetta-A to OHKO Chandelure and Azelf while inflicting heavy damage to Celebi, Metagross and Jirachi and is able to break through Special Walls like Mew with a 40% chance to drop Special Defense due to Serene Grace.
  • Thunderbolt is a great way to get past bulky Water types like Slowbro and Vaporeon.
  • Dazzling Gleam can be used instead of Focus Blast, but is generally an inferior option aside from the increased accuracy as Focus Blast hits much harder and has better coverage.

Set Details
========
  • Max HP evs are to increase Meloetta-A's overall bulkiness and can let it survive some Physical hits.
  • Max Special Attack evs with a Modest nature are to hit as hard as possible while still containing tons of Special bulk.
  • Assault Vest allows Meloetta-A to tank Special Attacks extremely well. It tanks Special Attacks so well that a Choice Specs Timid Hydreigon deals out about 50% of Meloetta-A's HP.
  • Serene Grace gives Meloetta-A more Special Defense drops and Paralysis chances.

Usage Tips
========
  • Don't play recklessly with it, as even though it can wall Special Attackers, it has no reliable recovery.
  • Send out against Special Attackers and try to OHKO or 2HKO them.
  • Meloetta-A can't tank everything well, so watch out for super effective hits from strong pokemon such as Hydreigon and Mega Houndoom.
  • Don't stay in on Physical attackers. Ever.

Team Options
========
  • Pokemon that can tank the Physical hits that Meloetta-A can't are great partners.
  • Meloetta-A appreciates Wish support to increase its longevity.
  • It also appreciates support in the form of Heal Bell or Aromatherapy.
  • Meloetta-A is vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards, so Defog or Rapid Spin support is almost a necessity.
  • Aromatisse is an excellent partner for Meloetta-A as it can take Physical hits rather well and takes a pittance from the Bug and Dark type moves that Meloetta-A is weak against. It also provides Wish and Aromatherapy support.

Physical Sweeper
########
name: Physical Sweeper
move 1: Relic Song
move 2: Close Combat
move 3: Return
move 4: Knock Off
ability: Serene Grace
item: Life Orb
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spd

Moves
========
  • Relic Song is the only way to transform into Meloetta-P and is the most important move in this set. It has a nice 20% chance to make the opposing pokemon fall asleep, so it isn't completely weak.
  • Close Combat is its primary STAB move and can easily punch holes into things.
  • Return is its secondary STAB and gives out strong neutral damage.
  • Knock Off is an amazing coverage move that prevents Ghost types from stopping it and can hit the Psychic types that threaten it very hard.

Set Details
========
  • Max Speed evs and a Jolly nature allows Meloetta-P to outspeed a large majority of the tier.
  • Max Attack evs are to maximize its offensive potential.
  • Adamant can be run over Jolly to increase its damage output, but it loses out on much needed Speed.
  • Life Orb helps it deal as much damage as possible.
  • Serene Grace increases the Sleep chance of Relic Song, which is always nice.

Usage Tips
========
  • It's a great mid to late game cleaner.
  • Avoid using early in the match, as it takes a turn of set up whenever you switch in.
  • Be wary of Choice Scarf Pokemon and Pokemon that naturally outspeed, as they threaten to deal serious damage to it.
  • Don't ever attempt to set up on Ghost types, as they are immune to Relic Song and laugh at Knock Off from Meloetta-A.

Team Options
========
  • Meloetta-P loves hazard control. Sticky Web can reduce the speed of potential Scarfers and Stealth Rocks can help it guarantee OHKO's on pokemon, but Meloetta is vulnerable to all forms of hazards, so keeping them away from its side of the field is appreciated. Forretress can do this to much success.
  • Meloetta-P likes pokemon that can absorb status. Guts Heracross can do this pretty well.
  • Pokemon that can wall Scarfed Pokemon like Darmanitan and Mienshao are very much appreciated. Quagsire and Florges can do this very well.

Other Options
########
  • Mixed set with Relic Song and a combination of Psychic / Psyshock, Close Combat / Drain Punch and Work Up.
  • Bulky AV Meloetta-P with Relic Song, Drain Punch for recovery and Knock Off to deal with Ghost types. Similar to Machamp.
  • A bulky support Meloetta-A with moves like Perish Song, Magic Coat, Heal Bell, Teeter Dance, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Trick Room, Trick, Gravity... the list goes on.
  • Choice Scarf Meloetta-A is a great way to deal with Choice Specs Hydreigon and Meloetta-A can utilize Trick in this way.
  • Choice Specs Meloetta-A dishes out tons of damage and can also utilize Trick.
  • U-turn for scouting out switch ins. Would be used with Scarf sets or bulky AV sets, but Meloetta-A's Attack stat is pretty low.

Checks and Counters
########
  • Fast hard hitting Dark types like Krookodile and Mega Absol can make quick work of Meloetta-A, but they usually can't handle Meloetta-P.
  • Scarfed hard hitting pokemon like Victini and Darmanitan can wreck Meloetta-P and Meloetta-A with their strong Fire type STAB moves.
  • Mega Aerodactyl checks Meloetta-P very well, but must watch out for a Thunderbolt from Meloetta-A.
  • Ghost types wall the Physical Sweeper set completely if it can switch in on a predicted Relic Song because it stops it from transforming into Meloetta-P and Knock Off from a Meloetta-A is really weak.
  • Sableye walls the Sub CM Meloetta-A set if it isn't running Thunderbolt.
  • Strong Physical attackers deal with Meloetta-A and really fast or Scarfed pokemon deal with Meloetta-P.

Meloetta

Meloetta-P

Overview
########
With its large assortment of support moves as well as its signature move Relic Song, Meloetta is able to set itself apart from the rest of the typical Psychic-types in the tier. When used, Relic Song will change the typing and stats of Meloetta completely, turning it into Meloetta-P, a Normal / Fighting type with high Attack and Speed stats. Meloetta-P naturally outspeeds most of the tier and is blessed by the buff to Knock Off, which serves as a good way to hurt Ghost-types that might try to wall it.

However, Meloetta and Meloetta-P have some defining flaws. Meloetta has a below-average Defense stat for a bulky Pokemon and no reliable recovery, which means it can't take powerful attacks. To make matters worse, Meloetta doesn't have a very good Speed stat and is under the constant threat of being outsped. It also takes a turn to transform into Meloetta-P, leaving it open to attacks on that turn, which can cost you the game. Nonetheless, Meloetta is a very versatile Pokemon and, if played right, can be a great addition to any team.

SubCM
########
name: SubCM
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Substitute
move 3: Psyshock
move 4: Thunderbolt / Focus Blast
ability: Serene Grace
item: Leftovers
nature: Timid
evs: 136 HP / 252 SpA / 120 Spe

Moves
========
Meloetta already has amazing Special Attack and Special Defense stats, and Calm Mind boosts these stats to even greater levels, putting offensive pressure on the opponent as well as preparing it for a sweep. Substitute is Meloetta's best way of avoiding status and can give it more setup opportunities, putting further offensive pressure on the opponent. After a Calm Mind boost, Psyshock hits very hard, dealing heavy damage in particular to special walls, Assault Vest users, and opposing Calm Mind users. Thunderbolt hits common Calm Mind users and bulky Water-types for super effective damage and enables Meloetta to easily win Calm Mind wars. If Dark-types are problematic, then Meloetta can use Focus Blast to secure KOs on these threatening Pokemon. Dazzling Gleam can be used as a more accurate way to hit Dark-types and prevent Sableye from walling Meloetta, but it lacks the coverage and the power that Focus Blast has. Hyper Voice and Shadow Ball give perfect neutral coverage, but they don't give many super effective hits.

Set Details
========
A Timid nature and 120 Speed EVs allow Meloetta to outspeed Adamant Heracross and Adamant Toxicroak while also outpacing every relevant wall in the tier. With maximum Special Attack, not many Pokemon can take a hit from +1 Meloetta-A. The remaining HP EVs give Meloetta a little more bulk and can potentially keep its Substitute up for another turn. Leftovers is the best Meloetta has for reliable recovery and can help the latter take another hit if it needs to.

Usage Tips
========
Meloetta can beat opposing Calm Mind users like Suicune and Slowbro, so set up Calm Mind boosts on them or try to deal with them quickly with Thunderbolt. Don't stay in on strong Pokemon like Hydreigon or Houndoom unless Meloetta is behind a Substitute; in that case, try to take them out quickly with Focus Blast.

Team Options
========
Meloetta is vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards, so Rapid Spinners such as Forretress and Tentacruel and Defog users such as Mew and Empoleon can help by removing entry hazards. Pokemon like Sableye and Jirachi can burn or paralyze opposing Pokemon, respectively, to potentially give Meloetta another setup opportunity. Physical walls such as Slowbro can stop the strong physical attackers that would otherwise tear Meloetta apart and are thus great teammates for it. Aromatisse and Alomomola are excellent physical walls that can also provide status support.

Assault Vest
########
name: Assault Vest
move 1: Psyshock
move 2: Hyper Voice
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt
ability: Serene Grace
item: Assault Vest
nature: Modest
evs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD

Moves
========
Psyshock is Meloetta's primary STAB move and hits opposing Assault Vest users and specially defensive walls for heavy damage. Hyper Voice is a secondary STAB move that is great at getting strong neutral damage. Focus Blast prevents Steel-type Pokemon from walling Meloetta and is an excellent way of destroying Dark-type switch-ins. Shadow Ball inflicts a lot of damage to Pokemon like Celebi and Metagross and is excellent at breaking specially defensive walls like Mew thanks to Serene Grace, which gives it a 40% chance to lower Special Defense. Thunderbolt is an excellent way of getting past bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Vaporeon and can OHKO most Flying-types. If Sableye is troublesome, then Meloetta can opt for Dazzling Gleam over Focus Blast, but it gives Meloetta less power and coverage.

Set Details
========
248 HP EVs give Meloetta an extra Stealth Rock switch-in while also maximizing its bulk. With maximum Special Attack and a Modest nature, Meloetta can deal lots of damage while also retaining excellent special bulk thanks to Assault Vest; for instance, Choice Specs Hydreigon barely manages a 2HKO on Meloetta. Serene Grace gives Meloetta the ability to wallbreak opposing Pokemon with Special Defense drops from Focus Blast and Shadow Ball while also giving Thunderbolt a higher chance to paralyze opposing Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========
Don't use Meloetta recklessly, as even though it can take special attacks extremely well, it has no reliable recovery. Ideally, it should switch into a neutral special attack and deal out as much damage as possible while trying to avoid physical hits and strong special attacks.

Team Options
========
Pokemon that can take the physical hits that Meloetta can't make great teammates. Cleric support in the form of Wish and Heal Bell or Aromatherapy can help increase Meloetta's longevity drastically. Meloetta doesn't want to take excessive damage because it has no reliable recovery, so it appreciates the support that Pokemon like Blastoise and Aerodactyl can provide by getting rid of entry hazards using Rapid Spin or Defog respectively. Aromatisse is an excellent partner for Meloetta due to its nifty resistances to Dark- and Bug-type moves, its ability to take physical hits rather well, and its access to Wish and Aromatherapy.

Physical Sweeper
########
name: Physical Sweeper
move 1: Relic Song
move 2: Close Combat
move 3: Return
move 4: Knock Off
ability: Serene Grace
item: Life Orb
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Moves
========
Relic Song is the most important move in this set as it allows Meloetta to transform into Meloetta-P, and thankfully, it has a 20% chance to make the opposing Pokemon fall asleep as well, so it isn't an entirely useless move. Close Combat is Meloetta-P's main STAB move and can effectively punch holes in teams. Return gives Meloetta-P a strong STAB move that hits much of the metagame neutrally. Knock Off is Meloetta-P's best way of dealing with Ghost-types that would otherwise wall it, also hitting the Psychic-types that threaten it for heavy damage.

Set Details
========
With maximum Speed investment and a Jolly nature, Meloetta-P outspeeds most of the tier after transforming. Maximum Attack gives Meloetta-P the power to pound through the opposition with relative ease. A Jolly nature is preferred to enable Meloetta-P to outspeed as much as possible, but an Adamant nature can be run to give it even more power. Life Orb helps Meloetta-P dish out as much damage as it can and guarantees 2HKOs on Pokemon like Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage. Relic Song gets a 20% chance to make the opposing Pokemon fall asleep thanks to Serene Grace.

Usage Tips
========
Meloetta-P is an excellent mid- to late-game cleaner and can play mind games with the opponent as to whether Meloetta is going to transform or not. Try to avoid using Meloetta-P early in the match because it takes a turn to transform every time it switches in. Try to use Meloetta-P after Choice Scarf users and Pokemon that naturally outspeed it are taken out.

Team Options
========
Entry hazards like Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Sticky Web can help Meloetta-P in its sweep immensely by securing OHKOs for it and slowing down potentially Choice Scarf users. Shuckle can provide Stealth Rock and Sticky Web support, and while Forretress can provide Stealth Rock and Spikes support. Meloetta-P hates status, so Pokemon that can absorb status like Guts Heracross can be great teammates. Meloetta-P can't outspeed Choice Scarf users, so a Pokemon that can wall them, such as Quagsire or Florges, are appreciated.

Other Options
########
A mixed attacking set with Relic Song, Work Up, Psychic, and Close Combat could work well, but switching between formes with Relic Song can be difficult. Meloetta-P can go for a bulky Assault Vest set with Relic Song, Drain Punch, Knock Off, and a filler move, but once again, Relic Song makes it difficult to use this set effectively. Meloetta has a huge support movepool that can be utilized well with its incredible special bulk, but with threats like Mega Houndoom and Hydreigon roaming the tier, it's difficult to use well. A Choice Scarf set can make good use of Meloetta's incredible Special Attack stat while somewhat mitigating its measly base 90 Speed. A Choice Specs set would make Meloetta an incredibly strong wallbreaker, but it's usually outclassed in that role by Exploud. Choice sets can use Trick to cripple opponents. U-turn is a great scouting move, but Meloetta's Attack stat is pretty low, and it is usually better off firing a powerful special attack.

Checks and Counters
########
**Dark-types**: Fast, hard-hitting Dark-types like Mega Absol and Krookodile can easily wipe out Meloetta, but they have difficulty getting around Meloetta-P.

**Physical Attackers**: Powerful physical attackers such as Darmanitan and Flygon can outspeed and deal heavy damage to Meloetta, if not KO it off the bat.

**Choice Scarfed Pokemon**: Common Choice Scarf users such as Victini and Mienshao can threaten to outspeed and KO both Meloetta formes.

**Mega Aerodactyl**: Mega Aerodactyl gets a special mention for being able to naturally outspeed Meloetta-P and OHKO with Aerial Ace.

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Chandelure wall Meloetta-P; thanks to their immunity to Relic Song, Meloetta can't transform, and Knock Off will deal poor damage coming off its abysmal base 77 Attack stat.

**Sableye**: Sableye completely walls any set lacking Dazzling Gleam and can simply stall out both formes with Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Recover.

I want QC to give some opinions on a few things. First, the Calm Mind set. I'm not sure if that's a very viable set (I said it wasn't because of Knock Off), but some people seem to think it's amazing. Second, Choiced sets. Not sure if outclassed or not, but it can cripple threats with Trick. Also, Specs hits very hard. Third, the Checks and Counters section. I feel like it should be split into 2 parts because Meloetta-A and Meloetta-P have very different checks and counters. I want to get approval on the third point as soon as possible. Calloflochie I'm tagging you because I want this to be QC ready, but I want an opinion on the Checks and Counters section.

-Add ghost types to checking that LO set cause without Relic Song activated Knock off coming from Meloetta-A is much, much weaker than that coming from Meloetta-P
-I think adding a Sub CM Meloetta could be very useful since it beats pretty much every other CM'er in the tier since;
4 SpA Slowbro Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Meloetta: 70-84 (20.5 - 24.6%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
at no point will Slowbro be breaking your sub if you're at even CM levels and obviously you would invest in HP too in order to counteract this.
252 SpA Meloetta Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro: 234-276 (59.3 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
While Stock Tbolt (so when CM boosts are equivalent) is a clean 2HKO and you outspeed so you are pretty much guaranteed to win this.
Note at +6 Psyshock obviously does more but you can easily 2HKO Slowbro before it becomes out of hand with CM boosts so that isn't too much of a problem + you can avoid crits better than Slowbro can
-Same thing applies to stuff like Suicune as well
-The set would be Sub/CM/Psyshock/Tbolt @ Leftovers. Evs would be 136HP/252SpA/120Speed Timid which is enough to outspeed base 85's without a + speed nature such as Adamant Toxicroak, Adamant Hera and also is guaranteed to outspeed shit like SpDef Mew so it can set up fast subs on pretty much every relevant wall in the tier.
-Obviously for C&C each set has different counters, so until the set of meloetta is known it's hard to ascertain what walls it and what doesn't like Physical Walls would wall the Melo-P but not Melo-A however Special walls such as Knock Off Mew and Umbreon are going to be able to deal with Melo-A but don't really want to be switching to a Knock Off or STAB Close Combat, so basically Melo-P/A have regular counters to the physical/special sets but that area of unpredictability is what makes Melo a cooler mon and one that can actually be quite threatening

That's all for now, i'll have a better look at the other aspects of the analysis later :]

Sub CM is probably the best set Meloetta can run. Mention/Slash U-Turn in the Assault Vest set to build momentum when the opponent switches out finding it can't do much to meloetta. A specs set might be worth it but it seems outclassed by Porygon Z bar the cooler movepool and better bulk

As a fan of Meloetta, please do her justice. :3
Anyway, I love the offensive set, you hit all of the key points of the power of Meloetta-P. Spot on with the hazards point too, that's the key to success with Meloetta is Sticky Web. :D Keep up the good work!

Thank you everyone for the comments. U-turn seems like a good option, but Meloetta-A has a pitifully low Attack stat and being vulnerable to all forms of hazards doesn't help much either. I'll mention U-turn in OO.

Assault Vest is overall better than Sub/CM. Put it as the first set.

Move the mixed set out of OO and put it above the physical attacker set:

Mixed Attacker
########
name: Mixed Attacker
move 1: Relic Song
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Thunderbolt
move 4: Knock Off / Thunderbolt
item: Life Orb
evs: 252 Atk / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
nature: Timid

Note that I haven't listed the ability. This is because it only has one ability, so there is no point listing it and you won't get penalised for that. Make sure to say that the form you will spend the most time in depends on the move in the fourth moveslot in usage tips.

Actually, the evs aren't great on the mixed set that I posted. If anyone else can give better EVs, feel free to as I currently do not have the time to get an entire spread for this guy.

You have Thunderbolt twice on that set. Might want a second slash for the third move slot. Also, I heard Sub CM was a lot better. I'll discuss this again in irc though. The mixed attacker got mixed thoughts (lol), but I guess I can touch up on that in irc as well. Thank you for the recommendations.

The mixed attacker would be 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spd or 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spd depending on whether it's Physically or Specially inclined, but I still want to discuss this first.

AV should be the first set because it is the most functional, also mention alomomola in particular as a wish passer as not only does it pass giant wishes but it synergizes with meloetta very well.

Alomomola doesn't really resist what Meloetta is weak against, but Aromatisse has excellent synergy with Meloetta as they cover most of their weaknesses / resistances. Wish passing is on Team Options, so no need to worry about that.

I think people say that AV is better than the rest of the sets because it's "overall better" or that it's "the most functional", but let me make something clear. Just because the AV set is the only set for Meloetta in the OU analysis thread doesn't mean that it's the best set in this tier. Again, let me talk to people about it in irc, but Sub CM is staying at the top for now.

that is by no means what I am trying to say to be honest I hate ou, but that aside av is the most functional because of the fact it can take any special hit, if it takes a strong dark pulse before you sub then thats a problem as meloetta's a tad slow. Calm mind is good but it's not up to par with assault vest,

You aren't supposed to set up on pokemon that threaten you.
252 SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Meloetta: 206-246 (50.9 - 60.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. +1 136 HP / 0 SpD Meloetta: 206-246 (54.9 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Meloetta can tank hits almost as much as it could before, but with Calm Mind, it has more offensive presence and with Substitute, it isn't vulnerable to status.

Edit: Wow, my 100th post. That went by fast.

Dazzling Gleam has less coverage than Focus Blast and OHKO's Hydreigon anyway. Also, that was Choice Specs Hydreigon. If you have to stay in on it, then you can take a hit and OHKO back.

Psyshock/Thunderbolt (Your first slash on Sub + CM) is fully walled by Hydreigon, and the Focus Blast set has to put up with 70% Accuracy and tanking a Dark Pulse, which takes most of your health.

Also, just looking at it, a lot of these descriptions are too short.

HypnoEmpire

Yokatta...
I tried buffing out some of the descriptions a bit more. Also, I gave Dazzling Gleam a spot in Moves as it loses out on power and coverage, but it has perfect accuracy. I will not slash it.

Meloetta absolutely hates the presence of Dark-types; Krookodile, Weavile, and Zoroark can all outspeed and KO it, while Honchkrow can take it out with Sucker Punch. Meloetta is also hindered by the presence of Escavalier, which can take Meloetta's onslaughts pretty well and retaliate with a powerful Megahorn or Pursuit. If Meloetta is not using Shadow Ball, Cresselia walls it to no end and can cripple it with Thunder Wave or even set up its own Calm Minds. Snorlax is a thorn in Meloetta's side as well, with its huge special bulk allowing it to survive numerous hits and phaze with Whirlwind, undoing all of Meloetta's Calm Mind boosts. Heracross can smash Meloetta with Megahorn, which also grants it a free Attack boost, but it must be wary of Psychic. Finally, thanks to Meloetta's middling Defense stat, powerful physical attackers such as Darmanitan and Mienshao can hit it very hard with their attacks.
