Metagame Mergemons

Hey simsims2800, this is the Leader's Choice :)!
Oh...
OH MY GOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This is HUGE for the exposure of Mergemons. Hopefully we can get more discussion, get the ball rolling, and get people playing the meta!

Edit: Also, my birthday is in February. Neat little coincidence. I guess this is kinda like a birthday present?

Double edit: The Immortal I found a bug. Marowak-A is paired with Hitmonlee, and Marowak-A can learn Belly Drum according to Showdown, but...

Triple edit:

Except for the fact that...
  1. Scolipede is with Leavanny, which learns Sticky Web
  2. Kyurem is with Landorus, which learns Grass Knot and Calm Mind
  3. Muk-A is with Cloyster, which learns Rapid Spin
  4. AZUMARILL CAN LEARN AQUA JET NORMALLY WTF TI
The Immortal pls

The implementation uses the PS! dex order, which is based on Pokedex number.
I was wondering how this would work... but even accepting that, you seem to have a few bugs:
  • Any fully Pokémon can learn any move learned by any fully evolved Pokémon that precedes it in the PSdex
  • NFEs aren't covered
  • Sketch doesn't seem to be handled properly
Code:
'use strict';

exports.BattleScripts = {
	init: function () {
		let learnsets = Object.assign({}, this.data.Learnsets);
		let dex = [];
		for (let i in this.data.Pokedex) {
			if (this.data.Pokedex[i].num <= 0) continue;
			if (this.data.Pokedex[i].evos) continue;
			if (!learnsets[i]) continue;
			if (this.data.FormatsData[i].isUnreleased) continue;
			if (this.data.FormatsData[i].tier === 'Illegal') continue;
			dex.push(i);
		}
		dex.push(dex[0], dex[1]);
		for (let i = 2; i < dex.length; i++) {
			for (let target = dex[i - 1]; target; target = this.data.Pokedex[target].prevo) {
				let learnset = this.modData('Learnsets', target).learnset;
				for (let j = i - 2; j <= i; j++) {
					for (let source = dex[j]; source; source = this.data.Pokedex[source].prevo) {
						for (let move in learnsets[source].learnset) {
							if (move !== 'sketch') learnset[move] = [this.gen + 'T'];
							else if (!learnset[move]) learnset[move] = ['5E'];
						}
					}
				}
			}
		}
	},
}
Edit: Now hopefully handling egg and prevo moves too.

Is it in fact helping that all of these people are posting their own stories about how broken the team authenticator is? My inclination is to say no, and to wait a little while for The Immortal to fix it. If I was reading through this thread a year from now I wouldn't want to sift through all this stuff I promise you.

EDIT: Also BAN Shell Smash to hell from being merged. Things like Scizor get strong priority and decent bulk alongside it meaning that even most priority isn't going to stop it.

252+ Atk Life Orb Galvanize Golem-Alola Fake Out vs. -1 0 HP / 4 Def Scizor-Mega: 121-142 (43 - 50.5%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Galvanize Golem-Alola Feint vs. -1 0 HP / 4 Def Scizor-Mega: 90-107 (32 - 38%) -- 93.5% chance to 3HKO
Life Orb Golem-Alola can revenge with a good amount of prior damage
252+ Atk Aerilate Pinsir-Mega Fake Out vs. -1 0 HP / 4 Def Scizor-Mega: 109-130 (38.7 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
In even worse of a pickle.

This is ignoring the fact that you probably won't be running max speed on Scizor and thus will probably have some bulk. I'd recommend either 244 speed evs to outrun scarf based 100s at +2 or 140 to outspeed Pheromosa at +2... not that you need to outside of Psychic Terrain. You could also run 48 to outspeed Tapu Koko at +2. Or find something you want to outspeed premega.

rock (Scizor-Mega) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash (from Shuckle; boosts speed and power for sweep)
- Pin Missile (from Qwilfish; most powerful STAB option, breaks sashes and sturdy)
- Bullet Punch (priority, pushes past revenge killers)
- Earthquake (from Shuckle; powerful coverage option for steel types and fire types. Superpower also works here.)

Scizor isn't the point of this post. Gengar is also really strong. So is Mega Heracross, Silvally, and probably a bunch of things I'm missing. Shell Smash is too strong in almost every meta that expands access to it, from Sketchmons to STABmons to a ton of lesser known metas. I think it's pretty obviously banworthy and will not be resisted much, if at all. Does anyone have reasons it should stay? I'd be happy to hear.

Okay, I can't promise that this is the ONLY problem, but I've isolated what seems to be the main issue with the authenticator right now. It appears that it's only checking to see if the moves are legal as level up and TM moves. Egg moves and moves learned via level up as a prior evolution are all coming up as illegal. I suspect the issue might extend to moves only available from an earlier generation and/or event exclusive move as well, which might explain the issue I was having with Serperior a couple of days ago. Once again tagging The Immortal now that I've isolated something specific, yet possibly expansive enough for the problem to be solved.

Umm, I think Greninja's Bugged; it can't get anything from Delphox. I'm not sure though, so could anyone explain?

Does anyone even read the tittle?

Also something I haven't seen anyone talk about, Wishiwashi gets Recover.

Even as I love meta-breaking shenanigans, I'd have to agree. After a Shell Smash everything with an attacking stat higher than 100 is going to sweep the team unless there is a Focus sash and a fire type move (against Scizor), or an Unaware user. There aren't even very good Unaware users out there besides Clefable, and even that can be easily dispatched:
252+ Atk Technician Scizor-Mega Bullet Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 212-252 (53.9 - 64.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

also Mega Heracross is unreleased

PS treats Greninja and Battle Bond Greninja as separate Pokémon, so regular Greninja merges with Delphox (and Battle Bond Greninja, not that it matters), while Battle Bond Greninja merges with regular Greninja (so gets all of its egg and past gen moves) and Diggersby.

Cosmoem @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Atk / 124 Def / 124 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Moonlight

Not sure how Cosmoem works, like does it get Solgaleo's, Lunala's AND Nihilego's movesets?
Now comes with not so reliable recovery in Morning Sun/Moonlight.
Because of Nihilego and Solgaleo, I would prefer physical, but you can run special or even mixed attacker.
Also, setting rocks or t-spikes is fun.

EDIT: Also, it gets access to Fini, but I can't say there's anything there or it to use.
Misty Terrain maybe?

dude
the right choice with cosmoem is to do this

Cosmoem @ Eviolite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock (Nihilego)
- Roost (Lunala)
- Defog (Tapu Fini)
- Will-O-Wisp (Lunala)

you're still dealing with base 29 offensive stats and base 37 speed, so attacking is not an option
it's also an NFE, so its bulk is stupid with eviolite
other options include stuff like t-wave (solgaleo), toxic (everything), roar (solgaleo), taunt (fini), and t-spikes (nihilego)
maybe magic coat (lunala) because this little bugger is the biggest taunt bait this side of the mississippi

just
DON'T USE IT

Oh gosh, Serperior is utterly borked. Contrary Leaf Storm, Draco, Overheat, V create AND SUPERPOWER? WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?!

Edit: apparently, Serperior does not get Drac, nor does Empoleon get Slack off. I am confuse

Rewrote the code. It should be working now!

Code:
'use strict';

exports.BattleScripts = {
    init: function () {
        let learnsets = Object.assign({}, this.data.Learnsets);
        let dex = [];
        for (let i in this.data.Pokedex) {
            if (this.data.Pokedex[i].num <= 0) continue;
            if (this.data.Pokedex[i].evos) continue;
            if (!learnsets[i]) continue;
            if (this.data.FormatsData[i].isUnreleased) continue;
            if (this.data.FormatsData[i].tier && this.data.FormatsData[i].tier === 'Illegal') continue;
            dex.push(i);
        }
        for (let i = 0; i < dex.length; i++) {
            let pokemon = dex[i];
            while (this.data.Pokedex[pokemon].prevo) {
                pokemon = this.data.Pokedex[pokemon].prevo;
            }
            let target = dex[(i === 0 ? dex.length - 1 : i - 1)];
            let merge = false;
            do {
                let learnset = learnsets[target].learnset;
                for (let move in learnset) {
                    let source = learnset[move][0].charAt(0) + 'L0';
                    if (!(move in learnsets[pokemon].learnset)) this.modData('Learnsets', pokemon).learnset[move] = [source];
                }
                if (this.data.Pokedex[target].prevo) {
                    target = this.data.Pokedex[target].prevo;
                } else if (!merge) {
                    merge = true;
                    target = dex[(i === dex.length - 1 ? 0 : i + 1)];
                } else {
                    target = null;
                }
            } while (target && learnsets[target]);
        }
    },
};

I'd like to suggest Cosmoem be added to the threat list - it gets every single one of Tapu Fini, Solgaleo, Lunala, and Nihilego's moves, resulting in an incredible movelist - Mean Look, Haze, Whirlpool, Soak, Refresh, Defog, Nature's Madness, Toxic, Light Screen, Protect, Torment, Scald, Sleep Talk, Roar, Rest, Hypnosis, Night Shade, Magic Coat, Roost, Sky Drop, Thunder Wave, Power Split, Clear Smog, Toxic Spikes, and Stealth Rock. Its utility is goddamn endless, and with Night Shade and Nature's Madness it's not particularly vulnerable to taunt.

EDIT: Ugh, should have read the thread in more detail. Nonetheless, I stand by its immense ability to function in this meta, and it does indeed get all of Tapu Fini, Lunala, Solgaleo, and Nihilego's moves.

two words

knock
off

i rest my case

Night Shade and Psywave stop it being complete taunt bait, Knock Off didn't push Chansey out of OU and it's not ruining it here.

Furthering the Eviolite hype, Murkrow has Prankster Defog unbanned now, and in ADDITION to that, it gets Destiny Bond, Heal Bell, Magic Coat, Mean Look, Memento, Nasty Plot, Pain Split, Psych Up, Trick, Trick Room, Will-o-Wisp, Block, Gravity, Heal Block, Hypnosis, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Metal Sound, Reflect, Rock Polish, Skill Swap, and Stealth Rock with prankster. Which is fucking impressive.

Also Aron gets Bullet Punch from Medicham, allowing Shell Bell with Endeavor, Bullet Punch, Protect, and Toxic. Sure, it's a gimmick, but it's a fun one.
