Mienshao

Overview
########

Mienshao has very good Attack and Speed, which makes it a dangerous Pokemon to come up against. Mienshao not only hits very hard, but also supports the team by using helpful status moves. However, Mienshao is very frail and has many checks and counters.

Moves
========

Fake Out is essential on any Mienshao set, as it plays a huge role in VGC. Fake Out almost always causes the foe to flinch, allowing your Pokemon to set up, avoid a dangerous attack, and get rid of Focus Sashes. High Jump Kick is one of Mienshao's preferred STAB moves due to its high damage output. However, a major flaw of this move is that Mienshao loses 50% of its HP if it misses or if the foe uses Protect. Low Sweep is the second best physical STAB attack because it has a 100% chance to lower the opposing Pokemon's Speed, which can be very useful for outspeeding Pokemon. Rock Slide provides great coverage against Flying-types, but Knock Off gives Mienshao a great way to attack Psychic- and Ghost-types. Removing the target's item as well is a great bonus. Quick Guard can be used to stop Talonflame's deadly priority STAB Flying-type attacks and other priority moves. Also, Pokemon with Prankster will be stopped by Quick Guard. If you're having trouble dealing with attacks that affect all the Pokemon in the field, such as Earthquake, Rock Slide, Discharge, Surf, or Boomburst, you can replace Quick Guard with Wide Guard.

Set Details
========

252 Attack and Speed EVs are used so Mienshao can hit as hard and fast as possible. 4 HP EVs are important because if Mienshao misses High Jump Kick two times without getting damaged, it will still have 1 HP remaining. Inner Focus works well to prevent Mienshao from getting flinched by Fake Out. Because Mienshao is so frail, it appreciates Focus Sash, which prevents it from being OHKOed by any attack. The nature is Jolly so Mienshao can outspeed anything below base 105 Speed, such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Charizard Y.

Usage Tips
========

This is a pretty standard offensive support set which allows Mienshao to hit hard and support the team as well. Focus Sash gives Mienshao a chance to take a free hit. Pokemon such as Garchomp, Zapdos, and Mega Charizard Y usually have spread moves, so keep Wide Guard in mind in these situations. Rock Slide and High Jump Kick allow Mienshao to KO Mega Charizard Y and Mega Kangaskhan, respectively. Mienshao can also help its teammates set up by using Fake Out on the first turn. Use Mienshao to check Bisharp, Mega Gyarados, Hydreigon, Liepard, Smeargle, Mega Charizard Y, Tyranitar, and Mega Kangaskhan for your team.

Team Options
========

Mienshao works great as a lead and can give your team an early advantage with Fake Out so its teammates can set up or freely attack. Wide Guard and Quick Guard shield the team from multi-hit and priority attacks, respectively. Wide Guard helps Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y avoid Rock Slide, or Aegislash from Earthquake and Heat Wave. Quick Guard helps Pokemon that are weak to priority, such as Tyranitar against Mach Punch or Aegislash against Sucker Punch. If you need a fast physical attacker, Mienshao hits hard with its base 125 Attack and outspeeds many Pokemon with its base 105 Speed.

Other Options
########

U-turn is an option so Mienshao can scout the opponent's Pokemon and escape danger while doing a little damage. Life Orb is an option for Mienshao so it can do high damage to its targets. Reckless works great with High Jump Kick if you're trying to do huge amounts of damage. Taunt alongside Mienshao's Speed is another good option to avoid status moves such as Spore, Will-O-Wisp, and Thunder Wave. If you want to have a secure damaging attack, Feint is the way to go if you want to break through Protect, Detect, Wide Guard, Quick Guard, Spiky Shield, and King's Shield.

Checks & Counters
########

**Flying-types**: Mega Pinsir and Talonflame's priority attacks can easily OHKO Mienshao.

**Psychic-types**: Bulky Psychic-types that can take any of Mienshao's attacks, such as Gothitelle and Reuniclus, are good checks.

**Ghost-types**: Aegislash is a huge counter to Mienshao because it takes little or no damage from all of Mienshao's attacks.

**Fairy-types**: Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Sylveon, Aromatisse, and Florges can take Mienshao's STAB attacks and retaliate with their STAB Fairy attacks.

**Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp and Protect**: Especially from Prankster users, Will-O-Wisp can make Mienshao's Attack stat useless. Protect can get in the way of Mienshao's STAB High Jump Kick.

**Trick Room**: Trick Room makes Mienshao's good Speed a liability and makes Mienshao extremely vulnerable.

The set isn't very good, the spacing is all messed up, and the analysis needs to be in bullet points at this stage. The spacing should be:

and so on.

Also, how is Quick Guard unexpected on Mienshao? Pretty much all supportive Mienshao carry either Quick or Wide Guard, if not both tbh.

You are also forgetting to add inner focus. The ability to have the ability to taunt smeargle without worrying about fake out is good.

Read through my comments, and then copy and paste the set from below.
  • Remove Jump Kick, and don't even give it an OO mention: there is literally no reason to run it. Also, remove Low Sweep and stick it in the moves section of the set. It is a gimmick at best tbh. Add Drain Punch to moves above Low Sweep too.
  • Also, something that I think would be good for the set would be to slash a single guard with Rock Slide, with Rock Slide listed twice (as shown below) while slashing Knock Off in with both.
  • Change the ordering of the moves (listed below)
  • Remove Reckless. Inner Focus is too valuable for Mienshao to pass up. Put its other abilities in set details.
  • Replace Mienshao with Offensive in the set name. It is a given: if a person didn't want to use Mienshao, they wouldn't be looking at Mienshao's analysis.
  • Remove Wide Lens. That item is just... no. Replace it with Focus Sash.
  • You need to sort out the EV ordering. Also, that is not why you run 4 HP: it is just to increase its bulk a little as you will probably get hit: making the survival of a second HJK miss not really much of an issue (besides: the chances of that happening are so low that the only time that should happen is if you get outpredicted with Ghost-types/Protect.
When you've made those edits, the set should look like this (feel free to c/p the set bit and add to the other sections - remember to say why the moves/abilities aren't recommended when doing moves/set details-only mentions):

Offensive Support
########
name: Offensive Support

move 2: Fake Out
move 3: Quick Guard / Rock Slide / Knock Off
move 4: Wide Guard / Rock Slide / Knock Off

nature: Jolly

Moves-only mentions
========

-Drain Punch
-Low Sweep

Set Details-only mentions
========

-Regenerator
-Reckless

The overview isn't where you summarize the moves it gets: you look at the characteristics of the pokemon and say what is good and what is bad. You put things like this there:

[Pros]
-Good offensive typing
-High offensive stats
-High speed
-Access to great supportive moves like Quick Guard, Wide Guard and Fake Out, as well as being fast enough to block all Fake Outs with the former

[Cons]
-Extremely frail
-Weak to the common Flying-type (although this is somewhat alleviated by Quick Guard blocking Talonflame's Brave Bird)
-Only usable STAB is a double-edged sword

Those are the kinds of things that you should see in the overview. Try and keep it fairly concise as people don't want to be trawling through 50 bullet points. I'd say a max of 5 points in pros, and the same for cons.

When writing OO, make sure to mention a mixed attacking set with HJK/Aura Sphere, HP Ice, Rock Slide and Fake Out (works due to Mienshao's base 95 SpA) and a fully offensive set with HJK, Rock Slide, Fake Out and Knock Off (it gets it through egg).

your overview is waaaaay too long. just list general things mienshao can do instead of listing its moves lol

this is what the set should look like. low sweep should be the second best fighting move since mienshao really doesn't have any business healing itself and you're dropping any semblance of power when you drop high jump kick. high jump kick mienshao is a huge draw considering how it can outspeed and ohko kang while avoiding a flinch from fake out, and not much else can do that outside of scarf sawk. knock off is for swordmon and the protect move should be relegated to the last slot, though they can spill over to the third slot if needed. life orb can go in OO since sash is the most generally useful item and LO is probably better used on stuff like talonflame and hydreigon. reckless can go right there next to life orb since kang and company are already nuked hard by HJK so at that point you're gunning for the KO on rotom.

in set details, mention feint, rock tomb, and taunt as stuff for that third or fourth slot. feint to go through protect for the partner (good for stuff like mence), rock tomb to still hit zard and bird while getting some speed control, and taunt for being taunt. it's probably better than knock off to poop on subsword anyway tpth.

you don't actually list any pokemon to go with mienshao in team options. list stuff like charizard (both forms, and mention the different roles they fill) and such. a lot of mons appreciate fake out support so im sure this section wont take too much to fill out

for OO, take out taunt and add aura sphere (for a special set, probably the best option for anyone that pusses out of HJK) with hidden power ice next to it, poison jab for gardevoir/azumarill, stone edge for more damage on rotom-h, sunny day to help out charizard vs rain, and low sweep/drain punch for more mediocre HJK substitutes

for checks/counters... don't be lazy and use specific examples.

Sorry guys I was up all night writing it up, but an error happened and I have to re-write it up. I'll try to finish it up once again right now.

Fake Out is pretty essential on any Mienshao set, (AC) as since Fake Out plays a huge role in VGC. Fake Out will 100% flinch an opponents Pokemon and allow your Pokemon to do things such as set up, avoid a dangerous attack, (AC) and get rid of Focus Sashes users. High Jump Kick is probably one of Mienshao's preferred STAB moves due to its high damage. However a major flaw in this move is crash damage which is seen in many cases caused by Protect or just missing. Low Sweep is the second best move for a STAB physical attack since because it has a 100% chance to lower the opposing Pokemon's Speed, (AC) which can come be very useful for outspeeding Pokemon. Not only this move has 100% accuracy as well, but this also allows fast Pokemon to be slowed down and can give your Pokemon an easier time in controlling the speed tier. This is pretty much what you just said Rock slide provides great coverage against Flying-types, (comma) but another option is Knock Off. After Knock Off received the incredible buff this generation, Thanks to Knock Off, Mienshao has Physical Fighting types have a great way to attack Psychic- and Ghost-types. In combination of such a great move and great attack, Mienshao can use the move to inflict some serious damage to psychic types; Removing its the target's item as well is a great bonus. Quick Guard can be used to stop Talonflame's deadly priority STAB Flying type attacks or any other priority type attacks. Also, Pokemon with Prankster will be stopped by Quick Guard have a lot more trouble in dealing with your team because Quick Guard will stop them. If you're having trouble with dealing with attacks that affect all the Pokemon in the field, (AC) such as attacks like Earthquake, Rock Slide, Discharge, Surf, or Boomburst, etc; you can replace the Quick Guard with Wide Guard.

Set Details

252 Attack and Speed EVs are for so Mienshao can hit as hard and fast as possible. And 252 Speed Ev's for the extra speed. Also the 4 HP EVs are important because if Mienshao misses High Jump Kick two times without getting damaged by another poke, it will still have at least 1 HP remaining so you pretty much can have 3 chances till you faint from crash damage. Inner Focus works well if you think Mienshao could get to prevent Mienshao from getting flinched from Fake Out. Since Because Mienshao is so frail, Focus Sash prevents it from being 1-Hit KO-ed OHKOed from any attack. The nature is Jolly so Mienshao can outspeed anything below base speed 105 Speed such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Charizard Y.

Usage Tips
========

This is a pretty standard offensive support set which allows Mienshao to hit hard and support the team as well. Having a Focus Sash gives you Mienshao a chance to take a free hit. Team Options

Mienshao works great as a lead and can give your team an early advantage with Fake Out so Pokemon can set up or freely attack. Wide Guard & and Quick Guard help shield the team greatly from priority/multi-hit attacks, (AC) which helps Pokemon like such as Mega Charizard Y avoid from Rock Slide, or Aegislash from Earthquake and Heat Wave, etc. Quick Guard helps alongside Pokemon that are weak to priority such as Tyranitar against Mach Punch or Aegislash against Sucker Punch. You can use U-turn so Mienshao can scout the opponent's Pokemon and escape danger while doing a little damage. Life Orb is an optional for Mienshao so it can do ridiculous damage so to whichever Pokemon is taking a hit from Mienshao, it won't be easy. Reckless works great with High Jump Kick if you're trying to do huge amounts of damage. Taunt alongside Meinshao's Speed is another good option to avoid the chance of status moves such as Spore, Will-O-Wisp, (AC) and Thunder Wave. If you want to have a secure damaging attack, Feint is the way to go if you want to break through avoid things like Protect/Detect, Wide/Quick Guard, (AC) and Spiky/Kings Shield which also nullifies there protection for the whole turn.

Checks & Counters
########

**Flying-types**: Mega Pinsir and Taloneflame's priority can easily OHKO Mienshao 1-HitKO with their stab.

**Psychic-types**: Pokemon that set up trick room and/or are very bulky such as Gothitelle and Reuniclus are pretty tough checks. This isn't really talking about Psychic-types, but about Trick Room?

**Ghost-types**: Aegislash is a huge counter against Mienshao because it takes little or no damage from all of Mienshao's attacks since it pretty much makes all of its attacks useless.

**Fairy-types**: Pokemon such as Gardevoir, Sylveon, Aromatisse, (AC) and Florges can take Mienshao's STAB attacks damage and retaliate with due super effective damage back.

**Pokemon with Will-O-Wisp and Protect**: Especially from Prankster users, Will-O-Wisp can make Mienshao's Attack stat useless. Protect can get int the way of Mienshao's STAB High Jump Kick move.
