[OVERVIEW]

**Dragon**

Strong revenge killer with a choice scarf and great coverage, which allows it to outspeed almost the entire metagame and hit hard with powerful special attacks
Nice check to the many powerful and popular fighting type pokemon such as Mega-medicham, Mega-Lopony, Terrakion and Heracross, and to poison types such as Mega-Venusaur, Gengar, and Nidoking
Can also cripple bulky walls with trick
Psychic typing causes it problems as it is vulnerable to Knock off, U-turn and pursuit trapping from the likes of Bisharp, Tyranitar and Mega Scizor, all of which are extremely common
Stab combination is walled by steel types such as Bisharp and Heatran, making it much tougher to break through them
Weak to Ice-type attacks such as Ice Shard from Weavile and Cloyster, as well as Ice-type coverage on special attackers such as Nidoqueen's Ice Beam and Victini's Glaciate

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Draco Meteor is the strongest stab move, denting unresistant targets. However, it forces Latios to switch out due to the Special Attack drop.
Psyshock is the secondary stab move that hits pokemon whose defense stat is weaker.
Thunderbolt takes a big chunk out of Flying-types such as Skarmory and Togekiss that resist Draco Meteor, narrowly missing the OHKO without rocks, hits bulkier Water-types like Alomomola and Empolion super effectively as well
Defog can be used as a last-ditch bid to remove entry hazards at the cost of momentum, or after Trick
Energy Ball can dent bulky water types such as Swampert that resist Thunderbolt
Trick is useful for crippling walls by taking Eviolites or Leftovers away from them
Hidden Power Fire can llure Ferrothorn and Mega-Scizor, OHKOing them both after Stealth Rock, but prevents Latios from speed-tying with other scarfed base 110-speed Pokemon.

Set Details
========

Maximum speed with a timid nature and Choice Scarf allow Latios to outspeed the crowded Choice Scarf 108 speed tier, and speed tie with base 110's with a Choice Scarf.Power Fire lowers the
If the speed is not needed, a modest nature can be used for extra power instead.
Levitate is the only available ability, protecting Latios from ground type attacks

Usage Tips
========

Against offensive teams, use Latios as a revenge killer; don't switch it in as it does not take neutral or super effective hits very well
If you don't predict a switch-in, Draco meteor is a safe move to use unless fairies exist
Double-switch out if you predict a steel type to switch in to preserve your momentum as most steel types do not take too much damage from any move Latios carries, barring hidden power Fire. Skarmory does get nailed by Thunderbolt though.
Against defensive teams, Latios works well as a hit and run attacker. It can also use trick to cripple walls that would otherwise have an easy time against it such as Chansey, Porigon2 and ferrothorn. Choice Scarf also takes the sting out of Ferrothorn's Gyro Ball, which does serious damage to many offensive Dragon-types.

Team Options
========

Wallbreakers are necessary to bring opponents into KO range of Latios's attacks. Kyurem-b and Choice band Dragonite are just a couple examples,.
Physical tanks such as Garchomp and bulky Salimance can take hits for Latios, who does not have much room to take chip damage because of all the switching it has to do. Salimance and Garchomp can whittle down enemy health with poison or rough skin damage, respectively. Garchomp is also Dragon's best stealth rock setter, which can help to net KO's.
Defog support from Mega-Latias or Salimance is also nice to have if latios does not run it already, due to the hit and run nature of this set, but is not mandatory.
A slow U-turn from Hydreigon can be used to escort Latios into battle safely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Life orb and choice specs can be used for extra power. Roost is vital on the Life Orb set to keep Latios in top condition in order for it to check the threats it needs to check.
Memento is useful for bringing in a setup sweeper such as Tyrantrum
Latiosite is an unwise option as the 40-point increase to attack is pointless, and Latios hits harder with a life orb anyway.
Earthquake can be used to lure some of Latios's checks such as non-Air Baloon Heatran and Excadrill

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dragon:**
**U-turn and Knock Off: Both of these moves are devastating to latios, even without stab. With a stab bonus, both of them almost always OHKO after stealth rocks.
**Status: Latios can generally shrug off poisons and burns, but paralysis from Klefki or Togekiss stops it from revenge killing. Along with stealth rocks, poison and burn damage can quickly wear Latios down because of switching
**Steel-types: Ferrothorn, Mega-Scizor, and Klefki wall this set. Skarmory can also survive if Latios does not carry Thunderbolt. Ferrothorn does, however, not like being tricked a Choice item.
**Fairy-types: Mega Gardivoir resists any move Latios has and forces it out with the threat of Pixelate Hyper Voice, an easy OHKO. Mega Diancie can check Latios with the threat of Moonblast, but can't switch into Psyshock as it is a 2hko.

Do you think that any other sets are viable in monotype? I feel like the real draw for Latios is its high speed, and I haven't seen anyone else run other sets besides Choice Scarf in my battles on the ladder (though the June usage stats say that Life Orb was also used). So maybe Life Orb is a useable alternative, trading speed for a lot of extra power. The Scarf set is still a more viable option in general though. I think I'll write up the Life Orb set and put it below scarf.

Latios is the premier Choice Scarf user for Dragon. The usage tips for Dragon are horribly skewed due to a certain builder that almost never has good sets, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. I'd leave it in OO.

Overview
  • Nice check to the many powerful and popular fighting type pokemon such as Mega-Medicham, Mega-Lopunny, Choice Scarfed Terrakion and Choice Scarfed Heracross, and to poison types such as Mega-Venusaur
  • Put Poison types on another line and provide more examples
  • Can also put in work against defensive teams by crippling their walls with trick
  • Just say can cripple bulky Pokemon with Trick
  • Strong revenge killer with a choice scarf, which allows it to outspeed almost the entire metagame
  • Mention how Latios is one of best special attackers on Dragon type teams
  • Mention how Latios has lots of coverage options such as Thunderbolt Energy Ball Hidden Power Fire etc
  • Mention how it's weak to ice a common attacking type
  • Mention how Latios has defog making it a possible hazard removal candidate
  • Mention how it lure some of it's checks/counters with Earthquake and Hidden Power Fire
  • Mention how Latios is Sucker Punch bait for the likes of Bisharp
  • Mention how Latios has reliable recovery in roost
  • Mention how Latios has great speed of 110 making it outspeed common 108 and 100 base scarfers
  • Mention how Latios has decent Special bulk allowing it to take some hits
  • Mention how Latios is immune to ground moves that are common
  • Mnetion how Latios is weak to pursuit
  • Not everything I wanted to fix but it should have more information
[SET]
name: Revenge Killer (Dragon)
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Psyshock
move 3: Defog
move 4: Trick / Thunderbolt / Energy Ball / Hidden Power Fire
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe This change is so you take 11% from Sr instead of 12%
I fixed the set honsetly depends on the type of team that is being used. Most Mega Latias don't run Defog so Latios needs to and Trick is kind of situational so other options is best place for that.
Moves
  • Draco Meteor is the strongest stab move, denting unresistant targets. However, it forces Latios to switch out due to the Special Attack drop.
  • Psyshock is the secondary stab move that hits pokemon whose defense stat is weaker.
  • Mention how Psyshock helps against Poison and Fighting Types as well
  • Provide examples of Pokemon that Psyshock would be used on. Examples such as Chansey, Mega Venusaur, Scarf Terrakion and Scarf Heracross
  • The slot for coverage is team-dependent irrevlant information
  • Thunderbolt takes a big chunk out of Skarmory, narrowly missing the OHKO without rocks, hits bulkier Water-types like Volcanion (Volcanion is not bulky water) super effectively. Examples of bulky waters that Thunderbolt hits are Alomomola, Empoleon, and Azumarill
  • Defog is useful to remove entry hazards at the cost of momentum, or after Trick
  • Talk about how defog should be used as last resort if necessary to remove hazards
  • Ice Beam hits a different set of targets including Landorus and slower dragon types such as Dragonite and Garchomp, but is generally outclassed by Kyurem-B Other Options
  • Trick is useful for crippling walls by taking Eviolites or Leftovers away from them Other Options
  • Talk about Energy Ball and how it hits Bulky Ground and Water types such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, Swampert, Manaphy, and Lanturn.
Set details
  • Mention Max Special Attack is used to maximize Latios' power
  • Mention how Max Speed with Timid nature is used to outspeed base 108 Choice Scarfers
  • The Cloyster argument is irrelevant because at plus 2 Ice Shard OHKOs
  • Modest Nature does not deserve a mention
  • Give some examples of ground types levitate helps with such as Hippowdon, Landorus-I, and Seismitoad
Usage Tips
  • This section is very confusing but I'll try to fix it
  • Mention how Latios can be switched in obvious doubles
  • Mention how Latios should be kept away from status mostly specifically Thunder Wave because it hinders its job as a revenge killer
  • Use U-turn from Hydregion to get Latios in a lot Easier to revenge kill a Pokemon
  • Mention how Latios should be preserved as it is important to keep to revenge kill Late Game sweepers
  • Mention how Latios should be switched when bulky walls healthy walls are present
  • Mention how you should be careful what move Latios is locked into
  • Mention how defog should be used only switches to bulky walls when hazards need to be removed
  • Mnetion how hidden power fire is a good lure and should be used on predicted switches
  • Usage tip section needs lot more but I can't get into everything
Team Options
  • put the team options as individual lines
  • Mention how Kyurem-B can take out bulky Flying, Ground and Water types with Life Orb
  • Mention how Dragonite can take out special walls as well as having priority for Pokemon like Cloyster
  • Mention how Garchomp sets up Stealth Rocks as well as being a soft check to Bisharp with Rocky Helmet Tank set.
  • Mention Hydreigon and how it has access to U-turn and has coverage options to get rid of Steel types id Dark POulse, Fire Blast, and Superpower.
  • Mention Mega Latias which can either sweep with Calm Mind set or Support Latios with Healing Wish. (Latias is complicated Pokemon)
  • Mention Dragalge which takes out fairy types that threaten Latios with Sludge Wave
Other Options
  • Put Life Orb and Choice Specs separately
  • Mention moves such as Ice Beam Earthquake, and Surf in individual lines and why they are good with examples
  • Latiosite is an unwise option as the 40-point increase to attack is pointless, and Latios hits harder with a life orb anyway
  • Just talk about DD with Mega Latios
Checks & Counters
  • **U-turn and Knock Off: Both of these moves are devastating to latios, even without stab. With a stab bonus, both of them almost always OHKO after stealth rocks.
  • Add pursuit and how it traps Latios and ultimately OHKOs it example Pokemon Tyranitar and Scizor
  • Add Sucker Punch with prime example being Bisharp and explain why Sucker Punch is a good check to Latios
  • Mention Heatran and Bisharp under steel types
  • Mention Togekiss which can paralyze it. Clefable which can take any hit and set up Calm Minds. Mnetion Klefiki which can status Latios and set up screens.
I did not fix everything because I don't want to write a whole analysis because QC is already very big
I would recommend going back wip and adding these changes as well as pming a qc member to fix missing details I did not mention
You can find me on PS under "iVid" if you need help
QC 1/3 rejected
