[OVERVIEW]

**Fire:**

Blessed with an amazing ability in Drought and an incredibly high Special Attack stat, Mega Charizard Y is one of the best wallbreakers in the metagame. Drought boosts its Fire-type moves while weakening Water-type moves, removing other weather effects such as rain and sand, and making Solar Beam a one-turn move. To complement this, Mega Charizard Y has been gifted fantastic coverage through which it can OHKO or at least 2HKO almost everything in the metagame. It can also clear away entry hazards through Defog to help its teammates. Additionally, its pretty decent Special Defense stat lets it survive most special attacks such as a Choice Specs Keldeo's Hydro Pump in sun. To take further advantage of this, Mega Charizard Y can run Roost to improve its longevity. It notably is blessed with an immunity to Ground-type moves thanks to its secondary typing, Flying. Although its base 100 Speed isn't bad, the metagame is crowded with base 100 Speed Pokemon, which leaves it Speed tying with Mega Medicham, which can KO it with Fake Out and High Jump Kick, and Manaphy, which can set up Rain Dance on an incoming Solar Beam. It also has a relatively low Defense stat and therefore does not like taking physical hits. As it is a Fire-type Pokemon, it is weak to Stealth Rock as is, but its secondary typing makes it even weaker to it, leaving it with only half of its health if it comes in on it. Besides this, Mega Charizard Y can easily be worn down through priority attacks and other forms of residual damage. Although it is mostly used as a wallbreaker, its wallbreaking capabilities are heavily reliant on sun being up.

Moves
========

Fire Blast is Mega Charizard Y's main attack and gets boosted by sun, which allows it to OHKO or at least 2HKO almost every Pokemon in the metagame. Flamethrower can be used as a more accurate but severely weaker alternative STAB attack; using this over Fire Blast loses out on a lot of KOs such as 2HKOing opposing Charizard and Latios as well as losing the chance to OHKO Mega Gardevoir. Solar Beam is another move that takes advantage of the sun, as it becomes a one-turn move that is super effective against all of Mega Charizard Y's threats such as Slowbro, Keldeo, Hippowdon, and Gastrodon. Focus Blast 2HKOes even the most specially defensive Tyranitar or Heatran, which would generally pose a problem for Mega Charizard Y. Defog is mostly used on teams that lack hazard control to to clear away entry hazards that can create problems for Mega Charizard Y and its teammates. Roost can be used as an alternative to Defog to improve Mega Charizard Y's longevity and allow it to be used more freely. However, this should only be used if there is an alternative form of hazard control.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack investment lets Mega Charizard Y hit as hard as possible. A Timid nature with maximum Speed EVs is used to make it as fast as it can possibly be as well as to Speed tie with other base 100 Speed Pokemon. Blaze is chosen because Solar Power needlessly chips away at Charizard's health if it switches in while sun is set by the opponent and because it is not compatible with Defog. Charizard's HP stat should always be an odd number after investment so that it can come in on Stealth Rock twice.

Usage Tips
========

As Mega Charizard Y is a wallbreaker, it should be sent out as soon as the opportunity arises to set up sun as well as to break opposing walls that could trouble its teammates. Because Charizard's Speed and bulk aren't particularly good, it should try to Mega Evolve primarily against slower Pokemon that either don't threaten it or can be taken out immediately. As it is 4x weak to it, Mega Charizard Y should not be sent out while Stealth Rock is still in the field. Keeping the hazard off the user's side also helps it switch in and out more. It can be sent out against Stealth Rock setters right away if it is running Defog so that it does not have to take the extra damage from Stealth Rock. Mega Charizard Y should avoid getting hit with any type of status, as that can severely reduce its wallbreaking capabilities. It must make full use of the sun turns that Drought provides, because once sun ends, Mega Charizard Y's damage output is cut significantly, allowing Pokemon such as Latios to use Roost to recover damage and stall out the remaining turns. It can use Roost to be able to switch into attacks freely and to recover off Stealth Rock damage if it is forced to switch into it. Mega Charizard Y can be sent out against Water-types, as it can take most special Water-type moves because of sun halving their damage and its decent Special Defense stat. Mega Charizard Y also can defeat most Water-type Pokemon one-on-one thanks to its access to Solar Beam; however, it must be careful when using Solar Beam if it is up against an opposing weather setter, which can lock Mega Charizard Y into the charge turn. Against Hippowdon, there isn't much of a worry because it can't really do anything back, but Politoed and Tyranitar will OHKO Mega Charizard Y with Scald and Stone Edge, respectively. Drought can also be used to remove weather effects such as sand and rain to stop potential Sand Rush or Swift Swim sweepers. However, Charizard must be already be Mega Evolved in order to do so, as the Swift Swim or Sand Rush user's Speed is calculated before sun is set.

Team Options
========

Most Fire-type Pokemon appreciate Mega Charizard Y's ability to set up sun to boost their Fire-type moves. Some form of entry hazard control is absolutely crucial while using Mega Charizard Y. Torkoal in particular is a great partner, as it can not only clear away opposing Stealth Rock but also set up its own to help Mega Charizard Y break walls. Mega Charizard Y and Darmanitan work amazingly as an offensive core due to both having ridiculous offensive stats and Mega Charizard Y's sun boosting both of their STAB attacks. Darmanitan also clears out specially defensive walls such as Chansey for Mega Charizard Y to clean later in the match. Darmanitan can also pivot through U-turn to safely bring in Mega Charizard Y. Infernape has Fighting-type STAB to beat Normal-type Pokemon like Chansey, which would normally wall Mega Charizard Y. Like Darmanitan, Infernape can also pivot through U-turn and find good opportunities to bring in Mega Charizard Y safely. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock or use Toxic on the foe to deal chip damage throughout the game and make it easier for Mega Charizard Y to break the opposing team. It can also be used as a check to Mega Diancie through the Choice Scarf set. Entei can be used together with Mega Charizard Y because it can burn foes through Sacred Fire to weaken Pokemon for Mega Charizard Y to clean. Victini is another great partner, as it can sweep late-game if sun is up. Mega Charizard Y and Victini also can heavily pressure Water-type Pokemon with Solar Beam and Bolt Strike, respectively. Victini can also run utility-oriented moves, such as Glaciate, to hit foes such as Landorus-T and Garchomp, or U-turn, to pivot out to Mega Charizard Y. Volcanion is also an option, as it is immune to Water-type attacks, which Mega Charizard Y can be worn down by. Volcanion can also burn opposing pokemon through Steam Eruption, which cripples them to the point where Mega Charizard Y can clean up. Rotom-H's ability to switch into Electric-type attacks is very nice, along with its ability to set up Reflect and Light Screen, which enable Mega Charizard Y to survive attacks from faster foes that it otherwise couldn't, such as from Thundurus and even Choice Scarf Excadrill. Rotom-H can also pivot through Volt Switch and find opportunities to bring in Mega Charizard Y safely.

Other Options

**Fire:**

Mega Charizard Y can use a Modest nature over Timid to further increase its Special Attack, but it misses out on outspeeding Pokemon such as maximum Speed Excadrill and Kyurem-B and the opportunity to Speed tie with other base 100 Speed Pokemon. Dragon Pulse can be used to hit Dragon-type Pokemon, but it is only useful in that matchup, as Fire Blast or Solar Beam will generally outdamage Dragon-types that are neutral to them. Tailwind and Will-O-Wisp can be used as support moves both for its teammates and to increase Mega Charizard Y's own Speed or wear down Pokemon that it has a difficult time facing.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fire:**

**Chansey**: Chansey utterly counters Mega Charizard Y thanks to being able to always switch in and use status moves or set up Stealth Rock while wasting sun turns.

**Mega Latias**: Mega Latias, just like Chansey, can switch into all of Mega Charizard Y's attacks with ease. Then, it can cripple Mega Charizard Y with Toxic or Thunder Wave or set up with Calm Mind while wasting sun turns.

**Gyarados and Sharpedo**: Gyarados can take a Solar Beam before Mega Evolving, allowing it set up Dragon Dance in its regular forme and then OHKO Mega Charizard Y with a Crunch after Mega Evolving. On the other hand, Sharpedo can use Protect and gain a Speed boost and then Mega Evolve to have a good chance to KO Mega Charizard Y with Crunch.

**Rock types**: Rock-type Pokemon such as Mega Diancie, Terrakion, Aerodactyl, and specially defensive Assault Vest Tyranitar can all either outspeed Mega Charizard Y or take a Solar Beam and KO it in return.

**Dragon-types**: Latios, Latias, Garchomp, and Dragonite can all take take one of Mega Charizard Y's attacks and KO it in return, although the former two need slight damage on it beforehand.

**Opposing Weather Setters**: Opposing weather setters such as Politoed, Tyranitar, and Hippowdon can be annoying for Mega Charizard Y to deal with, as it can't use an immediate Solar Beam if they switch in. However, Tyranitar and Hippowdon are 2HKOed by Focus Blast and Fire Blast in sand, respectively. Politoed is good at switching into Mega Charizard Y, although Focus Blast can 2HKO it after Stealth Rock damage.

**Revenge Killers**: As Mega Charizard Y's Speed is not particularly spectacular, faster Pokemon such as Terrakion, Mega Diancie, and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B can easily outspeed and OHKO it.

**Status**: Status effects such as poison, paralysis, and sleep heavily reduce Mega Charizard Y's wallbreaking capabilities. Poison compromises Mega Charizard Y's longevity, paralysis quarters its Speed, and sleep makes it unable to attack for at least one turn.[/hide]

Overview:
- Although base 100 Speed isn't bad, the tier itself is crowded, which is a problem for it, leaving it in Speed ties against Mega Medicham, which can KO it with Fake Out and High Jump Kick, and Manaphy, which can set up Rain Dance on an incoming Solar Beam.

Moves:
- I feel like Flamethrower should definitely be in Moves, if not slashed after Fire Blast in the set. Add 2-3 examples of what Flamethrower cannot KO that Fire Blast can, though, which is why Fire Blast is preferred over it.

Set Details:
- Blaze is chosen because Solar Power deals 10% of Charizard's health if it switches in while sun is up (perhaps set by an opposing Mega Charizard Y). This is important enough that it should be the primary ability.

Usage Tips:
- Include that Mega Charizard Y needs to be careful of using Solar Beam if against an opposing weather setter, which can trap Mega Charizard Y into the charge turn. Against Hippowdon, there isn't much of a worry because it can't really do anything back, but Politoed and Tyranitar will OHKO Mega Charizard Y with Scald and Stone Edge, respectively.
- Add that Mega Evolving Charizard as soon as possible is important. Being able to switch in to instantly set sun with Drought can be very useful, as can its boosted Special Defense. Because Charizard's Speed and bulk isn't particularly good, it should try to Mega Evolve primarily against slower Pokemon that either don't threaten it or can be taken out immediately.
- Since Roost is a slash, you should give it some attention here. Something like using Roost to keep Mega Charizard Y healthy and able to switch in safely. It also helps with Stealth Rock damage, if Mega Charizard Y is forced to switch into it.
- Make sure to take full advantage of the sun turns that Drought provides, because once sun ends, Mega Charizard Y's damage is cut significantly. As a result, be careful of letting Pokemon such as Latios use Roost to recover damage and stall out the remaining turns.
- Also, keeping Stealth Rock off your side of the field lets Mega Charizard Y more easily switch in and out.

Team Options:
- Not sure Porygon2 is a good example for the Infernape line because it's always 2HKOed by Fire Blast. Also, Meloetta is hardly able to "wall" Mega Charizard Y, with the Assault Vest set barely being able to switch into Fire Blast (It needs to have almost no Speed investment to do so) and lacking recovery. Infernape can't OHKO Meloetta either anyway without a sun-boosted, Choice Band Flare Blitz.
- I'd add Victini's ability to run more utility-oriented moves, such as Glaciate, to hit foes such as Landorus-Therian and Garchomp, or U-turn, to pivot into Mega Charizard Y.
- Surely Rotom-H is a great teammate? Its ability to switch into Electric-type attacks is very nice, along with its ability to set up Reflect and Light Screen, which make Mega Charizard Y take far less damage, and making it able to survive attacks from faster foes that it otherwise couldn't, such as from Thundurus and even Choice Scarf Excadrill.

Other Options:
- If you move Flamethrower to Moves, remove it from here.

Checks and Counters:
- Rain and Sand should be added here. Not having access to Solar Beam can be annoying, as can not having the sun boost to Fire-type damage. In particular, Politoed is good at switching into Mega Charizard Y, although Focus Blast can 2HKO with Stealth Rock damage.
- Chansey should be the first mention in this section. It utterly counters Mega Charizard Y, thanks to being able to always switch in and use status moves or set up Stealth Rock while wasting sun turns.
- I'm not sure how I feel Garchomp being given its own line when Mega Latias doesn't. I'd put Garchomp in Dragon-types and give Mega Latias its own section for always switching in and wasting turns of sun.
- Revenge killers should have a place here. Faster Pokemon such as Terrakion, Mega Diancie, and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B can easily outspeed and OHKO Mega Charizard Y.

Nice job! Only lacking a few details here and there. QC 1/3

Maximum Special Attack EV investment lets Mega Charizard Y hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

As it is 4x weak to Stealth Rock, Mega Charizard Y should not be sent out while Stealth Rock is still in on the field. Keeping the said hazard off the user's side also helps it switch in and out more. It Mega Charizard Y can use Roost to be able to switch into attacks freely and to recover off Stealth Rock damage if it is forced to switch into it. Mega Charizard Y can be sent out against Water-types, as it can take most special based Water-type moves because of sun halving their damage and its decent Special Defense stat. Mega Charizard Y also can defeat most Water-type Pokemon one-on-one due to access to Solar Beam; however, it must be careful when using Solar Beam if it is up against an opposing weather setter, which can lock Mega Charizard Y into the charge turn.

Most Fire-type Pokemon appreciate Mega Charizard Y's ability to set up sun to boost their Fire-type moves. Some form of entry hazard control is absolutely crucial while using Mega Charizard Y. Torkoal in particular is a great partner, as it can not only clear away opposing Stealth Rock but also set up its own to help Mega Charizard Y break walls. Mega Charizard Y and Darmanitan work amazingly as an offensive core due to both having ridiculous offensive stats and Mega Charizard Y's sun boosting both of their STAB attacks. Darmanitan also clears out specially defensive walls such as Chansey for Mega Charizard Y to clean. Darmanitan can pivot through U-turn to safely switch in Mega Charizard Y. Infernape has Fighting-type STAB to beat Normal-type Pokemon like Chansey, which would normally wall Mega Charizard Y. Like Darmanitan, Infernape can also pivot through U-turn and find good opportunities to bring in Mega Charizard Y safely. Heatran can set up Stealth Rock or Toxic the foe to deal chip damage throughout the game and make it easier for Mega Charizard Y to break them. It can also be used as a check to Mega Diancie through by running the Choice Scarf set.

===================

On the other hand, Sharpedo can Protect and gain Speed and then Mega Evolve to have a good chance to KO Mega Charizard Y with Crunch.

Poison compromises Mega Charizard Y's longevity, paralysis quarters its Speed, and sleep makes it unable to attack for at least one turn.

In analyses, it is assumed the reader has a grasp on Pokemon's basic mechanics. There's no need to go this far with the explanations of Drought and status.

[OVERVIEW]

To complement this, Mega Charizard Y has been gifted fantastic coverage though through which it can OHKO or at least 2HKO almost everything in the metagame. It can also clear away entry hazards through Defog to help its teammates. Additionally, its pretty decent Special Defense stat lets it survive most special attacks such as a Choice Specs Keldeo's Hydro Pump in sun. To take further advantage of this, Mega Charizard Y can use run Roost to improve its longevity. It notably is blessed with an immunity to Ground-type moves due thanks to its secondary typing, Flying.

Fire Blast is Mega Charizard Y's main attack,; (comma) (semicolon) as it gets boosted due to sun from its ability Drought, which getting boosted by sun (I party agree with this change; being charizard's main attack is NOT a consequence of the move being boosted since overheat and the later mentioned flamethrower also are boosted. i think though that a semicolon is a bit clunky and a simple and would have been ok. not exactly wrong, just not pretty) allows it to OHKO or (same as earlier) at least 2HKO almost every Pokemon in the metagame.
