[Monotype / Normal] Staraptor

[OVERVIEW]

Staraptor is a staple on Normal-type teams, as it can be used in an offensive role with items such as Choice Scarf and Choice Band or in a defensive one as a physically bulky hazard remover. Offensively, Staraptor can act as a very powerful wallbreaker or revenge killer, having an excellent base 120 Attack stat coupled with an impressive base 100 Speed. With access to the ability Reckless, Staraptor can punch holes in the opposing team with its STAB moves Brave Bird and Double-Edge. Staraptor is able to run a bulky set to provide team support with its access to Intimidate and Defog, being the only viable option for removing entry hazards on Normal-type teams. With its Flying typing, Staraptor gains a neutrality against Fighting-type attacks and becomes able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice item users locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, and Diggersby.

Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take multiple hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar Special Defense. Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which limits its opportunities to switch in and reduces its effectiveness as a Defogger. Despite Staraptor being a very offensive Pokemon, it has trouble breaking through certain defensive Pokemon such as Skarmory and Hippowdon. Staraptor is also vulnerable to status moves, which hinder its effectiveness. Because Staraptor has Reckless and relies on recoil moves to deal lots of damage, it gets worn down quickly.

[SET]
name: Bulkyraptor (Normal)
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Roost
move 3: Defog
move 4: Close Combat / Feather Dance / U-turn
item: Leftovers
ability: Intimidate
nature: Impish
evs: EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB move, heavily damaging Pokemon that don't resist the attack. Roost gives Staraptor reliable recovery, replenishing its health throughout the match to prolong its longevity and help it continuously switch into physical attackers to wall them. Defog lets Staraptor to act as a reliable entry hazard remover for its team. Close Combat grants Staraptor Fighting-type coverage against Rock- and Steel-types, such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. Feather Dance can be used instead of Close Combat to cripple physical attackers and allow Staraptor to recover more easily with Roost. However, the move is useless against Swords Dance Mega Scizor and Defiant Bisharp. U-turn can also be used instead of Close Combat in order to provide more momentum for the team in addition to scouting the opponent's team.

Set Details
========

240 HP EVs give Staraptor minimize Stealth Rock damage and maximize Leftovers recovery. 252 Defense EVs with an Impish nature allow Staraptor to take physical attacks much more effectively. The remaining 16 EVs are used in Speed for Staraptor to outspeed neutral-natured base 70 Speed Pokemon such as Bisharp and Breloom. Intimidate provides Staraptor and its team support by softening attacks from physical attackers. Leftovers gives Staraptor passive recovery every turn and works well in conjunction with Roost. Safety Goggles can be used instead of Leftovers for Staraptor to avoid being put to sleep by Breloom's Spore.

Usage Tips
========

This set fits best on balanced and stall Normal-type teams. Because of Intimidate, Staraptor should mainly be used as a switch-in to physical attackers. Staraptor must be careful of physical attackers switching into it instead because Intimidate will not work then, so it will have difficulty in tanking their attacks. For example, Choice Band Azumarill is unable to 2HKO Staraptor after the Attack drop from Intimidate but can easily 2HKO Staraptor with Play Rough or Waterfall otherwise. Staraptor should never be used as a switch-in for special attackers because of its low Special Defense. Despite having Defog, try not to have Staraptor continuously switch in on Stealth Rock without using Roost to keep its health high. Make sure you keep Staraptor away from status moves such as poison, paralysis, and burns, as they greatly hinder its longevity.

If there's a Pokemon that can't do much do Staraptor such as Choice Scarf Heracross after an Intimidate, it's safe to go for either a Brave Bird, Roost, or Defog to remove any entry hazards from your side of the field. Use Close Combat on Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar so Staraptor can easily remove them from the field. Be wary of switching into Bisharp because it can get a boost from Defiant after an Intimidate. U-turn helps Staraptor escape switch-ins and bring its teammates in safely. Feather Dance compounds the Attack drop from Intimidate to make physical attackers almost useless against Staraptor and its teammates. Be wary that, due to its low PP, Feather Dance cannot let Staraptor beat Swords Dance users. Don't hesitate to use Feather Dance on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Medicham because Staraptor will be able to wall it and replenish its health with Roost.

Team Options
========

Chansey is an excellent partner for Staraptor, as it can make for a great status absorber due to Natural Cure, switch into special attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle, and use Stealth Rock, which provides great utility. Porygon2 can wear down defensive Pokemon with Toxic or Thunder Wave and deal with pestering Flying-types that can easily handle Staraptor such as Zapdos and Skarmory. Foul Play Porygon2 also works nicely as a check against Mega Scizor. Both Chansey and Porygon2 appreciate the removal of entry hazards with Defog and Staraptor's ability to switch into Knock Off, even though it'll lose its Leftovers. With Close Combat, Staraptor will be able to threaten out Knock Off users such as Weavile and Bisharp.

Mega Lopunny can assist in removing foes that threaten Staraptor with its powerful High Jump Kick such as Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. Staraptor also appreciates a teammate that has an Electric immunity such as Diggersby. Additionally, Diggersby can break through walls with its fearsome Huge Power-boosted attacks. Setup sweepers and special attackers will be very troublesome for Staraptor, so Choice Scarf Ditto can be very helpful in getting rid of these Pokemon due to having Imposter and being able to copy the threat's stat changes. Other special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta are also wonderful options for dealing a lot of damage to the opposing team for Staraptor. Mega Pidgeot and Meloetta deserve a special mention because they both can defeat Steel-types that Staraptor struggles against with Heat Wave and Focus Blast, respectively. In return, Mega Pidgeot appreciates Staraptor getting rid of Stealth Rock with Defog.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf (Normal)
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Double-Edge
move 3: Close Combat
move 4: U-turn
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Reckless
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB move, dealing enormous damage to opposing Pokemon that don't resist it. Double-Edge allows Staraptor to hit Electric-types, such as Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Mega Ampharos, for neutral damage. Close Combat gives Staraptor coverage against Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types such as Bisharp, Kyurem-B, Chansey, Tyranitar, and Heatran. U-turn provides more momentum for Staraptor and its team.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and a Choice Scarf allows Staraptor to be an effective revenge killer while outspeeding fast threats, such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Mega Swampert in rain. 252 Attack EVs increase Staraptor's damage output. They're especially useful when utilizing U-turn to pivot in and off the field. Reckless is the preferred ability, as it boosts the power of Brave Bird and Double-Edge. An Adamant nature with a Choice Band can be used instead of Jolly for more power and a way to get potential KOs on Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, specially defensive Zapdos, and offensive Volcanion; however, Staraptor will lose the extra Speed from Choice Scarf and be outsped by opposing Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Kyurem-B, Heracross, and Hoopa-U.

Usage Tips
========

Staraptor functions as an excellent revenge killer against Pokemon such as Landorus, Gengar, and, especially, Fighting-types such as Keldeo, Mega Gallade, and Heracross. With Choice Scarf, Staraptor can also act as a pseudo-wallbreaker early- or mid-game to help break walls for its teammates, given that it's running Reckless. Due to its low bulk, it's better to have Staraptor come in after a teammate has fallen or on a predicted switch so it doesn't have to risk taking any damage on the switch.

U-turn is great way to deal chip damage and get a much better matchup. Don't have Staraptor continuously switch in while Stealth Rock is on the field because this hinders its future opportunities to come in. Also, Staraptor can be used effectively as a late-game cleaner once all its checks are gone. Close Combat should be used only when necessary, to hit Dark-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. Staraptor should avoid aggressively attacking when there is an obvious wall and instead use U-turn for momentum.

Team Options
========

Staraptor requires entry hazard support to apply more offensive pressure on the opposing team, especially against Focus Sash and Sturdy Pokemon, allowing it to wallbreak and acquire KOs more easily. Smeargle is also able to set up Sticky Web, providing Staraptor and its team with speed control. Chansey can sponge special attacks for Staraptor and set up Stealth Rock. It also has access to Thunder Wave, which provides speed control and a chance for Staraptor to get free turns upon attacking. Because Staraptor won't be able to handle Doublade, which resists both of its STAB moves, is immune to Close Combat, and can use it as setup fodder with Swords Dance, Pokemon such as Diggersby, Mega Lopunny, and Meloetta are excellent checks for removing it along with other threats that oppose Staraptor. Diggersby and Mega Lopunny deserve a special mention, as both can break down walls with their powerful STAB moves.

Lastly, special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta help against physical walls that Staraptor struggles with such as Hippowdon, Skarmory, and Mandibuzz. Despite both being Flying-types, Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor can both wear down Flying checks due to their complementary movesets. For example, Mega Pidgeot can hit Skarmory with Heat Wave, while Staraptor can hit Togekiss with its powerful STAB moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
**Normal**

Whirlwind can be an alternative move for defensive Staraptor, as it works as a good shuffler if it fears Mega Scizor or other bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite. Whirlwind can also be used to keep sweepers , such as Mega Scizor, from setting up on Staraptor and deal passive damage while Stealth Rock is on the field. Toxic can also be used to cripple bulky Pokemon. However, this leaves Normal weak to Bisharp due to its immunity to Toxic, and Whirlwind could possibly shuffle Bisharp in. Staraptor would have to Whirlwind again and take damage or switch out. This can also cause a problem if Bisharp is the last Pokemon remaining on a Dark or Steel team. Both Whirlwind and Toxic should only be used in the bulky set.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Normal**

**Special Attackers**: Due to Staraptor's weak special bulk, it won't be able to take multiple hits from powerful special attackers such as Volcanion, Landorus, and Mega Diancie.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically bulky Pokemon such as Skarmory, Hippowdon, and Avalugg can tank several hits from Staraptor and recover damage with their reliable recovery. This can let them stall out its Choice Scarf set, as Staraptor can faint from its own recoil attacks.

**Status**: If not careful, Staraptor can be crippled by Thunder Wave, Toxic, or Will-O-Wisp from Pokemon such as Klefki, Porygon2, and Mew, which hinders its longevity and forces it to waste turns using Roost to keep itself alive.

**Steel-types**: Staraptor has trouble breaking through the majority of Steel-types, as most of them resist its STAB moves, meaning Staraptor has to rely on Close Combat to deal any damage. Doublade will be very problematic due to having an immunity to Close Combat. Mega Scizor can survive even a Choice Band- and Reckless-boosted Brave Bird and KO it back. If defensive Staraptor doesn't carry Close Combat, Bisharp will be very troublesome due to having Defiant.

**Support Pokemon**: Support Pokemon from opposing teams can be very problematic for Staraptor. Mew is an excellent example, as it has nothing to fear from either the bulky or Choice Scarf set and can cripple Staraptor with Will-O-Wisp while setting up Stealth Rock.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Staraptor is a huge staple on Normal-type teams, as can be used offensively in running items such as Choice Scarf and Choice Band, or it can also be very useful defensively.
  • Staraptor can act as a very powerful wallbreaker or revenge killer, having an excellent base Attack stat coupled with an impressive base 100 Speed.
  • With access in to the ability in Reckless, Staraptor can puncture holes in the opposing team with its dual STAB moves such as Brave Bird and Double Edge.
  • Staraptor is able to provide team support by lowering the foe's Attack stat, thanks to its ability, Intimidate, which allows it to survive another hit from physically offensive Pokemon.
  • Staraptor is able to provide Defog support, as it's the only viable user of entry hazard removal.
  • With its Flying typing, Staraptor is able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, Stress its neutrality to Fighting being the most improtant along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice Pokemon locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, Mamoswine, and Diggersby. Staraptor should never switch into a Mamoswine
  • Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take several hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar bulk.
  • Defensive variants of Staraptor are quite passive due to special sweepers being able to easily switch-in and get a free boost such as Mega Latias and Mega Sableye. It is not really passive with a 120 BP STAB and 120 Atk
  • Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which gives it limited opportunities to switch-in. and limits its effectiveness as a defogger
  • Despite Staraptor being a very offensive Pokemon, it has trouble breaking through certain defensive Pokemon such as Skarmory and Hippowdon.
  • Staraptor is also vulnerable to status moves, which hinders its effectiveness.
  • Even though Staraptor has Reckless, it relies too much on its recoil moves to deal a lot of damage, which wears its longevity quickly.
  • Both Defog and Feather Dance have a much lower PP than Stealth Rock and Swords Dance, respectively so it's not good at preventing Stealth Rock to be set up or a Pokemon to set up Swords Dance. ??

Moves

  • Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB and damaging move for Pokemon that don't resist the attack.
  • Roost gives Staraptor reliable recovery, replenishing its health to prolong its stay on the field throughout the match to continuously switch into physical attackers to wall them.
  • Defog gives Staraptor utility to act as a reliable entry hazard remover for its team.
  • Close Combat allows for Staraptor to hit Rock- and Steel-types such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. Mention how Bisharp is especially annoying if it doesn't have CC because of Defiant
  • U-turn can also be used instead of Close Combat in order to provide more momentum for the team in addition to scouting the opponent's team.
  • Feather Dance can be used instead of Close Combat and U-turn, as it is a great supporting move, which lowers their Attack stat by two stages thus, crippling physical attackers.
Set Details
========
  • 240 HP gives Staraptor a Stealth Rock number in being able to switch-in four times along with a Leftovers number.
  • 252 Defense EVs with an Impish nature allow for Staraptor to take physical attacks much more effectively.
  • The remaining 16 EVs are used in Speed for Staraptor to outspeed neutral base 70s Speed Pokemon such as Bisharp and Breloom.
  • Intimidate provides Staraptor and its team support in softening attacks from physical attackers. Leftovers give Staraptor passive recovery every turn in conjunction with Roost.
  • Safety Goggles can be used instead of Leftovers for Staraptor to avoid being crippled by Breloom's Spore and Whimsicott's Stun Spore.
Usage Tips
========
  • Staraptor should mainly be used as a switch-in to physical attackers because of Intimidate.
  • Staraptor should never be used as a switch-in for special attackers because of its low Special Defense, which makes it vulnerable to take a hit.
  • Despite having Defog, try not to have Staraptor continuously switch-in on Stealth Rock without using Roost in between turns to keep its health high.
  • Make sure you keep Staraptor away from status moves such as poison, paralysis, and burns. This would greatly hinder its longevity.
  • If there's a Pokemon that can't do much do it such as Choice Scarf Heracross after an Intimidate, it's safe to go for either a Brave Bird, Roost up, or Defog any entry hazards from your field.
  • Use Close Combat on Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar so Staraptor can easily remove them off the field.
  • Be wary of switching into Bisharp because it can get a boost from Defiant after an Intimidate.
  • U-turn also helps Staraptor escape switch-ins and bring its teammate in safely. This would help because its teammates will be coming in on a slow U-turn to avoid damage.
  • Feather Dance compounds the Attack drop from Intimidate to make physical attackers almost useless against Staraptor and its teammates. Be wary that due to its low PP Feather Dance cannot be Swords Dance users. Don't hesitate to use Feather Dance on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Medicham because Staraptor will be able to wall it and replenish its health back with Roost.Whirlwind should mainly be used to keep sweepers from setting up on Staraptor such as Mega Scizor. You never mentioned Whirlwind before this. Put it at the end of the Moves section if you're going to mention it here.

Chansey can also be a great help in switching into Special Attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle. Chansey also has access to Stealth Rock, which provides great utility.
  • Mega Lopunny can assist in removing types that threaten Staraptor with its powerful High Jump Kick such as Dark, Ice, Normal, Rock, and Steel-types.

  • Mega Pidgeot and Meloetta deserves a special mention because they both can defeat Steel-types that Staraptor struggles against with Heat Wave and Focus Blast. Mention how Mega Pidgeot also likes Staraptor getting rid of Stealth Rock for it. • Brave Bird and Double Edge are Staraptor's main STAB move of choice. Dealing enormous damage to opposing teams that don't resist them. Additionally, both attacks get a power boost from Reckless. Split these up, mention how Brave Bird is the main STAB move, and mention how Double Edge is useful as a neutral hit against Electric-type Pokemon like Zapdos and Rotom-W.
  • Close Combat gives Staraptor coverage in checking Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Kyurem-B, Omastar, and Heatran.
  • U-turn provides more momentum for Staraptor and its team along with scouting the foe.
Set Details

  • Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allow for Staraptor to be an effective revenge killer while outspeeding faster Pokemon.
  • 252 Attack EVs increases Staraptor's damage output. Also, it's good when utilizing U-turn to pivot in and off the field.
  • Reckless is the preferred ability, as it boosts the power of Brave Bird and Double Edge.
  • Intimidate can be used over Reckless to bluff the opponent, thinking that Staraptor is defensive. This seems really bad on offensive, do people actually use this? Maybe put this in OO?
  • An Adamant nature with a Choice Band can be used instead of Jolly for more power and a way to get potential KOs; however, Staraptor will lose the extra Speed from Choice Scarf. Find some specific Pokemon that it will miss out on and mention them here

  • Choice Scarf Staraptor is used to take out offensive threats.Especially Fighting-type Pokemon. Some examples include Keldeo, Landorus, and Gengar.
  • With Choice Scarf, Staraptor can also act as a pseudo wallbreaker given that it's running Reckless. Staraptor can also be used early- or mid-game to help break walls for its teammates.

  • Also, Staraptor can be used effectively as a late-game cleaner once all its checks are gone.
  • Close Combat should be used when necessary. It should mainly be used to hit Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. But Staraptor should avoid using Close Combat on Skarmory because it's able to tank it very well and Staraptor would take Rocky Helmet damage.

  • This set works best with entry hazard support to apply more offensive pressure on the opposing team. Additionally, breaking Focus Sash Pokemon. Great examples are Pokemon such as Smeargle or Chansey, allowing Staraptor to wallbreak more easily and acquire KOs. It also has access to Thunder Wave, which helps provide speed control and a chance for Staraptor get free turns upon attacking.
  • Because Staraptor won't be able to handle Doublade, as it resists both its STAB moves, immune to Close Combat, and use it as setup fodder with Swords Dance, Pokemon such as Diggersby, Mega Lopunny, and Ditto are excellent checks in removing it off the field along with other threats that opposes Staraptor. Ditto is a bad example. Try Meloetta instead
  • Lastly, special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta help against physical walls that Staraptor struggles with such as Hippowdon, Skarmory, and Mandibuzz.
  • Despite having two Flying-types, Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor can both wear down Flying checks due to hitting opposite defenses. For example, Mega Pidgeot can hit Skarmory with a Heat Wave, while Staraptor can hit Togekiss with its powerful STAB moves.

  • Whirlwind can be an alternative if Staraptor fears Mega Scizor or other bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite. It also works as a good shuffler in getting passive damage from Stealth Rock. If you only mention it here, don't mention it in Usage Tips. If you add it to Moves and keep it in Usage Tips, remove the mention here. Also. If you do keep it here, put "Whirlwind can be an alternative on the defensive set"
  • Toxic can also be used on the defensive set to cripple bulky Pokemon as well. However, this leaves Normal weak to Bisharp due to its Immunity to Toxic and having Whirlwind could possibly shuffle the opponent's Pokemon into Bisharp. Staraptor would have to Whirlwind again and take damage or switch out. This can also cause a problem if Bisharp is the last Pokemon remaining on a Dark or Steel team.
  • Quick Attack can be used to help pick off weaker Pokemon or get damage before going down.
  • Final Gambit should can be run with max HP and Speed for Staraptor to outspeed the opposing foe. This is mainly used in getting rid of any counters to Staraptor and its team.

Good job QC 1/3

Hey! I remember this analysis.

Bulky:
In Moves, I think you should make it more clear why Close Combat is the main move for the 4th slot. Feather Dance is nice, but is rather useless against SD setup sweepers such as Mega Scizor and notably Bisharp and walls such as Ferrothorn and Tyranitar. U-turn is also not quite as good as CC but does let you bring in a check or counter safely.

Usage Tips: There's a lot of emphasis on Intimidate, so this seem implied, but I think it should be explicitly stated. Staraptor must be careful of physical attackers that switch into it, because Intimidate did not affect them. Staraptor has a much harder time walling foes that do not have the -1 Attack drop. Here's an example of what I mean, to be clear: Choice Band Azumarill cannot 2HKO Staraptor after the Intimidate drop. However, if Azumarill switches into Staraptor, it can now 2HKO Staraptor easily with Play Rough or Waterfall.

Team Options: You may wish to mention that Chansey and Porygon2 appreciate Staraptor being able to switch into Knock Off relatively safely, although losing Leftovers is a blow. Porygon2 may be a physical wall, but Knock Off is not something it ever wants to take. Further, Close Combat Staraptor can threaten out most Knock Off users such as Weavile, which surprisingly cannot KO Staraptor from full health with Knock Off + Icicle Crash, and Bisharp.

Scarf:
Set Details: I'd specify outspeeding foes such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B or Swift Swim Mega Swampert, letting Staraptor revenge kill them if they're slightly weakened. To be fair, Porygon2 can handle both, but on HO teams that might lack Porygon2, this would be relevant.

Team Options: I think prefacing this section with a note that this set functions best on HO teams that need a revenge killer would be helpful. Most balanced or stall teams would much rather have a Defogging bulky Staraptor. (You may want to mention this in the bulky set's Team Options, now that I think about it!)

Other Options: I really don't know if Final Gambit is worth mentioning. It seems really gimmicky and if Staraptor's not at full health it doesn't do much damage. I got confused too what set it was supposed to be on. For some reason I imagined the bulky set using this. Bulky set definitely won't want this and the Scarf set will want to have Attack investment.

Checks and Counters: It's probably worth mentioning support Pokemon that aren't weak to Brave Bird for the bulky set. Walls that aren't weak to Brave Bird, such as Mew, have pretty much nothing to fear from this set. They also tend to pack entry hazards, status moves, or other utility that they can freely use on Staraptor.

Not much to comment on, great job!

Staraptor is a huge staple on Normal-type teams, as can be used offensively in running items such as Choice Scarf and Choice Band, or it can also be very useful defensively. Staraptor can act as a very powerful wallbreaker or revenge killer, having an excellent base Attack stat coupled with an impressive base 100 Speed. With access in to the ability in Reckless, Staraptor can puncture holes in the opposing team with its dual STAB moves such as Brave Bird and Double Edge. Staraptor is able to provide team support by lowering the foe's Attack stat, thanks to its ability, Intimidate, which allows it to survive another hit from physically offensive Pokemon. Staraptor is able to provide Defog support, as it's the only viable user of entry hazard removal. With its Flying typing, Staraptor gains neutrality against Fighting-types and it is able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice Pokemon locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, and Diggersby.

I wouldn't consider base 100 "impressive". You can change it to "solid base 100 speed"
Not GP but change that sentence to "With access to the ability Reckless" :>
Change the next part to "Staraptor is able to run a bulky set to provide team support with access to Intimidate and Defog."
Really emphasize how Bulky Raptor with intimidate is able to switch in to many Fighting type moves, most notably Close Combat. You can mention types it checks in another line.
"Switch-in to Ground-type attacks" could be made into "Immune to Ground-type attacks and can hard wall locked Scarfers such as ___"

Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take several hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar bulk. Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which gives it limited opportunities to switch-in and limits its effectiveness as a defogger. Despite Staraptor being a very offensive Pokemon, it has trouble breaking through certain defensive Pokemon such as Skarmory and Hippowdon. Staraptor is also vulnerable to status moves, which hinders its effectiveness. Even though Staraptor has Reckless, it relies too much on its recoil moves to deal a lot of damage, which wears its longevity quickly.

Subpar Spdef Bulk*, remember how you mentioned that intimidate allows it to act as a physical switch in.
I think you need to group the sets in order, talk about the offensive Reckless set first then talk about the bulky set, as done in the first paragraph.

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB and damaging move for Pokemon that don't resist the attack. Roost gives Staraptor reliable recovery, replenishing its health to prolong its stay on the field throughout the match to continuously switch into physical attackers to wall them. Defog gives Staraptor utility to act as a reliable entry hazard remover for its team. Close Combat gives Staraptor more coverage. Despite the drop in defenses after the move is used, Close Combat is beneficial for Staraptor to not be walled by certain types such as Rock and Steel. Examples of Pokemon include Tyranitar and Bisharp.

You talk about how Rocks weakness makes it a less reliable Defog Pokemon then change it here to reliable entry hazard remover. In my opinion, change it to "decent entry hazard remover"
Merge two CC sentences, Close Combat grants Staraptor Fighting coverage and allows it to damage Rock and Steel Pokemon, which would wall it otherwise.

U-turn can also be used instead of Close Combat in order to provide more momentum for the team in addition to scouting the opponent's team. Feather Dance can be used instead of Close Combat and U-turn, as it is a great supporting move, which lowers their Attack stat by two stages thus, crippling physical attackers. However, the move is useless against Swords Dance Mega Scizor and Defiant Bisharp.

Merge these two paragraphs together, no reason not to. Move Feather Dance before all other moves, I consider it the most relevant because it is able to Feather Dance in many situations to wall Physical threats better. Ex: Feather Dancing a Fighting mon allows you to heal up more easily as the opposing attacker is now weakened.
Feather Dance annoys SD Mega Scizor, would remove from there.

Set Details
========

240 HP gives Staraptor a Stealth Rock number in being able to switch-in four times along with a Leftovers number. 252 Defense EVs with an Impish nature allow for Staraptor to take physical attacks much more effectively. The remaining 16 EVs are used in Speed for Staraptor to outspeed neutral base 70s Speed Pokemon such as Bisharp and Breloom. Intimidate provides Staraptor and its team support in softening attacks from physical attackers. Leftovers give Staraptor passive recovery every turn in conjunction with Roost. Safety Goggles can be used instead of Leftovers for Staraptor to avoid being crippled by Breloom's Spore and Whimsicott's Stun Spore.

Spore does not "cripple" Staraptor, more like it beats it. Whims's stun spore is pretty irrelevant because you are comparing it to a Normal team which doesn't struggle with it.

Usage Tips
========

This set utilizes Staraptor's role on balanced and stall teams on Normal. Staraptor should mainly be used as a switch-in to physical attackers because of Intimidate. Staraptor must be careful of physical attackers switching into it because Intimidate will not work on them. Staraptor will have even more difficulty tanking other physical attackers if they don't have the -1 in Attack. For example, Choice Band Azumarill is unable to 2HKO Staraptor after the Attack drop from Intimidate. However, if Azumarill switches into Staraptor, it can easily 2HKO Staraptor with either Play Rough or Waterfall. Staraptor should never be used as a switch-in for special attackers because of its low Special Defense, which makes it vulnerable to take a hit. Despite having Defog, try not to have Staraptor continuously switch-in on Stealth Rock without using Roost in between turns to keep its health high. Make sure you keep Staraptor away from status moves such as poison, paralysis, and burns. This would greatly hinder its longevity.

If there's a Pokemon that can't do much do it such as Choice Scarf Heracross after an Intimidate, it's safe to go for either a Brave Bird, Roost up, or Defog any entry hazards from your field. Use Close Combat on Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar so Staraptor can easily remove them off the field. Be wary of switching into Bisharp because it can get a boost from Defiant after an Intimidate. U-turn also helps Staraptor escape switch-ins and bring its teammate in safely. This would help because its teammates will be coming in on a slow U-turn to avoid damage. Feather Dance compounds the Attack drop from Intimidate to make physical attackers almost useless against Staraptor and its teammates. Be wary that due to its low PP Feather Dance cannot be Swords Dance users. Don't hesitate to use Feather Dance on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Medicham because Staraptor will be able to wall it and replenish its health back with Roost.

Include what I mentioned about Feather Dance, talk about it more.

Team Options
========

Chansey is an excellent partner for Staraptor, as it makes a great status absorber due to its ability in Natural Cure. Chansey can also be a great help in switching into Special Attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle. Chansey also has access to Stealth Rock, which provides great utility. Porygon2 can wear down defensive Pokemon with Toxic or Thunder Wave. Also, it helps deal with pestering Flying-types that can easily handle Staraptor such as Zapdos and Skarmory. Foul Play Porygon2 also works nicely as a check against Mega Scizor. Both Chansey and Porygon2 appreciates any entry hazards gone with Defog. Both Chansey and Porygon2 appreciate Staraptor's ability to switch into Knock Off even though it'll lose its Leftovers item. With Close Combat, Staraptor will be able to threaten out Knock Off users such as Weavile and Bisharp.

Rocks don't really help a bulky mon like Staraptor.

Mega Lopunny can assist in removing types that threaten Staraptor with its powerful High Jump Kick such as Dark, Ice, Normal, Rock, and Steel-types. Staraptor also appreciates a Pokemon that has an Electric immunity such as Diggersby. Additionally, Diggersby can break through walls with its outstanding attacks from Huge Power. Setup sweepers and special attackers will be very troublesome for Staraptor, so Choice Scarf Ditto can be very helpful in getting rid of these Pokemon due to having Imposter and copying the threat's stat changes. Other special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta are also wonderful partners in dealing a lot of damage to the opposing team for Staraptor. Mega Pidgeot and Meloetta deserves a special mention because they both can defeat Steel-types that Staraptor struggles against with Heat Wave and Focus Blast. In return, Mega Pidgeot appreciates Staraptor getting rid of Stealth Rock with Defog.

Threaten -> beat
Diggersby isn't really an electric switch in as most carry stuff like HP ice... Chansey is generally a good enough switch in to special moves.

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB move of choice. Dealing enormous damage to opposing teams that don't resist it. Double Edge is another STAB move which allows Staraptor to hit Electric-types for neutral damage such as Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Mega Ampharos. Close Combat gives Staraptor coverage in checking Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Kyurem-B, Omastar, and Heatran. U-turn provides more momentum for Staraptor and its team along with scouting the foe.

Electric-types such as Zap...
Mention how Close Combat is purely for the amazing coverage that allows it to hit Rock, Ice, Steel, and other Normal Pokemon super effectively.
U-turn does not really scout like Protect would, delete that.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and Choice Scarf allow for Staraptor to be an effective revenge killer while outspeeding fast threats, such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Swift Swim Mega Swampert. 252 Attack EVs increases Staraptor's damage output. Also, it's good when utilizing U-turn to pivot in and off the field. Reckless is the preferred ability, as it boosts the power of Brave Bird and Double Edge. An Adamant nature with a Choice Band can be used instead of Jolly for more power and a way to get potential KOs on Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, special defensive Zapdos, and offensive Volcanion; however, Staraptor will lose the extra Speed from Choice Scarf.

Usage Tips
========

This set functions best on hyper offensive teams due to Staraptor being ability of being an excellent revenge killer. Choice Scarf Staraptor is used to take out offensive threats, especially Fighting-types. Some examples include Keldeo, Landorus, and Gengar. With Choice Scarf, Staraptor can also act as a pseudo wallbreaker given that it's running Reckless. Staraptor can also be used early- or mid-game to help break walls for its teammates. It's better to have Staraptor come in after a fallen teammate or a predicted switch so it doesn't have to risk taking any damage on the switch due to its bulk.

Balanced Normal is the most viable archetype, and people commonly run Offensive Raptor on it as well. Hyper Offense isn't as common. Simply mention how Staraptor is a nice revenge killer in general and checks Fighting threats.
Some examples of Fighting-type threats are Keldeo, Mega Gallade, and Heracross.

U-turn is great way to scout and get any chip damage and get a much better matchup. Don't have Staraptor continuously switch-in while Stealth Rock is on the field because this hinders its switch-in opportunities. Also, Staraptor can be used effectively as a late-game cleaner once all its checks are gone. Close Combat should be used when necessary. It should mainly be used to hit Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. But Staraptor should avoid using Close Combat on Skarmory because it's able to tank it very well and Staraptor would take Rocky Helmet damage.

What are you really scouting with U-turn? Usually, people just turn out if they are unable to beat the current Pokemon in front of it or for simple momentum on the predicted switch to a wall.
Add Dark to that list.
Change last sentence to "should avoid aggressively attacking when there is a clear wall, instead choosing to U-turn out for momentum."

Team Options
========

Staraptor requires entry hazard support to apply more offensive pressure on the opposing team. Additionally, breaking Focus Sash Pokemon. Great examples are Pokemon such as Smeargle or Chansey, allowing Staraptor to wallbreak more easily and acquire KOs. Smeargle is also able to set up Sticky Web, providing Staraptor and its team with speed control. Chansey can continue to sponge special attacks for Staraptor. It also has access to Thunder Wave, which helps provide speed control and a chance for Staraptor get free turns upon attacking. Because Staraptor won't be able to handle Doublade, as it resists both its STAB moves, immune to Close Combat, and use it as setup fodder with Swords Dance, Pokemon such as Diggersby, Mega Lopunny, and Meloetta are excellent checks in removing it off the field along with other threats that opposes Staraptor.

Just mention how entry hazard support lets it wallbreak more easily, get rid of that short sentence right after it. Add Sturdy and Sash mons in the first sentence as well.
Mention how Diggersby and Lopunny break down similar walls.

Lastly, special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta help against physical walls that Staraptor struggles with such as Hippowdon, Skarmory, and Mandibuzz. Despite having two Flying-types, Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor can both wear down Flying checks due to hitting opposite defenses. For example, Mega Pidgeot can hit Skarmory with a Heat Wave, while Staraptor can hit Togekiss with its powerful STAB moves.

Other Options
=============

Whirlwind can be an alternative for defensive Staraptor if it fears Mega Scizor or other bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite. It also works as a good shuffler in getting passive damage from Stealth Rock. Whirlwind can also be used to keep sweepers from setting up on Staraptor such as Mega Scizor. Toxic can also be used to cripple bulky Pokemon as well. Quick Attack can be used to help pick off weaker Pokemon or get damage before going down.

Combine first two sentences :<
Quick Attack should never be used.
Please mention Whirlwind in one sitting all together and Toxic is specifically used only on the bulky set.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Normal**

**Special Attackers**: Due to Staptor's weak special bulk, it won't be able to take several hits. Examples of powerful special attackers include Volcanion, Landorus, and Mega Diancie.

**Physically Defense Pokemon**: Physically bulky Pokemon such as Skarmory, Hippowdon, and Avalugg can tank several hits from Staraptor and recover damage with their reliable recovery. This can have them stall out its Choice Scarf set, as Staraptor can faint from its own recoil attacks.

**Status**: If not careful, Staraptor can be crippled by Thunder Wave, Toxic, and Will-O-Wisp from notable Pokemon such as Klefki, Porygon2, and Mega Sableye, which hinders its longevity and would need to waste turns using Roost to keep itself on the field.

**Steel-types**: Staraptor has trouble breakthrough the majority of Steel-types, as they resist the majority of its STAB moves, which Staraptor has to rely on Close Combat to deal any damage. Doublade will be very problematic due to having an immunity to Close Combat. Mega Scizor can even survive a Choice Band Reckless Brave Bird and KO it back. If defensive Staraptor doesn't carry Close Combat, Bisharp will be very troublesome due to having Defiant.

**Support Pokemon**: Support from opposing teams can be very problematic for Staraptor. Mew is an excellent example, as it has nothing to fear from either the bulky and Choice Scarf sets and as it can cripple Staraptor with Will-O-Wisp while setting up Stealth Rock.
comments in bold. lots of stuff here, so be careful about the implementations. After finishing it up, QC 3/3 and please go over your grammar before submitting it for GP, mine was bad as well.

Implemented most of the changes.

Close Combat is still left as the most relevant. Spoke to another QC member who knows a lot about Normal as well. Being a Normal-type user, I don't find Feather Dance as good as Close Combat. I actually had to replace that with Close Combat many months ago for things like Bisharp and other threats that would wall Staraptor with Close Combat being absent. But I switched Feather Dance with U-turn.

ugh, sorry about this check taking so long. I forgot how hard it was to do a check directly over an amcheck, so I hope the quality/consistency of the check didn't get affected as a result.

CryoGyro , nice job overall; here are a couple things to keep in mind:
  • Be more clear in your changes for punctuation. For example, I'd expect that something like "add semicolon" is a lot more clear than "ASCo", and I don't really think it takes that much more effort to write it out. If you want to have abbreviations like that, include a code for what the abbreviations mean alongside the part where you show your color-coding
  • Pay careful attention to the points the author is trying to get across before you make grammar changes; sometimes you changed the meaning of a sentence from what the author was originally aiming for. If you're confused by what an author wants to say, include a comment noting that so the author can revise it accordingly.
I left some comments for you in the second hide, though I had a few last minute minor changes as I was fixing the check up for Misaka. Sorry if it's really messy :x

[OVERVIEW]

Staraptor is a
huge staple on Normal-type teams, as it can be used offensively in by running items such as Choice Scarf and Choice Band, or it can also be very useful defensively defensively as a physically bulky hazard remover. (Cryo noted how exactly it's being used defensively, and I fixed this part as it was very strange either way from a parallel structure standpoint) Staraptor can act as a very powerful wallbreaker or revenge killer, having an excellent base 120 Attack stat coupled with an impressive base 100 Speed. With access in to the ability in Reckless, Staraptor can puncture punch (puncture essentially means to create holes...so you're creating holes in holes?) holes in the opposing team with its dual STAB moves such as Brave Bird and Double Edge Double-Edge. Staraptor is able to tun run a bulky set to provide team support with its access to Intimidate and Defog, making it the only viable user way to remove entry hazards on Normal-type teams. With its Flying typing, Staraptor gains neutrality against Fighting-types attacks and it is becomes (parallel) able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice item Pokemon locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, and Diggersby.

Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take several hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar Special Defense. Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which gives it limited opportunities to switch-in switch in and limits reduces (word repetition) its effectiveness as a defogger. Despite Staraptor being a very offensive Pokemon, it has trouble breaking through certain defensive Pokemon such as Skarmory and Hippowdon. Staraptor is also vulnerable to status moves, which hinders hinder its effectiveness. Even though Staraptor has Reckless, it relies too much on its recoil moves to deal a lot of damage, which wears its longevity quickly. Because Staraptor has Reckless and relies on recoil moves to deal lots of damage, it gets worn down quickly. (cleaned this up and tried to keep the author's intention intact)

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB and damaging move, (AC) heavily damaging for Pokemon that don't resist the attack. Roost gives Staraptor reliable recovery, replenishing its health throughout the match to prolong its stay on the field (I really don't like this phrase. While I understand your flavor is important, this phrase gives me the impression that it allows it to not need to switch out, which I seriously doubt is the case) longevity throughout the match to and let it continuously switch into physical attackers to wall them. Defog gives Staraptor utility to act as a reliable entry hazard remover for its team. Close Combat grants Staraptor Fighting-type coverage against Rock- and Steel-types. (remove period) , (AC) Examples of Pokemon include such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. Feather Dance can be used instead of Close Combat and U-turn (U-turn not mentioned yet), as it is a great supporting move, (RC) which lowers their Attack stat by two stages thus, (RC) (we want to know why it's run, not what it does) for crippling physical attackers. However, the move is useless against Swords Dance Mega Scizor and Defiant Bisharp. U-turn can also be used instead of Close Combat in order to provide more momentum for the team in addition to scouting the opponent's team.

240 HP EVs gives give Staraptor a Stealth Rock number in being able to switch-in four times along with a Stealth Rock number and a Leftovers number. ("Stealth Rock number" is an accepted term so I'm just gonna keep things simple) 252 Defense EVs with an Impish nature allow for Staraptor to take physical attacks much more effectively. The remaining 16 EVs are used in Speed for Staraptor to outspeed neutral base 70s Speed Pokemon such as Bisharp and Breloom. Intimidate provides Staraptor and its team support in by softening attacks from physical attackers. Leftovers give gives Staraptor passive recovery every turn in conjunction with Roost. Safety Goggles can be used instead of Leftovers for Staraptor to avoid being put to sleep by Breloom's Spore.

Usage Tips
========

This set utilizes Staraptor's role fits best on balanced and stall Normal-type teams on Normal. Because of Intimidate, (AC) Staraptor should mainly be used as a switch-in to physical attackers because of Intimidate. Staraptor must be careful of physical attackers switching into it because Intimidate will not work on them , (AC) so it will have difficulty in tanking their attacks. Staraptor should never be used as a switch-in for special attackers because of its low Special Defense, (RC) which makes it vulnerable to take a hit (obvious). Despite having Defog, try not to have Staraptor continuously switch-in switch in on Stealth Rock without using Roost in between turns (you Roost ON your turn) to keep its health high. Make sure you keep Staraptor away from status moves such as poison, paralysis, and burns. (remove period) This , (AC) as they would greatly hinder its longevity.

If there's a Pokemon that can't do much do it such as Choice Scarf Heracross after an Intimidate, it's safe to go for either a Brave Bird, Roost up, or Defog to remove any entry hazards from your side of the field. Use Close Combat on Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar so Staraptor can easily remove them off the field. Be wary of switching into Bisharp because it can get a boost from Defiant after an Intimidate. U-turn also helps Staraptor escape switch-ins and bring its teammates in safely. This would will help because its teammates will be coming in on a slow U-turn to avoid damage. Feather Dance compounds the Attack drop from Intimidate to make physical attackers almost useless against Staraptor and its teammates. Be wary that, (AC) due to its low PP, (AC) Feather Dance cannot beat Swords Dance users. Feather Dance helps Staraptor wall physical attackers better so that it can easily Roost. Don't hesitate to use Feather Dance on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Medicham because Staraptor will be able to wall it and replenish its health back with Roost.

Chansey is an excellent partner for Staraptor, as it makes a great status absorber due to its ability in Natural Cure. Chansey can also be a great help in switching into Special Attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle. Chansey also has access to Stealth Rock, which provides great utility. Chansey is an excellent partner for Staraptor, as it can make for a great status absorber due to Natural Cure, switch into special attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle, and use Stealth Rock, which provides great utility. Mega Lopunny can assist in removing types that threaten Staraptor with its powerful High Jump Kick such as Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. (I don't think the first three types need a mention since Staraptor should technically be able to handle most members of those types just fine) Staraptor also appreciates a Pokemon that has an Electric immunity such as Diggersby. Mega Pidgeot and Meloetta deserves deserve a special mention because they both can defeat Steel-types that Staraptor struggles against with Heat Wave and Focus Blast. Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and a Choice Scarf allow allows for Staraptor to be an effective revenge killer while outspeeding fast threats, such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Swift Swim Mega Swampert. 252 Attack EVs increases Staraptor's damage output. Also, it's good They're especially useful when utilizing U-turn to pivot in and off the field. Reckless is the preferred ability, as it boosts the power of Brave Bird and Double Edge Double-Edge. Staraptor functions as an excellent revenge killer against Pokemon such as Landorus and , (AC) Gengar, and, (AC) especially, (AC) Fighting-types such as Keldeo, Mega Gallade, and Heracross. With Choice Scarf, Staraptor can also act as a pseudo-wallbreaker (add hyphen) early- or mid-game to help break walls for its teammates, (AC) given that it's running Reckless. (subjective change to help condense things. I wouldn't think Staraptor would be doing wall-breaking late-game, so if this is factually wrong feel free to keep it as is) Staraptor can also be used early- or mid-game to help break walls for its teammates. Due to its low bulk, (AC) It's it's better to have Staraptor come in after a fallen teammate or a predicted switch so it doesn't have to risk taking any damage on the switch due to its low bulk.

U-turn is great way to get any deal chip damage and get a much better matchup. Don't have Staraptor continuously switch-in (remove hyphen) while Stealth Rock is on the field because this hinders its switch-in future opportunities to come in. Also, Staraptor can be used effectively as a late-game cleaner once all its checks are gone. Close Combat should be used only when necessary. (remove period) , (add comma) It should mainly be used to hit Dark-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. But Staraptor should avoid aggressively attacking when there is an clear obvious wall, (RC) and instead choosing to use U-turn out for momentum.

Team Options

Staraptor requires entry hazard support to apply more offensive pressure on the opposing team, especially against Focus Sash and Sturdy Pokemon, allowing Staraptor it to wallbreak and acquire KOs more easily and acquire KOs. Smeargle is also able to set up Sticky Web, providing Staraptor and its team with speed control. Chansey can continue to (should not assume reading of other sets) sponge special attacks for Staraptor and set up Stealth Rock. Because Staraptor won't be able to handle Doublade, as it resists both of its STAB moves, is immune to Close Combat, and can use it as setup fodder with Swords Dance, Pokemon such as Diggersby, Mega Lopunny, and Meloetta are excellent checks in for removing it off the field along with other threats that opposes Staraptor. Diggersby and Mega Lopunny deserve a special mention, (AC) as both can break down walls with their powerful STAB moves.

Lastly, special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta help against physical walls that Staraptor struggles with such as Hippowdon, Skarmory, and Mandibuzz. Despite having two both being Flying-types, Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor can both wear down Flying checks due to hitting opposite defenses their complimentary movesets. Whirlwind can be an alternative move for defensive Staraptor, as it works as a good shuffler if it fears Mega Scizor or other bulky Pokemon such as Dragonite. Whirlwind can also be used to keep sweepers , (AC) such as Mega Scizor, (AC) from setting up on Staraptor such as Mega Scizor and deal passive damage while Stealth Rock is on the field. Toxic can also be used to cripple bulky Pokemon as well. However, this leaves Normal weak to Bisharp due to its Immunity immunity to Toxic and having using Whirlwind could possibly shuffle the opponent's Pokemon into Bisharp. Staraptor would have to Whirlwind again and take damage or switch out. This can also cause a problem if Bisharp is the last Pokemon remaining on a Dark or Steel team. Both Whirlwind and Toxic should only be used in the bulky set.

**Steel-types**: Staraptor has trouble breaking(space)through the majority of Steel-types, as they most of them resist the majority of its STAB moves, which meaning Staraptor has to rely on Close Combat to deal any damage. Doublade will be very problematic due to having an immunity to Close Combat. Mega Scizor can even survive even a Choice Band Reckless-boosted Brave Bird and KO it back. If defensive Staraptor doesn't carry Close Combat, Bisharp will be very troublesome due to having Defiant.

**Support Pokemon**: Support Pokemon from opposing teams can be very problematic for Staraptor. Mew is an excellent example, as it has nothing to fear from either the bulky and or Choice Scarf sets and as it can cripple Staraptor with Will-O-Wisp while setting up Stealth Rock.

GP 2/2
[OVERVIEW]

Staraptor is a huge staple on Normal-type teams, as it can be used offensively by running in an offensive role (this one's largely optional) with items such as Choice Scarf and Choice Band (RC) or defensively in a defensive one (same) as a physically bulky hazard remover. Offensively, (AC) Staraptor can act as a very powerful wallbreaker or revenge killer, having an excellent base 120 Attack stat coupled with an impressive base 100 Speed. With access to the ability Reckless, Staraptor can punch holes in the opposing team with its STAB moves Brave Bird and Double-Edge. Staraptor is able to run a bulky set to provide team support with its access to Intimidate and Defog, making it being the only viable way to remove option for removing entry hazards on Normal-type teams. With its Flying typing, Staraptor gains a neutrality against Fighting-type attacks and becomes able to check types such as Bug, Fighting, and Grass, along with being a good switch-in to Ground-type attacks, especially against Choice item Pokemon users locked into a Ground-type attack such as Landorus-T, Excadrill, and Diggersby.

Unfortunately, Staraptor cannot afford to take several multiple (or "repeated" or whatever, but "several" sounds p. vague / awkward) hits, especially from special attackers due to its subpar Special Defense. Staraptor is also hindered by Stealth Rock, which gives it limited limits its opportunities to switch in and reduces its effectiveness as a Defogger.

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB move, heavily damaging Pokemon that don't resist the attack. Roost gives Staraptor reliable recovery, replenishing its health throughout the match to prolong its longevity and help it continuously switch into physical attackers to wall them. Defog gives lets Staraptor utility to act as a reliable entry hazard remover for its team. Close Combat grants Staraptor Fighting-type coverage against Rock- and Steel-types, such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. Feather Dance can be used instead of Close Combat, as it is a great supporting move for crippling to cripple physical attackers (RC) which and allow Staraptor to recover more easily with Roost. However, the move is useless against Swords Dance Mega Scizor and Defiant Bisharp. U-turn can also be used instead of Close Combat in order to provide more momentum for the team in addition to scouting the opponent's team.

Set Details
========

240 HP EVs give Staraptor a Stealth Rock number and a Leftovers number minimize Stealth Rock damage and maximize Leftovers recovery.

Usage Tips
========

This set fits best on balanced and stall Normal-type teams. Because of Intimidate, Staraptor should mainly be used as a switch-in to physical attackers. Staraptor must be careful of physical attackers switching into it instead because Intimidate will not work on them then, (less confusing) so it will have difficulty in tanking their attacks. For example, Choice Band Azumarill is unable to 2HKO Staraptor after the Attack drop from Intimidate. However, if Azumarill switches into Staraptor, it but can easily 2HKO Staraptor with either Play Rough or Waterfall otherwise.

If there's a Pokemon that can't do much do it Staraptor such as Choice Scarf Heracross after an Intimidate, it's safe to go for either a Brave Bird, Roost, or Defog to remove any entry hazards from your side of the field. Use Close Combat on Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar so Staraptor can easily remove them off from the field. Be wary of switching into Bisharp because it can get a boost from Defiant after an Intimidate. U-turn helps Staraptor escape switch-ins and bring its teammates in safely. This will help because its teammates will be coming in on a slow U-turn to avoid damage. (pretty sure this 100% follows from the previous sentence?) Feather Dance compounds the Attack drop from Intimidate to make physical attackers almost useless against Staraptor and its teammates. Be wary that, due to its low PP, Feather Dance cannot let Staraptor beat Swords Dance users. Feather Dance helps Staraptor wall physical attackers better so that it can easily Roost. Don't hesitate to use Feather Dance on powerful physical attackers such as Mega Medicham because Staraptor will be able to wall it and replenish its health back with Roost.

Team Options

Chansey is an excellent partner for Staraptor, as it can make for a great status absorber due to Natural Cure, switch into special attacks that Staraptor won't be able to handle, and use Stealth Rock, which provides great utility. Porygon2 can wear down defensive Pokemon with Toxic or Thunder Wave and deal with pestering Flying-types that can easily handle Staraptor such as Zapdos and Skarmory. Foul Play Porygon2 also works nicely as a check against Mega Scizor. Both Chansey and Porygon2 appreciate any the removal of entry hazards with Defog and Staraptor's ability to switch into Knock Off, even though it'll lose its Leftovers item. With Close Combat, Staraptor will be able to threaten out Knock Off users such as Weavile and Bisharp.

Mega Lopunny can assist in removing types foes that threaten Staraptor with its powerful High Jump Kick such as Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types. Staraptor also appreciates a Pokemon teammate that has an Electric immunity such as Diggersby. Additionally, Diggersby can break through walls with its outstanding fearsome Huge Power-boosted attacks from Huge Power. Setup sweepers and special attackers will be very troublesome for Staraptor, so Choice Scarf Ditto can be very helpful in getting rid of these Pokemon due to having Imposter and copying being able to copy the threat's stat changes. Other special attackers such as Mega Pidgeot, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta are also wonderful partners in options for dealing a lot of damage to the opposing team for Staraptor. Mega Pidgeot and Meloetta deserve a special mention because they both can defeat Steel-types that Staraptor struggles against with Heat Wave and Focus Blast, (AC) respectively. In return, Mega Pidgeot appreciates Staraptor getting rid of Stealth Rock with Defog.

Moves
========

Brave Bird is Staraptor's main STAB move, dealing enormous damage to opposing Pokemon that don't resist it. Double-Edge is another STAB move which allows Staraptor to hit Electric-types, such as Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Mega Ampharos, for neutral damage. Close Combat gives Staraptor coverage against Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, Rock-, and Steel-types such as Bisharp, Kyurem-B, Chansey, Tyranitar, and Heatran. U-turn provides more momentum for Staraptor and its team.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Jolly nature and a Choice Scarf allows for Staraptor to be an effective revenge killer while outspeeding fast threats, such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Swift Swim Mega Swampert in rain. 252 Attack EVs increase Staraptor's damage output. They're especially useful when utilizing U-turn to pivot in and off the field. Reckless is the preferred ability, as it boosts the power of Brave Bird and Double-Edge. An Adamant nature with a Choice Band can be used instead of Jolly for more power and a way to get potential KOs on Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, specially defensive Zapdos, and offensive Volcanion; however, Staraptor will lose the extra Speed from Choice Scarf. ("the revenge killing capabilities Choice Scarf provides it with"? clearly it loses the extra speed from scarf, what noticeable consequences does that have?)

Usage Tips
========

Due to its low bulk, it's better to have Staraptor come in after a fallen teammate has fallen or on a predicted switch so it doesn't have to risk taking any damage on the switch.

========

Because Staraptor won't be able to handle Doublade, as it which resists both of its STAB moves, is immune to Close Combat, and can use it as setup fodder with Swords Dance, Pokemon such as Diggersby, Mega Lopunny, and Meloetta are excellent checks for removing it along with other threats that oppose Staraptor.

Despite both being Flying-types, Mega Pidgeot and Staraptor can both wear down Flying checks due to their complimentary complementary movesets. For example, Mega Pidgeot can hit Skarmory with Heat Wave, while Staraptor can hit Togekiss with its powerful STAB moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

However, this leaves Normal weak to Bisharp due to its immunity to Toxic, (AC) and using Whirlwind could possibly shuffle the opponent's Pokemon into Bisharp in. Staraptor would have to Whirlwind again and take damage or switch out. This can also cause a problem if Bisharp is the last Pokemon remaining on a Dark or Steel team. Both Whirlwind and Toxic should only be used in the bulky set.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Normal**

**Special Attackers**: Due to Staraptor's weak special bulk, it won't be able to take several ("repeated" imo, see before) hits from powerful special attackers such as Volcanion, Landorus, and Mega Diancie.

**Physically Defense Defensive Pokemon**: Physically bulky Pokemon such as Skarmory, Hippowdon, and Avalugg can tank several hits from Staraptor and recover damage with their reliable recovery.

**Steel-types**: Staraptor has trouble breaking through the majority of Steel-types, as they most of them resist its STAB moves, meaning Staraptor has to rely on Close Combat to deal any damage. Doublade will be very problematic due to having an immunity to Close Combat. Mega Scizor can survive even a Choice Band- (AH) and Reckless-boosted Brave Bird and KO it back.
